12 is a very cute cocktail bar on the rooftop of Ponce City Market. Now, it was very difficult trying to find this little cocktail bar because it's considered "a speakeasy. " We were able to ask some staff members and they were able to direct us to where we needed to go, but they definitely try to keep it very secretive if I must say. Once we were able to figure out where we were, we were able to get in with no issues; even though they do recommend making reservations, especially during busy times. We were able to easily get some seats at the bar where we ordered some drinks. I do believe they have a very small snack or small bites menu available. Now do not be alarmed, this is a cocktail bar and they do have some beautiful looking drinks, but they are on the pricier side. They do charge additional service fees. For my understanding, a lot of the bars in Ponce City Market do charge additional fees, anywhere from 3 to 5% which does not include your tip. So overall for two drinks I think I paid almost 40 bucks, which to me is pretty much on the high end. The atmosphere is super cute. You're able to take a lot of pictures. It's a lot of photo opportunities, but I'm not sure if I really think the drinks are that worth it. It's not really a casual spot, but it's not super super dressy either. read more

Trying to figure out how to get here was a struggle, but once we did from the time we walked into the door it was amazing! The struggle was figuring out where/ how to get to them. Also I was told to pay when I had a reservation that already gave me access to the bar. The staff on the lower level really needs some training. I would warn you if you think you can just pop in there, since they have a fairly small space. The Chartreuse Swizzle is one of the best drinks I've ever had in my entire life. It was perfectly sweet and smooth. It's a little confusing to find, but it's on the top floor of the elevators inside closest to the main doors off of ponce de Leon. The bartenders were super nice. The only thing that threw me off was the decorations, I know it's silly, but for a bar that markets itself on vibe I think the mark was missed here. You have to sign the same waiver as if you were visiting the rooftop before you can go up. We were escorted to an elevator met with a reception who asked for our reservation after confirming we didn't have one she radioed someone and they said we could sit at the bat. Into another elevator another reception lol (I know) then up some stairs to the bar. This was a very small area as a whole so the reservations make sense Id guess maybe 20-25ppl max capacity. 12 Cocktail Bar really reclaims the Speakeasy essence! I'm tired of these "speakeasies" that are easy to get into, everyone knows about them and they're overrated. 12 is not that! We hadn't even heard of 12 until our friend who's a bartender told us about it. We immediately went on their website and made a reservation via tock. When making a reservation you put down a $20 PP deposit for your night. No big deal since a cocktail is $15 and they had plenty of snacky foods that ensured you could stay around the $20 price point PP if you wanted to. On Monday night we showed up at the check-in desk and gave our names. We were a few minutes past our reservation but it was no problem. The host radioed up to his counterpart and whisked us into an elevator to the 11th floor. From there we were given menus and walked up 1 more flight of stairs to the bar itself and seated. The menus that were given to us (and photographed in my review) are different from what's online. Additionally, they had an excess of gin leftover from an event they had done and were offering gin cocktails. My husband remarked that those gin cocktails should maybe be at the $12 mark as opposed to the $15+ mark so they would use the gin up faster and more people would drink them. I tend to agree but that's neither here nor there. I enjoyed the following drinks: Mai Tai Spritz 7.5/10. It was a more floral mimosa essentially. Really good quality but nothing jaw-dropping. Oaxacan Smash 8/10. It tasted very similar to the Split Personality due to the fact that both cocktails used the same mezcal and had a lime juice component. Coco-Loco - no rating. At this point, I can't honestly tell you how good this drink was because the other two had me feeling a little tipsy. I finished it though so I'm sure it was great! The decor was spot on, the music was an uplifting mix and the clientele was dressed right and looked the part. WOW! That's exactly how I felt when walking into 12 Cocktail Bar. I had always heard about this place, but was never able to go. My sister surprised me with a cocktail class that they offer, and it did not disappoint. 12 Cocktail Bar essentially sits on the roof of Ponce City Market. More specifically in that square above all those games and that mini-golf. It was a little confusing figuring out how to get there, but we eventually figured it out. There is an elevator near Biltong Bar, that you take the bottom level, and then you are escorted up by someone affiliated with the establishment. Our class began at 5:30, but we got there around 5 just so we could check out the place and get a good seat. The place is very nice on the inside. It has a very classy meets eccentric meets industrial type of vibe. I have added in some pictures of the interior for you to take a look. We then took our seats and began our class. We had the entire place to ourselves We were given 4 drink cards (which we could take home.) We had 3 bartenders that were there who were giving descriptions on the drinks, history of alcohol, and so much more. They were very knowledgeable about what they were talking about, and they were happy to answer any of the questions we had. They would teach you how to make a drink, and then volunteers could come up (and actually get behind the bar) and make the drink. It's $20 per person, but the amount is deducted from the total of your bill. There is not a drink menu. You simply tell the bartender what you like and they create a drink from your preferences. The bartenders are extremely creative. I've had a few of their creations and all of them were exceptional. The food menu is really limited, but I had a bite of the chicken skewers and they were flavorful. They recently