Biscuits and Gravy special comes with two eggs and bacon
Mark B.

Awesome little local diner! Great breakfast and even better coffee. Always a pot of coffee on brew and mug stayed full entire time I was there. Biscuits and gravy are the bread and butter LOL! Also the only place in town with Ube pancakes

Filipino ube pancakes delicious!!! We enjoy coming here for breakfast whenever we're in town. They have the best customer service!

Great diner in Boise. Friendly staff and great portions. Enough to take home for a full meal the next day. The staff here is awesome! The cooks work hard, and the wait staff is super friendly. One of the best breakfast places in Boise.

Rudy the Rooster
Sergio A.

Talk about old school!!! Rudy the Rooster who is on top of the business sign came from another diner from the '60s that closed down. Rudy needed a new home and owner Nick West took him to the top of the sign 8 years ago. Rudy had been shot twice, so the entry and exit wounds had to be fixed. Welcome to Idaho. Inside the building, wait staff who are incredibly pleasant and efficient will take care of you. How many decades they have been there is a secret. The best damn people in the business. The banquettes are really tired. The seat cushions are lumpy and compressed - the seat backs rock when another patron sits behind you. More of the charm of Capri. If it keeps the tattooed, blue and pink hair, body pierced crowd out, then it appears to be working. This is a place that your parents took you to for biscuits & gravy. No kale or sprouts in this building. Speaking of which, check out the photos of the food in the review. Plenty of free parking as it is connected to a motel. This is a huge advantage in a downtown Boise which does not give a damn about cars and parking woes as they tear down more & more buildings and parking lots to create the next generation of tenement (ghetto) apartments. What are the criteria for a great old school coffee shop? Great skilled table service, fast kitchen and plenty of tasty food. The ambiance scores and the cutesy scores that Gen X, Y, Z and Millennials always whine about are not needed here. We had the open-faced beef sandwich covered with mashed potatoes and brown gravy along with a Rueben rye sandwich and a Bloody Mary. Where else can you get this combination of rib-sticking food? There was a side green salad involved as a nod to healthy living. Would we go back? Hell yes. If you are offended that this restaurant does not have a Drag Queen Brunch or that the menu does not have fava beans with goat cheese or rainbow pasta salad with tahini-sesame dressing, then you need to get to another part of Boise or even Portland to eat.

Tried eating there last week and got food poisoning. This is how they handle there food. No wonder I got sick

Ate there last week. Got food poisoning. The next day I walked to the store and seen theOwner delivering food to there back door and leaving it no wonder I got sick

One Biscuit special

Checked out the Capri today for brunch. Man, was this place crazy busy! Walking into this joint was like walking back in time. Everything was old school. From the decor to seating, everything was vintage. It's a smaller venue so when it's packed like it was today, you're waiting for a bit! We ended up sitting at counter and it was pretty chill. There were a lot of bussers there that helped with drinks and set up. They got us our drinks quickly. They were all nice and helpful. Our server did take a minute to get to us. It was pure chaos there with a full house of guests. It was all good though, we were there to enjoy the moment. Today we ordered the one biscuit special, the bandit breakfast sandwich and a side of cowboy potatoes. The biscuit was hearty and fluffy. It was very soft and fresh. The gravy that covered the biscuit was savory and full of sausage bits. It is very dense so I only was able to finish half of my biscuit. The bacon was a little floppy but still yummy. The cowboy potatoes were good. It's pan fried mashed potatoes with all sorts of goodness on the inside. The bandit breakfast sandwich was toasty and loaded with cheese and sausage. Toasted sourdough, melted cheese and the gooey egg in addition to the sausage made such a good breakfast sammy. If you're looking for a good food and you're not too worried about the esthetics of the restaurant, Capri is the joint to hit up!

Love the avocado included

My spouse has been here many times and she finally enticed me to join her. The large variety of choices on the menu make it hard to decide what to order, so I started with something a bit traditional (and my spouse joined me in the same order so we could discuss it). Very good brunch and made it clear that my normally exotic tastes would make me move to the different areas of the menu next time. Service was friendly, and it is obvious a go-to spot for many.

Capri special I'd order it again

Gotta update this. They raised the prices from reasonable to the same as any other place in town. This should have 2 $$.

