Went here for a bday dinner. We had a private room to ourselves which was very dimly lit. We had to ask them to turn the lights up because we could barely read the menu. They said it was part of the "aesthetic." The food was actually really amazing and everyone in my party enjoyed. My only complaint is the server barely checked in on us and didn't ask if we needed anything. We had to ask for water about 20-30 minutes after being seated. The service was just about as expected for Atlanta.

I celebrated my birthday here. I was pleasantly surprised that it was quiet and quaint. Our service was lovely and kind. The top of that was offered was tasty though my other friend found her in her food. The cocktails were tasty. It was a nice atmosphere. I'll definitely keep it a minor and come back during happy hour where they have the specials on food and cocktails!

Full disclosure: I was here on a chaotic Saturday afternoon for a pre-wedding brunch where we had the entire place booked out with a curated menu. Despite the logistical challenge of catering to a large, celebratory group, Mistora executed with sophistication. The ambiance is perfect for a neighborhood spot--small-to-medium in size, intimate, well-appointed, with the seating flowing naturally around the central bar. It's the kind of place you feel comfortable dropping into, but where the food delivers a truly elevated experience. I started with the Caramelized Brussels Sprouts. If you're usually indifferent to vegetables, prepare to be converted. They were roasted impeccably--crisp edges, sweet char, coated in a stunning honey and balsamic glaze. The addition of red pepper flakes and grated Parmesan provided a necessary, savory depth. It was, quite simply, an A-tier appetizer. For the main course, I opted for the Braised Bone-In Short Rib. This is where Mistora truly showcases its culinary intent. The ribs were slow-braised in a rich combination of red wine, beef broth, and fresh thyme, resulting in melt-off-the-bone tenderness. Served alongside were garlic-infused purple sweet potatoes and a mix of expertly sautéed carrots, celery, and onions, all finished with a creamy thyme sauce. The flavor profile was deep, comforting, and exactly what I look for in a serious entree. Now, for the one critique: the short rib arrived cold. Considering the restaurant was handling a fully booked, high-volume private event, I attribute this entirely to the necessary slowdowns of service rather than a kitchen error. The staff was visibly doing their best under pressure. I finished every last bite because the quality and flavor were undeniable, even at a suboptimal temperature. This minor hiccup, likely exclusive to a large private booking, is the only reason this isn't a perfect five-star review. The bar looks fully capable, mixing cocktails that were flowing smoothly all afternoon. Mistora is a genuinely exciting addition to the Midtown Atlanta dining scene. They understand flavor, execution, and atmosphere. I'm already planning my next visit on a normal weeknight to see this short rib served piping hot--it deserves it. Go check them out; you won't be disappointed.

The entrance code can be obtained from their website or local hotel concierges. Dial the number on the antique phone and the door magically opens. The staff super friendly and helpful. The bartenders are the best, clearly passionate about their work. I highly encourage you to try one or several of their signature cocktails. I sampled the Left Bank Martini and Vesper. As expected they are fully stocked with Pappy Bourbon, hard to find Amaro Noni. Ask a bartender about the ice block. The place is spacious unlike other speakeasys I've been to. Lots of niche areas with couch reservations, pool table available. No time for a cigar but that is on my list when I return. Food available from their upstairs sister restaurant.

I sat at the bar and had a little light banter with the bartender who is a brother looking to be in his late 30's-early 40's. When I asked about two fruity cocktails from the menu, he flat-out said he wasn't going to make them. That alone was off-putting. Trying to move forward, I asked what he specialized in, and he said he'd "come up with something." I agreed--but very clearly stated: no rum, because my body does not react well to it. After watching him make drinks for people who ordered after me, he eventually handed me a cocktail I never even saw him prepare. That already raised a flag. I took a few sips, and sure enough--my stomach immediately started reacting the exact way it does when I've had rum. When I asked what alcohol he used, he said, "I don't even know." That response alone tells you everything you need to know. At that point, I reminded him I specifically said no rum. Instead of taking accountability, he tried to argue and backtrack. Let me be clear--when a customer tells you not to use a specific liquor, you don't ignore it, guess, or "forget." That's basic service and basic respect. This situation completely threw off my evening, as I had plans afterward and ended up feeling sick. To make matters worse, I reached out to management and received no response. That lack of accountability speaks volumes. At the end of the day, this wasn't just a bad drink--it was careless service. This staff does not prioritize customer care, and that's a problem. If you choose to visit, be very direct, pay close attention, and don't assume your requests will be respected.

They hold a jazz night every Tuesday with live music for a nice chill, yet fun, vibe. Just a warning, the space inside is pretty small--typically there's optional seating outside, but it's really chilly at the moment (although they have heaters)--but there's more seating downstairs in The Victorian Atlanta plant shop. I didn't realize that the two were connected! FYI, if you sit downstairs, you'll be seated next to where the live music performers will be playing, so it will be louder there. As for the drinks, I tried the Zombie. I loved it so much, I ordered a second one instead of trying a different one! It tasted sweet and slightly tropical with the rum and spiced liqueur. It also had some absinthe, which I was worried about when I first ordered it since I hate the taste of it (not a big fan of black licorice flavors), but I didn't taste it at all! Overall, this place had such a great vibe to it!

This year the drinks were blah, the food was mediocre, the vibe was non-existent, and the service was the bare minimal. I have been to other pop-ups this year and would recommend any of them over this include Rreal Taco down the street or Hamp & Harry's or even just picking up the Grinch Happy Meal at McDonald's. Pros: Parking onsite, Reservations (sort of), friendly host (best part of the experience) and server (but absent), nice decorations. Cons: Expensive, boring drinks, overcooked and poorly plated food, not a lively nor festive vibe, poor communication and customer service. Even though this is the only pop-up pre-charging for their event and it was significantly more than a year ago, we liked having a booked time and it was a great experience previously so we booked in early November, but within an hour of booking, we had to adjust the time via OpenTable to a couple hours later. Faster forward to two days before our booking. Confirmations comes in and we notice it is the old time. Called, left messages, send messages through multiple means. Zero response. Called the next day and finally reached the manager who said that the time we wanted wasn't available even though it was the day before so took a later option at 730. Arrive on time but they don't have a table. While waiting they seat us in another area and offer extras since they are late...but they bring chips and salsa 30 mins after 730 when we were supposed to be seat 10-15 mins after we arrive. No waters or anything. Bring complementary margaritas at 810 but only 4 and there are 6 of us. The waitress was dismissive and there was no one else in the bar when we got there. Finally seated at 830 even though they are timed reservations and said they were going to be asking people to wrap within 15 mins of 730. Food was so basic and slapped on the table. Drinks were not festive at all. Ran out of hot chocolate. No festive cups or anything. It was the most mediocre experience I have had. Skip it!
