Collard Greens and Crawfish Dip

First time trying this well known upscale dining carribean Haitian inspired restaurant. Such a vibe right in the heart of Atlanta. We didn't have a reservation but the hostess was able to take us in less than 20 Minutes. Our server Mariah was very kind , made sure we had specific needs for our entrees. I had the salmon in a light earthy curry with coconut rich spinach and carrots that was delish. Others in my party enjoyed their dishes as well. Great music , food, and fun. I would definitely return.

Daily Catch Rundown

Made reservations to celebrate a friend's birthday at Rock Steady this past Sunday and had an amazing time. I was scared initially because I was doing meatless for the month and didn't think I could find anything on the menu. But, that thought was quickly debunked. I ordered the pineapple jerk cauliflower which was arguably the best thing I've ever tasted. The server even offered to make one of the entrees vegetarian, but I was so full from the cauliflower I couldn't indulge. We ordered the bredda bredda and hot stepper cocktails. My friend had the lamb egg rolls and the daily catch rundown with salmon. Everything was superb! After dinner we went to their lounge area upstairs and danced ALL NIGHT LONG! A time was had.

So this is a very lounge type situation. So if you're into lounges this will be a good shop for you to take. I suggest going on and then bright and reserving. But also read the fine print. The last time that I went I got entry but it was only for standing role in. I probably should have paid more attention to what I was signing up for. But let's learn so now I can tell you that. Anyway, before that, you'll get there. You'll park on the street. Or in a parking structure or whatever. But basically you kind of get it how you live. It's pay parking no matter where you go. You go to the front of the building which is facing the main street and you'll go upstairs. If you go to the side that's where the dining room area is and if you're not eating then you probably don't want to go there. Go to the front and walk upstairs after they check you. The drinks there are okay. Went there for a couple, and ended up leaving. Now because I reserve one thing and not another, they actually just basically kicked us out at an hour because other people are coming. While I wasn't really a fan of that, I understood why because technically the people who are coming made a reservation. So I totally get that. All I'm saying is check your reservation notes. It was a good vibe, when I went there. Live DJ there so that was pretty cool as well. I appreciate it. Some good aesthetics and some good music. Would I go back again, yeah I would, I'd probably go back under better circumstances to where I actually would reserve like I wouldn't until it the first time. And actually be able to enjoy the night. But for the quick duck end it was actually pretty decent. Some really good music being played.

First time here and this place is a vibe. The food was flavorful and overall tasted great. The atmosphere was welcoming and worth a trip back. There's also an upstairs area you can enjoy with music as well, will check that out next visit. The staff was also welcoming and attentive.

Service: I made a reservation because I heard this spot can get packed (wall to wall), unfortunately I was late but the hostess (with a smile) seated us immediately. Ambiance: The minute you walk in, you feel the vibe of a romantic vacation. The decor was very colorful, calming, and organized nicely. Only change recommended is add a lil lighting (too dark) and adjust temperature (too cold). Food/drinks: Our server Lamar was the BEST; very knowledgeable about the food & drink selections, funny, and efficient!! We ordered a few small plates; Jerk Lamb Rolls and Grill Jerk Wings. The lamb was a lil tuff, but the Jerk Wings were delicious! Our cocktail "Dem Suga" was strong, so drink with caution (for the light drinkers) LOL!! The jerk wings were so good, I ordered the Grilled Jerk Chicken, with collard greens, Diri Kole Rice, but as I'm typing I just realized my plantains were missing (blame it on the drink lol). The jerk chicken & greens were so flavorful, however the rice was a lil dry. As for Oxtail Rigatoni it was different choice selection than accustomed to, but not bad. Dessert to end the night, we loved the STICKY TOFFEE RUM CAKE and the BREAD PUDDING! Sorry no pics, took to go. ATTENTION: I wanted to give 5 stars because we had such a great night, but I was disappointed with the 20% automatic gratuity (for a party of 2) which was for the house only. In addition, we tipped another 20% to our waiter (well deserved though). This automatic gratuity is becoming the norm (my fault for not checking the notation on the menu prior to making a reservation) for many restaurants. Well...I always look on the bright side. I enjoyed the night, ate good, and met a nice couple with full of laughs all night!

Wow! Came into town and was so happy that I was recommend to go to this place. Although the wait was long the food being as good as it was made it an after thought. We sat in the communal dining area which was cute and intimate. Entree: BERBERE LAMB CHOPS sooo good and flavorful love the yogurt sauce that was paired with it. Got JANGA DIP and the GRILLED JERK WINGSwl with bbq for apps and I am still thinking about that Dip! There's also a lounge attached up stairs that had a great DJ and also offers dining services!

