The hosts working on Tuesday evening were incredibly quick, organized, and genuinely embodied what true hospitality should look like. From the moment we arrived, everything was seamless. What could have easily turned into a stressful and disappointing evening was completely turned around thanks to this amazing team. They also have unlimited drink options but we chose single cocktails- they were delicious. We were seated outside by the pool; it was a bit loud and the service just a tiny bit slow, but we felt like everything was perfect. We tried many small plates- all creative and delicious! We came for the weekend brunch at Border Grill and did the unlimited small plates with bottomless mimosas.... definitely the way to go. The portions come out small, but that's kind of the point. It lets you try a bunch of different dishes without getting stuck with something you don't love. Honestly, everything we had was really good.... flavorful, fresh, and came out pretty quickly. The bottomless mimosas were solid and consistently refilled (no long waits, which matters). Service overall was friendly and attentive without being over the top, which made the whole experience feel easy and relaxed. For the last three concerts my friend and I attended at Allegiant stadium in Las Vegas, we have stayed at the Luxor hotel which is connected to Mandalay Bay. This makes it convenient for us to walk over to the stadium. Most recently, we dined at Border Grill Mandalay Bay before a Bruno Mars concert. The Mexican restaurant offers a plentiful gluten free menu which was great for us since one of our friends is gluten sensitive. The menu features tacos, enchiladas, salads, and entrees. The tacos and enchiladas come in threes and they allow you to mix and match so you can customize your plate. I had the enchiladas and they were delicious. I had some of my friends fish - pescado zarandeado - which was recommended by our server. That dish was stellar. A great choice for drinks and food before your next concert! read more

Best AYCE brunch on the Strip. This is a buffet that is brought to you by- you order 3-4 small plates at a time and they are quickly delivered to your table. We loved that the meal wasn't broken up by jumping up and down for more food and also loved that we knew someone hadn't sneezed on the tongs as can happen in buffets. The food itself was great - a nice variety of savory and sweet. We especially loved the horchata french toast, the chicken and churro waffles (they have a kick!) and the campechana. Highly recommended to make a reservation if you want to eat here. We arrived at 1ish in the afternoon, two adults with a baby in a stroller...took a little for the young lady to find a spot for us. She eventually found a table that could accommodate us on the patio. Mind you, today is very windy and they also have the heaters above on, so it's a strange feeling sitting out here. It's very loud, but we're in Vegas so that's to be expected. We sat here for a while waiting for our server. We never got any water or chips like the other tables. Very disappointing that it took about 15 minutes until our server came to our table and asked if she could get us a drink. I ordered a white peach lemonade mocktail and it was a great refresher. We also asked for water and it took a good 5 minutes to get those. Also got the Guac of the Month, which was basically their typical guac with bacon and garlic, very good. It's pleasing to the eye as well, topped with kale (she can eat that) HA! We ordered tacos, spicy shrimp, fish, and carne asada. The plate comes with three tacos, beans and rice; you may either get all 3 of the same, or mix and match as we did for a few bucks more. Welp, the plate arrived and I was not impressed. Let's see if it taste great....and disappointed. I do. It recommend the fish taco, maybe it was an off day, but it was too fishy, like sardines. We did not enjoy that. The carne asada was okay, the meat was soft but there was no seasoning that made the meat flavorful. All you could taste was salsa topping on it. As for the spicy shrimp taco, that was great. Flavorful and tasty; a bit oily, but it was the best tasting taco out of all three that we ordered. I tried it, I most likely won't return. Try it and see if you have a better experience. It's become a bit of a game day tradition for us to come to Border Grill for brunch before home Raiders games at nearby Allegiant Stadium. It's an easy walk and this is a terrific place to get full bellies and pregame! On weekends, Border Grill features a bottomless small plates brunch for around 50 bucks. It's an incredible deal with a good variety of dishes so you can sample lots of different things from the menu. Even better, you can add on all-you-can-drink Mimosas, Micheladas, or Bloody Marys for less than $40! To me, this is where the value lies. I do wish the brunch menu had more options, but note that you can also order off a limited lunch menu. Here's my pro tip #1: you can still get the bottomless cocktails deal if you order an entree! Score! I usually get the chicken quesadilla with black beans and rice and bottomless Mimosas. It's pricey but worth it (especially because the drinks keep flowing). The mimosas come with three different juices (usually orange, cranberry, and then a juice of