First time we've had dinner here. It was wonderful! Good beer, food and service! They've made an outside patio in front of of the restaurant which was very nice to set and have dinner. They also have an outside beer garden in the back of the restaurant which is very nice. My husband and I had salads, green chili stew and broccoli cheese soup which were excellent! Can't remember what the guys had but they loved what they had. Food was delicious! Our servers name was Elle? or something like that and she was great! Highly recommend trying this place! read more

I've been to Carvers a few times now. They have a nice selection of brews however; I've gotten sick from their food the last 2 times I've been there. My daughter who has a stomach of steel also got sick this time around. Not sure what's going on there. Their service is hit and miss. Some days are definitely better then others. Edit - Response to owner: Hello there, thank you for responding I appreciate your time. I was not questioning the cleanliness of restaurant or kitchens, the fact that both of us got sick and much of our food was improperly made and cold doesn't help the case of us getting sick in my opinion. The mushrooms in my daughters quesadilla were burnt, cold and tasted dirty. The fries with my sandwich were cold along with the meat, sauerkraut and bun. The restaurant did remake my daughters quesadilla but put green chilies on it when we requested it without. I saw your kitchen (to a point) going to the restroom after i finished eating and saw one of the cooks wipe his nose with his hand. Could be another reason why we got so sick. Took everything I had not throw up in the restroom. Lastly, I must say no one or place is prefect off days will happen. I may have just been unlucky enough to have shown up on two of those days. read more

Good food, great service. And we were seated where we asked in the open air of the restaurant.

This is a great place to stop for drinks, lunch or dinner. Situated right on Main Street in downtown Durango. They have a great selection of craft beers, delicious appetizers, along with burgers, salads and sandwiches. This place never disappoints when I'm in town for a visit. read more

Best burger in the San Juan's if you ask me. Cute back patio. Super nice staff. Great beers. Hubs got the steak salad and it was insanely yum as well. read more

There has definitely been some recent changes to Carver's that leaves me not wanting to return. Carver's has really toned down their menu selection in recent years, and because of their limited selection is the main reason I no longer frequent this place. Now their menu is dominated with starches and salads. Their burgers have cut back on the portion of meat and it is stuffed with a salad to fill out the bun. The Tatanka bison burger is significantly smaller and the veggies dominate the sandwich. Their famous Pink Raspberry Wheat Beer is but a shadow of its former self. It's no longer pink, which denotes the once abundant amount of raspberries used to make such a tasty beer (which was once boasted about in advertising). Now is rather beige and just tastes like a wheat beer. There's nothing truly raspberry about it anymore. Sidewinder fries, which I have no idea why I order these every time, is dry and has all the signs of sitting underneath a heat lamp. I keep ordering these thinking that I am going to have a different, enjoyable experience. My mistake. If you like salmon those dishes seem to be better compensated in the protein department. Alas, I don't like salmon, so I choose from their other offerings. The neighboring table had a reuben that looked stacked, but I can make a deli sandwich at home. Is what I am experiencing shrinkflation, supply chain issues, or the new normal (the go-to term circa 2020)? The cost for dining here has distinctly gone up and the quality and value is worthy of scrutiny. At the time of this review Carver's is now offering their brews canned, but holy hoot, the prices are staggering ($12.50-$14.99 per six pack, if remembered correctly). They are offering 25% off your second six pack if you buy two sixers at a minimum of $25 total! Wow. If you can afford to take 25% of a second six pack I would bet that you can take 25% off all six packs and perhaps move more product. Move that pricing from $12.50-$15 to a sensible $9.38-$11.25. The service was pleasant. They typically nail it in the service department. read more

Happy it's open again! It closed for a while during the pandemic, so happy it survived. Many great restaurants in Durango were not able to stay in business. Dashed in for a quick lunch. I ordered the chili. It was great with green chilies and pork. It packed some spicy heat. But was so delicious!! The menu looks updated. Wish I was in town to try more offerings. I'll be back ! read more

Not just based on a few visits, but the sum total of coming here for 22 years, this place is awesome. We first discovered it when the airfield was snowed in and couldn't leave. Friends suggested Carvers for breakfast. Since then we make Carvers our first stop after landing in DRO. In the summer, has great patio out back. If there is a wait, hang in there and wait for your table, it's worth it. The beers are among the best micro brews in the west, no kidding. Have brought growlers back home to PHX it's so good. The food is better than most brewpubs. Can't go wrong with any food on the menu. Now in the winter they have stew, chili, and beer/ broccoli soup in either bread bowl or as pot pie- outstanding. Service has always been top notch. Staff is on top of table service and friendly. This spot has become a long standing tradition for us. read more

Good food, great beer!!! Cool vibe. Will definitely go back. The staff was nice and friendly.

