Lemon Meringue Pie and Banana Daiquiri

The James Room is hidden behind a café that is open during the day and at night you're surprised with a really cool intimate spot that has a DJ spinning r&b at the ideal volume. Their selections change seasonally, and I was excited to try one of their newest cocktails. The menu is categorized by drink type (signature, trademark, etc.) and I excitedly tried a cocktail suggested by the amazing and attentive bartender, Raul. I'm so glad that I heeded his suggestion and tried the Lemon Meringue Pie cocktail because it was balanced and great for a dessert cocktail. The passionfruit meringue on top was sheer perfection. When I'm back in Atlanta I eagerly look forward to returning to The James Room!

We arrived 35 minutes before close for 1 drink as a night cap for our evening. We were welcomed politely by the host who invited us in to the speakeasy but did advise it would likely be close to last call. We understood and let him know we only wanted a quick drink anyway. Unfortunately, we were greeted rudely with a dirty look from the bartender when we entered. He looked us up and down, and feel because we did not fit the clientele, as two Caucasians, he gave a look to the host that we were not welcome. The host apologized, and let us know he would not serve us. The host did not need to give us the apology tour because it was obvious the demographic they wanted and would not have been given the same level of service as the others in the bar. We were welcomed back another time by the host, but are from out of state, and advised we would not be back.

Everything about this place is so cute and luxurious! The fact that it looks like you're walking into a little bakery and then end up at a speakeasy is so brilliant Typical lounge prices for drinks, but the experience is definitely worth going at least once I will say the music was a bit loud so it was hard for conversation, but that would be my only complaint

The James Room speakeasy is a great place to come and catch up with friends, sit at the bar to hang out, or even go on a date. I've had their wings before which I remember to be pretty decent. Prices for drinks are not cheap, but pretty standard with the surrounding area and standard bars. The bartenders are very friendly. No complaints!

Stopped by after a concert at the tabernacle on a Friday night. My friend and I were having a girl's night and celebrating her birthday a little early. We sat at the bar with no wait. Bartender was quick with the drinks and even gave the birthday girl a few drinks on the house. I was most impressed with the chef. I ordered the Mac and cheese with chicken. However, it was a little delay with it being made. She personally came out and apologized for the delay and offered me some wings while I wait. The wings were bomb and so was the Mac and cheese. I had a great time for a reasonable price with excellent service and a nice ambiance with great music and a mixed laidback crowd.

This is a beltline speakeasy with different djs and themes each night. I love the musical variety and the cute decor on the inside. Great for a night with friends or a date.

If you know, you know -- and if you don't, well... good luck finding the door. The James Room is tucked away on the Beltline like a secret your cool cousin won't tell you, and honestly, I hope it stays that way. Once inside, it's all smooth music and smoother drinks. They serve food here -- I came for the cocktails -- but trust me, these drinks are the main course, the dessert, and the after-dinner story you'll tell your friends (without revealing too much, of course). Each one is crafted with intention, mystery, and possibly wizardry. The vibe? Upscale casual. Like if James Bond ditched the tux for a leather jacket and called it a night out. Five stars for the experience, the craftsmanship, and the fact that I now feel like I belong to an exclusive club... that serves excellent cocktails in moody lighting. Cheers.

It's been over a year since I have been to The James Room and they still haven't lost their touch! So much so that I've been here two Saturday's in a row! I came last week Saturday and they literally salvaged the night me and my girlies were having. We stayed until the dj finished his set! I had their espresso martinis (three to be exact) while there. This Saturday my best friend was in town for the Beyoncé concert so we came here before she flew back to Florida. This time in addition to three espresso martinis, I had their mushroom flatbread and it was delicious! Jordan was our server and he definitely took care of us. My best friend enjoyed her crab cakes and drinks too. Overall, we had so much fun! He played a few Beyoncé songs because of the patrons in their Cowboy Carter gear. Lol. Music: Dj Kerosene I believe is his name and he's there every Saturday. He literally incorporates everything into his set. I told him I was from Miami and I heard a little bit of Rick Ross and Trick Daddy. Parking: Paid parking in the garage.

St James has always been THAT sexy spot. Came here on a Thursday night and there was live music! A DJ who was backed up by person playing a keytar. It was a very eclectic experience. My friend and I stopped in for a drink and to chill. I got the peach cobbler, which was delish. My friend got an old fashion which was not made to her standard. But they remedied that for her. The crowd was sophisticated and beautiful, that night was a great reminder to visit more often! There is a parking lot behind the building. Parking was only $9 for the time we stayed, but is hourly.

This speakeasy is wonderfully awesome, unique, & inviting! From the plush decor to the intensely delicious cocktails to the cordial bartenders, I am glad we wandered into this magical place! Great spot for a 1st date!

Behind the magic door waits an evening of enjoyment. 01.31.2025.

Absolutely not your typical quiet, subdued speakeasy. By day, it functions as a café serving breakfast, lunch, coffee, and pastries in a bright and inviting space. By night, it transforms into a moody cocktail lounge with tapas style offerings, all behind the hidden entrance aka bookcase/door. The energy is higher, and the vibe is always buzzing. The dim lights and music transforms the venue into a vibrant, intimate escape. The craft made libations and the bar scene is a vibe all itself as its offers a unique experience of social interaction and good energy. The menu is a selection of food items that transition from daytime café options to evening lounge bites. The food selection at night is more limited, focusing on light bites and shareable plates. A wonderful reminiscent of a true speakeasy. Ms. Que, you're the perfect person for welcoming customers in.

