We went here to celebrate Valentine's Day as I saw online, the place looked amazing. Location: was very easy to find however, there are 2 restaurant / lounges in 1 so they share a parking lot. Parking is $20 and $21 if you have to use a card. Definitely a turn off BUT the staff were nice. Once inside: greeter was amazing! Actually, all the staff were really nice. This restaurant is absolutely stunning!! The decor and ambiance is everything and has very nice spaces and comfortable seating. We sat on the restaurant side but there is a lounge side with dj and hookah which I loved they had separate spaces for this. The service was great from the hostess to our server and the management team. We ate mostly light here due to a large lunch and most of us got appetizers. I wanted to love the oxtail empanadas but the corn bread crust honestly killed the dish for me as the oxtail inside was great and the jelly it comes with is tasty. This was my second visit to Unknown and I'm not sure if I will be back. I wasn't particularly impressed with the food during my first visit but tried it again as some friends wanted to visit. First I will say that the decor is beautiful. It is well decorated and has a sexy vibe. Everyone was very nice. From the valet to the servers, I had no complaints about service. The taste and quality of the food did not match the standard set by the rest of the experience. I ordered the fettuccini with salmon and it wasn't very flavorful and didn't offer a creole "kick". My friends ordered the braised ribs and while they said it was good in the moment, they complained about stomach aches the next day. Wow! Where do I begin? The service has been so disappointing that I'm writing this review while still sitting in the restaurant. Our food was brought out incredibly inconsistently. Half of our table received their entrées, while the other half waited nearly an hour and a half for theirs to arrive. By the time the remaining meals came out, those who had already been served were finished eating. The waitstaff seemed extremely overextended. Despite our party having two servers, we only saw them about once every 40 minutes. We even waited over an hour just to receive a Coke. This establishment clearly lacks efficient systems, communication, and accountability. It gives off a dark but sultry vibe with the colors, wall art and lighting. It's a perfect place for a date night and of course girls night. There were 14 of us, split between 2 booths. Might seem odd splitting a party like this, but because of the layout it wasn't bad. I enjoyed my food and drinks. I had the short rib lasagna and the deviled eggs for my app. I've had better deviled eggs in my opinion and 3 half pieces certainly wasn't worth $18. I opted to have them without the caviar (I'm not a fan, don't judge me). Likely that's the reason for the price. Most of the party enjoyed their food, I think there were a few who wasn't super impressed. Also didn't like that there was no tap water option, only $10 liter bottles. The service was great. Our waiter was attentive to us and extremely patient. The live music was super nice, the saxophonist serenaded my friend with a song! The experience at Unknown for my birthday dinner was a let down, especially after booking their $75 prix fixe menu. Now, let's talk about the champagne situation. We were ready to raise our glasses and celebrate, but when it was time for the toast, they could only find four glasses for our group of eight! It took nearly 20 minutes for them to track down more flutes, and when they finally did, they didn't even match the original ones. Then, we waited an hour for appetizers to come out. And the complimentary champagne they had advertised? That never made an appearance. And where was the live band they promised? We chose this place specifically because the manager confirmed there would be a band playing on NYE. They played music from the speakers until the DJ arrived at 10pm. Our dinner was scheduled from 7:30-9:30pm. The main courses made a grand entrance at 10pm--past the scheduled dinner end time! I was grateful that our table was served at all especially since some tables around us were getting refunds and leaving without a single bite. To top it all off, when I tried to bring these issues to the attention of the manager, May, I was met with a lack of customer service. She seemed disinterested in resolving the issues and was nowhere to be found when we needed her help. This is a new location in Atlanta that's trending. I was excited to go to celebrate my friend's birthday (he's not a cheap date he reminded me)! The location is tucked away on Cheshire Bridge Road (upper Midtown/Buckhead) which is a transitioning neighborhood. It's been a questionable area for years but this place delivers once inside. The decor, seating and lighting was outstanding. They designed the place to accommodate entertainment that's able to view from any table and the built-in speaker system. There's a band that plays from 6-9 PM with a saxophonist that walks around. They were great but it's pretty loud and hard to talk over it. That was a huge downside. Our server was really personable and helped us get familiar with the menu. It changes seasonally but best sellers usually remain. We ordered appetizers, dinner, cocktails and a received a free dessert for the birthday boy. The tab was over $400 for 3 people which included a $15 entertainment fee. Is that $5 per person? Valet is $10 to park (add $1 for tap or cards). ‍ Overall, the experience was very nice. Service was decent considering it was very busy on a Friday evening. Horrible Experience ! This was my second time coming and both visits were disappointing. The service was aweful! I came for a Birthday Dinner with a friend (8 party reservation) . The valet was $5 which is very reasonable. I was the last person to arrive. As soon I sat that down. It took about 15mins for the waitress to come back to the table and get my drink order. All drinks came at the same time. I ordered an old fashion. It had no cherry, no garnish. It was just ice and cherry syrupy bourbon. We were all ready to order. When she dropped the drinks off. (Which I informed her, since we had a party of 8) so we can go ahead and get food in by the time where done talking/ socializing etc. She said she would be back. 15-20 Minutes later she came to take the order! I ordered the royal Griot lamb. It was chewy and seemed to be cooked Well Done. We had a table of 8 and I saw 1 bottled water on the second side of the table. 