Visited Blackjack Bar in Atlanta for the first time. It was suggested as a perfect date night or "girls night" spot on TikTok, which was great because I was in town celebrating my birthday with my best-friend. When you walk in the mood is instantly set with by the low ambient lighting and decor. Being that the theme & cuisine is Asian fusion, they really put a lot of effort into transporting to visually to an Asian oasis. We were seated at a table in the main dining area, but there's also a full bar with ample seating and very nice view. The seats were very comfortable and the tables are spaced in a way for intimacy. They also have music playing the background & the playlist was diverse with music ranging from K-Pop to R&B. Now on to our meal! The menu is pretty straight forward and broken down into apps/small plates, mains/big dishes, and a separate menu for cocktails. To start off we got drinks: lychee martini 10/10 & "cucumber salad" 8/10. Both were very good. The ingredients used make the drinks very intriguing and definitely something you've probably never tasted. It's suggested to keep an open mind when trying their cocktails. For food we had the shrimp wontons 10/10 (sauce was so good ... a little spice to it), the salt and pepper shrimp 8/10 (a little salty but fried well), the Thai basil fried rice 10/10 (the fried egg on top and the pickled cabbage was a great touch), and last the lobster pot 10/10 (presentation alone would make me go back to visit ... this dish was so good and flavor full). I came here on Aug 6 for My Birthday. But before that I called on Aug 3 to inquire about reservations and the GM Dante was so nice and accommodating. He assured me that my request for an non-tradtional dinner reservation could be fulfilled. He also informed me that they offered 2 hour parking validation in the 1010 parking deck. So I made reservations for the 6th from 630p-1100p. That particular day they also had a love band. So Dante reserved the high top bar tables for me which was 4 that sat upto 8 ppl. It was perfect b/c when I got there I had 1 friend waiting and then as we ordered food and drinks more ppl came through, and then some left and that was throughout the night. It was perfect. No waiting on opl not splitting bills just come enjoy buy what you want and leave when you want. The set up was EXACTLY what I wanted. SERVICE: Starting with the phone call to make the reservation Dante the GM was really nice an accommodating as I mentioned. I just hate I didnt get to meet him, b/c that day was his one day off. But nevertheless he had everything don't just the way i asked and I was grateful for his attentative nature. We had Yaz as our server and she was amazing to say the least! She was attentative and made sure everyone that came in was properly taking care of. She was personable and quite friendly which isn't that common these days. With everyone wanting a tip for bare minimal service it was refreshing to see someone who seemed to like her job and did it with ease and was on top of her game, so there for she deserved th3 tips she made from us that night. I didn't pay for anything (hence it being my bday), and I still tipped her. That's how good she was. And when I go back I will definitely ask for her section. The hist that checked us in, I believe his name was Mike. He was also very nice. There was a table next to pur high top tables and I asked if my mom could sit there and he said sure as long as they didn't need it, b/c my mom couldn't get up on the barstools that good. And so her and another friend's mom sat there. So worked out perfect AMBIANCE: The restaurant itself was really nice. I enjoyed every part. It was loud and the band was nice. At first on the appearance of the band I didn't know what to expect, but all in all they played a variety of really nice music and it wasn't over powering like they thought they were at a concert like most bands in restaurants. FOOD/DRINKS All I can day here was it was all soo very good. All of my friends were impressed and every person stated how they would have to come back b/c it was so nice. The drinks the food everything. I dont think Iate one thing I didn't like. Only thing I had that I mentioned to the server Yaz was that the octopus tail was a bit chewy amd that's it. The drinks were AMAZING. For me it is all about presentation and the had great presentation and tasted as good as they looked. One drink called the Good Time Girl was soo good and it came out with all these bubbles. It was amazing. They had a appetizer special 3 for $39 and me and a friend order 2 and so we tried 6 different things and it all was good. We had the calamari, grilled octopus tail, chicken wings, lettuce wraps, mussels, and oysters. It was ALL SOO YUMMY! We had a great time and it was perfect for how I wanted to celebrate. I would definitely come again hands down. The only downfall was that night the parking for 2 hours wasn't working properly so I parked on the street, but that wasn't the fault of the restaurant that was something with the garage I suppose.