I went on opening night and before I could even make it to my table, I ran into the Mayor of Atlanta. That's when I knew the buzz was real. The sushi was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and easily one of my favorite things we ordered. But don't make the mistake of stopping there. The jollof rice was packed with flavor, and the grilled red snapper was cooked perfectly. Honestly, every dish that hit the table was a win. The vibe felt very Atlanta. Good music, stylish crowd, and a mix of date nights, celebrations, and people just wanting to check out the city's newest hotspot. It felt upscale without trying too hard. One piece of advice: valet or Uber. Parking isn't something I'd want to deal with, especially on a busy night. Pull up, enjoy yourself, and let someone else worry about the logistics. I chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner and unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had. I made a reservation for a party of 14, and despite arriving on time with my entire group present, we were not seated until more than 30 minutes after our reservation time. We were repeatedly told that our table was being set up, which clearly was not the case. Having 14 people standing around in a crowded waiting area with nowhere to comfortably wait was awkward, embarrassing, and frustrating. Several members of my party had to stand outside because there simply wasn't enough room. For the inconvenience, the only compensation offered was a complimentary drink for me. I was also told I would receive a complimentary dessert for my birthday, but that never happened. To make matters worse, our waitress later informed us that there wasn't even a dessert menu available. The restaurant's air conditioning was broken the entire evening. I spent most of my birthday dinner sweating and uncomfortable. I had invested a significant amount of money into professional hair and makeup for the occasion, and sitting in a hot restaurant completely took away from the experience. The valet situation was also strange and uncomfortable. Guests were required to ride in a golf cart to a parking lot that easily could have been accessible on foot. While taking photos outside with a friend, a valet employee drove up in a golf cart, stopped nearby, and stared at us for an extended period of time, making us feel extremely uncomfortable before eventually leaving. Service from the kitchen was equally disappointing. Food took an unusually long time to arrive. The lamb chops were surprisingly small for the price, and one guest in our party didn't receive her sushi roll until after everyone else had finished eating and servers had already begun clearing plates from the table. The only bright spot of the evening was the company of my friends and family. They made my birthday memorable despite the restaurant's shortcomings. Alright, so I got to check out the highly anticipated Spice ATL. I have been to the one in charlotte so I was excited about the one here. Parking - is interesting. You can valet park and take a golf cart to the restaurant. It took me three times to find the valet. That can be improved. I came on a Friday night and sat at the bar. The ambiance is fire! It's a great date night spot. Grown and sexy and sophisticated vibes. Dress accordingly! My service was great. The food was amazing and flavorful. I enjoyed myself here and wouldn't mind coming back. I will admit I wasn't completely confident that the food here would be good. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was a place that focuses more on aesthetic, but I did enjoy what I ordered for the most part. I came with a friend and we ordered four items to share: the crab fried rice, the salmon satay, the shrimp tempura, and the red snapper. I will say I enjoyed three out of the four though with the red snapper we had to ask for some new sauces and once we got those, I enjoyed it. The fried rice is really good to me. I really liked how it was flavored and cooked, though the server made it seem like the portion would be much bigger than it ended up being. Fair warning but this place has definitely small portions, but it is a tapas format so that does make some sense. I didn't like the salmon satay at all. I feel like it was cooked well, but I didn't like the flavor and my friend pointed out that she thinks they mixed suya seasoning with probably some Asian flavors and I just didn't like the combination so I could've done without that. The shrimp tempura was probably the best item that we ordered. It was covered in this sweet sauce that was really good. I genuinely enjoyed it. The red snapper was interesting because by looking at it, it looked like it could be a little burnt, and it actually tasted like it too, so we both thought that they probably did overcook and eventually burned this red snapper and at first we didn't really like it with the sauces that were already on the plate it came on. We asked our server if there were any other sauces and he brought out two with one that he actually made himself and those were really good. I was very pleased with the sauces especially the one he made himself and it made the red snapper actually enjoyable to eat. In terms of the ambience and aesthetic, this was definitely one of the best parts of this restaurant. It has a really upscale and luxurious look and feel to it and kind of reminds me of a lot of the nice restaurants that I've been to in Miami so that's kind of a nice treat to be able to experience that in Atlanta. I also thought the service was really good. I felt like everybody that helped us was really nice, really friendly, warm, attentive, and pretty much anything that you could ask for out of waiters and waitresses. My experience at Spice ATL was extremely disappointing, especially when it came to the customer service. Our server was extremely