She made the experience feel comfortable from the start and gave the kind of service that makes you want to come back. AMBIANCE: Inside, the restaurant has a warm wooden interior with dim lighting that gives it a relaxed, cozy energy. It feels casual enough for lunch, but still stylish enough to feel like you are treating yourself a bit. A nice balance between laid-back and lively. FOOD: I started with the Honey Mezcal cocktail, and it was delicious. Smooth, slightly smoky, with just enough sweetness to keep it refreshing without overdoing it. Disappointing experience. 1. In a nearly empty restaurant they sat us by the bussing station in the back, meaning we got to listen to clanging plates and cups the whole time. 2. My husband ordered a marg on the rocks, but it came blended. They had to correct it and send another. 3. My husband's food came out about 5 minutes before mine did. We both just got tacos. 4. The rice that came with the food wasn't really like normal rice from a Mexican place. It was more like sticky rice from a sushi place. Don't get me wrong- it wasn't bad (not really good either), but it was unexpected. 5. There were so many poppyseeds in the poppyseed slaw I kept accidentally inhaling them and the got stuck in my teeth. Some would be fine but there were way too many. El Segundo Sol is located at the edge of the Fashion Show Mall off the strip in Las Vegas. My team came here for a happy hour event hosted by one of our partners and we had an incredible time. The restaurant has Mexican hacienda vibes. Definitely a great backdrop for good times. We were a large party taking up the entire bar area and I was especially impressed by the above and beyond service by Ozzy. He was really on top of making sure our drink orders were taken quickly, refilling our appetizers, and clearing the table so we have more space. Great customer service and attention to detail. I had a few Skinny Classico ($15 value/each) and a few Nada Horchata ($16 value/each). All the drinks were great. The staff also took special care with my group as some folks wanted salt rims and some wanted tajin rims. The bartenders were really gracious about the requests I made when putting in some orders for our customers. They also brought delicious freshly fried chips with a variety of salsa and guac to our tables. Tacos and skewers also circulated around. I noticed they did a great job tracking which areas have already been served and which areas to continue with for the next batch of food. Thought service, well crafted cocktails, and tasty eats. El Segundo Sol is the best Mexican food restaurant I've been to in Las Vegas! We visited in 2023 for the first time, but last week, we were back in town with a hankering for some Mexican food... We knew exactly where to go! I got the shredded beef enchiladas. Then for the table, we got the bottomless chips and salsa, and an order of guacamole. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection! Another one of my favorite things about this place is the incredible waitstaff, they are on top of everything and very friendly! Then, of course, the vibe is just THE BEST. Even if you sit inside, you still feel like you're in a tropical environment, with lots of hanging vines, trees... It feels like a relaxing vacation from start to finish. They are a bit on the pricier side, it costed about $125 for 3 adults to eat here. & Everyone only drank water. However, everything is fresh, portions are good, and the flavors are out of this world. We walked up for lunch. We opted to sit outside since it wasn't too hot. Nice views of the Wynn across the street and good for people watching. Ordered the prickly pear on the rocks. It was good! The hibiscus mule was good too if you like mescal. Ordered the table guac, hot, but was mild in my opinion but very tasty! Ordered the fajitas to share. It was good for the 2 of us. It came with cilantro rice which was very good and black beans, which were bland. It also comes with a side of sour cream, salsa, guac, corn, and 4 small flour tortillas. The meal reminded me like a resort in Cabo. It was so good and flavorful. Service was great! He was very attentive and came to our table several times to make sure we were good throughout our meal. After a 15 hour tour of Bryce & Zion National Parks, I returned to El Segundo Sol. Why?....because on the tour, the guide mentioned that the Prickly Pear Cacti, which are native to this region, are known for their flat, S.W E.E.T., fleshy pads and edible fruit, called tunas, and pads, called nopales. Well, El Segundo Sol serves a Prickly Pear Margarita (Canaveral reposado, fresh lime juice, agave nectar). This Margarita was VERY GOOD, the Prickly Pear was delicious, and El Segundo Sol did a fabulous job at creating this fabulous drink. Order it! We also ordered these exceptional items....Watermelon & Cotija Salad (shaved red onion, cherry tomato, serrano, and mint). This salad had it all....sweetness, spiciness, and the hint of mint made this a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED item. The other item was the Grilled Chicken Taquitos (piloncillo-chili rub, citrus squeeze, cilantro, onion, salsa taquera, chipotle crema). Each taquito was pleasantly crunchy, full of flavor, and the sweet dipping sauce made this entire selection mouth-watering. To make the meal even better, the dessert made it memorable. Celebrated my brother's 21st in Vegas and decided on El Segundo Sol for dinner. We had a group of 15 and they were SO accommodating even when we had to push our resy back a bit. They close at 10pm, and they were able to get us in at 9pm which worked out perfectly. Not only did everything LOOK amazing, it all tasted just as