3.5 stars actually. I have been to this restaurant twice. The first time was for Christmas Eve dinner, the second time was last week -- to try their Buckhead Restaurant Week brunch set. This restaurant features Mediterranean-Spanish fusion tapas and a few large plates; some are also American inspired. I could not remember clearly what we ordered during my first visit. We definitely ordered the chicken and it was too salty. Service was a bit slow even if the restaurant was nearly empty that night. For the brunch, my friend got the Cinnamon Roll and Prawns & Polenta on the $25 set menu, while I tried their labneh and Local Roots Salad. The Cinnamon Roll was too soggy. The other dish my friend had was similar to "shrimp and grits". It came with seven large, fresh prawns; full of umami. However, the polenta was disappointing as it was too salty, not hot enough and contained chunks of cornmeal. My labneh was very interesting; there were lots of different herbs and spices, and it tasted rich and spicy. It was served with lots of vegetable crudités (radish, sweet peppers, cucumber slices). Finally, the Local Roots Salad actually had not root vegetables; it had better be called Local Greens Salad lol. The olive crumbs were interesting though. The ambiance is amazing here. We sat on outside on a lovely evening. The service was ok, not great, not bad. At times it felt like it took a bit long for our waitress to check on us. I really do love they have a zero proof alcohol list. The Lyre's prosecco was amazing. The GA local lettuce salad is phenomenal but the grilled mushroom skewers were not great at all. They were a little tough and lacked flavor. A friend of mine got the ribeye dish and it was excellent. The flavor profiles were just perfect. If you like food from the Mediterranean, Turkish, Spain / Basque, etc., this is the right spot for you. Aside from the food, atmosphere is top notch. Came for happy hour with a friend. We shared two flat breads: the lamb one and the serano ham one. Both were super good! The lamb flatbread was seasoned perfectly and great for sharing but the serano ham had a great touch of both salty and sweet which I loved. Of course, we had to get the patatas bravas which was delicious. Dry January is in full effect so I got the beetlejuice mocktail. Don't let the beets scare you away! First timer! I was invited to join a group of new friends to bring in the New Year. Let's say I am so happy that I did. Gypsy Kitchen is located in The Buckhead Village (district) conveniently located in the square of other restaurants and shopping centers. I arrived an hour or so early intentionally so I could walk around and check out the retail stores. The vibe in the area is very chic and sophisticated--high-end stores on every corner. After taking a stroll around I walked up to the second floor where Gypsy Kitchen is located. You can take the stairs or the elevator. I needed the exercise so I took the stairs . As I got to the floor I noticed the outdoor seating. 3 or 4 outdoor heaters were set up. No one was sitting outside possibly due to the weather, which was a little chilly 50 degrees. I snapped a couple of pictures and walked inside. I was greeted and asked if I was with a party. I stated I was with a party of possibly 9 or 10 not sure bc I was not the organizer. She checked the reservation and advised that the organizer was to arrive around 6:45. So she offered seating at the bar since that's where our party would be sitting. I was greeted by the Bartender and I apologize for not getting his name but very friendly attentive guy. There were maybe 6 other customers there. He offered a drink and I accepted water. I was later moved to a table to wait for my party. The bartender brought me the menu to glance at while I waited. I was so hungry that I placed an order for the Garlic Shrimp. You get 5 large grilled shrimp with 4 slices of fresh pita bread. The shrimp was seasoned to perfection- a hint of garlic not overwhelming, peppers, and spices. The shrimp was not overcooked just right. I don't drink so I had Cranberry juice. The organizer arrived about 7:15. We chit-chatted until the others arrived. Only 4 were in attendance. One ordered the Beef Skirts and the other the Garlic Shrimp. The organizer did not order per se but I honestly believe she ordered the sample tray for all of us. And I may be calling it a sample tray and it could be something else but anyway, it consisted of: Hummus, roasted Brussels sprouts, roasted carrots, pita bread, and spicy chicken bites. It was delicious! You had a variety of everything. All very good When I asked the Bartender to bring my ticket, he said everything was on the house??? We thanked him but in the back of my mind, I felt like the organizer of the meet and greet paid for our dinner. As I said she did not order anything for herself. Either way, it was very good and well-received. The interior of this beautiful cozy place was just that! The artwork on the walls and the decor throughout were very nice. There was a DJ on site and he played the best music from hip-hop to R & B. The ambiance is casual or chic for the ladies. I will definitely be returning to try other items on the menu. read more

I had the mussels, branzino, broccolini and Tiger Lily cocktail. Mussels were good quality and delicious. The sauce could have been a little thicker to dip the bread, and the bread was a little burnt. However the flavor was there. The Branzino was one of the best in Atlanta, probably second only to Zakia. Filleted perfectly, lightly seasoned and super crisp skin. The cocktail was tasty! a great take on a mezcal drink. Johnny was an amazing server! He knew the menu well and made good recommendations. We tried several small plates (look at my photos). It was great to try a little of each thing, and we ordered chickpea hummus, pita, patatas bravas, grilled octopus, lamb skewers, garlic shrimp, and Moroccan Hot Chicken Bites. They were all good and well seasoned. They have a mocktail menu and Johnny crafted a spin on the Black Hole Sun (no blackberry) for my mother in law. She liked it We ordered a large plate of seafood