I have been here for just drinks and for dinner and both times they were not playing with their amazing mixologists and chefs. This place is a high end seafood restaurant with mixed cuisines to highlight the best flavors of whichever type of fish they are serving. Our waitress was the absolute sweetest that really felt not only genuine but almost like we knew each other for a long time. We came in not really knowing what to get but I loved exploring this menu and trying multiple drinks that are influenced by the variety in their menu. Everything we got was delicious! Especially the sauces everything is served in. Very dish has a different flavor but they all fold together to make a delightful meal. The octopus specifically was absolutely amazing and I would highly suggest it. The tuna tartar is on the spicier side, which does kinda sneak up on you. This place is fairly new and I hope it picks up business and stays a while. The inside is a bit dark, giving a very intimate vibe for anyone on a date. I wouldn't suggest bringing a large group because this place is an open concept and sound does travel. This place is a nice treat, and really has set an environment that is unique especially in buckhead. read more

This restaurant is located in the buckhead village. I just wanted something really quick to eat. I was able to sit outside because now they have some outdoor seating. It's very small but it's enough for a couple of people. I ordered the avocado and lobster. Its like guacamole with lobster in it. It was really good. The chips seemed like they were homemade. I was almost able to finish the whole thing so is was just the right amount. I just wanted something quick, not a big deal, so I was served quickly and I was done quickly, which I appreciated. I recommend this restaurant to any and everyone visiting the buckhead village. read more

Was excited to dine here, but the food fell a little flat. The tuna tartar was served minced with 2 squirts of avocado puree on a bed of a soupy vinegar/citrus... broth? Dressing? Sauce? The Bouillabasse (mixed seafood dish) was minimal - 2 prawns, 3 mussels, and a 3x3 portion size of fish. All for $36. The branzino was good, a little undercooked in my opinion, but had flavor. But not worth the $62 price tag. The drinks were good, the ambiance chill, service great, but I'm hesitant to come back. read more

We came in for some drinks and I ended up getting the shrimp scampi which came out with the shrimp with the heads on it. That wasn't a problem but the shrimp was mushy. Won't be getting that again but they have a great sparkling water called Eira which was very good. I got an amaretto sour but it wasn't Disaronno and it was okay. The service was very good and the ambiance was nice. read more

We went in for brunch and while it wasn't mind blowing, we fairly enjoyed our food and service. Caramel is located in the Buckhead shops adjacent to Shake Shack. Interior is gorgeous and gives you a California vibe. I started off with Tulum drink which was tasty like a tropical drink. We had to get the bone marrow, one of our favorite dishes! Loved my mushroom toast but it can be subjective since I love all mushroom dishes. Husband ordered the steak toast and I wasn't a big fan of the bread but he was pleased overall. For a side, we ordered the potato and the texture was addicting. It was perfectly cooked and it felt like I was eating a potato boba jelly that pops in your mouth! Loved it but slightly over sauced. I saw that lot of reviews were not so great but i think brunch menu is better than other menus and we had received great service experience. Oh and they validate your deck parking! If you forget and walk out, you can call them and they can virtually validate if you give them your parking number. Super convenient! read more

My dining experience at Carmel was lovely. The aesthetics in that place are to die for. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our server took us on a "menu tour" and carefully explained each item on there. I had the smoked mushroom tagliatelle; it could've used more seasoning but it wasn't terrible. I also had the Carmel Lychee Martini which was nice. I would go back to check out some of their apps and more cocktails. read more

