On a Friday evening, we settled in at the bar after checking in at The Tess. The DJ was active and there were a few parties, groups and couples enjoying dinner. The bartenders were busy but took the time to share what's good on the menu. They shared that management had recently changed the pairings for the season so he hadn't tasted everything. We ended up getting two starters and shared an entree. The oysters were standouts for sure. Sitting on a bed of salt, topped with pickled cucumbers - it was delicious. Then the lamb tacos - just wow. The meat was tender, seasoned to perfection and very tasty. Lastly, the roasted chicken and seasonal veggies were flavorful and juicy. We paired it with a Pinot Grigio instead of cocktails. The patio was a little chilly to dine alfresco but the fire pits were lit and the view is spectacular. There weren't many people there so it felt very intimate. Definitely a great stop on a date night to start the evening and drop into other spots. The next day we enjoyed breakfast. It was in the lobby restaurant - Dirty Rascal. It was better than typical hotel food. Actually it was pretty amazing. The Crème Brûlée French Toast and 2 Eggs Your Way breakfast were truly yummy. The wait was another matter because they were short staffed due to Governor's candidacy event upstairs at the Tessarae. We weren't happy about that but the food was worth the wait. Definitely add this to your list to stay in Buckhead at the hotel, just go for a meal or drinks on the rooftop. read more

Bar, tables, couches, bamboo chairs, fireplaces, games, awesome views of the city. Great place to take some pictures. I recommend making a reservation online through Open Table. I had a salad with chicken breast. Delicious. Also tried Brisket appetizer which was really good. Long Island drink was great! Shots of Blanco - Lemon drops ‼‼ The waitress was nice but it was very busy so I cut her some slack on her attentiveness. There were so many birthday celebrations being held so I understood. Very classy Rooftop so dress accordingly but you can still be casual and fine. The views are absolutely gorgeous of the city. Top notch. They have a DJ, no hip hop or rap being played but nice music. Food horrible, service much to be desired. Made reservations for 4:15pm on a Tuesday. The Tesseare restaurant atop the Tess hotel is huge, yet we, and one other guest of the hotel were they only patrons. I arrived at 3:50pm, no one was at the entry to seat me for a while so I went in to seat myself. Shortly after, a guy came and handed me a dirty menu. The menus are paper and full of stains. They need to revert to QR code only, or print out the menus on a sheet or paper and laminate them if they are too lazy to request new menus from corporate. Our server changed because at 5pm they have a shift change. Due to this, we waited 45mins for salads. Salads! I would rather they close for an hour like other restaurants to get it together, then reopen because this was horrible. So bad the chef came out to apologize for the chicken on the salad being hard, dry, and cold. There's a lot going on about fake chicken and fake poultry, but this actually tastes fake and rubbery. They remade it, it was just warm and rubbery, no flavor, dry. The server kept forgetting items we requested, it was all too much for no reason. The biscuits were the only thing we enjoyed that was fresh and hot, but we had to ask twice because she forgot about them. The Tess hotel itself was lovely, the rooftop view, beautiful. The vibes, there. They need to work on the service and the food. I don't need excuses as to why the food is trash and the service is lacking, just fix it and move on. Went to Tesserae on a Sunday evening after brunch and just stopped in for drinks. It was a gorgeous day out, perfect rooftop weather, so we sat outside and the views were amazing. The whole vibe was super chill and relaxed, and it wasn't very busy, which made it even better. We really enjoyed our drinks and just being able to sit back and take in the scenery. It's definitely a great spot to unwind, catch up, and enjoy nice weather. I'd definitely come back again and would love to try the food next time! read more

My friends and I made plans to celebrate one of their birthdays at a rooftop bar. Reservations were made in advance which did require a credit card. We got seated right away and found that they were about half full on a Friday night. We had a beautiful view of the skyline and the sun set. Having to had eaten before, only a few of us got entrées that included the Sirloin steak and shrimp scampi. Steak was tender, and the shrimp scampi had a beautiful garlic flavor to it. We enjoyed our drinks as well as as the view. Overall, we had a great time. If only the other fire pit was working as it was a particularly cold and windy night. This space is beautiful and such a vibe. We lucked up as a group of six and were able to get a seating in the couch area by the hostess stand. We were seated around 10:05 PM and continually told a waiter would be by to take our food and drink orders. They arrived around 1015 and I ordered the love language cocktail, which had tequila, and the jerk oxtail primavera. The pasta was very delicious, could have used a smidge more oxtail but was flavored and seasoned beautifully. Our food came before our drinks due to the bar being backed up. This place used to be called the Thompson, and now it's called the Tess or Tesserae. Lots of people valet but I like parking right behind it -- there's free street parking. I love a good cocktail and Tess delivers every time. Service is exceptional and if you don't like something then the bartenders will fix you up another drink in no time. Lastly, I've