I recently tried Carson's Kitchen and while I've been here before back when they first opened, we were in the area for a show and decided to stop by. Service was great everyone with friendly and if you've never been inside it has a great rooftop patio and ambience is classic modern hipster flair. Ambiance and service were not the issue, And while this review is not meant to cast doubt on all their food...the two items were tried were sooooo disappointing. We ordered two things. Fried Chicken Skins w/ Honey and the Black Rice Oxtail Risotto. The chicken skins had no taste. Seems like what ever flavor their were trying to accomplish was dusted on after the frying and well it just did not hit. I honestly think it was paprika. I think the skins would have paired better with the honey if they had taste of their own, but it was basically like eating flavorless chicken skin with an overpowering honey dip. Now this Oxtail Risotto really broke my heart. I think this dish has the potential to be their star meal, much like the Short Rib Fried Rice at Le Thai (praise Jesus for that dish), but this black rice concoction is was such a let down. The idea is there but when I tell you this thing had NO FLAVOR. Like none. You did taste the cheesiness of the risotto which is nice but there needed to be a spice there. The oxtail was not seasoned in any way, it couldn't be! I think had they treated the oxtail like a Caribbean person would and seasoned that bad boy, it would have done its job to break out the uniqueness of this dish. But when it's just a ball of blackness which totally intrigues you, but then lets you down with it's a lack of flavor smh, its like what did i just ear. I never throw away food, but I just dumped the leftovers because it just wasn't worth eating...tasted like nothing‍ I know you can do better Carson's Kitchen. I will be back!! read more

This might be my favorite restaurant in Vegas. It has my favorite dessert of all time with the glazed donut bread pudding. The butter burger is amazing. Deviled eggs are bomb. Pretty much can't go wrong. If I lived closer I'd go every week. read more

This place is so good. I found this with a group trip in Vegas a few years ago and was blown away with the amazing menu of food and drink options, so I was happy to return again this past week. I didn't see an easy way to make a reservation online, well mostly because they were not on Open Table, but it did seem possible. However on a Sunday night, we walked in without a reservation and only had to wait 10 minutes. I love how their menu is a mix of small bites and then some entrees. My friend raved about the crispy chicken skin so we got that. I enjoyed the deviled eggs and tempura green beans as well, and the shrimp was delicious. I loved the chicken sandwich as well. I've been dreaming of coming back here for the hot dog burnt ends for 2 years! Those were incredible as always (and I will continue to dream about them) but the shrimp blew our minds and became a new favorite! My husband and i ordered deviled eggs, pork belly and chicken skin to share. It was just enough for us to feel satisfied. We were seated at the bar since we had no reservations. Food came out pretty fast and it was well prepared and delicious. Ambiance is kinda dark but not a bad thing. The bar had the price is right playing from the 80's which made for some good conversation especially with people sitting next to you. The bar tender was nice and friendly. The only thing I would suggest is that you make reservations. I would also suggest that the business add reservations needed or suggested on their yelp page. Delicious! We ordered the most popular Crispy Chicken Skins, "Devil's Eggs", Chicken Thighs, and Pork Belly. Everything are great except the Pork Belly, it is just so so to me, as it is not as crispy. I won't order that next time. BTW, out Uber drove by and couldn't locate this restaurant. When we got off the Uber, we thought this restaurant is closed, you can't really tell much from outside, but once you open the door, the inside is another world. So don't just drive through and think it is permanently closed. Get off the car and try to open the door ;-) read more

