It pains me to give my favorite place a one star review! I have been going to May Peel since they opened and loved everything about it! This place WAS magical and special and grown and sexy!! The type of place you sit with your person/people and feel whisked away to NYC or a speak easy in another land! The drinks were amazing and unique you could find something here that was not on any drink menu, but what made it fabulous was their staff and their bartenders who spent time getting to know you and suggesting a drink that hit all your senses! Everyone that worked here from the beginning dedicated their time to crafting a world class experience for guests! I say was and loved because this place has gone downhill in the past few months! What was once magical feels bland and unloved! The unique sense of pride that their team once had to work here seems gone! It's no longer full of joy and good times! Favorite bartenders have left and moved to other spots in midtown which makes me so sad, I loved seeing them and vibing here on a Friday and Saturday night, heck any night the last straw was on Saturday night when I popped over for a drink, they were CLOSED!! What bar closes on a Saturday night in Midtown! I hope that management takes note and does something to ensure this space maintains its special/unique flair. Honestly it may be management as to why this all happened. I have met some amazing neighbors in Midtown here and it's sad to see such a gem in Midtown die because it's not well managed! May Peel provides a sexy, intimate ambience - perfect for a girls' night out. The cocktails were made so well we ordered another round! Also shared a cheese board and mushroom flatbread (really good). I think they change out their menu every now and then (please correct me if I'm wrong), but I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. To make it better, our server and other workers were charismatic and seemed like they were having a great time! May Peel is a speakeasy located under the Granda Hotel. We were lucky enough to have someone staying at the hotel help us get down there from the elevator, but it seems like there is another entrance on the side of the building. Absolutely love this bar! It's an entire vibe for a late night experience! They often have live music and events so follow their IG page to stay informed. Hubby and I love sitting at the bar. The bartenders are always pleasant and helpful. It's a great date night option - the lights are usually low. We haven't tried any of the food yet, but do plan to do so one day. So this is the perfect dimly lid old school intimate vibe that you may be looking for on a night out. It's in the Granada hotel, but you may have to go around to the side of the building if you don't have a key of some sort. Which is fine! It's really not descript but there is a doorway on the side of the street which is at the side of the hotel itself, you can go up a couple of steps and there you are. Given a fact of where you are, you have to figure out parking as it comes along, but that's okay because if you're in midtown you know you're in midtown LOL. But there are Ample parking structures around. So this is a establishment that gives off old school speakeasy vibes. It has music playing in the background so you can get a little vibe. The last time I went they had Frankie Beverly playing as soon as I walked in the door so I knew I was going to be all right! It's very dimly lit and there are a lot of candles around so don't expect a live and loud establishment. Unless there's music playing. And by that I mean live music. On Thursday they typically have live music. As of right now, they have Thursday jazz and the saxophone player toggles from upstairs to downstairs with his music. But they're looking into getting a more solidified schedule again. So just stay tuned and I'm assuming you would have to check out their Instagram or the website to see when the live music events are going to occur. We sat at the bar just for a quick drink and to catch some nice chill vibes. I got an old fashioned, pretty well crafted old fashioned with Uncle nearest, no complaints. The staff was very friendly and very talkative, not overly talkative but they were very engaging which is what you want from a bartender. Overall, I can see this being a spot that I would visit frequently. This speakeasy is a cute vibe. Just in time for V-Day they had a special V-Day cocktail menu and the night I went there happened to be a live saxophonist playing old school RnB and neo soul hits. I ordered a Love Potion and an Espresso Martini to drink. The Love Potion had good flavors and presentation, but it wasn't boozy enough for me. The Espresso Martini however, was delicious and very on point. I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. Suki also provided very good service which I always appreciate. Super cute speakeasy in the lower level of the Granada Hotel. Very cozy, dark and sexy space. The mix of music was amazing and set the vibe. The drinks were delicious! Our bartender was super sweet. I was visiting Atlanta for the week and popped in with my girlfriend and friend for drinks. We were impressed the moment we walked in. The vibe was there. This review is for the late night vibe with jazz and the skillful bartender and handcrafted drink, I did not try the food... That is next! I walked here from my apartements and the vibe was super chill with the jazz music playing. I walked to the front of The Granada Hotel and was made aware that if you are not a guest at the hotel then they have their own entrance that is up the steps on the side street of the hotel. We were greeted warmly, the lights were dim and the candles were lit. Very smooth vibe. Apparently they have live music some days, I think the gentle man said Thursday nights. TLDR, this place was really lackluster. I really hope it was just an off night because I can see this place having a lot of potential. We were excited because it was pretty packed throughout the entire night. The interior is really nice: the colors, the bar look and feel. It's a big space, but way too dark and way too loud (I know how I sound). We saw our waitress one time and that was to take our order. She was nice but we didn't see her again. We put in our entire order, food and drinks. 30 minutes later, our food started to come out. At this point, we hadn't received our drinks. Our drinks came out after most of the food was out. People who were seated after and around us got their drinks before us. The food had potential to be quite good, but most of it was lukewarm. Cocktail: No joy in Mudville $20 For $20, I expected something more inspired by a place claiming to be one of the best cocktail bars in Atlanta. The cracker jacks added nothing except floating pieces of small popcorn in my drink. The cocktail was fine, but didn't transcend anything. Friends had: itsy bitsy martini, old fashioned, and the champagne cocktail. They all thought their cocktails were just fine. Egg salad sandwich The filling itself was actually quite nice. The okra was unexpected but welcomed. The bread roll itself... was fine - I'd compare to a Hawaiian bread roll; soft but could've been toasted. The egg salad would've been better served on sliced French bread or a toasted potato bun. Fancy tots... Sigh. I was most excited for this, but they came out borderline cold. Not crispy at all. The menu said it had truffle and black garlic, but I didn't taste any of that. Then again, I only had one tot. I didn't care to eat another. Spanish Meatballs. These were actually tasty (beef + chorizo) served with the tomato sauce. They were bite sized, but just like the other dishes, they were lukewarm. The French bread slices they were served with were stale. I think the bread was unnecessary. The only way to save that was to dip it in the sauce. Croquettes I enjoyed these the most. These were at least crispy and warm. Chips and onion dip Our waitress upsold us on this. She said the chips were house made. They weren't quite sturdy enough to scoop out the onion dip, but they were at least good and crispy. I wish the dip was a little creamier. It was a bit too firm of a dip - similar to cream cheese that was just taken out of the fridge. We also ordered the charcuterie board but that never came out. read more

Started with no valet attendant at the building which is fine but a bit inconvenient when they have a sign and stand for it. Although I thought the bar was pretty and cute, the experience was awful. They were rude to us because we were a group of about 10, majority SITTING at the bar but some were standing and talking (as you do at bars) They patrolled us and we weren't allowed to stand around the bar. Meanwhile there were plenty empty tables that we could sit at AROUND US, they only had the option of a minimum spend. Fair - we didn't get a table because we all just wanted 1 drink. The manager was watching us but made the bartender be the one to tell us we couldn't stand. We weren't in anyone's way because the tables around us were empty! For an upscale EXPENSIVE bar, I just think the experience was awful, they were rude, and the ambiance was just fine (music volume was low). Would not recommend read more