slow and inattentive, and it took far too long just to get our order placed. We were left waiting and had to spend a significant amount of time trying to get our server's attention. Even after finally getting our order in, our meals took an unreasonably long time to come out. The lack of urgency and attentiveness from our server made the entire dining experience frustrating from beginning to end. The food was also disappointing. The rice in the sushi was not properly cooked, which significantly affected the quality and overall taste of the dish. The drinks were also very weak and lacked flavor, which added to the overall disappointment of the experience. What was particularly frustrating was being charged a 22% service charge when the restaurant's online information states 20%. I understand that the difference is only 2%, but at the end of the day, it's the principle. If a business advertises one percentage, customers should be charged that percentage--not something different without a clear explanation. I also found it concerning that complimentary shots are being offered in exchange for customers leaving 5-star reviews. In my opinion, reviews should reflect a customer's genuine experience, not be influenced by incentives. That makes the 5-star ratings feel misleading and makes it difficult for potential customers to get an honest idea of what to expect. Overall, the extremely slow and inattentive service, long wait to place our order, excessive wait for our meals, improperly cooked sushi rice, weak drinks, discrepancy with the service charge, and the practice of incentivizing 5-star reviews left a very negative impression. The management was also poor and unresponsive, which made the experience even more frustrating. I would strongly encourage management to focus on improving the actual customer experience rather than trying to influence reviews. read more

It seems like the restaurant focuses more on aesthetics than the actual dining experience. We also spoke to the manager about our concerns, and he showed little to no care about resolving the situation. On top of that, we were being rushed and asked to leave because of a supposed 90-minute table limit that was never communicated to us beforehand and we hadn't even been there for 90 minutes. Unfortunately, like many Atlanta restaurants this is an establishment to be seen at and not care too much about the food. I felt like the menu was not well thought out, so many of the sushi rolls had kani on them and there was nothing interesting about really any of them. The entrées seemed haphazardly curated. As far as the service, we had to ask for soy sauce with our sushi, but the server only brought one little bowl and didn't bring soy sauce for both people participating in the meal. It's not like this was sushi that was not meant to be had with wasabi or soy sauce. We ordered traditional American sushi rolls and not sashimi or Nigiri that wouldn't really require any accoutrements. A good meal for me means that the server anticipates your needs to some extent especially when automating tip for even small parties. I feel like this restaurant is trying to be fancy without really knowing class and is made for influencers, not for someone who is willing to spend money for good meal, good service and an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. It's so obvious that the goal here is not to give the diner good restaurant experience, the goal is to have as much exposure on social media in order to make the most money with the least amount of effort. This type of restaurant usually does not have longevity. When will the Atlanta food scene finally realize that the only way to have a successful long-standing business is to provide quality over fluff? I was in ATL for the weekend and decided to check out Spice for dinner. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed. The staff at the entrance and reception desk were warm and friendly. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, like it's giving luxury vibes. For dinner, I ordered the Korean chicken wings with a side of brussels sprouts, and both were delicious. Fun fact: I only recently started eating brussels sprouts because I'm admittedly a little childish when it comes to veggies , so trust me when I say these were GOOD! As for drinks, I ordered three mocktails. They weren't listed on the menu, but the bartender promised me he'd make something nice for m and he definitely delivered. Every single one was amazing! We arrived early, but the parking was surprisingly easy and reasonable for valet, which was $20. They even had a shuttle to take us to the restaurant! The decor was beautiful, and I had high expectations for this place. However, our experience took a turn for the worse once we walked in. We were attending a friend's birthday dinner for 15 people, which we had booked way in advance. We arrived around 8:48 p.m. and were told that our table wasn't ready. We understood that we had come in super early and didn't have a problem waiting at first. But there was nowhere to sit to wait for our table, not even a single chair inside or bench outside the restaurant. The bar was packed, so we just stood there until our reservation, which was at 9:30 p.m. We didn't get our table until 10:12 p.m.! Drinks took another 30 minutes, and the food didn't come out all at once. There was even an order mix-up, and the staff didn't know who had ordered what! I personally didn't get my food until 11:20 p.m. To make matters worse, the female manager, who was short and petite, kept recording videos and taking pictures of herself in front of the restaurant while we were waiting on our table. It was very unprofessional. I hope this changes, and you'll have a better experience for your customers, especially as a business owner. I was extremely disappointed with the service.