‍ So I definitely recommend this place. So I've been looking at this spot since it opened and I actually finally made it. Because of what it is, you have to worry about parking and it's not free to park but actually kind of is free. You have to worry about validating because they do validate so just keep that in mind. You'll park in the structure and then walk over to the restaurant but at that point you'll be able to get a validation code. Validation code will get something sent to your phone and you'll use it to negate the parking. Coming in the service was pretty good. Last time I went in it was actually pretty quiet and nobody was there so I got all the servers and bartenders to myself lol. But seriously everybody was super nice and really friendly and explained the menu very well and no complaints about that See you space cowboy - This was a pretty good and very balanced drink. I wanted something with bourbon in it so this is what I came up with from looking at the menu. Pretty solid and not overpowering at all. Salt and pepper shrimp - the salt and pepper shrimp was the star of the show to me as far as the appetizers that I had. It came with five of them but I could probably have eaten 25 of those joints. They were amazing. Out of the appetizers that I had, they were the best ones and they actually came pretty large. It's not like you got little baby shrimp. These were impactful, powerful shrimp that packed a heck of a flavor. I would 200% get these again and maybe I might get three orders of them by myself lol. Soft shell crab - the crab was good but the crab itself was only okay but the sauce in the bowl of the crab actually carried it. It's not a bad thing, but at the same time by itself it was only okay but the sauce definitely added a little extra to it. Grilled Octopus - the octopus was pretty good but at the same time it was a little more chewy than I would've liked it to be. It wasn't impossibly chewy. It was actually still pretty good. The thing that made the octopus actually pop was the sauce that came with it. The sauce was like a chili-lime sauce and that actually carried the dish itself. Without that it would've just been okay but the sauce definitely helped. The sauce went well with a couple of things actually . But I'll still order doctors again. It was actually pretty decent. Bangkok Hot fries - the fries are actually good. They had a a spice to them. That was a kick in the face but also citrusy as well. So you got a little bit of heat and citrus at the same time. They came out really good. Hot fresh and that would have been really good on a burger LOL Overall, it smells pretty good if you want small plates. This is a spot to go to now. They do have regular and large size portions, but that's not this place's bag, which is okay. If you're in the business of just trying a bunch of stuff, this is a good spot to go to because they actually have a combo where you can get a few things off of the small place menu to try and share. We ordered cocktails to start the evening, I ordered the passion project and my friend ordered the mango sticky rice. The drinks were decent. For entrees we shared a few of the tapas plate. We ordered the Bangkok hot fries, salt and pepper shrimp, crispy rice tuna, blackjack wings, soft shell crab and the beef jerky. The crispy rice tuna was really good, the salt and pepper shrimp were also good and had a great sauce. Everything else really missed the mark for me. Off the happy hour menu only the crispy rice tuna and the calamari was worth reordering for me. Prices are average for tapas in Atlanta but better go during happy hour. The salad was different but basic. The dressing tasted like thousand island dressing to me. The peanut noodles were slightly spicy and warm but very light peanut taste. Very dim inside. The enoki tempura was the most disappointing for me because every stand of mushroom was coated in batter so in the end it just felt like I was eating fried batter. No enoki texture at all sadly. The tuna crispy rice is so good but it's really expensive at $15 for only 3 pieces. The kimchi fried rice is very tasty with lots of flavor. One of the times I went was for my birthday because the atmosphere seems great for a party! However, it seemed like the ac was broken as it was a little warm and they had a fan/ac unit on the floor that was blowing air. I had a chance to check out Blackjack after I saw it advertised on instagram. There is a parking garage where you can get two hours free with the restaurant code. You will get the code when you enter the restaurant. The ambiance is very nice with it being dark, intimate and Asian influenced decor. Our waiter who was also the bartender, Emanuel was awesome! He provided recommendations and made sure we were taken care of. Excellent service from him! I ordered a craft cocktail which they have a good amount of. It was great! For appetizers we ordered the salt and pepper shrimp which was really good. For my main, I ordered the lobster in a pot. Super cool presentation and it was very flavorful! I was so excited to try this place. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was really great! It's located right in ATL so expect parking to be sketchy (would it be ATL if it wasn't). The reason for 3 stars is that the food was mid (I would love to give 3.5 stars if I could). Some dishes stood out - the peanut noodles, the lobster with the same noodles, salmon crudo, and wings were pretty good too. Everything else was either not great or very mid - the platter, calamari, salmon was not crispy skin and was overcooked, fries, sardine bruschetta. I came here on Mother's Day so it wasn't busy but personally I really like that. Parking is very Atlanta, so I don't really expect much - but they do validate if you park at the deck closest to them. This place has tapas but they also serve big dishes. I personally love a tapas way of eating that way you can try everything. I would highly recommend the Enoki Tempura & Crispy Brie ! All the food was good but those two stood out for me. Not pictured was the Beef Jerky, but it was alright - it didn't feel like jerky as much as it was just cooked beef. My friend and I may have went a little overboard Imao but we were able to try a lot of their dishes and drinks. Overall l'd love for them to incorporate more spice and complex flavor profiles across their dishes, and expand the quantity of items for shareable plates just a tad. The drinks were fire- whether you drink bourbon, gin, or tequila, they'll have a delish cocktail available for you to try for sure. Ambiance good, service pleasant and efficient, for 10:30 pm, food presentation was promising. After catching a show, late night, when choices seemed slim, we decided to take a chance and were grateful to find a bite to eat. Portion sizes were expected to be small, we expected it to be relatively pricey but salt could definitely take a back seat, and tofu could be fresher. Crispy tofu seemed like it has sat on the side for a good bit, enoki mushroom tempura was fresh and would have been perfect if the salt was held back. My friend and I had the best time at Blackjack tonight, we are both visiting Atlanta for work from out of town (California and New York, respectively). Everything fully exceeded our expectations -- from Dante greeting us so warmly after we showed up a little late for our reservation, and then the cocktails that are all from scratch and soooo yummy. I had the Cucumber Salad and the Green Dealer drinks and they both were amazing. Our server Reka helped us each choose the right cocktail vibe each round and she nailed it!! She also helped us select some good food items. I have nothing but good things to say, the small plates were also so delicious. This spot is off Cresent and 10th Avenue in the Tapa Lounge district of West Midtown. Parking is paid in the lot. No validation! Upon entering it's a small waiting area filled with Asian inspired garden setting. The food score from the Health Department was 100 , so kudos!!!! We waited around 30 minutes it was kinda late around 12:30 when we arrived. We were seated behind a red velvet drape that was a medium size dining area with a bar to the left side. And booths along the window. The appetite came speedy but my entree was quite late so I asked to have it boxed up to go. The portions are small so expect tapa style at entree prices. I would totally ask to be placed in her section the next time we come back. They offer happy hour between 5-7 pm and we managed to snag some items from the happy hour menu, and by some, I mean most of it as they had some items not available. From the happy hour menu, we all shared the fried calamari (it was too chewy), wings (breading was flavorful and fried to perfection), curry puffs (the puff could be crispier), cream cheese spring roll (my least favorite). We also ordered some items from the regular menu: salmon ceviche (good portion of salmon and the vin had a good bite from wasabi), spicy peanut noodle (this was just meh but it was spicy for sure), massaman hummus (my absolute favorite from everything we ordered but thought was serving was really small) and kimchi fried rice (definitely shareable and had tons of chicken and bacon!).
