2 Eggs Applewood Smoked Bacon waffle
Tashombe H.

Brunch with friends during MLK weekend. The waffle was crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. It held up to the butter and syrup very well. The bacon was perfectly crispy and the eggs weren't overcooked. Playoff games were on the tv. The music was a little too loud for my preference but other guests were enjoying it! The service was attentive without being overbearing. I was with a party of 12. Food didn't sit to wait on our server to bring it. Other staff ran food out while it was hot. Garage parking nearby was cheaper than street parking. I'm almost never on that side of town but would definitely drop in again and recommend to others.

A friend and I had lunch here during happy hour on a Tuesday and the entire experience was delightful. Our waitress Necia was exceptionally hospitable. We couldn't narrow down what we wanted from the happy hour menu so we followed her suggestion and ended up having everything. Every single thing we a had was phenomenal, the cauliflower was the biggest surprise. For drinks we wanted something sweeter than a lemon drop so Necia made us lavender infused lemon drops that really hit the spot. We had such a great experience it's easy to say we will be back.

J'ouvert Caribbean Kitchen & Bar in Atlanta never misses. Every time I walk in, the energy hits you first, then the hospitality seals the deal. Their bar manager, Tatianna, sets the tone; she's warm, friendly, and runs that bar like a pro. You feel taken care of the moment you sit down. The food? Serious heat. The snapper is flavorful and flaky, the jerk chicken is smoky with just enough kick to remind you you're in a real Caribbean spot, not some watered-down imitation. Everything comes out tasting like someone in the kitchen cares. And the cocktails stand tall. The piña colada is smooth and creamy, no artificial nonsense. The Hornitos tequila cocktail has that perfect tropical punch without being overly sweet. But the star for me was the Haku Japanese vodka cocktail; crisp, balanced, and dangerously easy to sip. If you're looking for a place with great vibes, great service, and a menu that actually delivers, J'ouvert deserves a spot in your rotation.

Enjoyed a great Sunday brunch at J'ouvert! I called for a table for 10, and they were great about having our table ready when we arrived. We had great service and the ambiance was great! There is a DJ and bottomless mimosas. We had a lovely server as well. I want to come back for brunch buffet on a Saturday. My chicken was dry on the chicken and waffles. Jerk wings and the hash looked good.

Stopped by J'ouvert afterwork to checkout their $5 after work happy hour and it did not disappoint. I arrived before my friend so I sat at the bar and enjoyed one of the fresh margs and the service was great. The bartender was attentive and helped me close out my bill quickly once my friend arrived so we could be seated in the dining area. My friend and I decided to order the entire happy hour menu so we could try one of everything and split the bill at the end, and it was perfect! The dj and ambiance were a vibe! The cocktails and chicken veggie dumplings were my favs for sure! I'll def be back soon!

Have you ever had an oxtail grilled cheese sandwich? If you haven't displace will change your life. The service is amazing. It feels like I'm at home. Eating a great meal. The drinks are great. I love the bartender here!

12.00 cornbread

Much as I love to support my black owned restaurants. Some of you all have to do better. You want to charge $12.00 for this little azz slice of cornbread but yet I have to drink soda out a can. Not to mention the host/service was a bully and lied and tried to argue us down about ordering it. You charge so much and offer so little when it come service its a shame also please train your host/server ( JD ) restaurant etiquette and to think you charge a 20% service fee and don't even have receipt paper or offer service worth that price. PLEASE START PROVIDING THE SERVICE WORTHY ENOUGH FOR THE OVERPRICED DISHES YOU CHARGE. And also please work out a partnership with Coke' a customer shouldn't have to pay for two sodas just to have them mixed. (Also I will be contacting my bank about the forced price I had to pay for something I didn't order ! YOUR $12.00 CORMBREAD) Seeing we were told that it cant be removed and no it want eaten JD was advised that take it back.

