I had stopped in twice before back in March 2021 when it was Fitchi House. Fitchi House has transitioned into Caravan Restaurant in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood, proximate to I-5. The Homie and I had just checked out happy hour at a nearby pub and decided to check out Caravan Restaurant's Central Asian unique menu items (10/3/25). Central Asian cuisine is from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. We chose to dine onsite, there's limited seating, but noted that takeout was a very popular option. Walking in - the aromatic scents from the kitchen was enticing. The Homie ordered Oromo-Honim that was garnished with cucumber and tomato slices. The flavor was further elevated with added garlic vinegar condiment found at our table. This was a hearty serving of steamed meat roll or Kyrgyzstan dumplings. He also enjoyed a refreshing beverage, Salaam Cola. I had an order of Pelmeni - Chuchvara which was served with a side of sour cream. Amazing flavorful soup, especially dill and carroway, with generous tender pelmeni. This is a traditional Uzbek soup. I look forward to exploring the menu further. Definitely recommended!

Let's get one thing straight, Caravan isn't the flashiest spot in Seattle. It's not competing with the city's best places in terms of ambience or food. But this restaurant holds a gem-like status for one simple reason: It's the only Central Asian restaurant in Seattle. A exclusive culinary genre you will fall in love. And trust me, they're not just filling a gap. They're doing it perfectly. Whether you're already a Central Asian food lover or just someone who thrives on culinary adventures, Caravan should be on your list. Rarely do I walk into a restaurant and fall in love with every single dish. This was one of those rare occasions. What I Ordered & Loved: Samsa -- Think of this as the Central Asian cousin of the samosa, but bigger, flakier, and meatier. House-made crispy pastry stuffed with minced beef and onions, baked till golden brown. It's hands down the best Samsa I've had in the U.S. Rating: 5/5 Uzbek Dumplings (Manti) -- It's practically a crime to leave a Central Asian restaurant without trying manti -- and Caravan serves some of the best I've had. These steamed dumplings are made just right: thin, delicate dough wrapped around finely chopped seasoned meat. Juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. One bite and--boom--flavor explosion. Rating: 4.5/5 Uzbek Plov -- The crown jewel of Uzbek cuisine. A one-pot rice dish made with slow-cooked lamb, sweet carrots, and onions, served with a boiled egg. Aromatic, comforting, and incredibly flavorful. Loved it. Rating: 4.25/5 Obi Non (Uzbek Bread) -- If you've seen travel vlogs from Uzbekistan, you've definitely seen this iconic bread. I never thought i will find it in seattle! Made fresh daily, it has a golden crust, soft chewy center, and a tang from natural fermentation. Topped with sesame or nigella seeds. Perfect with soup or yogurt, or just by itself. Suzma (Yogurt Dip) -- Traditional strained yogurt that's cool, creamy, lightly salted, and gently herbed. I got addicted -- I can't describe how good it is. It pairs perfectly with warm Uzbek bread or grilled meats. A must-order side. 5/5 Kazan Kebab -- This isn't your typical kebab. Juicy, bone-in lamb cuts pan-seared and then slow-cooked with potatoes and onions in a cast-iron kazan. The potatoes soak up all the flavor. A dream dish for lamb lovers. 4.75/5 Mastava (Hearty Rice & Beef Soup) -- A warm hug in a bowl. Fragrant lamb broth with rice, lamb chunks, potatoes, carrots, and herbs. Comfort food, Central Asian-style. 4/5 Carrot Salad (Morkovcha) -- A deceptively simple dish. Shredded carrots tossed in olive oil, vinegar, and dill, light, crunchy, refreshing. This one has a backstory involving Korean roots, but let's save that for another day. 4/5 Laghman -- Central Asian and Uyghur Classic Noodle Dish. Chewy, hand-pulled noodles stir-fried with veggies and thinly sliced beef. Balanced, bold, and hearty. Rating 4.25/5 A Little Backstory: This spot has a legacy. It's taken a few forms in the last four years -- once called Fitchi House, then run by a Turkmen owner who served Turkmen and Italian dishes, followed by a Kyrgyz woman who made it feel like dining in a Central Asian home. Now, they told me it's in the hands of a new owner from Chicago, who is already running a central Asian restaurant there-- and he brought his professional chef all the way from there. The result? The food has reached a whole new level. It's a humble space with just 15 seats, casual and unpretentious. But every bite tells a story. If you try it based on this post, thank me later. * They don't serve any chicken. Lamb and Beef is zabiha Halal.