We did have to have a small wait. I love the fact that they were busy! Nothing makes me happier than seeing a local business thrive! It was a little over 10 minutes of wait time. No problem, we chilled in the car till we got our text to come in. We were sat, got coffee and juice ordered and checked out the menu. We were both hungry so everything looked good. My husband decided on a stack of pancakes with chocolate chips and a side of biscuits and gravy. I got the Big boy omelet with Moe Joe's potatoes. Our server, I believe her name is Kendra, was super sweet! I have served her before when she came in and ate my at family's restaurant. She was fabulous as a guest and fabulous at taking care of us today. I had requested a fresh cup of half and half that wasn't used my multiple guests. I'm still bring careful with my new kidney. With no hesitation, she gladly gave me a fresh cup of half and for my coffee. I appreciate her kindness so much. Food came out and booooyyyyy did everything look amazing! My husband's pancakes were fluffy and had plenty of chocolate chips. The biscuits were covered with gravy. My omelet was massive and was also covered in gravy. I was ready to tear into them potatoes! They were nice and charry. I know this meal is about to hit! I don't think I said a word to my husband for 15 minutes. The food was so good! Nothing important needed to be talked about when the food was doing the talking for us. My omelet was stuffed with green peppers, onions and all the 3 meats that came with it. I love love love the gravy on top! The potatoes were crispy on the outside and so soft in the middle. The potatoes with gravy is top tier! Of course I tried my husband's pancakes.... so fluffy and sweet. The biscuits weren't crazy dense. I love that they were airy. I really had to hold back on the pancakes, I still had a whole omelet to work on. But them pancakes were the business! It's sad that this joint is clear across town. I would eat here every week if I could. Everything we had today was so good! Everything I had last time was good! The service is fantastic. I adore Memory and Peyton. Now I get to add Kendra to my list! One of the best breakfast joints in town, hands down! I'm so happy I got to start my birthday week at Moe Joe's! I look forward to coming back very soon.

We had a different server than our usual this time and she was fantastic. I wish I remembered her name to give her a shout out. I took away a star because the food wasn't as great as the last few times I visited. The eggs were overcooked (kind of dry and almost rubbery) and the hash browns were under cooked in the center. Now, if you've read my previous review, youd know how much i absolutely LOVE their pancakes - and I've made it my go-to spot for breakfast because of it. Well, either they changed the recipe or someone messed up this batch. It was nice and fluffy, but bland. That signature deliciously buttery flavor was nowhere to be found. I kept taking bites hoping my tongue was deceiving me... but there were no lies. Just disappointment. This is definitely a deal breaker. Maybe I'll try one more time. If it was just a one-time fluke, I'll update this review and stars. :::sigh:::

It has a nice ambience. Inside are a combination of booths, half booths, low and bar height tables, dark wood, with a nice semi-circular bar with a nice, semi-circular metal decoration that was filled with artificial plants, wine bottles, and small kegs. There was a wine rack accent wall on the right. It is located in downtown Boise at the corner of Idaho and 8th St along restaurant row. Our server was Matthew B, and while he was a nice guy, he did not provide good service. It took him a while to get to our table, then after we ordered drinks, it took too long to get them. We then ordered appetizers but he didn't take our dinner orders. We waited too long for the appetizers, and then we ordered our dinners, which also took a while to come out. Runners brought our food out, not Matthew. He did not to refill the women's sodas, we had to ask. He did bring another glass of wine to one of the men, but that was because he was signaled. He did not ask the other people that ordered beer and cocktails if they wanted another. We never had our water glasses refilled. We told him about the birthday celebration, and all he said was, if we ordered dessert, he would put a candle on it. What? Most places serve a complimentary dessert for a birthday celebration. He also took too long to bring us our checks. We're all good tippers. We gave him 15%; he didn't deserve it. The food was OK, not spectacular, but overpriced. As far as the apetizers, the asparagus fries were not that flavorful, though nicely crusted. The cauliflower was just OK, likewise the chicken wings. I did like the honey and balsamic grilled brussel sprouts. Speaking for my wife and I, she liked the BAM Sammy. The side salad was average. I ordered the Urban Burger. While the patty was cooked well, it was small. I can get a bigger, better burger that costs less at any number of restaurants we frequent, including a few near us (we live in Star). I did like the fries. Crispy, with I believe Parmesan cheese coating them. My friend said his smoked salmon salad was just OK. We found it very loud, and difficult to hear each other in conversation. Needless to say, we have no plans to return to Fork.

