Ranger Station is unfortunately in a loud busy environment. If familiar with the beltline, it takes a lot of effort to get to if visiting for the first time. The inside is beautifully decorated with plenty of western themed items and colors and the vibes are consistent even all the way to the "latrines". The menu did not wow me. There were only a few items that stood out but what I did actually order was also just okay. I was expecting the dip to be hot but it was the exact opposite. The cocktails are amazing and the bartenders are great, so they can make you something off the menu also. It can get crowded there so I'd recommend making a reservation if you can. The best kind of "hipster bar". I know that word is supposed to be a pejorative but I do not intend it that way. This place has that perfect and seemingly contradictory blend of ambiances: hand-selected/rustic/cabin/bougie/cozy/fancy/high-end/home-town/speak-easy. It shouldn't work, but it does. The cocktail menu is made with such loving attention to detail. It looks like a guide to hiking trails. Behind the bar is a beautiful 3D topo map of a mountain range I'm not going to indentify for you ;) The cocktails are spendy but worth it. Made it to Ranger Station after having it bookmarked for a while. We had a group of 6, so made reservations prior to make sure we didn't have any problems. Ranger Station is located above Ladybird food hall and mess. Signs will guide you well. We didn't have issues finding parking if the space on a Saturday night, and while it was busy it wasn't too crowded. Music was good (not too loud) and the ambience was out of an old Western - stuffed animals, wood panels. You would fit right in with some cowboy boots and a nice cowboy hat. But something casual or even trendy will make you feel just as comfortable. We perused the menu and ordered a few drinks and the Truffle fries. Our server was not the most attentive and the drinks did take time but other than that the drinks were made well. My first drink was from the menu but decided to go off beat for the next! Everyone at our table enjoyed their drinks (and yes the fries too). This place closes at 1am, and kitchen closes at 12, so we missed out on ordering more food. But overall this place was fun. Visited Ranger Station on a Tuesday night. Since this is a hidden bar you should definitely make reservation. It was not busy, with only a few patrons at the bar, and other tables. The ambiance of the restaurant was dark and intimate. The walls are adorned with decorations and the seating is a combination of couches and comfy chairs. The servers all seemed to genuinely love working there all wearing smiles and can-do attitudes! My server was very attentive and checked on us often. As far as drinks I ordered the Old Faithful, Thunderbolt and Truth or Consequences. All three drinks were perfectly crafted and delicious. The Truth or Consequences was my favorite - had a nice low spiciness but was super refreshing! The thunderbolt was tasty but I wish it did not have as much ice. The Old Faithful was light and refreshing - a ton of fruit flavors acting on this one. For entrees I order the Smoked Pork belly without walnuts, and the Cauliflower Cake & Herb Salad. The Pork belly was absolutely delicious. The sweet potatoes and apple mostarda was the perfect accompianment. I would come back over and over again for this. The Cauliflower cake was tasty, I wish it was a bit crispier, maybe seared a little more so that there was more of a crunch. The Herb salad was sweet and refreshing. I would eat the herb salad alone. I also order the amazing Truffled Waffle Fries. Perfect as a side or a started, great portion, seasoned perfectly and nice and crispy. Overall I am so glad I stopped by! One of the better programs in ATL. If I'm just comparing this to other ATL bars, it's a 5. If I'm comparing to all bars everywhere a 4. The reason for the 4 over the 5 is that the drink menu isn't huge and seems a bit random. There doesn't seem to be a rationale behind how it's organized. Would love to see it broken down by flavor profiles and add more options to their craft game. That said, they can make almost anything if you have something in mind. But I'm a craft cocktail fan, so the menu is important. Service was top notch! J was our server, and she couldn't have been better. She was spot on with her drink recommendations. Our water never ran out. We never waited to order. She was great. We shared the snack pack, and the pimento cheese was a SLAM DUNK. It was obviously homemade. Amazing. The crackers were divine. Everything, although simple, was memorable. Bathrooms were clean. Seating was really comfortable. We came on a Sunday night at 6 and having a reservations was helpful. The ambience in Ranger Station was very cute, reminiscent of a ski lodge. A very eclectic little place, their holiday drink menu was very eclectic as well. My friend and I shared an appetizer and had a few drinks. We did have to wait a while to get in as they had a private event at that time, however it was completely worth it. This is definitely a place you go to for the ambience than the food and drinks itself. Each drink ranges from $15-$18. So this little Hidden Gem was super dope! When you go inside of the ladybird and go around the corner, and then you end up going upstairs. It is truly a hidden bar situation. It's kind of like in the Attic lol! But, it's so worth it. It's plenty of space, but I would suggest making reservations. It's very dimly lit, which really gives it a speakeasy kind of vibe, it's not like you're going in the Chili's or Fridays to drink lol! But it could also be considered very intimate. You have a bunch of seating available. We sat at the bar. Both of our drinks were pretty good, I got the closest thing to an old fashioned that they had and I was actually pleased by it. The staff was amazing and friendly. They came to talk to us while we were sitting there waiting for our drinks. Have some great conversations from other people at the bar as well. When asked to explain the drinks, they were very knowledgeable and knew exactly what they were talking about. Which I can appreciate, especially if it's a new place that I'm drinking at. If the Atlanta cocktail scene does one thing really well, it's the overwhelming presence of ridiculously detailed themed bars. You can't turn around in ATL without happening upon a bar trying to perfectly emulate something, with everything from Hawaiian kitsch to 60's dinner club to 80's sitcoms. Ranger Station, with its perfectly executed warm and fuzzy 70's ski lodge vibe, might be the best of such spots in town. Located in an almost speakeasy location above Ladybird, stepping into this spot is like stepping back in time. My parents grew up in 70's Colorado, and that influence has been heavy, so seeing Ranger Station's beautifully curated assortment of funky furniture, crackling fireplaces, and vintage glassware, all pulled together by a gorgeous cowhide rug in the middle of the dining room, really made me feel at home. We had stopped in for drinks at their beautiful bar before, but were so impressed that we endeavored to come back again for a meal on a recent visit. Her Snow Bunny, a sparkling cranberry number, was refreshing and served playfully in Santa's boot, while my Yeti was an incredibly fresh electric blue number that incredibly was scented with pine, perfect for matching the vibe. For dinner, we shared, what else, a heaping portion of their cheese fondue, served authentically with the long forks and all, completing our retro dream. Super fun new bar in the heart of the beltline! Lady bird already has such a great ambiance but Ranger Station really took it up a notch. The choice of cocktails were so unique and had a bunch of options. I got a few tequila drinks with vanilla and pineapple and my friend got a gin drink. They were both so phenomenal and different! The best thing about Ranger is their drinks (a wide range of options) and the ambiance. The cocktails are elevated and well thought out. They also are at a reasonable price point in my option. The vibe was also very causal and comforting. It was a weekday so It wasn't as crowded as I'm sure It can be. My only note is that its a little too dark in there. Ordered the northern lights (espresso martini), tried a friends Kodachrome and old faithful. All were delicious, especially loved the Kodachrome's dill aftertaste (supposed to be a sort of cantaloupe martini and while there is a cantaloupe ball in the drink, we agreed we taste more dill than anything- not a complaint). Also got the rolls (great) and Cheeto shishitos. Enjoyed both but to be honest didn't taste much cheeto seasoning. Still good though. Bartender Cameron was super nice and helpful and they seem to be careful to limit the number of patrons so service was quick. The espresso martini was tasty.