Caravan is a cozy little spot with only three tables, giving it the feel of eating in someone's home kitchen. Food is ordered at the kitchen window. The food matches the vibe: wholesome, simple, and comforting. The Goulash was the star, rich and hearty enough that my Mongolian partner said it tasted just like her childhood. The Stir Fry Boso Lagman had great earthy flavor from the veggies, but barely any lamb (just three slices), which was disappointing. Still, for authentic home cooking in a tiny, intimate setting, Caravan is worth a visit.

Go here before it's on every "best of Seattle" list. There might still be a short line or a wait, but it'll be better than when everyone finds out about this gem. The food is nothing short of spectacular. Deep, layered, distinct flavors in every dish. Everything is made from scratch. We had to wait on the samsa and lagman because they had run out at 7:30 PM and were in the process of getting new batches ready. We also had the oromo-hanim, plov, and achik gusht. All of it was fantastic and worth the wait. It's small, probably ideal for takeout only, but if you're willing to cram into one of the few tables they do have, have your meal there. The warmth provided by Hatam Beig (I might be butchering the Cyrillic spelling) is an incredible host and will make you feel welcome and at home in the cozy environs.

Some of the most unique food i've had in seattle, and truly delicious aswell!! Went with a few coworkers and not only was the service amazing it was super quick too! definitelywill be back again

    Oromo-Honim

We've visited Caravan twice and had great experiences. The food is tasty, portions are big, reasonably priced and the service is always fast. There is parking in the neighborhood. We tried manty, appreciated that they chop meat for the filling, instead of using minced meat. Thank you for bringing your national cuisine to Seattle, we loved trying new dishes.

I could just tell this restaurant was going to be a great experience from the moment we arrived. Friendly staff greeted us as we arrived and quickly showed us to our table. The atmosphere was warm and energetic, full of diners eating, drinking and enjoying conversation. We went for the beef tartare, Chinese scallion pancake, smoked tofu, kimchi trio, spicy rice cake, Chinese broccoli, "that" short rib steak, Kalbi burger, and the kombu cured mackerel. Everything was #brokedamout. The standouts to me were the scallion pancake, short rib, Kalbi burger and mackerel. Parking is available on the street and in private lots. Entree was nettle crusted halibut snd it was perfectly cooked. Again, the sauce was so addictive I could've licked the plate. Dessert was a Darjeeling panna cotta that was dairy free - so good! Our friend's Paper Cake Marion berry slice was also delicious. What makes Joule standout even more is their service - Brandy in particular. I ordered the catfish claypot, which came highly recommended, and it truly delivered. The flavor was rich, savory, and comforting with a beautiful presentation. My one note: order a small side of jasmine rice. The dish does not come with it, and while the claypot stands strong on its own, the sauce deserves something to soak it up. You will want every last bite. The location is charming, tucked into a quaint neighborhood across from a cozy coffee shop and bookstore. The restaurant itself is spacious with a well stocked bar. One side feels ideal for families and larger groups, while the other side leans more date night or casual drinks. It strikes a nice balance. Pricing runs on the higher side, especially since entrees do not include rice or sides and portions are not particularly large. It is something to keep in mind when ordering. Service was decent and attentive, though I would have appreciated stronger menu knowledge. Simple questions like whether a dish is gluten free or whether it includes rice or vegetables should be easy to answer. A bit more confidence and familiarity would elevate the experience. I also would have appreciated seeing Vietnamese representation at the front of house, given the cuisine. Would I return? Yes. The food is good and the space is inviting. I am just not in a huge rush, as the overall experience did not fully match the quality of the dish itself.

