I've been coming to this location when it was farquarts. It's been many things since then. Loved the trees inside and their great use of used doors to make quaint seating areas if you want to be romantic or hang out with friends. Great full bar too. When I ordered what I thought was a smash burger I was surprised to see the size of this thing! It was huge, could barely eat half of it. Service was great! Nice happy hour specials too. Having frequented this place many times, I'm always amazed at the painstaking lengths that the owner went to provide a pleasant dining experience, good food, high quality ingredients, and a pretty excellent value relationship-- Only to hire incompetent servers. Tonight I was placed alone next to a window, with the server barely spending more than 10 seconds waiting on me--in 50 minutes. Instead, he doted over all of the large groups in my vicinity, promised me a refill on the iced tea, watched me sit there waiting for 30 minutes for a refill, and never provided such. You got it. When I was handed the electronic payment machine...Yupp... he literally stares me down like a back alley shakedown artist. In addition to wearing a scuzzy unkept beard, not advisable for food servers, right?, he actually seems visibly upset when I gave him 16% tip, even asking me "was something wrong?" I know that we are in a small town, and Durango is feeling its growing pains, transitioning from a mountain/railroad rural tourist haven to a high profile mountain resort. But this was so obvious, that it ruined the experience. The burger was well executed and had a nice patina, offering a rewarding crunchy patty exterior. People on the back patio were getting great video of the steam trains coming and going. My caprese salad was great, and the cocktail menu is inspiring. We were visiting our son and his fiancée and came here for dinner. It was a Saturday night and the place was busy. Still, we got a table within 15 minutes. The inside was very cool, with a few tables inside little rooms with windows, and our table was up a small flight of stairs with a few other tables. Our area was Alice in Wonderland themed, with a twisted cabinet and clock (as if you were on drugs), and framed sayings of different Alice characters. There is patio seating. My wife and I had a mandarin orange and almond slivered spring salad with a wonderful lemon vinaigrette dressing, and I had grilled chicken on mine. My wife also got two carne asada tacos she really liked. Our son ordered a flatbread pizza and his fiancée a caprese salad. All the food was delicious. Our son had two beers,his fiancée two mixed drinks, my wife a margarita, and myself a beer. $157 before tip. So, not inexpensive. Ugh. Food was actually ok but the service and attitude was so toxic and patronizing it was the worst experience I have had in years. I worked foodservice for a long time and would never blame, dismiss and insult patrons in the way that our server and the manager did. We were 12 people, and four of us were seated in a position where the setting sun was directly in our eyes. The four of us spent the entire meal, either with a menu in front of our faces, or sitting away from the table, far enough that we had to put plates on our laps because we could not sit at the table without being blinded. The manager blamed us for not moving to a seat on the other side of the table, which quite frankly we could not see because of our position. When we ordered appetizers, our server said we did not designate them as appetizers, and therefore it would come out with the rest of our meal. The other half of the table, the part that could see, had ordered appetizers and got them about 20 minutes before the rest of us got any food. What we had considered appetizers came out, literally two minutes before the entrées, and our server proudly announced that he had brought them out as appetizers. Using a trauma informed approach, I am so sorry for whatever happened to these people. As I started with, the food was actually not bad. But the attitude, the fact that they just did not care about their guests, and chose to blame us for their feelings would prohibit me from recommending this restaurant to anybody ever anywhere. read more

I'm in Durango for a short stay and Derailed Pour House instantly became my go-to spot. It's an easy 8-minute walk from the DoubleTree, which makes it perfect for a solo dinner or a relaxed night out. Since I was solo, I grabbed a seat at the bar -- and I'm so glad I did. The staff was over-the-top friendly, the kind of team that makes you feel welcome the moment you sit down. Not every place gets hospitality right, but these guys absolutely do. I ordered the Cuban, and it surprised me in the best way. They use BBQ in the sandwich, so it's a different take than the traditional style -- but it was incredibly tasty. I liked it so much I ordered a Philly cheesesteak to go, and that didn't disappoint either. Make sure you try the craft cocktails. They do flavors well -- thoughtful, balanced, and creative without being over the top. You can't go wrong trying a few. The atmosphere is friendly, warm, and easy to settle into. Huge portions and a solid 7/10 for both. Also went with their house Negroni to wash it down. The drink was refreshing and left me wanting another. My daughters and I had the pleasure of dining here a couple months ago. We shared some appetizers and all were delicious. The cocktails were unique and so good. We couldn't decide which one we liked best. We especially appreciated our waiter. He was on top of things and was quite funny - just an all around great personality. The decor was very warm and cozy with lighted trees and old doors surrounding some of the tables for privacy. So pretty! Pretty cool place located in downtown Durango. So glad I found this place on Yelp! Service was attentive, drinks were super yummy, and the food was good. I ordered the Margherita flatbread and it was really flavorful with the arugula on top. I also had the southwest fries, which were really good and the drink I had was The Cure and it was super refreshing. When I was doing my research to come to Durango this place got very high marks. It didn't disappoint. The food, drink, atmosphere were all top notch. He eavesdropped on the conversation I was having with friends, inserted himself directly into the conversation without an invitation, and then ignored me all THREE times that I told him I did not want to continue the conversation with him. Let me just start by saying my positive take on this restaurant; the cocktail list is extensive and fun, and the drinks were good. Also, they have a nice ambiance with diverse music. On the downside, the food is not good. I had a southwest salad which had maybe 5 pieces of lettuce and was covered in cheese. I also had an avocado taco that was cold and bland. I expected maybe a fried avocado slice or something, but no. My partner got chicken tacos and he said they were ok. We were in a time crunch and took what we could get, as most places were closing. Our server was really nice and fast when we asked for the check, which we paid without looking it over. Our mistake, as we were charged for extra food we didn't order. For example, I received one taco for $4 but was charged for two... like I said, my drink was good! read more

There are cozy seating arrangements partially partition off by antique doors for a truly unique atmosphere. I wound up sitting outside on a very comfortable sectional in a well heated area where our waiter Brian took great care of us. They have an extensive cocktail list along with spirits and drafts. This place is meh for us. We've visited 3 or 4 times and been consistently UNDERwhelmed by the experience here. The good: nice live music and fun decor. Also has a large enough menu that there's something for everyone. The bad: the quality of the food is inconsistent and the orders have been prepared wrong each time we've visited. Additionally, it's really only for a small group (2 or 4 people) and if you're seating more than 4, you have to sit at a high-top where you can't sit up to the table because there's barrels in the way of your legs. So you're sitting very far away from the table and everyone you're with. The service is also PAINFULLY slow and you can't find someone when you need something... so if your order comes out wrong, you're taking that plate back to the kitchen yourself because nobody is around to help you. We're probably not going back - it's just not a good fit for us and too much hassle for the price. read more