1 bottled water for 8 people is wild! I asked for regular water. She stated they only have bottled. My other friend ask for just tap water from the faucet. She brought 1 cup. He immediately said he was thirsty and would need a bigger cup. She brought out a small plastic bottled water. Most other restaurants have a standard to keep water glasses filled at all times! Water should not be an issue to a restaurant of this caliber. I had to flag to the waitress down again to get our checks. She said she would be back (15mins later ...) It was only 6 other tables the entire time we sat there! So it wasn't busy. The gentlemen that brought our food and the guy who grabbed our empty plates were extremely nice and professional. We asked for another round of drinks. We couldn't find the waitress. We didn't know her name because she never told us. She had braces. We asked to speak to the manager at this point. They do not take discover cards. I could understand that. It would be nice to know that BEFORE I start ordering food and drinks. There's no card tap machine option to offset the discover card issue. (I didn't have any other physical cards on me) so I had to Apple Pay someone at the table to pay for my meal. We are really reasonable people at restaurants, because we understand there are different variables but the BASIC THINGS. Water , stating your name, checking on your table, putting in the order fast because a large party will take time ( especially if they all are ready!) , fixing the issue with a comp and never even getting the comp shots, and taking our checks so we can leave promptly are things that are easily manageable. We were a large party of 14. We booked under two parties of 7 to try and help with the "paying situation" at the end of the night. Atmosphere is beautiful. Restaurant is gorgeous on the inside. Drinks were sub par. Tasted more like sour mix and or juice versus any liquor in the drinks. Some people within our party didn't like their drinks but the manager wouldn't let them be returned or replaced at first but he eventually let someone swap their drink for a shot since he wouldn't let her take it off the tab. Food was decent in flavor but cold. Would've been better if it was hot and not room temperature like it had been sitting out. A few items that were ordered were not liked and the manager said you can't send back any food, exchange it or take it off your check. The manager told us NO. Mind you no where on the menu or website does it say you can't send back food nor beverage items so the lack of care or respect for the customers experience is beyond me. When it came to paying everyone in my group of 7 sent me their money. But then i realized I didn't have my card so I asked could I use tap. He responded they don't have tap but earlier in the night he told us they take tap, card or cash. So what's the difference in paying for $100 or more on tap? Then the manager Moe proceeds to belittle the situation and ask does no one else have a bank account? But if I send the money to somebody else it would be another fee to send the money. My friend had a family and friends gathering on Sunday. It was about 15-20 of us. Of all the restaurants in Atlanta with a large party on Sunday it was frustrating. First, a 40-50 minute wait for a single drink, especially when the restaurant wasn't busy, is definitely unacceptable. I think we were mainly the only ones in there at that time. Secondly, the food was, at best, mediocre. It is to be expected that if you have a bad experience that you will share that experience with others in an attempt to spare them the same horrid experience. Visiting this restaurant over the weekend was exactly that a horror. Reservations were made in advance through the OpenTable app. This restaurant does offer valet for $10, however the valet person helped himself to an additional dollar making the valet total $11. The overall ambience of the restaurant is very swanky jazz vibes. The live band was just beginning to start for the night when I arrive at my 7 PM reservation. The hostess sat myself and 1 guest at the most undesirable table available inside of the building. The bar doesn't have any bourbon that is a great disappointment. The second conflict with cocktails is that their most expensive appetizer $85 named a Taste of the Unknown is also the exact same name for their house cocktail. The cocktail consist of Syrup and purées and a splash of tequila. Upon ordering the cocktail, the waitress misinterpreted the request and brought the $85 appetizer to the table. Once that matter was cleared up, entrées were ordered and the night continued. The band was amazing other guests looked to be enjoying themselves. The food I ordered was the sea bass with crispy okra and potatoes. The portion size of the fish was the same size of a deck of playing cards. The crispy okra consisted of one okra pod, sliced into strips, not fried not crispy but more or less a garnish. What made this experience so absolutely awful was the unnecessarily long wait to retrieve my vehicle from valet. Three men were working the valet. The ultimate insult and disrespect was to not only have the overwhelmingly putrid smell of marijuana in my vehicle but also to have no gas in my car. I informed security of this he asked my name and reservation time. I gave him those details I have yet to hear from the restaurant about this matter and for that reason alone, I could never go back.