TEMPORARILY CLOSED AS OF 12/1/25 per letter posted on eatery door. See excerpts below…read more I was a big fan of this eatery under original owners but not so much since the current owners took over. So, I don't weep for their need to re-evaluate but realize fans will be disappointed. If you have gift cards you can use them at St. Lawrence Gridiron or Rustica, two other Boise downtown restaurants with the same owners. From the letter on door: "As many know, there has been a significant slowdown in consumer spending, especially in restaurants starting late 2024. We've done our very best to keep prices in line with what makes sense to cover costs and provide full benefits for our amazing staff," the letter said. "However, with sales down across all entities this year, we must re-evaluate our operations and make the necessary difficult decisions to be a sustainable business. Also, for the first time in many years, we recently lost two key people in our organization, and they both were a large part of what made Wild Root special. Last, we are heading into the slower, winter months. Instead of scrambling to keep the doors open, we are going to shut it down to evaluate everything."

I came here for a late lunch around 2 pm after arriving in Boise. They weren't crowded at this point but business wasn't dead either. My waitress was very friendly. Inside has a lived-in, intimate feel, but it was pretty dark, so much that I wasn't sure they were actually open as I was opening the door. I had the French dip sandwich with a side of tomato basil soup. The sandwich was delicious and tasted homemade in the best way. The "meat" of the sandwich was seitan. I don't THINK it was a perfect meat replica (but I've never had a real French dip), but it was very flavourful. I loved the flavour and the thick cut of their bread, but it didn't have much structure and fell apart easily as I was eating which made the sandwich very messy. The tomato basil soup was a little different. It was slightly creamy but brothy and a little chunky - not a smooth puree. Again, it tasted great and was nice and light, which was a good contrast to the very rich sandwich. It was a little slow, especially considering they weren't that busy. I didn't really mind since I wasn't on a schedule, but this is something to be aware of - don't come here for a quick meal. Not cheap, but worth it for the quality.

But lucky for me, my husband and I were in the area so of course we had to make our way in for brunch. We showed up 45 minutes til close. There was about a 25 to 30 minute wait. We decided to tough it out and kick it. I did ask if we would still get served since we will be sat towards closing. They said yes so we waited. There would be a wait anywhere else so why leave. I just found it so kind that they would be willing to still take us with the restaurant closing soon. It was busy which makes me so happy. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing a local business thrive. While hanging out, I was admiring the fun antiques that were decorated all over the restaurant. Talk about history and charm to this joint. Vintage cans, old cooking utensils, old school packages of Spam. There's so much history in this little venue. It's truly incredible to look at and appreciate. We were finally sat 20 minutes til closing. We got some coffee and apple juice started while we checked out the menu. After drinks were dropped off, we quickly ordered our food. My husband got chicken fried steak and I got the works omelet without the sausage. I believe they replaced it with extra ham. Food came out rather fast since we were the tail end of the day. And boy did everything look so good! My omelet looked massive. I was starving so I was so happy that it was big! The omelet was stuffed with green peppers, onions, ham, bacon and cheese. I also got a hearty side of hashbrowns. My husband got his country gravy that came with his country fried steak on the side for me. I was able to add it to my hashbrowns and omelet. Country gravy and hashbrowns is a top tier combination. And today's gravy and potatoes was money! My omelet was perfection. The onions and green peppers were nicely sautéed. There was a great amount of ham and bacon. The eggs were nicely cooked! Cheese that was in the middle was nice and melty. I ate the whole thing! Did I regret it later, yes but it was worth it! I finished half of my hashbrowns. Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, these hashbrowns were fantastic! And the country gravy made them that much tastier. My husband enjoyed his breakfast. I most definitely enjoyed mine. Service was fabulous. Coffee was hot and always filled. Today's visit was truly fantastic. I heard that this joint is moving to Orchard. I look forward to coming and checking out the new venue. I know I won't be waiting another 20 years to come back. The food and the service was too good not to come back soon. I look forward to another omelet and one of their huge ass cinnamon rolls!