The dish was loaded with garlicky, cheesy, and crabby flavor (sweet, briny, buttery, and rich), and it was a joy to eat. The dining room was packed when we arrived, and the space was tastefully decorated and felt appropriate for the occasion and my friend's demeanor and understated elegance lifestyle. I highly recommend Monsoon Seattle!

The wontons were in a delicious chili sauce, and the fried chicken was crisp and marinated well. Personally I felt like the Dungeness crab noodle was just okay, I wish there were more crab pieces. Portions for the dishes overall are pretty small, so the restaurant is pretty pricey overall. For dessert we ordered the basque hojicha cheesecake and really liked it! The cheesecake had a nutty flavor and good texture with the crust. Our server kindly provided us an extra dessert, the panna cotta. This dessert was really light and refreshing - a perfect complement. Overall I really enjoyed the experience at revel. There's a couple standout dishes and service was great. I looked up Paju before in South Lake Union nearby my hotel, and was excited to try it. Ended up finding a partner in crime anyway, and headed over close to closing time. Owner was a little awkward given the timing, however she warmed up to us pretty quick when she said she was going to be in/out as we promised, and did appreciate the food itself. Got the sesame negroni, which was a unique and untraditional way to approach this cocktail. The sesame made it very different, and it remained as strong as I liked. The bugak (almost like a Korean taco with oxtail) was awesome. They were kind of just 2 bites of food each, however what was there exploded with flavor. I could've eaten 5 of these. NY strip was just ok. Didn't get any dry aged flavor from it at all. Not enough seasoning either. Bachan with it--brussel sprouts, kimchi--were tasty though, and the Paju fried rice was awesome. I wish they could put some beef/fish with that and call it a day. One of my favorite fried rice preparation I've had, but hey, I'm a sucker for squid ink. Would definitely come back here next time I'm in Seattle. Next time would sub the steak for the seafood jeon or branzino, however really nice meal otherwise. Compared favorably to other elevated Asian cuisine I've had (Joule in Seattle, Goosefeather in Tarrytown NY, Danji in NYC).

I went two days in a row with friends to try a few different items. This place is great, all of us (4 of us) agree that we'd definitely come back again and again. The atmosphere is very quaint and intimate. The people dining next to me leaned over when they saw my food and asked what I got, and that felt very natural (I'm sure it doesn't happen all the time, but it was nice). The service was good. They are kind and welcoming and helpful. Now for the food... first night, my friends and I got the spicy pork bulgogi and (not pictured) the regular bulgogi as an entree, as well as the jeon sampler as an appetizer (which came with a fish and kimchi, as well as a scallion pancake like dish. It was VERY good. I am not super familiar with korean food other than kbbq, so I have nothing to compare it to. However, it was excellent. I loved the spicy pork (it will be my go to). The rice, salad, and miso soup were excellent with it as well. Afterward, I felt satisfied but not absolutely stuffed. Night 2, my friend and I got the Japchae with chicken, the pork mandoo, and I got the salt & pepper pork belly. The pork mandoo was really good, one of the better pan fried dumplings I've ever had. I'm a pork belly fiend, and it was good, I enjoyed it, but the spicy pork was much better. I saw other people get the kimchi fried rice and that looked amazing, as well as the bibimbap in the stone (or clay? i can't remember) pot. I'll definitely be back to try those. With both appetizers, I wish there was a little more, but they're starters, they aren't supposed to be huge, so I was ok with it. Overall, it's on the edge of madison park proper, what's not to like about the location? The food is great, the service is great, the atmosphere is very nice. Highly recommend.

It's a Sprinter van, and the longest one I've seen. Big signage on the sides. They posted up Friday in a neighborhood near me. I ended up getting dinner for everybody, so I got to try most of the menu, at least in bites here and there. We got the beef, cheesy beef, chicken, squash, and spinach samsas. The squash ones seemed almost dessert-y, because baked squash is not far off baked pumpkin, which the typical American (like me) thinks of as dessert pie in the autumn. The others were all unmistakably savory entrée pies. The great thing about these is how light, flaky, and un-greasy the dough is on every one. The fillings are fantastic, too, but they've absolutely nailed the dough. Each one was about $6, and they do offer sides, though I just loaded up on samsas and off I went. I hope to see this truck more often for sure.