~Food: It's seafood in Atlanta. Cocktails look pretty, but they don't pack any punches and are princess-sized. Spirits are 2oz pours - Glenfiddich 12yr was nearly a C-note (not kidding), which is ridiculous even for a top-shelf single malt. The chicken dinner is worth the $36. The caviar fries (shoestring cut with the fish eggs, scallions, and some sauce as a small garnish) are seasoned well and a large enough portion to share with 2-3 people. ~Service: Consistently pleasant. I think a lot of the servers are actors, they have an agreeableness that's abnormal, but decidedly motivated by the potential for tips. If you're in a party of 8+, 20% gratuity is included in your bill, so be mindful of up-selling attempts. The more you spend, the bigger their tip. ~Ambiance: It looks exactly like the pictures. It's not quiet, but it's not the place to go with people who talk/laugh loudly. It's in Buckhead, so it's a pretty posh crowd - dress to impress would be a baseline, unless you want to stand out. ~Cost: Overpriced. While the food is well-made, it's not anything out of the ordinary. The serving portions (as you can see from the photos in other reviews) are not teeny tiny, but they aren't enough to make an adult feel even half full. ~Bill: They do split checks. Just specify who's paying for what if you have a large party, especially if people are ordering appetizers. We ordered appetizers, and the server assumed they were for the table (some were, some weren't), so they split them amongst everyone, which was thoughtful. ***Overall: It could be better because they put more effort into the design/aesthetic of the place than they did into the food. I do enjoy a good photo op, and they have plenty of them. read more

Yes. Yes, you should! Nothing to second guess here. Carmel has been on my list of places to dine and experiences to have for some time now, so when the group chat suggested linking up, Carmel was the consensus. A beautiful Friday evening in February, 78 degrees with 6p reservations. upon entering, the atmosphere was what I had imagined - inviting and warm with neutral tones and coastal energy. We started off with a bottle of still, Ceaser and bib salads + an order of milk buns to share. I ordered the Pineapple Situation - a zero proof cocktail. One of my girlfriends kept the zero proof energy flowing and ordered The Lychee and my other girlfriend order The Lychee Martini cocktail. For entrees, I was torn between scallops and redfish but was sold on the redfish - apprehensive because the one I recently had at The Optimist was underwhelming but whew, the best decision made because THIS REDFISH was so delectable, flavorful and prepared with so much love, I melted. The garlic white wine sauce as its base was divine. Prior to arriving to Carmel, I did a bit of perusing and was intrigued by the Caviar Fries so we placed an order for the table and what an experience. Entrees continued with my friends ordering the crab-cake and potato puree as well as the smash burger with braised greens for the table. The greens have a flavor that is out of this world lovely with a lil kick. Based on my reaction and cleanliness of my plate post meal, my girlfriend ordered the redfish to go for her hubby as well as a side of braised greens. The meal + the experience overall, 10/10. This will definitely be a date night go to soon! read more

It's so nice in this restaurant! Such a nice ambiance. The food was excellent. We started with the grilled oysters and Caesar salad and let me tell you, those oysters are incredible! So flavorful and delicious. I also really enjoyed the Caesar salad. For our entrees we got the NY Strip and the redfish. The sauce on that NY Strip was delicious! My boyfriend also enjoyed the fish. Lastly for our drinks, the island cooler was the star of the show! Now the service was outstanding! From the moment we walked in, we were treated so nicely. They had us seated in this cozy area for our anniversary and it was lovely. Our server Ulises took such great care of us and gave us some perfect recommendations. I also can't get over our dessert. The peach sorbet was heavenly and paired nicely with the champagne. I loved my time here and can't wait to come back. read more

A tale of two stories... The Good: The octopus was fantastic; the best we've had in Atlanta. The mussels weee good with a very flavorful sauce. The smoked mushroom tagliatelle pasta was rich and very filling; a great vegetarian option. The NY step steak was cooked to perfection. The Bad: It look about an hour to get the main course. We were told "it's coming" a few times & then told the steak was dropped. We were kind but they didn't even bring us a complimentary drink as we waited. The overall service outside of the wait was so-so at best. Food is great but not worth it given the level of service. read more

This place is STUNNING! Beautiful inside and out and service was stellar. I wasn't a huge fan of the food - it's more hype from social media. The quinoa was cold which I thought to be odd and much too expensive for the serving size (almost $30). Service was great though! read more

Carmel is beautiful inside. The decor and service made the perfect early Sunday dinner with friends. We shared various small plates, drinks, and main dishes. The appetizers were just okay. The grilled octopus was flavorful and complemented by the garnishes. The main entrees were much more enjoyable and carefully prepared. The Seafood parpadelle features large shrimps and mussels in fresh pasta. The food was good but my main critique that it was not served at the hot enough temperature to my liking. Cocktails were great! read more