I brought in the new year at Rock Steady with a group of friends and we had the time of our lives. We arrived around 11:30 pm so the place was already packed, but luckily, we were able to get a table by the DJ booth. In no time, the servers came over to bring drinks and take our food orders. Since there were about 10 of us, we ordered different dishes to sample. Everything tasted PHENOMENAL; from the jerk wings, to the red snapper with rice, and even the Brussel sprouts. The servers were extra efficient when placing the dishes on the table and make sure we had water or anything else we needed. The DJs were playing upbeat songs and definitely catered to the Caribbean and mixed age group of the night. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone looking for an elevated dinner or even a lively night in the city.

Birthday dinner for 4 We approached the property, passed the restaurant and made that first right turn off of Marietta street. After I made the turn, I saw the sign for valet parking. I pulled in and the attendant took my phone number and advised I would receive a text with my valet ticket and I could pay via the app or with cash when I returned. So parking was convenient but be prepared to spend $20 plus tip. I dropped off my key fob and we took the short walk over to the restaurant. I approached the host podium, was greeted warmly and advised we had a reservation. She quickly checked us in and asked us to stand to the side, while they wrapped up our table. Soon after we were scooped up, led through the dimly lit dining room to a nice sized table that could have easily accommodated about 6-7 people. It was located in the middle of the dining room so we got a nice view of everything. We were provided menus and a few minutes later our server Rami came over and gave us the full rundown of the menu, highlighting some of the more popular items. He advised that the menu and restaurant leaned into the Afro Caribbean culture. We could definitely tell that from the music mix they were playing in the background. He gave us some time to take in his suggestions and fully review the menu, then returned with some waters and we were ready with our order. For drinks, Wifey and I tried a Haitian lager called Prestige and my daughters both ordered the Guava Island mocktail. Wifey added the Tostones & Plaintains appetizer. We asked a few questions about the entries and Rami had clear answers and let us know all possible options. I ordered the Jerk chicken meal and Wifey ordered the Shrimp and Grits. My oldest ordered the Oxtail Rigatoni and my youngest ordered the Berbere Lamb Chops. The drinks came out quickly and soon after all the food was coming out. Everything looked delicious, with generous portion sizes. We all started digging in and the food tasted even better than it looked. My Jerk chicken, which came with collard greens and rice and peas, had great seasoning. Sometimes Jerk chicken can be too spicy and I usually ask the spice level before I order, but this time I took a leap of faith. As we were talking around the table there were zero complaints about any of the food. Wifey finished all of her Shrimp and Grits while the rest of us had a little bit to take home in to go boxes. As we were packing up our server brought over a complimentary birthday dessert for my daughter. It was a small Pineapple Coconut cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A few of us shared it and it was very good. In addition to the complimentary dessert, we placed a to go order for 2 Sticky Toffee Rum Cake and 1 Plantain Bread Pudding. As we were settling up the bill, the manager Eric came by to check our experience. We had nothing but great things to report. 5/5 stars all the way around. Clean interior, fast and pleasant service, delicious food and our server Rami was a winner. He was pleasant, animated and very knowledgeable about the menu. I will say the place is a little pricey, with 20% gratuities automatically added for a party of 4, but I would definitely recommend Rock Steady for any occasion. We also found out that there was a lounge on the second level that was playing RnB music that night. We will have to check that out next time.

I'm a little nervous writing this review because...I don't want my favorite spot to become so busy they don't have space for me! Run don't walk to Rock Steady!! The food and ambiance at rock steady are AMAZING! My friend and I made a late reservation (10:15pm) and were seated rapidly. Our server, Vaughn, was friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered the the wings, plantain and tostones for appetizer. Let me tell you something about the food at Rock steady...it is some of the best food I've ever had. The wings were big, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. They had the right amount of sauce. And all food is made to order and you can certainly taste it. My friends oxtail pasta was so good we were licking the plate. I have had dreams about this food since we ate there! It was a long wait before receiving our entrees (about 1 hour-1.5 hours). Order right when you sit down. We didn't care too much because we were so full off of the appetizer and the music was good by the time the mains arrived we had digested and our stomachs were ready again.

After dress shopping with my God mother, we stopped by Rock Steady for an early birthday lunch/dinner. We valeted in the parking lot (like I normally do and walked in. I didn't make reservations prior because it was a spontaneous decision on my end, so we had to wait at the bar until a table was available. Literally in the midst of us about to make a drink order, our table was ready. We were greeted by our waiter (I forgot his name) and he gave my god mother several suggestions since this was her first time dining here. We ordered the jerk lamb egg rolls as an appetizer with a glass of Riesling and an espresso martini. For dinner, I went with the veggie curry Alfredo with shrimp and my god mother had their honey mango shrimp, but the sauce was on the side. Overall, my god mother was impressive and loved the restaurant. Our waiter surprised her with a delicious birthday treat to top the night. I will continue to return to Rock Steady for the vibes and food.

