What a unique breakfast! I had the 3 eggs, w/a mild tasteful red chili sauce. This breakfast might be hard to take if you have a hangover, but otherwise it is great. They are getting ready to move to additional space across the street and we are so glad because right now the wait staff must travel a lot more steps to deliver your meal if you eat outside. Food sounded interesting on the menu, but on the plate was just ok. Our server forgot we were there - he was too busy waiting on a larger group - so we watched tables seated after us get their food and finish before our appetizer came. From the street the place looks attractive, but that's the bar side from the outside. It's not that interesting or nice in the backyard outdoor area. The food was OK, the pork in the mayan sauce was too dry and not that much of a flavor, the special, trout stuffed with crab, was good. We also had chips and salsa. As we were leaving, I noticed that the bartender made salsa in his spare time, chopping tomatoes and other stuff and mixing it up. I did not think much of it until a few hours later our stomachs reacted... Just ate dinner here...it was fabulous! Our party had several different dishes and all were delicious,and well portioned for hungry patrons! The guacamole and salsa were freshly made and tasty. The pulpo ( octopus)ceviche was AMAZING,best I have had hands down outside of Mexico! It was so fresh ,perfectly prepared ,large by appetizer standards and the seasoning was perfection. The green burrito was HUGE; , my sister raved about the flavor and taste. She also had the Yucatan salad as an appetizer and was very pleased with the freshness and mixture of all the ingredients.My nephew had the carne asada,which was also a very large portion size.my nephew wore a smile from ear to ear while consuming this dish! I had the conchinita pobil ( marinated roast pork) which was very tender and seasoned with wonderful flavors...served with yellow rice,black beans and plantains( that were prepared to perfection!) all our entrees were filling and satisfying. My nephew had the churros which were yummy and prepared perfectly. We had a wonderful server.Our meal arrived quickly and we were very impressed with all facets of this restaurant. Three of us for dinner and I had great expectations that went down the drain, margarita comes in a highball glass and is pricey. Son ordered the steak fajitas, fajitas usually come to your table sizzling and these were just warm. My shrimp was lukewarm resting atop a mound of cold rice, had to search for our waitress to tell her and she didn't seem to understand that I was displeased with this overpriced meal, I should have called for the manager but will chalk it up to live and learn and not patronize them again. read more

Let me start with; the food is truly wonderful. Getting to that part was not wonderful. We were looking for a place to have dinner before watching the fireworks on the 4th. We looked for restaurants that took reservations. Their website directed us to Open Table and we promptly made a reservation at 6pm. When we arrived I provided the hostess with our name and reservation time. She let me know that she did not have our reservation and that they had called Open Table and canceled their service earlier that morning so there was no way I had a reservation. The hostess was incredibly rude and very unwilling to help us. She told us the only tables were outside (it was 100 degrees!). She then ignored us and helped 2 other parties sit inside before directing us to the incredibly hot outdoors. The remainder of the staff and the food were the redeeming factors to our dinner. Our server was very friendly and the food was amazing. Amazing enough that I am willing to deal with queen b up front and return. read more

Absolutely amazing. The queso was to die for and the steak tacos delicious. We loved the habanero hot sauce!!

I thought the food was ok. We had the guacamole, veggie burrito and tempeh platter. The guacamole was billed as "the best in town" but it was over processed (shiny, not creamy) and too cold. I have made better in 5 minutes at home many times. The veggie burrito was ok, if a bit bland. The tempeh was very good but the rice and beans that came with it needed more flavor. Over all nothing was bad I just don't get all the 5 star reviews for so-so food. The dining area was beautiful and had a very upscale but not stuffy feel to it. This place was rated high, and it shouldn't have been. No acknowledgement on arrival and we had to ask if they were seating still, before they decided to seat us with out reservation. Turned out it was half empty anyway. Plastic cups, no refill on water: just a pitcher left on the table after the server got lazy refilling one drink. The server stated food was coming in 5 minutes after waiting a half hour, but it showed up 45 minutes after that even. The manager attempted to apologize and threw a freebee of 4 alcoholic drinks for the table of 7 to share after we complained. What a slap in the face. Then then included 20% tip on top of it and didn't deserve it. The food tasted okay, but wasn't special. There are so many other places to choose from, pick any other place. read more

