Stopped by for a beer after a morning of hiking. We were fortunate to have Alex take care of us. He was so personable and friendly, quick to make suggestions, and patient with our dog. We ordered the hot wings with sidewinder fries, both delicious. It was a perfect day to sit on the dog friendly patio and enjoy a beer. Alex definitely deserves a shoutout for making the experience amazing! read more

After a long drive from Telluride, we found this place, which had been recommended by our concierge. The food was great. The service was really good for most of it, but then kind of trickled off which is the only reason it is a 4 star review. It's probably more of a 4.5 star. My son had the wings. He is a wings guy. Loved them but they were too hot for him, and he can do hot, so be forewarned. My wife got the cobb and it was fresh, good. My daughter and I shared the Four Corners Steak Sando and the Tatanka. I liked both, but the steak sando was better. The root beer that my son got was one of the best I have had. The beer selections were good - I got a flight. read more

Updating from a prior review. The last two times I have visited Carvers have been more disappointing each time. I thought I was being harsh with a 4star review and now I'm not even feeling bad for 3. We split two apps, and an entree on our last visit. The Nachos are just bad! Cheese was not warm enough, and the flavor was just not there. Would definitely not recommend them! The wings just seem to get worse every time. IDK if there is a new cook or if they changed the sauce recipe but it's nowhere near as good as it used to be. The four corners steak sandwich was my favorite thing. It was pretty good, but my girlfriend did not care for it. Overall I think we may have been to Carvers for our last time. read more

I love taking my out-of-town guests here! Menu changes, but everyone seems to find something they like quite easily!

The beef stroganoff, quesadilla, AND spinach dip were all delicious! Food came out quickly and our server was friendly! Atmosphere of the restaurant was also very cozy and unique! read more

Stopped in for lunch in the middle of a long drive. Enjoyed trying one of the beers. I ordered the four corners steak sandwich, which I typically wouldn't choose, but our waiter said it was one of the most popular items. The sandwich was amazing! Fries were great too! Only disappointment was we weren't told in advance the if we ordered a burger we would get a free beer. That would have changed a couple of our orders. read more

Oh my gosh, the STEAK SANDWICH! Do not pass up on this amazing tasty treat! It's honestly probably the best sandwich I have ever had in my life. My first bite I was SHOCKED at the flavor and was looking around so I could tell everyone how amazing it is. DO NOT HESITATE. read more

This place is massive, it seems big enough as you walk in but there's another bar and beer garden towards the back of the building. The beers are great (pale ale and hazy are awesome), the food is solid and the staff are super friendly! Highly recommend, I think this is the better bet than Steamworks which gets slammed and isn't as good read more

I want to love Carvers and I have had a few decent experiences, but nothing outstanding. I've also had some horrible experiences but I would like to think they have been better the last few years. Except that their best food used to be breakfast and Bloody Mary's, and they should have brought that back by now. Beer is still good though, so I gave an extra star. Their atmosphere is great and I do love the outdoor patio. Otherwise, I've noticed the service is a little less than I'd expect, but someone could have had an off day. read more

We came here because of the overwhelming awesome reviews and photos of brunch! Although the food looks incredible, the taste wasn't what we were expecting. Biscuit and Gravy bread bowl- Looks so delicious, and what a great idea! In our minds it was just okay. Tasted like your typical gravy with nothing to rave about. Eggs baked in avocado- Almost all of the avocado was scooped out leaving the tiniest amount of avocado to leave a little taste. One of my avocados split on the bottom and the egg ran out and was half cooked in the avocado and half cooked outside, leaving the outside overcooked and burnt. It was paired with a side of unflavored rice. I basically paid for toast, rice, 2 eggs and a smidge of avocado. I will give them props on their killer patio. It's got grade shade and the enormous bike makes for some fun photo opps! If you want some beer make sure to come during their happy hour. I'd definitely come back for the beer. read more

Wow the food was amazing!! After a long day of hiking the beer hit the spot. The atmosphere was incredible. Highly suggest this spot.

Had the bison burger and ginger beer (great nonalcoholic choice, not to sweet and very gingery). Was not disappointed. Was told the fries were very good although I did not have any. We came near closing time but the waitress didn't rush us. We sat inside but I think they had an outdoor patio in the back. Typical brewpub ambiance. read more

Don't arrive at 1pm and expect to get fresh "sidewinder" fries. I mean, "they were fresh at 11:30! Come on, people! What do you think this is?! A restaurant?!" I've realized that once the brick and mortar and the staff are paid for, there's very little left for the food. I'm sad. I guess I have to cook everything. read more

Overall good job. Service was good. Although I thought a bit over priced. Ordered the lime chili chicken verde. Very tasty but chicken was chopped up and cold. The chips are out of a bag. read more