Our server Mat was the best. It was 5 of us and a baby and we weren't too sure if it was the right place for us because the place is kind of sheik. It is very nice and sophisticated, has kind of a warm intimate lighting and a bar in the front. But they accommodated us just fine and then there was a procession of delicious food. Mussels, tuna tartare, avocado & crab meat, Caesar salad, red fish, vegetarian lasagna and chicken. Every single one was delicious! Almost forgot! The caviar French fries! What a genius idea! read more

Ambience was spot on! The interiors and the vibe matched the Buckhead Village experience. I wanted to get a good experience and I got it! The service was really good, extremely polite, everything I would expect from an upscale restaurant. Coming to the food: 1. The potato and caviar - I would give this a 4/5. It was fried to perfection, marriage of flavors was there and almosttt hit the spot. Caviar was a perfect amount too. 2. Oysters - Very fresh, there were different kinds of sauces that hit all the different palettes. The sour, sweet, and spicy. Everything that you need to eat Oysters with! 5/5 3. Scallops - If you get this dish, remember to eat it with every element on the plate. If you miss an element, you are missing a significant flavor burst. Once you have the cucumbers, onions, sauce, and herbs there will be a flavor explosion in your mouth - 5/5 4. Crispy fish tortas - This was my choice of mains. Perfect balance of flavors. The correct amount of crisp and the fish was so soft, cooked to perfection. This sandwich held together perfectly - 5/5 5. Shrimp - This was just shrimp and grits with chorizo. I was excited to try this, but not very happy with the flavor balance. Shrimp was cooked to perfection, grits were amazing and even the chorizo was good. But I felt like there was too much of chorizo which had a slight flavor imbalance to this dish - 3.8/5 Overall - great experience! Would definitely visit again read more

Carmel is the newest addition to the Buckhead Village scene. It has coastal chic charm with a menu full of light and savory bites. There is a large bar and patio area for casual cocktails or bites as well as a large dining room hidden in the back. I enjoyed a group dinner where we enjoyed the scallops, chicken, veggies and more. Crowd favorite was the lobster pasta. Service was great. A touch in the expensive side, but great for a date night or a girls night out. Definitely make a reservation. read more

Really liked the vibe of this restaurant. Really attentive servers and tasty food. Don't leave this restaurant without ordering the potatoes as a side. THEY ARE AMAZING! Location: The restaurant is located in front of Southern Gentleman. So basically Carmel faces the building that has Southern Gentleman. I would just recommend valet parking your car because the parking garage can be just as expensive if you're at the restaurants for a while socializing. Service: Our waitress was amazing and really knew the menu. She spoke to the bartender about making me a Jalapeño Margarita. Top tier service! Her name was Janáe. Food: There were 5 ppl in my party so we ordered lots of food to try from appetizers to main courses and sides. The Cebiche (yep that's their version) was mid, nothing to write home about. The best part about the meal were the Sides (Sweet Potatoes & Broccoli in particular). Tried the Seafood Pappardelle and sent it back because it was missing seafood and it was bland...too bland for $36. I ended up getting the Grilled Cobia instead. Great flaky fish, could've done without the orange annatto sauce though so get that on the side and just ask for a lemon wedge. Price: Since there were 5 of us and we ordered enough items to share amongst the table, we spent $112 per person which included the 2 drinks we had per person, soda water, several starters and appetizers and several main courses. Recommendation: Milk Bread (similar to a sweet Hawaiian roll IMO, the butter is the key here) and the Crab & Avocado appetizers. The Grilled Snapper and Scallops were the best. Those damn Sweet Potatoes were a hit! Would I come here again? Yes for sure but would not order any pasta dishes. read more

I have been looking forward to trying Carmel that recently opened across the street from me ever since I heard about its unique concept several months ago. I finally had the opportunity to try Carmel on a chill Thursday night that I had free for a solo dinner treat to myself! The restaurant has a pleasing ambiance upon entering. I was dining solo so I opted for bar seating. Lively, beautiful Buckhead crowd. However things sharply went down hill when the bar server through a napkin at me without uttering a word or even looking at me. Totally caught me off guard with the blatant disregard and lack of civil engagement. When he finally came to address me I asked him what that was all about and he brushed it off with an excuse that he was talking to other patrons seated next to me. Sure, yea whatever. I ordered the beef tartare as an appetizer and it happened to be the driest, most subpar beef tartare I ever had while dining. And I order beef tartare whenever it is available on a menu which is quite often for the places I frequent. The cocktail I ordered, the Basque to Baja, was a cute drink aesthetically. But unfortunately was an undrinkable syrupy concoction. For $18 I expected a phenomenal cocktail. I was not going any further downhill with this horrible experience and gave the server my credit card to make a quick exit. Buckhead and Atlanta metro has incredible restaurant options with excellent service and attention to detail. This place fell incredibly short of my expectations. Do not recommend. read more

