Samantha was very helpful and courteous. During my purchase she was assisted by Flavio. A newer employee. When you buy here you do pay more that private party sales BUT you're getting an inspected vehicle and flaws (that they know of) are disclosed. The purchase was a no pressure deal, and the best part, no haggle pricing! This is my second used car purchase from Carmax. I recommend Carmax over other means of buying a used car. When you buy here you can be sure there are no hidden "demons" under the hood! If you're in the Norco dealer, ask for Samantha!! She's very chill and has a good sense of humor. We had a few good laughs, unusual when buying a car!!!' read more

They gave me the $22,000 they told me online and there was no games after they looked at my car. That is the only reason I am giving two stars. The rest of the trip was a headache because of my car registration. My renewal was due Sunday 8/2 and I sold the car Monday 8/3. The DMV lets you pay on the next business day when the due date is on a weekend so there is no penalty. I called CarMax and told them about this. The person on the phone said a manager approved it and put a note in my system file. But when I was at the Norco store they did not care what the phone person told me. We argued and they pretty much accused me of lying about my registration. The DMV notice says due date, not expiration. I read those as two different things. The store insisted the due date was the expiration and acted like I made something up. It is pretty bad to question a customer's honesty over confusing DMV wording instead of just clearing it up. Then they made me pay the $337 annual renewal out of pocket before they would buy my car. They gave me a lecture about ethics saying they can not pass that cost to the next buyer. But do the math. I paid for a full 12 months of registration and the car goes on their lot with paid tags, so the next buyer gets that benefit. CarMax did not give me any extra money on my payout for it. That's just CarMax getting a $337 asset for free while hiding behind ethical condescending language. The price was good and the inspection was fine but the communication was really bad. If the phone rep says one thing the store needs to honor it, and they should skip the moral lecture while they take your money. read more

I dislike leaving negative reviews, but parents buying their teens first car, deserve to know about my experience with CarMax Norco. I purchased an $18,000 2018 Toyota Corolla for my 17-year-old daughter because safety was my top priority. I immediately noticed that all four tires were low on tread, and the front driver's tire appeared to have what looked like exposed wire, but was determined to be damaged. Multiple associates inspected it, yet I was repeatedly told it only had "sun damage" or "heat damage" (which to them was common, but still dangerous according to my research) --and still met CarMax's standards. I asked that the tires be replaced, but management refused. After multiple discussions and several inspections, the best they would offer was replacing just one front tire, even though I was told their own policy is to replace front tires in pairs. I ultimately had to pay $115 out of pocket for the second front tire myself. They could have easily paid for 4 tires to cover their liability, and also as a customer courtesy. After spending $18,000 on the vehicle, purchasing a $2,800 MaxCare plan, financing the balance with my outside financing, and putting $6,200 down, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect safe tires on a vehicle being sold to a family with a new teenage driver, who plans on driving to work, school, and to help run errands with her elderly grandmother. My salesman and several associates were kind, professional, and genuinely tried to help (that's why the rating is a 2 when it should be 1 star). Unfortunately, the manager who made the final decision showed little flexibility or concern for the safety issues I raised. This was my third CarMax purchase, but it will be my last. Before buying here, carefully inspect the tires and don't assume they'll replace them simply because they technically meet minimum standards. In my experience, a traditional dealership offers more room for negotiation and a greater willingness to work with customers when legitimate safety concerns arise. I'm sure nothing will come out of this. It's simply a way of warning others about the subpar service that I received in reference to this situation. When you walk away from a purchase like this, you want to feel confident about that purchase. Unfortunately I did not feel that way. ** This is simply documentation for future reference. read more

One hundred percent would buy again from Carmax. Our sales rep, Samantha, was great. She answered all of our questions. She was a pleasure to work with. The manager, Josh, was very helpful with our financing. The whole process was easy. And I absolutely LOVE the Ram 3500 diesel we bought from them. Definitely a five star experience. Oh, and the 90 day warranty they offer was wonderful, and has helped us fix a few minor issues with the truck. It brought us a lot of peace of mind for the purchase. I do, however, wish I'd gone ahead and purchased their MaxCare warranty. It seemed like a good deal. It just wasn't in my budget at the time. But for anyone questioning it--it's a very fair price for all it offers. read more