Definitely not a bad pick for lunch or dinner in Durango! We went here with some friends and had an overall pleasant experience. I will preface by stating I didn't personally try any of their brews, but my husband really enjoyed their Colorado Trail Nut Brown Ale. The menu was surprisingly diverse for what I expect from a brew pub. There were a myriad of options beyond your typical pub fare. I ordered the green chile stew (cup) and kale quinoa bowl. The green chile stew is one of my favorite things to order off any menu, but I was somewhat disappointed in their rendition of it. It sounded really lovely on paper, especially with the addition of pork, which isn't typical of most stews I've had. That said, the pork in mine was very chewy and dry. The broth and other components of the stew were incredibly tasty and really elevate the dish to one of the better green chile stews I've had. That said, the pork really deterred from that for me. My kale quinoa bowl was excellent. It's mixed with a mint chimichurri, which makes the dish incredibly tasty. I couldn't get enough of it! I added salmon to mine, which was fine, though my cut was a bit on the drier side. Overall, I enjoyed both dishes just fine and especially the pairing together. My husband ordered one of their burgers and I have to say, their fries are very unique and delicious. I'd definitely come back for one of their burgers or the kale quinoa bowl. The prices were also incredibly reasonable. Definitely one of the more affordable options in Durango! The interior was interesting and definitely gave off brewery vibes: the booth we were in was quite comfortable and intimate. The back area is apparently where their brews are made, but generally not visible to the public eye. Service was good overall: our server was nice and very accommodating. Our food came out quickly, which was a pleasant surprise on what seemed like a busier evening. There is plenty of parking on the street nearby (we had no issues finding a space). Not a bad stop in Durango after a day on the mountain or enjoying the outdoors! read more

Had the blue cheese burger and a beer. Staff was super nice and the ambience and cleanliness of the restaurant was on point. My only reservation is that is was a little overpriced for what you got but maybe that's Durango in general. read more

My friend from Durango said her favorite brewery for food was Carver Brewing, so went to check it out for dinner. I'm a fan of malty beers, so I tried their Colorado Trail Nut Brown Ale and it was tasty. If you like malty beers, definitely get it. As far as my entree, I ordered the Tatanka (Colorado Buffalo, smoked cheddar, hatch green chiles, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, garlic aioli). Boy, did Carver deliver with their Tatanka! Definitely a $17 gourmet burger. If I'm in Durango again, will definitively come back. read more

We had a group of 4 and everyone's meal was fantastic. We especially loved the special of the night, Roasted chickpeas and brussel sprout salad. Definitely will be back! Our server (forgot her name...from London) was great as well. read more

Durango's staple. This place is always surprising when it comes to how delicious the food is here and the price. Solid burgers, specials, and beers. You can't go wrong if you're looking for a meal or a chill spot for drinks. read more

So yummy! I love everything on the menu. I highly recommend eating here. Great service.

Great Rueben sandwich and fries. The beer was very good. The best part though was our server. She made our day! So friendly and welcoming!!!

The service was a little lacking- server rarely checked on us, but it was busy. Valentine's Day, you know. Give them the benefit of the doubt there. The food is spot on. I had the four corners steak sandwich, no red peppers, chipotle sauce on the side. The chipotle was spicccccy and it built up in a big way as you ate. The pretzel roll the sandwich is on was a nice balance for the sauce though. The meat was high quality too- not gristly or greasy. We had the salad rather than a side, which was a good choice. Everything was pretty heavy so the salad was a good balance. Our favorite beer was the Raspberry Wheat Ale- just a little bit of bite, a little sweet. We also had a beer flight that included the Powerhouse porter, the flux incapicatator, the vapor trail IPA, and the Barleywine. The porter was perfect- very heavy on the coffee, but not too bitter. The flux had a citra hop that is the key flavor and freaking delicious. The others were nothing to write home about, but drinkable. The root beer is made with local honey, and was so good! Highly recommend their float for dessert. We also had the raspberry creme brûlée, which had a coarse rock crystal sugar on top instead of the finer sugar crust. It was good, but not as exciting as the root beer. read more

Carver Brewing has a bit of a UK pub vibe in the heart of downtown Durango. They have a variety of beer to cater to most tastebuds. I enjoyed a pint of the brown and sampled a handful of the others. They have a small bar with a couple of TVs and then a bunch of tables in the back. This is a much smaller space than another larger brewery up the road. We had dinner here as well which was tasty and came out quickly. Of all things I picked a quinoa salmon curry bowl (at a brewery? yup) and it was delicious. The desserts looked awesome but the ice cream shop across the street was calling our name. read more

We rolled into town hungry and ready for some local brews. Right in the middle of the main drag through Durango is Carver. We found parking pretty easily on the street for lunch during the week, but I can see where it might be harder during busy times. They have an outdoor seating area set up out front for more seating. We sat inside and I was really digging the vibe. Our server Pam M. was fantastic. She was helpful, prompt, and friendly. I ordered a flight so we could try many things. My hubby ordered the Vapor Trail IPA and really enjoyed it. I liked everything I tried. I thought the flight was a little pricey though compared to other breweries. We split the nachos and they weren't as big as I expected for the price. We were still hungry so we split the green chili burger. I was not a big fan of the sidewinder fries. The burger and the nachos were very good though especially for food at a brewery (which I have found to be very hit or miss). Overall I would recommend this place, but do think it is a bit pricey. read more

