This was the first day they put this new menu out. I'll be honest we weren't really fans of the food. The shrimp and grits had a full layer of a sharp cheese on top, which was just way too much we all thought. I love me some cheese in my grits too but that was just overkill because it's also cheese throughout the grits. Also the ribeye? Both my friend and I didn't like ours and we love us a ribeye. It didn't even taste like a ribeye, more like top sirloin or NY strip. The Juice? Yuck. I make my juices at home and no additives and it still doesn't taste nasty like this one lol Shrimp & Grits (it's the cheese, remove some and we have a deal, I enjoyed the shrimp and I hate shrimp) Ribeye? Heck, upon walking through the hotel entrance, there was a (very talented) harpist going to town on a beautiful harp....and the euphonious music could be heard through the dining room. Our server was excellent. She walked us through the options and explained that Brassica has a Haitian chef with his own unique style. We simply had brunch and enjoyed the egg white wellness omelette. Quite tasty (albeit a bit expensive at $26). It did come with a small, delectable rectangular hash brown to boot. We also got the crab cake benedict. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. Attended the Christmas Day five-course tasting menu, cost $175 per person (paid upfront during the reservation). It was a complete disappointment from start to finish. First, our reservation was for 7:00 PM. We arrived promptly at 6:55, only to be told by the front desk hostess lady--who didn't even bother to greet us--that our table wasn't ready. We ended up WAITING 32 MINUTES past our reservation time with no explanation or apology offered. What is the point of making a reservation if it isn't honored? Having dined at many upscale restaurants in Atlanta, I have never experienced such poor service. When we inquired about the delay, a staff member simply stated they were "preparing the tables," with no acknowledgment of the inconvenience. Once seated, the poor service continued. A server lady in red silently brought the first dish, Truffle Potato Pavé, without any explanation or even basic introduction. Just silently placed in front of us and left. It felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. As for the food, the portions were shockingly SMALL and the flavors UNDERWHELMING. Truffle Potato Pavé was bland, Smoked Swordfish was bland and flavorless, and the Wagyu was mediocre. Both the fish and the Wagyu were served cold. The only enjoyable element was the duck in the Duck Salad, but even that dish was flawed--the greens in the salad were not fresh. And the portion size was still far too small to feel satisfying. For a total of five dishes, the $175-per-person price tag was outrageous considering the poor quality of both the food and the service. We left the restaurant hungry, frustrated, and disappointed. This experience was NOT worth the price, the time, or the frustration. CANNOT recommend this restaurant. read more

Brassica is the brasserie-inspired flagship restaurant inside of Waldorf Astoria with a southern twist and a focus on local, seasonal ingredients. I chose to celebrate my birthday with 10 friends over High Tea. High Tea is served at the Brassica every Saturday and Sunday at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. I had a lovely pre-tea beverage at the bar. The Bavaria was created at the bar and is a rum-forward beverage with homemade banana-coconut syrup that immediately places you on a beach in Puerto Rico. My party had the Buckhead tea, which consists of a tea selection, tea sandwiches, petite sweets, a scone, and a glass of sparkling wine or cider. The price point of the tea sets vary based on beverage upgrades, with the top tier adding caviar service. We loved the long dramatic table in the Solarium with the harpist playing throughout our tea. They are in the process of finishing renovations to the Solarium. The room currently is a bit stark and lacks the fancy of a tea room. High Tea is one of those things you should experience at least once in your life, as it is quite the vibe. We loved the long dramatic table with the harpist playing throughout our tea. My family and I went to the Waldorf Astoria for a birthday dinner and she was our experience! We came in the evening and got sat down at a large table because we had a large party! Lighting and the music was playing in the background from the lobby or the bar I'm assuming, but it wasn't distracting. Let's just get down to the food. This is the kind of restaurant, where the entrées at the dishes are described very well on the menu, but they don't deliver in person. The seasoning was lacking, the presentation was OK, but the texture was not there. When I order trout and you and it arrives with skin on it, I'm expecting that skin to be crispy. It was not. The vegetables underneath didn't have a texture of their own. It kind of presented as a succotash, and I just don't think that was the right pairing for this fish, especially if it didn't have any crisp on it. The grouper was OK. Again no texture. Just quite mushy, and honestly boring to the palate. I wouldn't recommend that dish. We ordered the escargot and our waitress did let us know that it doesn't come out pretty, and it's not what you would expect. Traditionally when you order escargot, it comes in the shell they give you the proper paired fork for you to retrieve the escargot out of the shell, and it comes with a bit of broth, and Bread on the side for you to dip. It was the show, which was strange. And it was put onto the toast but it's dry? Very weird. And the steak honestly came at the right temperature, it was made in a cast-iron pan, so there was a bit of crisp on it, but then the menu stated that they were duck fat fries. When I read duck fat fries, I'm expecting fries, made in duck, fat, flavorful, salt on there and pepper. That was not what we received. Our waitress us know that Duckfat referred to the thickness of the fry. The way to the fry was cut... I've never heard that before in my life maybe I just am not familiar with it but I just feel like they could have simply said they were thick cut fries because that's what they were. I ordered shuffle fries instead and she let me know that there was Parmesan on the top of those fries, as is customary. The meal took so long to come out, most of the food was not warm, and added to the fact that there was no Parmesan on the fries. Our waitress let us know that the kitchen told her this at the last minute when the food was ready. Again, not quite sure why they set her up that way, and also if that was the case, she should have presents or the food and let me know that there was no Parmesan available and offered a substitute. All in all I get this experience a two out of 10 simply because our waitress did her best but honestly, the kitchen set her up for failure. I think they definitely need to take a second and taste their menu and improve. read more