the day). My favorite is when they have the blood orange or strawberry. The bubbles are in the form of a bottle of Italian prosecco that's a decent quality. It's not fancy, but it'll do. There is a two hour limit on the bottomless booze. Pro tip #2: ask for a to-go cup when you're ready to leave. You can pour in a mimosa and take it with you as you walk over to the stadium! The vibe is lively but relaxed, with indoor and outdoor seating. There are some patio tables overlook the pool area, which adds a fun, sunny touch if the weather is nice. The restaurant is casual, colorful, and energetic without being chaotic. The indoor dining area lacks character, but I do enjoy the small bar here. It's a pretty big space that occupies two stories. My favorite place to sit is on the covered outdoor deck area during the cooler fall months. I've also dined here for dinner, but the brunch is where the bargain is. Locals, they've recently discontinued the locals discount but they do have a new frequent diner program so make sure you ask to sign up. The points and freebies rack up quickly. You can also utilize and earn points across a variety of restaurants that are also run by Chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger. Border Grill has good, chef-driven food, offers bottomless drinks, and provides a fun, festive atmosphere. If you're in Vegas on a Raiders game day, the brunch is a no-brainer for pregame eats. read more

Came at 12:15, right at lunchtime, and this place was PACKED! It was probably because there was a volleyball tournament currently going on (Red Rock Rave), and the players needed somewhere to have lunch nearby. Luckily, I did not need to wait too long for seating because Border Grill has two floors! Loved how we had a lot of choose from the menu, and there were many gluten free choices. I got the short rib enchiladas. Compared to the plates of quesadillas and salads from Border Grill (which come is big portions), the short rib enchiladas seemed little. However though, the Enchiladas were actually really filling. Three enchiladas were able to make me soo full! Moral of the story: never doubt enchiladas, LOL. The enchiladas were really soft, and packed with short rib. Nearly the entire plate is filled with sauce, so each bite will never be dry. I have a friend who ordered the quesadillas.. she told me that it was very heavy. It comes in three slices, and I've heard from her that one slice is filling enough to get you full, and two slices if you're really hungry. The service was also great; the staff members are really nice and they make you feel right at home. I finally made it to the Border Grill at the Mandalay Bay. There were no appropriate signs to find this place, until the end. There's all this hype about the famous LA chefs who now have outposts over here. I came here for something different and started with the trio of salsas. That was good. The seafood enchilada seemed from a frozen bag then baked. More like taquitos. Tough and dry on the outside. Only nice optics. Yes, looks can be deceptive. The inside components were supposed to have crab, lobster and shrimp. Zero texture. Seafood flavor only. More of a mash. Did not see any of the components, except a small cut up piece of shrimp or two. It was also excessively salty, giving me further affirmation that what came to my table, was probably from a package. I asked Justin the server, whether it was freshly prepared ...he said it was prepared in the morning and then kept. All the facts did not add up. No fresh taste. The side of rice and black beans (does not come with it. You have to order it separately, for a cost) were okay. Anyone can make them. The way I see it, an experience at any restaurant needs to be holistic. The unfriendly hostess Michelle, sent me on two runarounds. One to a restroom really far away, when there was one close by from the inside of the restaurant. And then sent me in the opposite direction for a non existent Uber pick up location. The busboy Jose, was very rude and laughed at me, when I tried to change tables to avoid the sunlight glare (I take a photosensitive medication). Stephanie, the manager, on the other hand, was understanding and empathetic. We dined her for a birthday dinner. I feel like we've been missing out on this restaurant in Mandalay Bay. Located just past the Michelob Ultra arena, is this hidden gem. The longer we sat there, the more we realized we were just the only ones who didn't know about this spot. It was packed lol. Food - they had a variety of food options that spanned from salads, salsas, different guacamoles, more traditional Mexican starters, tacos, and main dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of vegan options. I had the Portobello Mushroom Mulitas. The mushrooms were perfectly cooked, the sauce had flavor and depth. I enjoyed they had swiss chard as the greens they incorporated in the dish as well. I paired that with a side of Caramelized Plantains that they were able to make vegan. They were perfectly cooked, sweet plantains. 