Great brewery off Main St. We sat on the back porch and enjoyed a few of the brews. We ordered the steak nachos, a caesar salad and the soup of the day - the steak nachos were delicious! We made our way through a few of the beers- my favorites were the scotch ale and the IPA! read more

Incredible food and super friendly service. Only in Durango for less than 24 hours and I'm happy somebody randomly recommended this place. Bree was a great server and I never felt unattended even though I was the only person sitting outside. Only complaint (not their fault) is my dogs had to stay in the car or be tied to a tree away from me. That definitely did not affect the 5 star rating as that is a city thing, not a restaurant thing. Highly recommend the Mexican scramble with chorizo and the hipster cocktail of deliciousness. read more

Great food nice atmosphere great friendly staff. Great beer, Highly recommended restaurant

Had a great brunch experience yesterday. Some friends and I came in around 11, sitting at a hightop in the back brewpub area. Our waiter took drink orders, which arrived right as we made decisions concerning food. The beers were well-received. I enjoyed a 13 oz. pour of the Big Bike double IPA, a hoppy 8.1% ABV brew with citrus notes and a balanced flavor profile. My girlfriend chose the Iron Horse oatmeal stout, a pitch-black beer with a chocolate and caramel finish. My other companion spoke highly of his tulip glass of Leo's Belgian Tripel, mentioning that he would have liked to see ABV's on display. (Just ask someone who works there, friend.) For food, I chose the Four Corners steak sandwich, with potatoes on the side. Served on a warm, soft pretzel bun, this sandwich arrived with steak spilling over the sides, red peppers and onions mixed in with meat, with a light but fair amount of melted Swiss cheese on top. Every bite was delicious, meat tender and seasoned, vegetables adding texture and flavor. I could also do with more of the chipotle sauce next time. Potatoes were awesome too. I got to try some of the green chile stew, which opted for a rich, smooth flavor by compromising a little on the chile heat. The pork was soft, the potatoes crumbly. Our bowl of stew came with a pile of tortilla chips, good either for scooping up broth or crumbling on top for a crunchy mouthfeel. This would be a smart pairing alongside one of the cheesier sandwiches. Overall, strong first impression. Everything was way above average and I'm happy with our decisions. read more

This place was amazing. We have been in Durango for the week and wanted to eat dinner there one more time. Great service, great food and great atmosphere. Carvers is one of those iconic Durango restaurants/brewery. Actually the first brewery in the 4 corners area. I don't drink so I can't tell you about the libations, but I can tell you all about thier gastric pub food. Probably the only reason I haven't given them 5 stars is because thier prices are a little high, but very competitive with other downtown main street locations, ironically. The decor is very....steampunk? Modern industrial with that nice vintage antique feel with cool old accessories, copper, and pipes, I like it, it's fun. Also in the summer they have a very nice back patio that won't bake you in the sun, unless you really want a full sun table. The food here is great. They always run daily specials, plus a fairly diverse menu. I noted today thier menu has some dishes with that popular Asian flair. My Boyfriend got a Rodeo burger with sidewinder fries.(cheesy name.. I know, I thought that too) he enjoyed the meal, but found the barbecue sauce very sweet. I got the daily special soup Lamb stew, which was amazing savory goodness. I ordered it in a bread bowl, with a side salad. It's my humble opinion all soup should be served in a bread bowl. I don't care what you carb haters think either. The bread bowl is a marvelous invention and impowers your soup, fills your tummy, and saves on dishes. And who doesn't like less dishes? Carvers really is a great watering hole for locals and tourists alike. Try thier homemade root beer, it's not too sweet, and truly is a good alternative to alcohol. read more

Okay, Yelp, I just got back from my first trip to Durango, so get ready for a ton of Durango reviews! Carver was actually our last stop on the way out of town. We had a quick brunch here Sunday morning. We sat at the bar and chatted a bit with the bartender, who was super friendly. I had the Mexican Scramble and it was soooo good. Pretty similar to migas, which are usually my go to, but the green chili was a nice touch. My boyfriend got the Reubenedict, which is a super fun named dish. He says it was great - I'll take his word for it as I'm not a big sauerkraut fan. Next Durango trip my goal is to find mimosas that are less than $8. I mean, we still ordered them because it WAS brunch, but $8? $8!? It really takes me through a range of emotions starting with outrage and ending in devastation. Anyhoo, prepare your mind and soul for $8 mimosas and this place is worth checking out. There was a bit of a crowd on Sunday morning at 10ish, but we were able to grab bar seats without any issue. read more

Good food, great bloody Marie's, and quickly friendly service. Thank you for a great visit

Cool spot for great beer and okay food. We had a couple different IPAs and a pale which were all excellent. We had the Chicken Chile Verde which was fine and disappointingly served with generic store brand bland tortilla chips. We also had the salmon pesto pasta which was fine but not great. Great atmosphere on the patio. Beer to go options, but you have to wait for the busy bartender to ring you up (which took quite a long time). read more