Good food and beer. I like the vegetarian options too. The outdoor area has a giant bicycle. It's very cute and pretty outside.

This is Durango's hidden gem. They have some of the best beer, even compared to Ska, Steamworks and Animas. This is where the locals go and they've been brewing beer here for over thirty years! My favorites are the Lightner Creek Lager and La Plata Pilsner. This time we had a flight of four: Lightner Creek lager 4.4%, Yankee Boy NE IPA (super hazy and non-transparent) 6.3%, Raspberry Wheat ale 5.2%, and Her Majesty 5.4%, which is a blueberry berliner weisse. The raspberry wheat ale was a standout, and I ordered a pint of the Jackrabbit Pale ale with a little of the raspberry wheat ale mixed in. The bartender told me I stumbled onto the local's secret drink, it's actually called a Silly Rabbit. My wife ordered a pint of the NE IPA which was super thick and juicy. I had the mac and cheese which is Gemelli pasta with white cheddar sauce topped with toasted bread crumbs. The food is always good here and if you want good, not mass produced beer than visit here. It's where the locals go. read more

The Cobb Salad was a great balance of fresh, crisp greens with toppings: crispy bacon, bleu cheese, tomatoes. The hamburger was mighty beefy but the bun held up well with the juices from the perfectly cooked well done moist burger. The beer was cold and excellent! The outdoor area is comfortable and a great place to enjoy lunch in the sun. Inside area seems dark when one has an outside option. read more

For this spot, I say come for the beer only and leave it at that. I had a cocktail Sangria and it was not that good. We also tried their breakfast. It was also not the best. The hubby's Huevo's Ranchero was very bland. And even after addings gobs and gobs of salt, we were still not pleased with this dish. I went for the Green Chile Philly Omelette. It was not that bad, mostly because it was covered and smothered in cheese, which you can't go wrong with. Bottom line: The place is trendy and casual, the beer selection is good, the cocktails, not so much. The food is not great. If you are looking for breakfast in Durango, I recommend trying somewhere else. Follow me on my way to Foodietown! http://britneygfoodie.yelp.com read more

This place did not disappoint. The pretzel with cheese dip was so good! Rueben and burgers were also amazing!

Carver didn't disappoint, nice inside and out food was good along with good service. I would definitely recommend.

Food was ok but the service was rough. Super rude and short and the place isn't the cleanest.

Wonderful burgers, great service, Patrick R is a JEM. Will definitely be back. My wife had the burger with hatch chilies and it was epic. The fries look weird but tasted great! read more

Beer... it's not just for breakfast anymore! First of all, we tried several beers and all were good. I settled on the Raspberry Wheat. Exceedingly friendly and efficient service from Mary. She was super patient as we decided on our beer and breakfast pairings. I had the huevos rancheros and it was delicious!!! Very good green chile sauce, fresh corn tortillas, and perfectly cooked eggs. The breakfast potatoes are delicious, as well. It was a lot of food!! Husband had the chorizo breakfast quesadilla special and really liked his, as well. Will definitely make a point of returning here next time we are in Durango! read more

UPDATE: On the restaurant's website it says they serve breakfast until 12 on the weekend but they routinely tell people they are done serving breakfast when they arrive at 1135-1140. Just say arrive by 1130 if that's what you want people to do! I've been coming here for about 8-9 months, mostly on the weekend for breakfast and have always really enjoyed the food. However, the last three months I have been looking forward to coming for breakfast less and less. My favorite part of their breakfast menu are the potatoes. When I first began eating here they were finely chopped and served crispy. Ever since I have returned from winter break they have been getting increasingly undercooked and mushy. I request them cooked extra crispy and they are barely done on the outside and raw on the inside. It's a big disappointment because the rest of their breakfast is very good. I have mentioned this several times and had hoped for improvement but this morning was the same horrible thing. I'll probably just start eating breakfast at college drive until I hear this is fixed. read more