had a few things from their food menu but their cheeseburger and fries is my favorite thing here!!! Think of a Big Mac but more elevated and elegant? My best friend and I came here after an anniversary gala (arriving around 10:30pm on a Friday night). We knew we wanted to go somewhere where we wouldn't feel out of place being dressed in long dresses. On the 10th floor of this beautiful hotel, we were greeted by a friendly host who sat us down near the patio so we had a view of buckhead and was near the DJ. I ordered a mezcal cocktail that on the menu, and my friend got the French 75 rendition. We really enjoyed our cocktails. Mine interestingly was served in a floral mug that we felt didn't really match the vibe of the bar, but it was good nonetheless. Since it was Dry January for me, I can't speak to the cocktails, but just a heads-up: the mocktails are priced about the same as cocktails. Food-wise, my friend had the rainbow trout, and it was delicious. I went for the "shareable" crab cake and the sesame milk buns with honey butter. FYI--the crab cake is not shareable, but it was worth it. As for the buns, they were soft and delightful, though I think a salted butter would have hit better than the honey butter. Still, everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The jazz? Pure vibes. A beautiful, grown crowd soaking up soothing yet lively tunes. The musicians did their thing, playing familiar favorites. I did not get anything to eat however, I tried a zero proof cocktail the Berry Moon, I personally didn't like it I expected it to be sweet and fruity but it tasted like a V8. Visited Tesserae recently and the experience was mixed. The atmosphere and views are nice, but the service was slower than expected. We waited about 45 minutes before being served, which took away from the overall experience. The food was decent--about a 3-star rating in my opinion. It's moderately priced for Buckhead, but nothing particularly memorable. The biggest issue was valet. We requested our car at 11:20 PM and didn't receive it until 12:35 AM, even though the system said it would be ready in about 10 minutes. Thankfully they refunded the valet fee, but I would strongly recommend reconsidering valet if you visit. Nice location and vibe, but service improvements would make a big difference. read more

Great View, Friendly Staff, But Service Timing Needs Work We made a same-day reservation at Tesserae to celebrate a birthday and noted it in our booking. When we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and acknowledged the occasion, which was a lovely touch. I had also requested a spot to enjoy the sunset, but there was a private event in that section. It would've been nice to get a heads-up by email or phone beforehand, but thankfully we were still able to enjoy the view from the open patio -- no big deal. Our server, Erine, was delightful and engaging at the start. We ordered drinks from their specialty cocktail menu and deviled eggs to start. The drinks were fantastic -- so much so that we ordered another round to try more of their creations. We also placed orders for Caesar salads, expecting the appetizer and salads to come out while we enjoyed our second drinks. Unfortunately, things started to unravel from there. The second round of drinks never arrived, and neither did the deviled eggs or salads. Despite the restaurant not being very busy (maybe 20-25 people total), there were long gaps in service. Our entrées arrived before any of the earlier courses, and the food runner didn't seem to notice or ask about it. Erine later returned, apologizing for a "kitchen mix-up," and said management would like to serve the missed items on the house. We declined the salads but accepted the deviled eggs -- which, when they finally arrived, were worth the wait. We also ordered wine with our entrées, but again, there was a significant delay; the wine didn't come until we were halfway through our meal. Near the end of dinner, a food runner surprised us with a complimentary dessert and candle for the birthday -- a kind gesture, though again the timing felt off. One of the managers stopped by to apologize for the service timing and even offered to pack the missed salads to go, which we appreciated but politely declined. The restaurant had a live jazz band that evening, and although they were originally supposed to set up near our table, the host thoughtfully moved them elsewhere and let us know. We appreciated the consideration, though it wouldn't have bothered us to have them close by. When we finished dinner, we hoped to order another round of cocktails, but it was hard to get our server's attention. Servers should make more consistent table checks -- especially since a 20% service charge is automatically added regardless of party size. After dinner, I wanted to look up the names of our dishes to include in this review, but the restaurant's website was outdated and missing menu details -- another small but important detail that could enhance the overall experience. Despite the bumps, our entrées were delicious, the view of downtown Buckhead's sunset and full moon was spectacular, and every staff member we interacted with was friendly, engaging, and thoughtful. The biggest issues were timing and attentiveness -- both fixable things that would easily elevate the experience from good to outstanding. We'll definitely be back, hoping for smoother service next time because the food, ambiance, and people all have great potential. read more