I love a place where you can come as you want and have an amazing time either way. Dress up for the ball, or come in sweats either way you will enjoy your time here. I started with the beef empanadas , and it was delicious. That orange sauce it came with really took it to the next level. THE FISSHHHH !!! Oh my goodness! Absolutely delish. Crusted perfectly with a picklizz thats not too spicy but adds a little kick. I added the cauliflower as a side even though it's an appetizer . Man oh man it was delicious. Not your typical jerk flavor. A touch of heat but more so sweet. I was ton between the apple dessert and the plantain one. I have to say, I would probably pick the apple one if I was going back again. The plantain bread budding had a nice taste and the ice cream was different. I just didn't like the bread pudding had dry parts. It wasn't evenly soaked or dredged soo not every bite was consistent in the taste . Service was great. There's also a club upstairs. I wanted to check it out but the line was long and they were charging at the door. I'm not sure if it's free before 12 but maybe next time

Went for the day party during Labor Day weekend. Great vibes & music. My only complaint is that the drinks tasted more like juice or puree and was not worth it for the price. I did hear that the food here is really good so maybe I'll go back & stick to just ordering food.

We decided to come here for our annual friends holiday dinner. Parking - I did valet, which was $20-25 my friends parked on the street or Ubered. Always look for street parking first. Service: We made reservations, but we didn't have to wait at all. They run a tight ship there lol you get 2 hrs to eat, food comes out quickly and our server was kind and attentive. The 2 hrs can be a put intense but I was fine with it. Ambience/crowd: I would say mid to late thirties is the youngest. Very young professionals crowd and the ambience is very date night sexy vibe. Food/drink:10/10 no notes on the food, I'm not a huge drinker so I had tequila and soda. The pasta with salmon is perfection Favorite thing: the vibe and food! Least favorite thing: the time limit but I get it at the same time. Will I be back? And Why - Yes!!! Gotta try everything on the menu.

Ask the Community - Rock Steady - Atlanta

Is this restaurant overly loud? Wanting to go for a birthday dinner but my grandparents will be there as well.

Yes the upstairs part is louder downstairs has music but not as loud

How does this restaurant split the bill for large groups?

They have little handheld credit card readers that each individual can pay on. We were a party of 9 and everyone paid individually :) Enjoy!

Gluten free options?

Yes. Salad.

Are kids welcomed for the restaurant?

I wouldn't bring any

Do they offer valet? If so how much?

Sorry, I'm not sure. I took an Uber.

Can you call to order food for pickup?

Yes

Is there a Age requirement?

I don't think there is for the restaurant, but they did check ID to get in the upstairs lounge.

Is there a cover charge?

No, there isn't a cover charge. But it is highly recommended you make reservations on their site, if you like to get seated.

Are there any nights where the DJ *doesn't* play house music?

I'm not sure I went on a Saturday & went to the lounge upstairs they played old R&B

Am I likely to get a table if I walk up on a Saturday?

Not likely. Reservations are highly recommended. You will wait if you don't have a reservation.

How's parking? Easy? Valet? Public?? Public, but plan to walk some blocks to the establishment? lol

$15 for valet. There's street parking near the restaurant and a free parking garage down the street in Le Fat and BarTaco. Parking is limited.

What a cool place. Discovered it incidentally while in downtown Atlanta. Upscale with a dress code…read morethankfully. The entrance code can be obtained from their website or local hotel concierges. Dial the number on the antique phone and the door magically opens. The staff super friendly and helpful. The bartenders are the best, clearly passionate about their work. I highly encourage you to try one or several of their signature cocktails. I sampled the Left Bank Martini and Vesper. As expected they are fully stocked with Pappy Bourbon, hard to find Amaro Noni. Ask a bartender about the ice block. The place is spacious unlike other speakeasys I've been to. Lots of niche areas with couch reservations, pool table available. I sat at the bar and had a little light banter with the bartender who is a brother looking to be in his late 30's-early 40's. When I asked about two fruity cocktails from the menu, he flat-out said he wasn't going to make them. That alone was off-putting. Trying to move forward, I asked what he specialized in, and he said he'd "come up with something." I agreed--but very clearly stated: no rum, because my body does not react well to it. After watching him make drinks for people who ordered after me, he eventually handed me a cocktail I never even saw him prepare. That already raised a flag. I took a few sips, and sure enough--my stomach immediately started reacting the exact way it does when I've had rum. When I asked what alcohol he used, he said, "I don't even know." That response alone tells you everything you need to know. At that point, I reminded him I specifically said no rum. Instead of taking accountability, he tried to argue and backtrack. Let me be clear--when a customer tells you not to use a specific liquor, you don't ignore it, guess, or "forget." That's basic service and basic respect. This situation completely threw off my evening, as I had plans afterward and ended up feeling sick. To make matters worse, I reached out to management and received no response. That lack of accountability speaks volumes. At the end of the day, this wasn't just a bad drink--it was careless service. This staff does not prioritize customer care, and that's a problem. If you choose to visit, be very direct, pay close attention, and don't assume your requests will be respected.