I never foresee and problems here at the James Room I always have a wonderful time but I have to say that I arrived yesterday expecting the vegan meatloaf on the menu and was SUPER disappointed that it wasn't so I opted in for the Arugula salad and the vegan mushroom flatbread with truffle oil and it was heavy on the oil, not my favorite. My chocolate martini was amazing.

Espresso martini, I'm unsure of the other cocktail

I didn't realize that the two were connected! FYI, if you sit downstairs, you'll be seated next to where the live music performers will be playing, so it will be louder there. As for the drinks, I tried the Zombie. I loved it so much, I ordered a second one instead of trying a different one! It tasted sweet and slightly tropical with the rum and spiced liqueur. It also had some absinthe, which I was worried about when I first ordered it since I hate the taste of it (not a big fan of black licorice flavors), but I didn't taste it at all! Overall, this place had such a great vibe to it!

Our server, Robert, was fantastic--attentive without being overbearing. He made great recommendations and was happy to move us from a small table to a more comfortable booth when we asked. They offer a wide variety of alcoholic drinks, but we opted for "Mocktail #2," which was pink, fruity, and refreshing with watermelon, mint, and lime soda. We started with the Chargrilled Louisiana Oysters, which were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious--honestly, the best I've ever had. The Volcano Roll was also great--generous in size and perfect for sharing. It's listed as having "spicy crab," but I didn't find it spicy at all (a plus for me!). If you want more heat, wasabi is served on the side. For entrees, I had the Salmon Teriyaki and my husband had the Braised Beef. My salmon was perfectly cooked and came with fluffy white rice and mixed vegetables. But he definitely won the entree round--his beef was tender, flavorful, and served with what tasted like sweet mashed potatoes (the menu said red potatoes). The glazed carrots were slightly firm but still tasty. To top it all off, we were served a mini chocolate cake with whipped vanilla icing--soft, rich, and perfect for sharing. The inside isn't the largest resource been to, but has plenty of seating. The atmosphere is relaxed and we saw people dressed up and down. Overall, we had a great experience. There's no pressure, no strict dress code--just a come-as-you-are energy, and people genuinely receive you that way. Within five minutes of being there, I already felt comfortable. Everyone was so friendly--the bartenders, the people around us, even the random interactions felt warm and easy. The space itself is really cool too. They have artwork featuring icons like Prince, Tupac, and Biggie, which added to the overall atmosphere. I sat at the bar and had a little light banter with the bartender who is a brother looking to be in his late 30's-early 40's. When I asked about two fruity cocktails from the menu, he flat-out said he wasn't going to make them. That alone was off-putting. Trying to move forward, I asked what he specialized in, and he said he'd "come up with something." I agreed--but very clearly stated: no rum, because my body does not react well to it. After watching him make drinks for people who ordered after me, he eventually handed me a cocktail I never even saw him prepare. That already raised a flag. I took a few sips, and sure enough--my stomach immediately started reacting the exact way it does when I've had rum. When I asked what alcohol he used, he said, "I don't even know." That response alone tells you everything you need to know. At that point, I reminded him I specifically said no rum. Instead of taking accountability, he tried to argue and backtrack. Let me be clear--when a customer tells you not to use a specific liquor, you don't ignore it, guess, or "forget." That's basic service and basic respect. This situation completely threw off my evening, as I had plans afterward and ended up feeling sick. To make matters worse, I reached out to management and received no response. That lack of accountability speaks volumes. At the end of the day, this wasn't just a bad drink--it was careless service. This staff does not prioritize customer care, and that's a problem. If you choose to visit, be very direct, pay close attention, and don't assume your requests will be respected.

Italian Steakhouse Says It All - The Best of All Worlds…read more Walked into IL Premio on a Monday night and was told there was an hour wait for a table, so I headed to the bar- fortunately, a seat was open. I started with one of my favorite Reposados by Herradura. For my Crudi, I ordered the Ricciola alla Puttanesca, what i thought was going to be a classic Italian seafood dish that traditionally features ricciola (Italian amberjack) in puttanesca sauce. The menu noted it was made with yellowtail, which piqued my curiosity. I expected the ricciola to be pan-seared or lightly grilled and finished with the sauce, or served with the sauce spooned over the top. To my surprise, the dish arrived as thinly sliced raw yellowtail, presented sashimi/crudo-style. Each slice was topped with a small amount of sauce infused with capers, Taggiasca olives, Calabrese chiles, and possibly sun-dried tomatoes, all classic puttanesca ingredients. Microgreens completed the presentation. This could be described as a "ricciola crudo with puttanesca-style garnish" rather than a traditional cooked ricciola alla puttanesca. Essentially, the chef uses the puttanesca flavor profile (capers, olives, chiles, tomato, oil) as a raw topping instead of cooking the fish in the sauce. While it's raw, it's a modern, crudo-style interpretation inspired by puttanesca flavors and I'm a fan. I'll order it again and again. For my Secondi, I had the Risotto ai Funghi, a classic Italian dish featuring creamy arborio rice with shiitake and hen-of-the-woods (maitake) mushrooms and a hint of lemon. Served piping hot, it was rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. For dessert, I enjoyed another Reposado by Herradura. IL Premio is so much more than a steakhouse. The food is thoughtfully prepared, the atmosphere is refined, service by Janlan was excellent and it is a fitting restaurant for an outstanding hotel property.