paella to share and it was okay. It could have had more seafood and less rice as far as the ratio. It was definitely shareable but I'd give another large plate a shot the next time. For dessert, my mother in law wanted the chocolate torte which was very rich and good for anyone who loves chocolate desserts. She liked it but I didn't as much. I decided to try the Spanish Olive Oil cake but didn't care for it. The chocolate torte was better. Overall, the experience was amazing. I felt the love and we were treated well. We had a nice spread including the asparagus, PEI mussels, Brussels sprouts, mushroom toast, lamb skewers, smaller bacon wrapped dates, grilled skirt steak, hot Moroccan chicken bites, ahi tuna crisp, chicken bites, garlic shrimp. My faves were the bacon wrapped dates, grilled skirt steak, and the hot Moroccan chicken bites. Service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was quiet enough to have a conversation and is great for groups. Overall a great night. As for parking Gypsy kitchen is located in buckhead village, complex of restaurants and retail shopping. There is valet available for the complex which was $20. I was surprisingly disappointed, after hearing great things about this place I was less than pleased. We went in for lunch on Sunday, it wasn't busy at all. We were seated at the high tops next to the bar right away and no server for a good 30min. I had to stop someone and ask who was supposed to be helping us, he went and grabbed someone who temporarily took our drink order and served us some water. It took well over an hour to get drinks and appetizers even though the bar tender was kicking out drinks back to back to customers at the bar. Customers that arrived plenty after us were being served while we were waiting for drinks. We ordered the seafood paella, which truly was a good portion for 2 people however our paella had 0 clams (shrimp, clams and mussels in description). The rice was delicious as was the shrimp. Delicious Spanish tapas! Great for a quicker sit-down dinner. We came on a Friday for dinner around 6:00pm with reservations though I think we could've grabbed a table without. It was still happy hour, so we ordered a glass of the Sottal Vinho Leve, the mushroom flatbread, chicken croquettes and the patatas bravas (happy hour portions). My brother liked the croquettes so much we ended up ordering more- it was no longer happy hour, so we got a regular order which came with 5 instead of 3. We also tried the skirt steak, octopus (my personal favorite), meatballs, brussel sprouts, and the grilled cheese. I loved the octopus and brussel sprouts- I would definitely order these again. They were both so flavorful! Meatballs and grilled cheese were mediocre. Nothing exceptional. Skirt steak was fine, I liked the chimichurri and the garlicky vegetables underneath the steak, but I couldn't care much for the actual steak. For dessert we tried the olive oil cake and the chocolate torte. I was disappointed by the olive oil cake- it was quite dry. I don't love lemony desserts, but the lemon curd and whipped cream on top were desperately needed for some added moisture. I adored the chocolate torte. Dare I say one of the best I've had! The depth of the chocolate flavor - perfect. The chilli flavor was lacking- felt like false advertising. Nevertheless, a delicious dessert- no complaints here. Gypsy Kitchen is the Buckhead-ification of tapas. Beautiful restaurant. Lovely service. In toney Buckhead Village. The brunch menu has as many Middle Eastern dishes as tapas. And it was perfect for my extended family which was not looking for a culinary experience but a nice place for a Sunday brunch that had enough variety to satisfy our picky group. The food took a backseat to catching up with each other and hearing about each other's children. I had the famous Spanish dish shakshuka. Just kidding. Shakshuka is from Tunisia. And it was pretty good although it could have used way more harissa. But I was so busy talking that I forgot to ask for hot sauce. My wife had a very tasty shrimp dish the looked to be the best meal on the table. Bottom line: this is a great place for a bunch of people to get together. Food: We basically ordered half the menu!! I'm only going to point out some of my favorites though to keep this review to a still unreasonable length. I loved the whipped feta, it was smooth and creamy and that blackberry sauce balanced out the tanginess of the cheese. The mushroom toast was also great, the mushrooms were very meaty and they weren't stingy on how much they put on there. I tasted the herbs, but not a lot of the balsamic reduction, so I was missing a little bit of that sweetness. The seafood paella was also great, the rice was amazing. I liked the flavor and the crispy bits!! All of the different seafoods were yummy, too. My favorite though was the croquetas de pollo. The chicken was moist inside, and the flavor was amazing. The garlic aioli was delicious and paired nicely! Service: The food came out really fast even though it was super busy. Our server was nice and came by every 5-10 minutes. My husband and I have dined at Gypsy Kitchen three times now, and we confidently recommend it to anyone looking for a unique twist on classic dishes. We've tried nearly everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Their Brussels sprouts, in particular, are a must-try--they might just be my favorite in all of Atlanta (which says a lot!). Each dish is plated so beautifully, it's impossible not to snap a picture and admire the chef's thoughtful presentation. Dinner service has always been excellent, and I have to say--this is the perfect date-night spot. The outdoor patio, with its dim, romantic lighting, creates such a sexy vibe. You really can't beat it. That said, the brunch service on two occasions has been underwhelming. It seems they may be understaffed during the day, so be prepared for a wait when it comes to food and drinks at brunch. The only food we do get is the chicken croquettes and they never disappoint. Atmosphere - They have both indoor/outdoor seating and a big bar. It's usually that crowded inside.
