We started with the milk bun, mussels, Bibb salad, and a mix of roasted and Rockefeller oysters (note: the bacon can't be removed). For entrées, we ordered two red fish and two whole lobsters, paired with truffle mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, and broccolini as sides. Everything was well prepared and enjoyable. Dessert was a complimentary mango sorbet, which was a nice birthday touch. We also had several drinks: a lychee martini (clearly noted on the menu with added raspberry liqueur), a bourbon-based cocktail, a lychee mocktail, Hugo spritz, and French press coffee. Carmel has all the bones for something great, and I want to start this off by saying I will be back to give a second chance! I also want to add that we did come on their Oyster Bar opening night so that could have added to some of the hiccups. Carmel is gorgeous aesthetic wise with warm, brown tones all over that give a fusion of Tulum + Paris Cafe vibes which is perfect for the Atlanta backdrop. Let's do a general review of everything and then I'll get more specific on some highlights/areas of improvement: Service 9/10: our server was the best part! He was honest when we asked for input and every recommendation he gave was absolutely delicious bites/sips for the night. Only docked a point because it was slightly slow but not to any of his fault. I think it was just a higher pressure night & kitchen + bar were a little backed up. Food 7/10: some wins, but a few small issues with some of the items Drinks 9/10: amazing drinks despite the wait! As far as access, Carmel is in the Buckhead shops so easy for rideshare service drop off and there is a parking deck + valet options near, so plenty of options! No to more details on what we enjoyed for the night: * Half Dozen Raw (chefs choice) 10/10: these were smaller but tasted fresh, and were mild in brine flavor so very palatable for anyone even if they don't care for oysters * Seafood Tower 7/10: So this was slightly underwhelming in portion size and general flavor. Shrimp and oysters were great, but the lobster & scallop crudo just weren't great. Specifically the crudo was super salty which I did infirm the manager. Maybe some citrus would have brightened it but it's hard to come back from "too salty" than not salty enough. * Octopus 9/10: delicious! Best bite of the night for sure. Beyond flavorful with a nice Smokey flavor. * Carmel's Burger 8/10: the burger was fantastic! Great portion and amazing temp on the meat. The caviar fries were okay, and extremely salty as well so although I would have given the burger a ten, that's what brought it down a bit for me. Blackened Okra 10/10: I love okra! What can I say. Amazing charred flavor and hands down an underrated side! Drinks: Prosecco: 10/10 - classic, not much to say Lychee Martini 8/10: not the very best I've ever had in the city, but tasted good, just very light on the spirit. Mar Azul 10/10: favorite cocktail of the night! I'm not sure who's idea it was to have the heat on when it was 85 degrees in Atlanta today but it was an uncomfortable heat. Some tables had fans on them, we asked for some and never got it. Ambiance reminds me of Tulum in a way, very clean lines and neutal colors. The food was petite, I show a picture of my food below which consisted of 3 mussels, 2 prawns, a slither of fish, 4 cherry tomatoes, a piece of fennel, and 1 slice of onion. I believe the best thing I had was the actual side of potatoes. I didnt show their version of Mac and cheese, as the waiter called it, because we sent it back. The lychee martini isn't standard, I would give it a 5 out of 10. Throughout the night the service continued to go down, started out great but ultimately the waiter wasn't attentive, waited 20mins for him to bring the cake and another to return uncut cake, less than 5 for a birthday party. In fact, the host offered us a nearby booth which was available for our comfort. The inside ambiance is beautiful and chic, perfect for date nights. Located in Buckhead Village and there is a parking garage there but you could also valet for a fee. When I walked in, I was greeted by a hostess that walked me to my table. Love the menu style and David was our server for the day. He provided some honest recommendations that met our needs. To start, I love oysters so that was ordered first before anything. I would rate the oysters 7/10 only because of the breadcrumbs on the Rockefeller style was a bit much but overall, tastes good and decent size. To drink I ordered the lychee martini which was a 10/10 for taste and presentation. I also ordered the lobster roll as an entree. For the size, it wasn't worth the amount, but the taste was good and also the shoestring fries that came with it was amazing. We ordered a dozen raw oysters for our appetizer, some which were a little small in my opinion, but it paired perfectly with the vinegar and spicy sauce that they gave us. Their menu changes seasonally! For our mains, we ordered the NY Strip, Halibut, Whole Lobster, and Diver Scallops. Halibut $41: 4/5 the fish was perfectly cooked and came with a creamy sauce with heirloom tomatoes and fennel. The fish was a little on the dry side though so I really had to coat it in the sauce to cancel out the dryness. I really enjoyed the flavor and thickness of the sauce. Diver Scallops $42: 4/5 this was the dish our waiter recommended to us! The texture of the scallops were perfect but they were on the salty side. Three scallops were paired with sweet corn, leeks, and smoked bacon which were seasoned perfectly and paired well with the scallops. NY Strip $62: 4.5/5 the meat was super tender and had a sweet flavor which went nice with the sauce. The steak was very juicy and cooked at a perfect medium. It was overall delicious! Whole lobster $48: 4.2/5 lobster was cooked well and was easy to eat. I wish it was more tender and i