I've been eager to try this restaurant for a while, and I finally got the chance to last night. I made a reservation and was immediately seated upon arrival (we love that!). The food, interior, and ambiance were all incredible. I'm a fan of coastal decor, and this place nailed it. Absolutely stunning! The staff was also incredibly friendly and efficient. The food was incredible. My friend and I opted for a selection of appetizers to share, which is perfect if you want to sample various items from the menu. We ordered: milk buns -- 8/10 * delicious soft and pillowy bread with a decadent togaraohs butter - note: they only serve one octopus -- 9/10 * perfectly cooked and beautifully plated mussels -- 7/10 * chilled, but still delicious - definitely an acquired taste - skip this if you don't like vinegar lobster cannelloni -- 10/10 * creamy, flavorful, with fresh lobster and caviar - my personal favorite out of all the dishes we tried I had a fantastic time here. Despite mixed reviews, I highly recommend dining here and forming your own opinion. read more

Came in last week! They just opened in Buckhead Village. Loved the decor - very fun colors and furniture. The bar area looked like a fun spot to come for a drink with a friend! The service was great! Very attentive and they gave us good suggestions. We started with cocktails. I got the basque to Baja and my friend got the tulum tomorrow. For food, we got the crab bacalaito, charred carrots, pork belly tostadas, and the milk buns. My favorites were the tostadas and the milk buns! I didn't love the carrots but I'm also not the biggest fan of carrots to begin with. The menu is a bit pricey, but I do suggest trying this place! A good spot for girls night! read more

I was excited to visit the newest addition to the buckhead village shops ... carmel is beautiful and neutral. Very pleasing decor. There was a private party in the front so outdoor dining and bar were unavailable. The back room had a large party adjacent to our table (very loud) so we moved along the wall. Loud loud loud but slightly better. Ordered starters (shrimp and gem salad) - and food was tasty. Service was excellent. Only fault was stacking plates on the table ... but it's hard to get well trained staff so I fault management for training on that. For price point, I expect a little more. Mains were great and left overs boxed. For price paid, there are other options with a nice vibe where a conversation can be had without screaming across the table. May return for the patio or bar, but not likely to return to the dining room. read more

We loved everything about this restaurant, it was a little warm at first but they seemed to kick the air up. The server was nice and well versed in the menu. All of the drinks we tried and all of the food was great! Would definitely come back to this beautiful restaurant. My only criticism was that I thought it was a pinch pricey for what you get even in the midst of the other restaurants in Buckhead Village. There are arguably three distinct sections for Carmel - one is the outdoor area with some seats/tables...meant to help people watch the surrounding Buckhead Village. The second sits soon after entering, i.e., an oval cocktail bar with a few seats on the side. And the third is the main dining section...with some very cool (and mysterious?) light fixtures hanging from the ceiling...offering everything from Godfather booths on the edges to tables (of varying sizes) in the center. Carmel is meant to reflect a coastal Middle Eastern cuisine. Technically, I believe it refers to itself an an Israeli diner. Practically, it is much more than that. Food options are plentiful and cater to several tastes. We had quite a bit for lunch: The octopus dish was wonderful in that it was on the softer side (unlike its usual chewy texture). We also had both lentil dishes...the appetizer (cold) and larger entree (warm). Lentils are among the healthier vegetables in general, so we didn't mind trying both. Definitely consider one of them as I think they do a great job pairing the lentils with complementary ingredients. We had the gem salad; the lettuce leaves were large enough to the point where we would even concoct our own mixed dish, placing the lentils on the leaves and savoring the crunch that comes along with it. The greens in ginger soy sauce were great as a relatively healthy side option. And we had both desserts...worth trying if you are willing to down more carbs! I should point out that our drinks were excellent as well (Pinot Noir and Welchman Hall Spritz). The servers were off-the-charts fantastic. Can't wait to go back for other meals. read more