We were looking for a highly rated eatery in Las Vegas that's not part of a large hotel as we did not want to deal with expensive paid parking and large crowds (however, most of the California crowd is gone by Sunday evening).... Carson Kitchen definitely did not disappoint! Top spots for the meatloaf and risotto that paired beautifully with the Big Dog Lager and Birch Beer. Nice ambiance with almost all patrons being guests from out of town.... lovely service as well! We ended up here after spending a lot of time trying to find a place we could go after getting into town on a Friday night. Fortunately we were able to get a late reservation here. I took the advice of many of the people on here to help with ordering (and with the help of our server), and it ended up being quite the amazing meal. The Crispy Chicken Skins were good, the Devil's Eggs were awesome, the Bacon Jam was really good, the Chicken thighs were very good, the Baked Mac and Cheese was good, and the Iron Chef Burger was really good. I liked the Bourbon Fudge Brownie much more than the Donut Bread Pudding for dessert. My wife also got the "Just the Tip" drink and it was one of the better drinks we've had. The restaurant was pretty loud with the music playing, but that is the only even slightly negative thing I would say about this place. It is a highly recommended place in my book. read more

We came for their Easter Brunch but were delighted to discover we could also order from their regular menu as we had enjoyed eating dinner there in the past. The small parking lot at 6th and Carson is right behind the restaurant & is just three or four dollars. We enjoy looking at the murals painted on the walls next to the lot. From the outside, you wouldn't think such a fabulous restaurant awaits you. We sat in the courtyard as it was a beautiful day out. We still could hear the fun music they play inside. Service has always been fine at CK. On our last visit, we sat at the bar and had a great time talking to the bartender while lavishing on their pecan-crusted halibut and unique meatloaf. Angel took care of us this trip and could not have been more fantastic! Several times she brought us a new pitcher of ice water and gave us many recommendations on the food and the drinks. She even adjusted our umbrella to block the sun after we had been there a while. We love having variety in our meals so we ordered four different small plates, also realizing we could take home what we couldn't finish. If you haven't had it, a required item is their baked mac and cheese. We couldn't resist the tempura green beans with the flavored cream cheese which is prepared perfectly (and a good-sized social plate!) From the brunch menu, we feasted on the Shrimp and Grits and Oatmeal Brulee. The grits were nice and crispy and had the right amount of sausage gravy with the dish. We didn't know what to expect with the Brulee but were pleasantly surprised. There were plenty of pecans along with the chantilly cream and a nice bourbon sauce. Our drinks were good. My wife really liked her "Bubbles Is My Dancin' Name" cocktail and I savored sipping on my "That's My Jam" bloody mary, although it was just a little spicier than I normally like. Personally, Carson's Kitchen has a nice selection of beers. It was fun talking with Angel who helped fill us in on how the downtown area has changed since we last lived in the Vegas Valley. I did a good tour and this was the first stop. We were given 4 small portions of different items: Crispy Chicken skins, Devil's eggs, Foie butter and jello Sando and rainbow cauliflower. It was all delicious but the Devil's eggs were my favorite. All the dishes had some interesting twist. The restaurant decor was cool. We sat at the bar and you could watch the chef make the food which was a cool touch. The interior was clean and they had a cute little outside courtyard that you could sit in. Our son gave his mother a birthday gift of a meal at Carson Kitchen. He's the kind of guy that does thorough reviews on everything he's interested in buying. And he pretty much always gets it right. He got it right with Carson Kitchen. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at this restaurant. Parking was a breeze, and not expensive. The restaurant has a hip, small sized coolness to it. The server was friendly and not at all in a hurry. He was our menu coach, starting off with a great explanation how the offerings might best be enjoyed. Even though we'd already come to our own conclusions before he took our orders, in the end, we decided to take the approach he suggested. And, we're so glad we did. It was an amazing meal. We ordered a Butter Burger to split between us, as well the Gyro Tacos. And we added the Spring Asparagus for a veggie. The Butter Burger came with crispy, delicious Tater Tots, with a BBQ dipping sauce. All of that was more than enough food for the both of us. But then he mentioned a treat for the next time we visited (we'd already told him we'd be back). The treat: the Glazed Donut Bread Pudding. He'd told us this dessert was "to die for." I don't know if I'd actually take a bullet for a bite, but it was delicious. Never had anything quite like it. It was a great spouse date for the two of us (her birthday was on May 29).