wish the lobster was a bit bigger. For entrees, I was torn between scallops and redfish but was sold on the redfish - apprehensive because the one I recently had at The Optimist was underwhelming but whew, the best decision made because THIS REDFISH was so delectable, flavorful and prepared with so much love, I melted. The garlic white wine sauce as its base was divine. Prior to arriving to Carmel, I did a bit of perusing and was intrigued by the Caviar Fries so we placed an order for the table and what an experience. Entrees continued with my friends ordering the crab-cake and potato puree as well as the smash burger with braised greens for the table. The greens have a flavor that is out of this world lovely with a lil kick. Based on my reaction and cleanliness of my plate post meal, my girlfriend ordered the redfish to go for her hubby as well as a side of braised greens. The meal + the experience overall, 10/10. It's very small but it's enough for a couple of people. I ordered the avocado and lobster. Its like guacamole with lobster in it. It was really good. The chips seemed like they were homemade. The food was all phenomenal. I had a mocktail which was an on the spot creation with passion fruit, was also phenomenal. I've been trying to recreate it at home ever since. We had a later reservation on a weekday, so once the dinning room cleared out a bit they let us move to a more "aesthetic table" to take some photo's and videos for socials and the waiters actually helped stage it and take photos and videos. They all seemed to understand that free content in a trendy restaurant is free marketing. I only took away a star because we were celebrating an anniversary which I noted when I made the reservation, and our waiter actually said she was going to bring us champagne on the house, which didn't happen. (which is fine because I wasn't drinking at the time we were there) but when she realized she forgot after saying it out loud, she told us she would be coming our desserts instead (both) so we ordered two rather than splitting. They were both comically small...but delicious. but when the check came they were also both on there...just pointing that out. It would have been less of a thing if they were tiny and expensive. It was fine, more comical than anything. Didn't ruin our time We will absolutely be back and I recommend it for sure. I have been here for just drinks and for dinner and both times they were not playing with their amazing mixologists and chefs. This place is a high end seafood restaurant with mixed cuisines to highlight the best flavors of whichever type of fish they are serving. Our waitress was the absolute sweetest that really felt not only genuine but almost like we knew each other for a long time. We came in not really knowing what to get but I loved exploring this menu and trying multiple drinks that are influenced by the variety in their menu. Everything we got was delicious! Especially the sauces everything is served in. Very dish has a different flavor but they all fold together to make a delightful meal. The octopus specifically was absolutely amazing and I would highly suggest it. The tuna tartar is on the spicier side, which does kinda sneak up on you. This place is fairly new and I hope it picks up business and stays a while. The inside is a bit dark, giving a very intimate vibe for anyone on a date. I wouldn't suggest bringing a large group because this place is an open concept and sound does travel. Spirits are 2oz pours - Glenfiddich 12yr was nearly a C-note (not kidding), which is ridiculous even for a top-shelf single malt. The chicken dinner is worth the $36. The caviar fries (shoestring cut with the fish eggs, scallions, and some sauce as a small garnish) are seasoned well and a large enough portion to share with 2-3 people. ~Service: Consistently pleasant. I think a lot of the servers are actors, they have an agreeableness that's abnormal, but decidedly motivated by the potential for tips. If you're in a party of 8+, 20% gratuity is included in your bill, so be mindful of up-selling attempts. The more you spend, the bigger their tip. ~Ambiance: It looks exactly like the pictures. It's not quiet, but it's not the place to go with people who talk/laugh loudly. It's in Buckhead, so it's a pretty posh crowd - dress to impress would be a baseline, unless you want to stand out. ~Cost: Overpriced. While the food is well-made, it's not anything out of the ordinary. The serving portions (as you can see from the photos in other reviews) are not teeny tiny, but they aren't enough to make an adult feel even half full. ~Bill: They do split checks. Just specify who's paying for what if you have a large party, especially if people are ordering appetizers. I saw that lot of reviews were not so great but i think brunch menu is better than other menus and we had received great service experience. Oh and they validate your deck parking! My dining experience at Carmel was lovely. The aesthetics in that place are to die for. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our server took us on a "menu tour" and carefully explained each item on there. I had the smoked mushroom tagliatelle; it could've used more seasoning but it wasn't terrible. I also had the Carmel Lychee Martini which was nice. I would go back to check out some of their apps and more cocktails. read more

Our server Mat was the best. It was 5 of us and a baby and we weren't too sure if it was the right place for us because the place is kind of sheik. It is very nice and sophisticated, has kind of a warm intimate lighting and a bar in the front. But they accommodated us just fine and then there was a procession of delicious food. Mussels, tuna tartare, avocado & crab meat, Caesar salad, red fish, vegetarian lasagna and chicken. Every single one was delicious! Almost forgot! The caviar French fries!