I want to sincerely recognize Alex, one of the store managers, for the exceptional way he handled a very complicated situation I was dealing with. He was thoughtful, calm, patient, and genuinely took the time to listen and understand everything that had happened. He didn't rush through it or make assumptions -- he heard me out fully, and addressed the issue clearly, respectfully, and in line with the company's policies. I had been prepared to escalate the matter further, but Alex resolved it professionally and thoroughly. His approach is exactly what you hope for when dealing with any customer service issue, especially one that's already been stressful. He truly went above and beyond. I also want to acknowledge Josh, who did his best to assist before I was able to speak to a store manager. He was courteous and made a solid effort to help. Before Alex stepped in, I spoke with Trish, the other store manager, and unfortunately, that experience was very different. From the beginning, she came across as dismissive and unwilling to engage. I had taken the time to write out the situation -- because it was complex -- and asked her if she would read it. She refused. Instead, she said something like, "We'll just call the other store," even after I explained that the other store had already failed to follow through and that I couldn't rely on them to resolve the problem. I had to return my car and arrange another loaner vehicle -- it had become a major inconvenience. When I asked if someone else like a regional manager I could speak with me, she said "Yeah, I'll find someone else to talk" and just walked away mid-conversation. The interaction felt cold, negative, and rushed. Even my children commented afterward on how unwelcoming her attitude was. It should not take a second store manager being called in to receive basic respect, listening, and problem-solving. Store leadership should reflect professionalism, empathy, and a willingness to actually support the customer. Alex embodied all of that -- and I'm very grateful he stepped in. read more

The people there is nice and good but I genuinely hate the requirements when selling a car. They only accept a check of $250 or less and don't accept credit car, only debit card and cash. A debit card can't use more than $10,000 a day and if your car price is over the limit while the banks closed. Like who brings $10,000 cash with them. Also they only accept transaction on the same day, you can't pay separate days. read more

So I randomly went on the Carmax app and started browsing range rovers. Since this is the car I have wanted forever. I saw a black Range Rover on the app and my heart went pitter patter pitter patter lol I reserved a test drive online. And a sales person reached out to me to ask questions and get me pre approved over the phone. Lomax was my sales guy once I got to the Carmax facility in Norco. This guys job was incredibly easy lol Numbers were already run beforehand and I was pre-qualified for the Rover. The only thing left to do was test drive. Lomax checked my DL and insurance, and sent me on my 20 minute test drive. I loved how she drove instantly! I was a little intimidated about all of the buttons and functions, since I didn't know how to use any of them lol (My boyfriend helped out with that later). After the test drive, I signed my life away. And I am a happy customer. I love my new rover!!!! I named her Raven. read more

Samantha, Samantha, say it with me Samantha. Wow what a helluva person. 10/10 5+ stars. Absolutely top tier personality! She made our experience tonight seamless and as a person who hates the car buying /selling experience, I was IMPRESSED!!! Nothing better than being treated kindly, warmly, and most importantly like a friend. This is how everyone that faces the public should be. Y'all better give her a raise or 5 and don't lose her. My work schedule is extremely demanding and fluctuating. When most establishments would disconnect, Amanda Santiago is great at communicating promptly with me via text and email to schedule or reschedule my vehicle service appointments. I truly appreciate Amanda's willingness to assist in resolving and overcoming hurdles, rather than pass me off to another department or person. Whenever I interact with her in person, I'm greeted with a smile and we laugh and chat about whatever issues my car may be having. I have less anxiety due to her customer service skills. I'd like to acknowledge her hard work on a public platform and request this note be forwarded to her manager please. Thank you, Anthony Rodriguez read more

Review based on service and how easy the trade in process was. First of all, I want to shout out RJ he was so helpful in explaining the process of trading my car in and what the reports meant and even sharing his knowledge and opinion on different cars I had some interest in. At the end I just traded my car in but if I do go back to further look into a car I liked I will absolutely want to work with RJ again. As for the place it's big and clean and stocked and I would recommend you check it out to buy or sell. read more

