Stopped by Dark Sky Brewing Beer Garden & Atmosphere Kitchen for lunch before the NAU graduation ceremony and it was a great spot to relax before the festivities. The outdoor beer garden is huge with plenty of seating, heaters for those crisp Flagstaff evenings, and sunshades for warmer days. There's indoor seating too, but the outdoor area is definitely the main attraction. It's also dog friendly, which was nice to see. You order both food and drinks at the counter and they bring everything out to you. We arrived right when they opened and there was already a line forming, so the place is clearly popular. The decor fully leans into Flagstaff's International Dark Sky designation with UFO, alien, and astronaut-themed artwork throughout the venue, which gives it a fun atmosphere. The drink selection was impressive with a huge variety of craft beers on tap plus cocktails, cider, and wine. We tried the Rainy Daze hazy IPA and the Vortices hazy double IPA. Both were smooth, flavorful, and not overly bitter or hoppy, and of course very hazy. Food was more hit or miss. The pretzel board was really good and the beer cheese was awesome. The fish and chips, however, were just okay. The fish tasted like the fryer oil probably needed to be changed, and the portions were smaller than expected with only three thin pieces of fish. The fries at least came out crispy and hot. Service was friendly, although interaction is pretty limited since everything is counter service. My hub & I came to Flagstaff for the weekend and stopped by Dark Sky for a quick, causal dinner. The location was super close and walkable. They have a lovely outdoor area but it was too cold for us to enjoy it unfortunately. The inside was also cozy. I loved all the quirky decor & they have live music. You order drinks & food at the counter and they bring everything out to your table. I really enjoyed my sour beer, my hub said his IPA was just ok. For food we shared the cheese curds and wings. The cheese curds were amazing, solid 10/10. They were perfectly gooey & I loved the salt and vinegar crust. The wings were also really good, great size & good flavor. I'd definitely come back here again next time I visit & hopefully in a bit warmer weather to fully enjoy the whole place. read more

Absolutely adore the vibe of this place. They play punk music and have cool merch. I could definitely see myself as a regular if I lived here. There is a great outdoor seating area with heat lamps plus the indoor area. Visited in late March and it felt wonderful outside. Got a flight of five different beers but you can get up to eight in a flight. My favorite was the XXX Bronze. Heads up, do not rely on the website to see what's currently on tap because it is not updated frequently. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by a series of missteps that left us wondering if the brewery was having an off day. We love Dark Sky! It's our favorite brewery in Flagstaff. We like the OG brewery side that has Pizzicletta. Dark Sky and Pizzicletta run separately so you have two seperate bills. They have a newer side of Dark Sky, called the "Atmosphere Kitchen" that serves bar food and a beer garden that is 21 and older and also pet friendly. We've never eaten on that side because we love the pizza from Pizzicletta. I always get the Fungi pizza, the flavors are outstanding! My husband loves the Diavola pizza, which means devil in Italian. The pizza is a spicy Italian. The beer selection at Dark Sky is great! The whole place has a cool, laid back energy. The staff is friendly and attentive. Definitely a brewery to visit! read more