This place was great! We sat outside and it was very nice. The ropa veja was amazing :) As an app we had the queso it was a lot different then I expected it to be.... it was more of a solid queso. The food had lots of flavor and the waiters where very friendly and helpful. People around us were raving about how great the drinks were. I would defiently recommend this place! I'm not a foodie, but I eat everything and I love food. Casa Maya was absolutely delicious. I haven't had such a tasty, fresh, well made meal in a long time. Everything made with organic ingredients. Stopped by for lunch on a Friday but the kitchen was behind so they weren't seating people for the next hour. So we made a reservation for the next night. We returned at our reservation time on Saturday evening and were told once again that the kitchen is behind and they weren't seating people. Twice in two days - sounds like an issue that needs to be addressed. So after fighting traffic on a Saturday night downtown and paying $20 for parking, the reservation was not honored so we had to find another restaurant on a Saturday - long wait everywhere! Plus they had our cell number with our reservation, yet didn't call to say that they can't take us. Not worth the risk to walk in or make a reservation since they don't honor it. read more

As Mexican food connoisseurs we found the food average at best and greatly over priced. We had to pay for chips and salsa??? We were there at about 5:30 on a Saturday and got seated quickly. It took a little while for our waiter to take our drink order. We got the red sangria which was basically wine over ice for $8- ish per glass. I had the paella at $28.95 and my wife did the ropa vieja for $21.95. Mine was a good portion with lots of sea food, but i would expect less for the price. Flavor wise was just fair. Bahama breeze has a better taste at a much lower price. My wifes meal was fair but no better than we have had for $5-6 less. Our service left much to be desired. Long wait for everything including 20 minutes to get the check. Nice atmosphere is the beat id say. They have lots of outside seating and music. read more

We stopped by here on recommendation. I unfortunately left my ID at the hotel and the bartender was so adamant about me getting the ID. He was very preoccupied with a couple ladies at the bar. He also said he did not want to serve my husband until I got my ID and came back. My husband tried to order a drink from the menu and the bartender literally said no he would not make it and gave my husband a shot of something that tasted like seawater. So, I'm going to start off by saying that I've been in a restaurant setting since I was a little girl. I am also a local waitress at a neighboring restaurant and fully believe that the customer comes first, (even though all who have been in the service industry know that this is not always the case, especially when it's complaints about petty problems). My boyfriend and I used to be regulars at the bar, because of one bartender that we absolutely LOVED, he was phenomenal each and every visit and we usually only swing around when he was working just because he was on top of everything each and every visit. However, about a month ago was our LAST visit to the establishment and it will remain that way. It was a Saturday night and the bar area was full, although loving the food we decided to try inside for a change. Our waitress was nice upstairs but we were seated right next to the staircase and felt claustrophobic so we moved outside to a table. The service we received was HORRIBLE my boyfriend had ordered a double whiskey neat when we were re-seated. He finished the drink, and we both watched as our server clearly not very busy stared at us from the computer with my lemonade and his alchohol empty. For 20 minutes our glasses remained empty. We understood that it was busy Saturday night and we are both experienced in the food industry as we are both servers with a few years of it under our belts at that. My lemonade was replenished while it took roughly another 10 for her to even offer him another drink. Our food then came out, and halfway through I got up to use the bathroom while my boyfriend had given up on our server for drinks and started a tab at the bar.knowing that we both would be gone for MAYBE four minutes, We left a note on the table explaining we'd be back shortly and that we were still here. and returned to find our table cleared of all food, the server without a word handed my boyfriend the check and walked away. We then called over a manager and explained the scenario that we had just endured, stating that no, we weren't looking for a discount or refund, but instead wanted to inform him of the nights events so that these issues, for other customers sakes weren't repeated in the future, he half heartedly apologized, as we both knew it went in one ear and out the other. We have NEVER complained to a manager because we both know how much that sucks as a server, but the service was so bad we felt almost obligated to. Then we traveled to the outdoor bar where we sat and we're talking to another cool bartender about the nights events, when a shorter man in a fedora approached us (by the name of memo I think?) and interjected obnoxiously to us,"well yeah? If you hate this place so much why the hell do you keep coming back?" Baffled and slightly amused at this point we looked at him, shocked, thinking that this guy can't be serious. He continued to them direct his atrocious attitude to me and said ,"so where do you work?" I replied with the name of my restaurant and this man, a manager said "never f**** heard of it." We had had enough of the entire restaurant at this point, and we have never been talked to so rudely, nor would I ever have a service industry job again if I EVER talked to a customer this way. We picked our stuff up to leave, not wanting to fuel his attitude further as he called after me, 20 feet away from the bar, "let me know when you want to leave that restaurant of yours". Enraged, we walked home never to return again. NEVER will I recommend any of my tables to this restaurant again as I did before, I fact I share my experience quite often. I've even talked to locals who have had similar experiences, absolutely no locals I know come here, and obviously for good reason. read more