I went to the CarMax in riverside and left disappointed but when I came to this one it was the total opposite. Their customer service was excellent, 3 people were helping me with the process and they were all wonderful. Shoutout to Ryan,Nathan, & Joshua for assisting me. After being in a total loss and looking for a new car with a reasonable payment CarMax did have great options, the vehicle itself was taken care of & I appreciate them for washing it & putting gas on it before we took it. The only downside of the process was that they needed my physical social and I was not prepared for that, had to drive back home (mind you I live two hrs away) So just make sure you have documents ready so you don't have to go back & forth. Only reason for coming here was because my parents live in this area and my dad was helping me co-sign. Either way Nathan was able to take us right away after I had my information and I appreciate that so much. Overall , I am happy with my purchase and for their warm service. read more

Do not buy a car here. You will regret it. The sales people are nice enough but their warranty is worthless. My husband bought a Chevy Trax here with super low miles from this location. He started shaving major issues with it about a year in that were intermittent at first but only got worse. He took it to the Duarte location near work and they told him they could not work on it and to take it Chevy. Well 3 Chevy trips at $250 diagnostic each time and 9 months later and it is still unsafe to drive. It will decelerate, all the gauges go nuts and it loses all power steering. He has had so many close calls because of this car. We returned to the same location hoping they would do the right thing but CarMax won't take it back. We are looking into the possibility of a lawsuit if someone doesn't contact us to buy it back because we shouldn't have to keep paying for a car that is unsafe especially when we bought the extended warranty for just this purpose. It seems like many others share this bad experience so a class action may be on the horizon for CarMax which is exactly what they deserve. read more

My son visited this store after having a car shipped for review. He ended up purchasing the car and if it wasn't for the great customer service by RJ, Oscar and the team at Carmax my wife and I would have probably gone to another store. We came to the Norco location tonight hoping to have the same experience and we were not let down. We met Nick and he took such good care of us. He did everything we asked and made sure we were well informed and had an opportunity to see all the cars we were interested in. Nick also made some suggestions to compare with which made the experience so much better. This location is new but they sure run with a great team and act like they have been doing this for years. The store appears small when you look at it but be ready to be surprised and bring your walking shoes because they have a large lot with a big variety of vehicles with all different trims. Purchased a 2018 Silverado from carmax from the start the experience was horrible the sales men lie to and say no haggle which is not true. My truck is having issues sense I bought it I brought it in the first 30 days and 4 other times for something wrong and they told me it's because it doesn't have gas in it.... A year later finally got it in to Chevy to be looked at again hey they say it's my motor mounts.. when the carmax guy said it was just low on gas now we have to pay for this lemon truck so not buy from here they lie to your face and make you pay for it sally is not helpful the manger will just yell at you and tell you they don't care they only care about selling the car. I do not think we should have to pay for this sense the truck had this problem from the start. I will be telling friends and family plus social media no to shop at carmax I owe my own company and you guys run yours like Biden runs this country Long story short carmax sells lemons and takes your cash DO NOT BUY FROM CARMAX!!!! read more