Nice restaurant above the Thompson hotel with great skyline views inside & outside. Food was good, for the price of the Lobster dish it could have been more flavored. My husband enjoyed his steak. We ate around 7:30pm which was great timing to take daylight pictures outside before it got crowded then after dinner we lounged outside & was able to take more pictures without a huge crowd. We got up and walked out after sitting nearly 30min no server ever came to our table. They heard great things about this place on Tik Tok and also had great views, so we decided to book a reservation. The Parking: They have a valet service & there is also free parking on the street across the way. The Service: The service was pretty good. It took our service a good while to come out, but once they came, she continued to check up on us. The Atmosphere: Beautiful place! When you go there, you have to eat outside if it's warm. It is so beautiful outside. The Food: I ordered the Old Bay Crinkle Cut Fries ($9) and the Smoked Wings ($18). Both were REALLY delicious! The perfect combination! Overall, definitely check them out. The waitress was very matter of fact and stated she could not accommodate spitting the checks for 4 more people. Why was this not indicated when the area was reserved. We each had to order our drinks at the bar but the bar couldn't place food orders. Everyone was starving by mid evening so we all went somewhere else to eat. NOTE to the restaurant, purchase POS terminals so you can accommodate your patrons. You missed out on a lot of money because of this, as about 25 of us planned to eat there but wanted to pay for our food separately since we didn't all know each other. This is our second stay at the Thompson. And we chose this property over other hyatt properties because of Tesserae! The ambience is modern and well decorated. We had brunch two days in a row and enjoyed the window seating the first day, but the booth across from the bar was way more cozy and quiet and we really enjoyed it. The food did not disappoint as expected. The butternut squash soup with burrata was still as tasty as ever and the green goddess salad also had the perfect freshness with its tangy and herby flavor bomb dressing. We had the banana bread elvis toast which was decadent and with perfect sweetness, texture, and warmness. They didnt have any plant based substitutes for my husband's cheese burger, but the server graciously suggested and asked the kitchen for mushrooms to be added and it definitely upgraded the burger experience for this vegetarian . Of course i loved the yogurt parfait. Compliments to the chef!! What topped off our great foodie experience was the staff! Luis, our server who we had both days was so friendly, warm, and kind always with a smile even when we asked for a replacement for a dish which we thought had meat in it accidentally which ended up not being meat. He was patient and went above and beyond to make our experience pleasant. We also enjoyed meeting Ledy in the elevator while he was bringing the veggies in from the grocery. My friends and I chose this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon (3/29/26). We were originally going to Capital Grille but decided on this place because of the views and ambience. The worst mistake I could have ever made. We arrived around 5:00 PM, there was no host at the counter. We proceeded to walk in and was not greeted by anyone not even the bartender. There were maybe 2 tables seated and about 4 people at the bar, very light day. I approached the bar and asked if they were serving food, she nodded her head yes, no verbal communication. My next question, should we seat ourselves, she nodded yes again. That should have been a red flag for how the rest of our evening was about to go. We sat ourselves and was never greeted by anyone for about 30 minutes. There was one server walking around (which I found out later was the manager) that I approached and asked if he was waiting our table. His response was, " I will be with you all in a moment, my server is due to be here at 6pm but I will go ahead and take care of you all). Every other table was being waited on by this manager but it seemed an inconvenience when I asked who was waiting our table. We recieved our appetizers and drinks and that was the last time we saw our waiter. The entre took about another half hour to come out and was served by I believe kitchen staff. By this time the 6pm server has arrived, however no one waited our table for the rest of the evening. After noticing that we hadn't been waited on for about an hour by our original server, I approached the 6pm server who is now waiting every other table but ours and asked what happened to our server. She shrugged her shoulders and said she wasn't sure and she thought the bartender was serving us. She went to the bartender to confirm but no one came back to our table to tell us anything. 30 more minutes pass and now I'm walking up to the bar to ask what is going on. The bartender replied that she wasn't sure but if we were ready to close out she'd help us. She brought the check to the table and that was it. We Waited again for payment to be collected but once again no one came to the table. At this point I was tempted to walk out and leave the check unpaid since to them we weren't there anyways. I did the right thing and walked back to the bar with the check and payment method and me and my friends stood at the bar until she closed us out. What started as a quick bite to eat turned into a 4 hour waste of time. I will NEVER return to this restaurant, use this hotel or attend any events going forward. The restaurant itself is very trendy and the rooftop is nice. DJ played music at a decibel where you could still have a conversation. Had a couple of appetizers and was not satisfied, particularly the hot crab dip was served with stale house made chips and needed a baguette.