went out of their way and accommodated my family and I am so appreciative. They are relatively unknown like a genuine speakeasy, but we were told it can get busy on the weekends. They don't have a cocktail menu. So I will say that this establishment went so under my radar in the years that I've been here that I'm offended that I could have not found this sooner. I always look up speakeasies and hidden bars and little gyms like that, you can look at my other reviews to verify that lol, but this one was quite as kept one of the best experiences I've had in the recent months. So first and foremost, on a normal circumstances you need to basically prepay before you go. It's about $20 a person but it'll go towards the bill. When you get there they will usually ask you if you have a reservation so they can put that toward the tab. Now you also have to have somebody lead you or guide you too the bar because you can't get to it on your own necessarily. When I got to Ponce City Market I went to the ticketing booth for the elevator up to the rooftop. You tell somebody that you're trying to get to 12, and then they will lead you to the elevator to get to this establishment. They need to scan their card to get on the elevator so you can't go on your own. Once you get up to the 11th floor you'll get checked in and walk up a flight of steps to get to the 12th floor and then you have it. The spot is really dimly lit and it has a quiet kind of vibe to it. You come in and go looking to the right you'll see a full bar. All the bartenders are nice and friendly. You go to the left and you'll see the seating area. They're two windows there that you actually get a really great view of the city. One view leaves toward Clairemont hotel, any other view is the exact opposite direction. But on a good night it'll be really nice to be able to relax there. Omar was the bartender we met and he was amazing. From my understanding I hear that previously they didn't have a menu you would just tell the bartender what you wanted and they will make you something. Now they have a menu with a number of cocktail drinks and some easy Bites if you are hungry. But there's so many other places to go to in that area that I would suggest going elsewhere to eat, and Omar suggested the exact same thing. You come here for the drinks! I had a Mexican mule. And I had a tequila old fashioned. Both of them were really good. Omar listen to anything I had to say and Taylor to drink as he saw it based on a prescription that I suggested. He came and talked for a little while and gave us the full rundown of the establishment and told us when the good days would be to come back. I would go back just because of him! Excellent customer service on his end, he dealt with everybody in the establishment with ease. But of course the rest of the staff was very nice and friendly as well but he was our primary server so it helped. He actually said that this place does cocktail tastings as well so if you're into that kind of thing then that may be a consideration for you! It's about $120 per person, but you get three or four drinks with that. You actually get to go behind the bar and do it yourself. It's very close set, so they're only about a Max of 12 people. So if you're interested, that will be something to look up. In any event, a hidden gem, great area, solid establishment, a wonderful staff. I would definitely suggest this to others. read more

Okay, so I know it's a "speakeasy" but it was a different type of sketchy getting in. The gentleman at the elevator downstairs was a lot. Even though we had a reservation, we were waiting for like 20 minutes past that time (just standing and him talking) to be let onto the elevator. When we finally got up there(the top floor), we still had to go up some stairs to get into the bar Once inside, it's very cute but small and intimate. You can order a specific drink or ask them to do a custom drink based on a flavor profile you like. They'll bring you something that they come up with. My drink was sweet, fruit, and strong! Not-so-greats: we never got a chance to order any snacks because a server never came back to us after dropping our drinks. Legit 45 mins went by before we gave up trying to get anyone's attention so we could order a second round + food. A server from another table told us "ill get someone for you", but nobody came. So we gave up, got up to go pay for our single round at the bar, and left. Overall, I'd visit again because it's a nice place. My drink was good and my whole party enjoyed theirs as well. We've been here twice now, the first time with a reservation, so when we found ourselves at Ponce City Market with a friend from out of town we retraced our steps to locate the check-in desk for 12. I love how you can tell the server the type of liquor that you would like and the type of drink that you are in the mood for and they will create a drink just for you. Went to this place wanting to love it which speaks a good bit for how big of a letdown it was. Night started out great host was super friendly came to pick us up from 9 mile station, once got in the bar god first round of drinks and that's where it started to go south. First round was fine no issues, ordered second round and it took almost an hour to get drinks, so once second round came out went ahead and ordered third knowing how long it was taking (was told bar was backed up due to a bachelor party that showed up of 5 or 6 people and there was probably only 20-30 people in the bar so didn't really make sense given the number of people on staff) second round I had heard about how the bartenders will make you a drink based off your taste which was the main appeal to this place ,so first drink was a maple old fashion, so second drink I told them I wanted to get something else based off maple.....they served me the exact same drink with a different brand of rye but added a $3 freestyle upcharge....finally had enough waiting after 2 and a half hours and only getting 3 or 4 drinks and actually went up to the bar to ask for the check since had gotten really burnt out on long wait times and the long stretches of I just want another drink....overall last drink was by far the best and would have liked another but the speed of the service at that point had totally killed the mood.
