We started with the Bavarian pretzel, which was served with beer cheese and mustard. It was delicious and fresh! I then had the southwestern burger, which is always a favorite of mine because of the green chilis. The burgers are always cooked nicely (I order medium) and I was able to substitute a side salad, which was easily one of the best side salads I've ever had at a brewery. We are doing dry January, so no beers this time, but had a lovely hop water that they brew there and even left with a growler full. Highly recommend Steamworks for an authentic Durango experience or if you're just trying to catch a game or hangout with friends. It definitely has fun, local brewery vibes. Just around the corner from Carver, this spot has dedicated prkg (so you don't have to worry about the parking meters during the weekdays), which is a nice perk in dwntwn Durango! Massive indoor seating and bar area (outside patio seating as well) with fully backed and swivel barstools (which I luv! Not sure why so many places have the backless variety). Staff was courteous and checked in frequently (also kept my water glass full, which I great appreciate especially when working through a 7 taster flight!)! Due to the dynamics of kids, sometimes you can go to a restaurant and enjoy yourself or you have to run out because one of your spawn's is having a meltdown. This visit to steam works was the latter so we didn't get to try any of the adult dishes, but what we got was pretty good. The nachos are served up on a platter so they are huge and the side of salmon we ordered was large and broiled to a medium well. Stopped into Steamworks for dinner after a long soak at the hot springs. Our server, Russell, was very friendly and on top of making sure that my friend who has some food allergies got the right ingredients in her order. I got the curry pumpkin soup and a dirty burger with fries. The pumpkin soup was yummy and flavorful. The dirty burger was delicious. The bacon jam and dirty sauce provided the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I wish I had gotten it as a kid's burger, though. The beer selection is really good and the cocktails almost blew me away on the menu. Came here on New Year's Eve after driving 8 hours to Colorado, they took our party of 7 and luckily we were able to join a waitlist ahead of time. I liked my chocolate espresso martini there, it tasted like chocolate milk but was pretty good. I loved the fries here, but I got the bacon cheeseburger and it tasted pretty average. There was nothing special about it and it honestly was pretty bland and needed like more flavor or sauce on it or something. We've been coming to Steamworks for years and had always brought guests there and we all raved about their pizza, especially the Maui Wowie. So much so that our friends wanted to figure out a way to have it shipped to the East coast when they weren't in town. Sadly, we noticed a change last year but it was still pretty decent. Tonight we picked up two pizzas drove home anxiously awaiting our dinner. BLEH!!! Crust was VERY dry and heavy and toppings weren't much better. Not sure if and when the recipe changed but think about bringing the larger size pizzas and the original recipe back!! I would not recommend this version at all. Granted, it was Saturday noon during the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally, so the staff at the bar (not tables) probably weren't expecting two tourists from Arizona who were in Durango to look at family graves to order food, even though we were handed menus and looked at them and put them down, but, after 1 round of drinks served, no server came back to take our food order. Eh. Our beers were good. Our server said the fish and chips was the most popular item on the menu so I ordered it. It is NOT a nice thick cod loin piece. No, 3 small and THIN pieces with twice as much breading as fish. So completely disillusioned. Fries were cool. Finally got some good and hot ones but we were finished eating before they came out. We were visiting Durango and looking for a good lunch, when our friends recommended this place. Among our group, we had a burger, fish and chips, a couple salads and a gyro. Other than the burger being a little dry (too lean of a cut), the food was quite delicious. The service was good although refilling waters was a little slow. The atmosphere is typically bar - lots of TVs playing different games. All in all a pretty good restaurant. The only bad part was the 3% junk fee they attached to the bill. It is NOT the customers' responsibility to pay employees properly - it is the employers'. Many states are outlawing these unethical fees and I hope Colorado is next to do so. All it does is end up leaving the server with a 17% tip. Bad policy. read more

We had a great experience here on a Sunday afternoon! There was a wait for tables, and the place was pretty packed for a Sunday outside of peak lunch/dinner hours. I think we got here around 3:30 or 4? The hostess told us there was a 20 minute wait, but we luckily found two seats at the bar almost right away. The bartender was wonderful and got our food and drink orders in fast. They had multiple TV's playing various games. Although neither of us were watching, the guy next to us requested a game and they were able to change the TV to the game he wanted to watch. I got their Everyday is Sunny sandwich with portabella mushrooms, zucchini, tomato, provolone cheese, cilantro lime aioli, sunflower sprouts, on a ciabatta roll. It was really yummy! I also got their fries and they were deliciously crispy, just how I like them I also got their Bubbles seltzer, and unfortunately they had run out when I went to order a second pint.