Returned for dinner on Saturday with my Caribbean friends because they wanted to check it out and catch a vibe. They were running behind so I sat at the bar and ordered a drink and appetizer. I had the Oil Me Down again and the Juju Golden Fritters recommended by the bartender Ken. I wasn't a big fan of the appetizer. It tasted like they were missing something. I figured adding more curry chickpea coulis would do the trick, but it didn't. Once my friends arrived, they placed their drink orders with Ken and then we relocated to a table. To be honest, it was difficult to find something on the menu after the appetizer so I played it safe and ordered the Jouvert Spring and added shrimp. My Trini friend enjoyed their doubles. My Jamaican friend ordered plantains and jerk chicken and thought they were decent. Our meal was ok. It was pretty pricey, but then again, what isn't these days. As always, the staff is always friendly and attentive but this wouldn't be my first choice to grab a meal and catch a vibe on a Saturday night. Music: They didn't have a dj (he leaves after brunch) and they played amapiano while we were there. Parking: Paid parking in the garage or on the deck. Overall, it wasn't the vibe we were looking for on a Saturday night. Which was a bit disappointing.

Came for the Happy Hour specials - $5 drinks and small plates - with a friend. Sat at the bar while waiting for my friend as they don't seat incomplete parties & decided to stay at the bar as the bartender, Shelby was the absolute best! All the staff were great and friendly. I only had the food specials but the dumplings and beef patty were both very tasty. My friend's street corn was plated nicely. They also have Carib beer. I don't drink beer but my Trinidadian friend was so excited that they had it. The rum punch was A1! The layout and decor of the restaurant is very chic and nice. It looks very nice inside and outside. They have patio seating. Paid Parking is available on the street and in the deck. I will return!!

Ms. Necia SAVED MY BIRTHDAY! I came here after a reservation at a nearby restaurant went awry. Ms. Necia saw how stressed I was and went above and beyond in her service--i was SO relieved by the end of the evening! We had the codfish fritters, shrimp appetizer, chicken dumplings & the steak sandwich. The food was beyond incredible. I'm of Caribbean descent and it's been so long since I had codfish cooked like my Grandma's. I had the ginger cucumber cocktail beverage and we also ordered a house margarita. Every single item we had was SO good and they took such good care of us. They even offered to take pictures of us for my birthday. The ambiance was great as well, everyone around us seemed to be having a good time and it was such an easy going atmosphere. I had so many rough things happen to me that day but by far, my experience at Jouvert was the best way to end my birthday. I'm excited to come back and I just know the brunch will be fantastic!! They will absolutely be seeing me again. Thank you so much!!

They have a brunch buffet on Saturdays!!!!!! There is free 15 minute parking if you just want a take-out order. There are plenty of parking garages for dine-in. I think I only paid $2 for an hour of parking. The place is extremely clean on the inside and smells really nice. Both servers were nice as well. I came here thinking I would order a simple dish when I discovered that they have a Saturday Brunch. I was able to try the Yahd Man chicken, fish nuggets, sauteed shrimp, creamy grits, bacon, plantains, pancakes, eggs, and pancake toppings. Everything tasted amazing and is well worth another visit.

So this was a really cool spot to try some Caribbean food. I didn't have any complaints and I did try quite a bit on the happy hour menu (just about everything lol). It's very nicely decorated and there's plenty of staff walking around. You have to pay to park in the uptown area so you're probably paying under $15 for 2 hours. But there's parking right in front of the building so at least it'll be easy to access it, if not, there's other places around and structures around to park at in that area. I came for happy hour and tried a bunch of things on the menu. They have a lot on the menu including food and drinks but I was just coming for the jerk chicken honestly LOL. This will be a cool spot to try happy hour at if you are in the area. The happy hour is from 5:00 to 8:00, so that's a much longer time than anybody else. A lot of times people will try to in their happy hour at maybe about 6:00 or so, but this one goes till 8:00. So this is actually really really good. When I went there weren't a lot of people there, but I hear us the night goes on and as the weekend gets closer to get some a little more packed so keep that in mind. Street corn - The street corn was good. It was not a really big portion, it was basically like a half of a Cobb split into. So aside from the portion it was pretty decent flavor. Jerk wings - The jerker wings were good. They came in about four for the happy hour portion. Now you can get more if you'd buy the full portion, but you have to balance out how much you're getting versus the price that you're paying per wing. The wings came in a sauce that was all over the the plate but to me that it wasn't tossed in the sauce. Because you basically tasted the char on the chicken but not the actual jerks seasoned sauce. So I had a remedy for that but I'll get to that in a second. But you most likely will have to get a side of sauce to help it along. Because without the sauce, the chicken only taste like chicken. Jamaican beef patty- The beef patty was okay. It wasn't anything I would go back for. The meat. Seemed like it was super seasoned and hot and fresh, but the pastry didn't seem like it was hitting on all cylinders. It tasted almost like it was store-bought or something on those lines. LOL. I'm not sure, and I couldn't put my finger on it, but something about the pastry seemed a little bit odd. It wasn't terrible but it was just something different about this that stood out in my mind when I was eating. Chicken veggie dumpling - the chicken and the veggie dumpling situation was really really good. They were fried a little hardrer than what I would like them but they were very flavorful and the sauce that they gave was amazing. They came with four of them for the happy hour price. Now here is what I mentioned earlier, the teriyaki sauce you get with the dumplings goals on everything. It was good with the beef patty, it was good with the jerk wings, it really made everything better! This sauce is a major key alert!