good. Started off with their Paloma and it was perfect! For starters, we shared chips & salsa, loaded nachos and ahi poke tacos. Everything and I mean everythinggg was so good. The ahi tuna tacos were yummy, wish they offered something like this for an entree. It left me wanting more! But the star of the show (for starters) was definitely the nachos - massive pile of deliciousness. Creamy, cheese-y fatty goodness. They use duck fat in their beans and it just gives the nachos this fatty, rich flavor that's seriously so good *chefs kiss* the mahi fish tacos were so tasty! The Food - nothing, nothing was good... Starting with the margarita that was so sweet and tasting like one of those ready mixers you get a the store. The rice was well over cooked, it was lumps of soft rice with black beans also over cooked. The enchiladas, guacamole, the queso... culinarily a flop lacking salt, lacking an edge from black pepper and acidity in general. Hard for me to see how everything can be so flat in flavor. The Service - it was friendly but having to ask for chips for the guacamole that had been at the table for five minute is a fundamental mistake. The Ambience - it is a good looking place. My daughter has been going here for ages, but I never wanted to face "mall" valet parking for tacos. Boy, was I wrong for having waited. First off, our Server, Edgar, is the consulate professional. He knows the menu and was easily able to accommodate our party of 7, without batting an eye. He is that good! ( Ask for him when making reservations) The ambience is cool and inviting- a great contrast to the craziness of a summer Saturday on the Strip. The food...oh, the food. Most excellent! The guac was perfection, the carnitas were moist and had that glorious fattiness that imparts flavor. The sauces and cremas had unique flavors that complemented their base. We visited this place at Fashion Show Mall on a Wednesday evening. It wasn't busy, and we were seated right away. The ambiance is definitely a highlight -- warm lighting, greenery throughout, and a relaxed, modern vibe that makes for a pleasant dining experience. While reviewing the menu, I was interested in the burrito but noticed it included cilantro rice. Since cilantro has an unpleasant soap taste for me (because of a common genetic trait), I asked if there were any alternative rice options. Unfortunately, none were available. Offering a more neutral rice option or a customizable base could really help accommodate a wider range of dietary preferences. I decided on the cheese quesadilla, expecting a simple yet satisfying dish. Unfortunately, it arrived with very little filling and was noticeably thin -- mostly just tortilla. For the $15 price, a more generous portion of cheese would have gone a long way. A little more extra cheese could be a welcome improvement. On a brighter note, my husband had the steak quesadilla and enjoyed it -- it seemed more thoughtfully prepared and well-portioned. The service was friendly, and the space is beautiful. With some small adjustments to the cheese quesadilla and added flexibility in the menu, El Segundo would be even more of an enjoyable experience for all guests, especially the cheese lovers ;) I would still highly recommend this place! read more

Hostesses were nice and sat us somewhere we could keep our stroller with us and out of the way. Our server had approximately no customer service skills though, seemed impatient with us looking over the menu. We ordered their bottomless chips and salsa - delicious, but never once did they offer more or refill the red sauce that was eaten up nearly immediately. Ordered steak fajitas and a kids meal as well, again delicious but not once did our server check on us. No one offered a high chair and the server acted like we were inconveniencing them in asking. Amazing food, drinks, and service! This is the second time eating here and it was wonderful as to be expected. We sat outside near the bar. It has misters that will help cool you down on a hot day. We started off with the bottomless chips and salsa. You get 3 different salsas with the delicious, perfectly crispy chips. I ordered a Paloma and my mom ordered the sangria. Both were so delicious. I ordered the carnitas tacos platter and my mom ordered the green chile and cheese enchiladas. We absolutely loved it all. I added chicken to it and let me just tell you--it had the best "dusting" of cheese on it...it was utterly fabulous. It has become our go-to place for special occasions, such as anniversary or Valentine's Day. Simply put, this place is awesome!!! The servers are on top of things, friendly and courteous. They check on you the right amount--not too often to where it's a nuisance and not rarely when you have to catch their eye. The food? This is the BEST Mexican food anywhere in the city. By far. Hands down. The portions are huge and although it may seem pricey, you easily get 2 meals out of it. Why was I considering a 4 1/2? Well, the only drawback is the ambiance. The tables are packed somewhat tightly but the bigger drawback is the design. Rather than having a single door the entryway is very wide and when it's cold and windy outside, as it was for Valentine's Day, the outside conditions become inside conditions. I had a feeling that the food would be terrible, and my suspicions were correct. From the $16 guacamole that was maybe 2 avocados worth to the chips that were soggy to the water down margaritas that were $20+ each. This is a never come back type of place. I tried the enchiladas and the sauce was bland, tortillas were hard. I had filled with shrimp, should have tried another protein (that's on me) but the only edible thing was the beans and rice.