I wanted to like this place. It's new, it's in, it looks trendy but it's a terrible disappointment. I don't leave many bad reviews so take this review as a careful consideration of an experience - I will not recommend this place to anyone. We had reservations for a group of 8 people at around 8pm on a Sunday. We showed up on time, parked in the Buckhead Village parking lot assuming that parking would be validated. Once we checked in, it took the hostess about 15 mins to re-arrange tables to accommodate us. Once we were seated we had our server attend to us promptly, which was the saving grace. Water, drinks and apps were all ordered. Few minutes later we ordered our main course too. Thoughts: * Cocktail list does not have any drink with whiskey, but I would recommend their old fashioned - just ask * Ordered the special (not sure the liquor in this), Mario's Modern Mix (brandy) as well as the Acupulco Way (mezcal based drink) but the drinks felt watered down to me * If you have only a select few cocktails on your menu atleast those should be good * Apps we ordered: Hamachi Crudo (decent), Tuna Tartare (no seasoning, that means no citrus too), Bone Marrow (decent), Pork Belly Tostadas (pork belly was just super dry), Crab Bacalaito (stuffed crab in flour and fried - decent), Quinoa (ok) * Apps are tiny so you will probably need to order more than you think * Mains: Chicken (tasted raw spices, just a plate of chicken - no carbs or greens to compete the dish), shrimp and grits (grits were not creamy enough, felt like it had been sitting on the counter waiting to be served), grouper (ok), wagyu steak (felt under-seasoned and not worth the $$$, tough to eat), fish tortas (ok) Skipped the desert not knowing what to expect. Honestly, I would skip this restaurant all together. Also they supposedly validate parking in the Buckhead Village parking lot but we ended up paying for parking because the validation did not work. Double check before you leave. read more

Found Carmel on an Eater Article, which I normally trust 1000% - this place was just, odd. Came in for Sunday brunch and we were the only people dining, the entirety of our meal (eerie) They had to send over the bartender, since the one waitress on staff hadn't shown up yet. He tried his best to explain the menu but when asked, what do you specialize in? He answered "we have a little of all around the world" cool, but that's kind of hard? Just didn't feel like there was any rhyme or reason to the menu. The ceviche we started with was the best thing we had, it had sweet potato puree around the edge of the bowl. They only give you two large chips, and encouraged you to spend 4 more dollars to get extra, so we did. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my husband got the burger, which were both recommended. I also ordered the bread service (I think it was called milk and bun?) It was good but our waitress took the bread before we were done and then disappeared. The man in the corner had to go get her from the back when he noticed our food just sitting at the counter. Value here just isn't there unfortunately. I think we spent over 100 dollars and didn't even order cocktails. Probably wouldn't return. read more

My first time here was back in September 2023. My friends and I came in for drinks at the bar and had a horrible experience. The espresso martinis were great but there was a man who was drunk and bothering us for 20 minutes. He got in my friend's face and was touching us. The bartenders made eye contact with us and asked if he was bothering us. We all said yes but nothing was done about it. We finished our drinks and asked for the check. It was disappointing that we were charged full price considering the harassment we were experiencing that was seen by everyone at the bar. What we hoped to be a great start to our night nearly sent us home due to the tolerance of this horrible behavior. It didn't help seeing security out in the plaza that could've been utilized. A plan of action needs to be established so situations like this don't occur again. Words cannot encapsulate how uncomfortable and frustrating this experience was. Visit June 2024: after last minute concert cancellations :( the girls got a quick reservation nearby at Carmel. The interior is beautiful. We were seated in a secluded nook and it was esthetically pleasing. We got espresso martinis which were delectable! I tried the octopus which was really tasty. We shared sweet potatoes and broccolini for the table. The sweet potatoes were soooo good i could've eaten two orders alone. The broccolini was cooked well but the flavor was unimpressionable. Overall the atmosphere was nice and we had a much nicer experience than my first time here. I'll likely return. read more