I sat at the bar and had a little light banter with the bartender who is a brother looking to be in his late 30's-early 40's. When I asked about two fruity cocktails from the menu, he flat-out said he wasn't going to make them. That alone was off-putting. Trying to move forward, I asked what he specialized in, and he said he'd "come up with something." I agreed--but very clearly stated: no rum, because my body does not react well to it. After watching him make drinks for people who ordered after me, he eventually handed me a cocktail I never even saw him prepare. That already raised a flag. I took a few sips, and sure enough--my stomach immediately started reacting the exact way it does when I've had rum. When I asked what alcohol he used, he said, "I don't even know." That response alone tells you everything you need to know. At that point, I reminded him I specifically said no rum. Instead of taking accountability, he tried to argue and backtrack. Let me be clear--when a customer tells you not to use a specific liquor, you don't ignore it, guess, or "forget." That's basic service and basic respect. This situation completely threw off my evening, as I had plans afterward and ended up feeling sick. To make matters worse, I reached out to management and received no response. That lack of accountability speaks volumes. At the end of the day, this wasn't just a bad drink--it was careless service. This staff does not prioritize customer care, and that's a problem. If you choose to visit, be very direct, pay close attention, and don't assume your requests will be respected.

Just a warning, the space inside is pretty small--typically there's optional seating outside, but it's really chilly at the moment (although they have heaters)--but there's more seating downstairs in The Victorian Atlanta plant shop. I didn't realize that the two were connected! FYI, if you sit downstairs, you'll be seated next to where the live music performers will be playing, so it will be louder there. As for the drinks, I tried the Zombie. I loved it so much, I ordered a second one instead of trying a different one! It tasted sweet and slightly tropical with the rum and spiced liqueur. It also had some absinthe, which I was worried about when I first ordered it since I hate the taste of it (not a big fan of black licorice flavors), but I didn't taste it at all! Overall, this place had such a great vibe to it!

This year the drinks were blah, the food was mediocre, the vibe was non-existent, and the service was the bare minimal. I have been to other pop-ups this year and would recommend any of them over this include Rreal Taco down the street or Hamp & Harry's or even just picking up the Grinch Happy Meal at McDonald's. Pros: Parking onsite, Reservations (sort of), friendly host (best part of the experience) and server (but absent), nice decorations. Cons: Expensive, boring drinks, overcooked and poorly plated food, not a lively nor festive vibe, poor communication and customer service. Even though this is the only pop-up pre-charging for their event and it was significantly more than a year ago, we liked having a booked time and it was a great experience previously so we booked in early November, but within an hour of booking, we had to adjust the time via OpenTable to a couple hours later. Faster forward to two days before our booking. Confirmations comes in and we notice it is the old time. Called, left messages, send messages through multiple means. Zero response. Called the next day and finally reached the manager who said that the time we wanted wasn't available even though it was the day before so took a later option at 730. Arrive on time but they don't have a table. While waiting they seat us in another area and offer extras since they are late...but they bring chips and salsa 30 mins after 730 when we were supposed to be seat 10-15 mins after we arrive. No waters or anything. Bring complementary margaritas at 810 but only 4 and there are 6 of us. The waitress was dismissive and there was no one else in the bar when we got there. Finally seated at 830 even though they are timed reservations and said they were going to be asking people to wrap within 15 mins of 730. Food was so basic and slapped on the table. Drinks were not festive at all. Ran out of hot chocolate. No festive cups or anything. It was the most mediocre experience I have had. Skip it!