Carmax Norco proved me wrong on so many levels. A few weeks ago I was involved in a hit & run with my car totaled. My husband and I are very busy and can't be without a car. Once we found out my car was being totaled the very same day we went searching and hunting for our next car. I wanted an Acura. Went to the dealer in Riverside no one assisted or approached us. We looked broke I guess ( although my down payment was going to be half of the car price) went over to Honda of Riverside with 6 sales people standing outside not a single one greeted us for about 15 minutes. Only as I started to leave did someone approach us. But it was to late customer service is so important to me I was over it. Started calling Acura dealers in other counties. Did you know there's a covid "accessory fee" that dealerships are adding? Between $2500-$5000 per car additional over MSRP? I had heard about but it's very real and they're all doing it. So go ahead and look up car prices online and add that fee to it. Then they'll add taxes and registration. Some dealerships are also getting sued for this fee and taking advantage. Another story another time. My mother had used Carmax about 5 years ago. I wasn't all excited about it but I knew how nice they were. So I decided to head over to the Norco location because they had a nice selection and I thought if I could find a used one that's fairly new why not give that a try. I was assigned Ryan. Ryan was sooo patient and pleasant with me. I must have dragged him around for a few hours trying to find a car. He understood how urgent it was for me to get a car and he knew I was picky. Yes some cars on the lots weren't great but they were older ones. Ryan searched other carmax's for me with my criteria's. Also out of the blue comes a spunky lady named Trish wanting to know how we were and if we were being treated right. She gave my son some coloring books and offered us drinks and started hanging out with us. I was floored we hadn't even picked out a car or said we were going with carmax and we were treated well. I instantly loved and Ryan. Ryan wasn't phony cheesy car sales man Ryan would also be honest with the cars I had questions about and give an honest opinion. Like we could find a better car or this model will cost this much for maintenance in the future. He found one at another location my husband and i decided to drive to that location and check it. It was perfect. I immediately text Ryan and within 10 minutes our car was being transferred to the Norco location. Easy peasy. We pre financed over the app and then started the financing process over the phone. My car was ready a few days later. Also what I do like better about CarMax is their MaxCare program. My car is covered up to 100,000 miles or 5 years if ANYTHING goes wrong take it in and my deductible is $50. My mother bought an older older car from carmax 9 year old car and MaxCare NEVER gave her a hard time when something went wrong with her car. They took it in and gave her a rental car no stress or questions asked and they would fix her car like nothing. I'm eating my words. Carmax is the BEST. Definitely ask for Ryan. You'll thank me later Ryan has world class customer service. I'm gonna drop a photo of them. LOL read more

Bought a truck 12/31. Had them creat a due bill for alignment as well as a tick in the engine. Scheduled a service date a few days later, and they couldn't work on it until 1/17. Go in for service, and the due bill only showed an alignment and no engine tick. Wanted my vehicle all day because they do not do it in house. That was never mentioned to me until I arrived, I went to my own mechanic and got it done 2 days later on 1/19. My mechanic said I had a tpms sensor bad, a cylinder 5 misfire and the engine tick as well. Called over and spoke to the service manager Brian W. Said everything would be an in house service but soonest would by 2/10 to do it. Well they lied, sent my truck off to a vendor in Duarte, Ca without telling me. Countless phone calls and everyone said the were a "managers" but none of them could access the information off besides it was at a vendor but could not tell me where, or who. Wouldn't tell me what they were fixing, yet they approved things to be fixed. No one who had information would call me back. The store manager Sally as well as a "manager" Trisha were no help. Trisha even tried to intimidate me by calling the pd non emergency line to scare me but then ran to her office and wouldn't speak. Sally eventually crawled out of the back and magically my truck would be at their store in 30 minutes. Total mess! Do not trust them and will never buy from them again! read more

Traded in my old car that I purchased from a Nissan dealership to get a minivan at carmax. The Nissan dealership that I bought my original car from was terrible from the start. Everything was scammy and shady the whole way. It was the biggest most stressful process trying to figure out if I was getting ripped off every step of the way. They even sold my "brand new car" to me with painted over scratches that ended up bubbling a few months after I purchased and it was a nightmare getting them to fix it. I hated that I ever went there and was afraid to go through it again. Choosing to buy at Car max was a breath of fresh air. No wheeling and dealing and everything went soooo smoothly. Everyone who worked here was transparent and pleasant. We were 100% comfortable with the purchase and purchase process from start to finish. I LOVE MY VAN! Wasn't I surprised, when they brought my car back to me, tires filled, the car washed AND with a FULL tank of gas. They only waiting period was the car appraisers are at corporate or somewhere else so they send the appraisal through the computer once someone reviews it. They don't appraise it themselves, but whatever, fine. So took a little while to get. They printed it out on a fancy legit paper so I had 7 days to sell my car or I had to reappraise. I shopped around to other places but CarMax ending up beating everyone by a couple thousand so the last day of my offer, I went back and sold it.