The food was great service was even better when it came to our food. We had ordered the bees knees and the margarita. Both were good. Would i say it's the best pizza I've ever had...i don't think so. I mean it's definitely in my top 10 for sure but not number 1. With trying the two different pizzas i wast left with the type of yearning for another pizza of a flavor. I'd try another flavor next time we came back. When it came to the service for the beer side of things it was just okay. I think because they only had one person manning that area and probably stretched very thin so we had to go up to ask for our bill from someone else working behind the bar because im not sure when our waitress would even have time to come back to our table. Dark Sky Brewing Beer Garden and Atmosphere Kitchen was a great place to stop in for tasty beers and bites after a very long day of driving. We tried to go to the taproom and Pizzicletta but it was already packed with at least a 45 minute wait so we walked over to the beer garden instead. It was a great plan b choice and just as delicious! We ordered our food and drink and got it all in seemingly no time! We ordered a Caesar salad (w chicken, potato croutons, and Parmesan breadcrumbs) and the Korean fried chicken Sammie. Deeeeelish! Our friends got the Peruvian chicken tacos which they also enjoyed. Several beers were also ordered (area 66 amber ale, turbulence: cinnamon vanilla latte and 988 hazy are the only ones I remember hearing) which everyone also enjoyed. Everyone we passed Dark Sky Brewing while we were in the area it was packed so I'm glad we made it in at least once while we were there. At least we lucked out with a parking spot that was just down the street. We're looking forward to another visit for more tasty brews and bites! We understand and respect that businesses have policies regarding ID checks and outside food or beverages. However, our experience during our visit was frustrating due to how those rules were enforced and communicated. From the beginning, service felt disorganized. I believe the workers name was Anthony? We were clearly waiting in line when another customer was allowed to step directly in front of us without staff stepping in to manage the situation. Customers shouldn't be expected to create confrontation at the register -- staff should control order flow fairly. When ordering drinks, the interaction already felt uncomfortable. I ordered a Mer-Mosa and politely asked if it could be made extra sweet or with additional purée (and I was completely willing to pay any upcharge). The employee responded hesitantly with something along the lines of, "uhm... yeah I guess I can do that," which immediately made it feel as though a very normal customization request was an inconvenience rather than standard service. Later, while seated on the patio, one member of our group was unable to order because he did not have his physical ID but did have a digital ID which he offered to show. We completely understand ID policies. That said, having previously worked in alcohol service myself, I've never experienced a situation where every individual present was required to present a physical ID simply to order food or non-alcoholic beverages, especially when no alcohol was being purchased. After he left to get food elsewhere, a staff member approached our table and addressed the entire group in a stern and confrontational manner, despite the rest of us not being involved or giving any attitude. The interaction felt more like being scolded than receiving customer service. Staff pointed out drinks across the table -- including an energy drink someone had brought from the drive -- and spoke to us as though we were intentionally breaking rules. We noticed the entrance sign states this is a 21+ bar, which is completely understandable. However, there is no clearly visible notice stating no outside food or beverages or that a physical ID is required for all guests regardless of alcohol purchase. Clear signage would prevent confusion and avoid uncomfortable situations for both staff and customers. We respect businesses enforcing their rules -- the issue was not the policy itself, but the tone and inconsistency in how it was handled. The experience left our group feeling singled out and unwelcome. We also observed another family being asked to leave shortly after ordering, which raises concerns about consistency in enforcement. We hope management reviews how policies are communicated so guests feel respected while rules are still upheld. Will never be returning or recommending. read more

Having completed the Flagstaff Beer Passport, visiting & exploring brewery experiences & brews, I would say Dark Sky had some of my highest rated beer-through the brewery left little to desire- if we lived in the area, they'd be a preferred pick up & go I assume there is frustration with whatever they are experiencing from the city guidelines preventing them from being one full location- resulting in the separation of their brewery & the pizza joint, because oof the two servers, two tabs doesn't seem efficient (managed well)- We were visiting for drinks only- and the service was incredibly slow- took awhile to order our flights- asking questions about the beer & trying to decide preference style felt rushed by the staff, like I was inconvenient for asking if I was just going to order a flight, I should 'just go for it'- which we ended up doing Our flights took awhile to arrive- we ordered 6 brews to try- the glasses had inconsistent pour fills-frustrating since the prices were quite high- $29 for a flight- Overall, yes really good beer- but at higher prices & lower service, not sure that balances out read more

Our group of six was walking around in downtown Flagstaff came across a bright teal colored brewery with a 12ft tall skeleton out front and we knew that we had check this place out! This brewery had a giant dog friendly patio with lots of seating and shade. The inside is an explosion of neon colors and alien art-the vibes here are spectacular. There was a line out the door to order food and drinks-so you know this place has to be good. I ordered a pint of of their Smash Golden Ale, "One Way Or Another" and it was delicious.