Food was outstanding. We had the sauteed frogs legs and the corn bisque. Our waitress let us know that the corn bisque was the most popular starter on the menu, and while the frogs legs were good, I wish I had ordered a second corn bisque. Make sure you try it. Rather than get our own entrees we decided to have one of the shared plates and ordered the rack of venison. The venison was out of this world - prepared perfectly and not the slightest hint of gaminess that people sometimes expect from venison. And it was a ton of food for two people. From looking at the couple next to us, the shared plates do seem to be the way to go, because their ribeye looked ginormous. The cocktail options were also quite good as well. I recommend having a Roman Punch if you like rum-punch-type drinks. Just like I wish I'd ordered the corn bisque, my wife wish she'd ordered the Roman Punch. Brassica is on the pricey side for some, but they do give you a lot of food for your money. I'd say you definitely can't go wrong taking someone there for a special occasion. read more

Chicken breast/butternut squash ravioli dish is a no-go. Imagine dry chicken perched atop ravioli, generously covered with crunchy large croutons and cashew nuts. The dry chicken coupled with the large, dry croutons is at the very least an interesting and memorable pairing but not good. Also avoid the hummingbird cake. So dry that you have to use force to get a spoon through. And the cream cheese frosting is very artificial with no cream cheese flavor at all. Sad. Marble and brass extend out from the warm wood bar, dotted with happy hour patrons enjoying fancy drinks and small bites. To the side the dining room is packed with warm leather booths juxtaposed to the orange and blue ornate plates and the slats in the wall that peer into the hall next to the restaurant. On the back end, the décor changes to a modern black with white tables and dark napkins. This beautiful spot is Brassica, the opulent French-Inspired Southern fare restaurant nestled in the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria Buckhead. They put just the right spin on traditional French and southern dishes, while offering upscale cocktails and an extensive wine list. Brassica does everything well, including their cocktail and wine offerings. For the cocktails we tried the fancy James Bond inspired Vesper. Shaken not stirred, botanical gin, vodka, and the right amount of lemon make for a boozy, strong, floral, smooth cocktail where the flavor profile changes as you drink. If boozy isn't want you're looking for, go for the Roman Punch, it's like drinking tea on the porch! Lemony, tangy, and sweet, it's smooth as you can get. That might be dangerous. Plus, they have a great wine list that pairs with the great French-inspired southern menu. We tried the Licia Albarino from Spain and a Cabernet that were both delicious and went so well with the dishes we got, the Trout, and the Roasted Rack of Venison. For starters, you can never go wrong with a solid Beef Carpaccio, tender and savory with tangy olives, earthy capers, and the sharpness of the cheese and tangy onion. A great bite when you roll it all up into one. We paired that with something we don't see every day on menus, frog legs! The Sauteed Frog Legs are deconstructed and taken off the bone, and surround a crunchy, buttery toast with roasted garlic on top. Then underneath a fantastic creamy, earthy parsley cream adds the right amount of balance to the tender frog, buttery, crunchy toast, and sharpness of the garlic. This mix and match dish is a keeper. Of the sides, we are in love with the Butternut Squash Jambalaya. This one is an experience all on its own, served in a smoked dome and the smoke released at the table. The smokiness is prevalent in the dish and pairs with the lightly spicy Cajun spices and creamy rice then contrasts the hearty and earthy butternut squash. Beyond that we had to opt for the Mac N Cheese that is served in a pot. It is creamy brie and tender macaroni all topped with a layer of sharp cheese. The chef surprised us with a pair of Little Gem salads that is one part crunchy with pecans and apples and one part earthy of the greens. The best part is the buttery, tangy brown butter vinaigrette. It goes so well with the overall flavor profile of the salad. This is so good you may want to lick the plate. Another fun surprise we can talk about here is the cornbread that comes before the meal. It's thick, dense, sweet, and savory bread that's topped with a beautiful, warm brown butter sauce that give off hints of caramel. It's some of the best cornbread you can get in Atlanta. It almost is like a dessert! We can't stop thinking about this stunning Roasted Rack of Venison shared plate. Have you seen venison presented so perfectly? It is tender and savory with a balanced amount of seasoning. On top boozy, sweet, and tart marinated cherries marry with the meat for an explosion of flavor, then underneath creamy and smooth mashed potatoes and savory, earthy Brussels pair with a savory, meaty sauce that just knocks the flavors out of the park. This is the best Venison we've EVER had! Go try it! The other main that we got is the Pecan Rainbow Trout. It is tender and flaky fish with a light crunch of the fish skin on the top. The pecans dotted on top roll into the creamy corn and sauce below for a warm, crunchy, overall great bite that is popping with flavor. This is a light dish that goes so well with the heftiness of the Venison. To finish out our meal, we had to try the Oven Roasted Georgia Apple. It's a whole cooked apple, skin on, that's stuffed with sweet apricots, topped with a sweet, caramel sauce, spicy cinnamon, and paired with a cool dollop of ice cream. The uniqueness of the crunchy apple skin, sweetness of the apricots and creaminess of the sauce and ice cream make for the perfect pair. This was epic. read more

For $125 it should be smooth like butter. Instead it was hard, flavorless, chewy and seemed more like roast. Brussel sprouts were just ok and burnt. This is my second time dining at this location and first time was nothing to write home about. Nothing was comped or provided to us for the huge inconvenience. Bill came out to $400 and left hungry.