5/5 stars for all the food . Drinks- I had the Paradise Punch and swapped out the Hornitos Blanco with Bacardi Rum. That along with the passionfruit, fresh lime, and blood orange was refreshing. So good! 5/5 stars . Service - everyone was amazing and we received our food right away. A nice touch was bringing out a dessert for my friend's birthday. Ambiance - it was beautiful art throughout the space and warm colors. It extended to the plates. Kudos to the chef as the flavors were truly deliciously strong and indelible - it worked for most of the dishes we had, but unfortunately a bit too much on one. We loved the Aji-Deviled Eggs--it's spicy kick really blended and we almost wanted to get more. The Yucatan Pork was very flavorful, the meat very tender - big serving and I loved it. I especially loved the plantains. The Carne Asada was delicious as well, full-flavored and my daughter was content. Brunch Buffet at Border Grill - Absolutely Worth It! We came for the brunch buffet and decided to try everything--and I mean everything! Every dish came out beautifully plated, full of color, and even more full of flavor. Twice we were told the food was "being plated," only for nothing to come out for another 30+ minutes after being told. It would've been better to just be honest instead of setting false expectations. We were told there was a glitch in the system and that some small appetizers would be brought out while we waited--but those never came either. The pork belly in the pozole paired nicely with the fundito when wrapped in the perfectly executed flour tortilla. Delish! Birria taquitos were tender, flavorful, and filling. BORDER BRUNCH REVIEW We had a great first visit last year, we decided to return this past weekend. All- you-can-eat small plates with Mexican/American flavors? Yes please! This is a great alternative to the more expensive Vegas Buffet without the crowds and having to wait in line. FYI, it's $44 per person. Of the 16 items to choose from, there are 11 savory items and 5 sweet items. Our plan of attack was simple. TRY EVERYTHING! So we did the most sensible thing and requested one of each savory item first, then one of each sweet item to follow, then repeat the ones we liked. Savory standouts for me were the Campechana Tostada, Brisket Benedict, Chilaquiles, Enchilada, Breakfast Taco, Birria Hash, and Steak & Eggs. My favorite sweet items were the warm Churro Tots, the Churro Waffle that came with the Diablo Fried Chicken, and the Chia Parfait. Our server was so-so. She was a younger woman who sent out a couple of our savory items with rubbery scrambled eggs in the beginning "because SHE just tells the cooks scrambled eggs" INSTEAD of asking the guest how they would like their eggs done!? I took it upon myself to request over easy eggs when we ordered the steak and egg plate. She also had the nerve to stand over me while I was paying our bill on the credit card machine to see how much tip I was gonna leave. Very tacky and unprofessional IMHO. We decided to have a late lunch and to our surprise a lot of full service restaurants were closed. We walked a long way to find this place, with a view of the Mandalay pool if eating outside. We ate inside, no waiting. I wanted a salad and there was only one kind available. I figured I could not miss with a Caesar salad, but it sure was different. It had a gritty taste, like eating sand. The server said they could prepare it again but I was full from the guacamole, salsa and chips. The chips were extra salty and a little oily and the guacamole and salsa were quite spicy, more than my usual taste. The dining area was very modern and our server was quite nice. It's casual and lax and it was a pretty busy Thursday lunch rush but we were seated timely, and we were a large party, and the staff really took care of our table well. To my fellow millennials: remember the cooking show Two Hot Tamales? This is their restaurant! I've been coming to Border Grill for years, practically since they opened. After a recent mediocre meal, I was hesitant to come back but I'm so glad I did. Everything this time was absolutely delicious! One of my favorites was the tuna tiradito with an amazingly fragrant yuzu and coconut leche de tigre sauce that was out of this world. The Seafood enchiladas had a creamy bisque-like sauce which was a fun twist. It was a busy Friday lunch but my server Adrienne was attentive and helpful and Bree is the coolest and best manager in the industry. Ordered the tropical colada and it was about 4 oz of liquid, mostly ice in a tiny juice glass. Usually drinks are stronger in small glasses, no dice. It was just pina colada mix. Service - the two waiters working the patio were friendly but drinks and refills took a while. Felt like they didn't talk to each other so stuff was missed and we were skipped over. My husband's birthday is in a few days and I'll be away, so we were celebrating early. Our server brought him a sundae with fresh berries and a salted chocolate chip cookie. Our friend was happy that they were three different enchiladas. I ate so many chips that I was very full and didn't eat all the lamb chops. Rookie move. The lamb chops were very good. They were nice and fatty. We also got a side of brussel sprouts. The sprouts were shaved and roasted with red bell pepper and chorizo. It was very tasty, but felt like a full meal. I would come back and skip the guac, and try not to eat all the chips. I probably ate a full basket. Instead, I'd save room for the entree. Service was nice, except when we were checking out.
