We were directed to a table that had food on the seat. After asking for a clean table, we were directed to a second table with food on the seat, which I had to wipe off. The messes on the floor and baby seats, and shabby door to the bathroom did not help our concerns about the state of the kitchen. The food was ok. read more

We stopped in for breakfast after an awful monsoon storm that knocked out the power at the resort we were staying at. Looking for someplace cool and a decent breakfast. We were not disappointed. Stopped in here on my way out of town with a friend and we couldn't have been happier. The chicken fried steak was crispy to almost teeth shattering levels I loved it. I really wanted to love this place. The reviews and pictures looked promising. Here's the good. The server and staff was very friendly. The menu was reasonably priced. The experience fell flat for me on the food. I had the chicken fried steak. It was huge! However that was because the steak was pounded out so thin that to me seemed unnecessary. The breading was crisp and cooked well but bland. I could not detect much flavor in the breading so I was a little let down. The gravy was the bigger disappointment for me. It was thin, and not very flavorful even though there was a lot of pepper. Also the coffee - which IMO should be great was weak. 30+ years ago I can understand having so so coffee, but with Starbucks around every corner there's no excuse for bad coffee when you're charging $3.00 plus for a cup. If McDonald's can do a great cup for a buck, there's no reason you can't have a decent pot of coffee. It's not the worst place. It was clean, friendly and fast service. That goes a long way and people can overlook a lot. If I was having eggs & bacon I'm sure it's fine. I'd recommend perfecting that gravy and using either a better cut of beef or not pounding it out so thin. read more

So the prices are pretty decent. My omelette was spinach, mushroom and Swiss cheese. It had zero... I mean zeroooooo seasoning. It was also over cooked so it was super thick and dry. It came with biscuits and gravy. The actual biscuit was good but the gravy had so much pepper in it. It's like they over seasoned the gravy because the forgot the omelette The kids said the waffle, pancakes and French toast were good. My family and I used to eat at Cappy's and ate there quite a few times At least 6 times a month, then we noticed that the service seemed to slack off. Last month we went there twice. We think that the daughters have taken over because Connie doesn't even say hello anymore unless we make it a point on our part. Needed breakfast on our first morning in Tucson and this place was close to our hotel. Got seated fast and ordered drinks. I chose to get the ham and scrambled eggs and Bobbie the chorizo and eggs. My ham and egg scramble had lots of cubed ham and perfectly scrambled eggs. A lot of places will over cook the eggs making them hard but the cook knows how to make scrambled eggs. They were soft and yummy and the ham had a good flavor. I got it with hash browns and an english muffin. The hash browns had a nice crunchy exterior with soft interior and the muffin was very well toasted. Bobbies chorizo had great flavor with good scrambled eggs mixed in. It had a good mix of eggs to chorizo and not mostly eggs. She got corn tortillas with it and hash browns again done right. Over all this was a good breakfast in a small homestyle place. read more

This is a "Mom & Pop" place in a strip mall, a local dive which makes it that much better! We were visiting Tucson and looking for a place to grab some breakfast. We visited on a Holiday weekend during COVID, so we figured we'd have to wait. We only waited 10-15 minutes, and were seated socially distanced. The staff was extremely pleasant and very attentive. I have three words for you: chicken fried steak. The other day on Facebook I was reading an article about 35 great breakfast places in Tucson and my eyes were drawn to Cappy's because of the giant chicken fried steak. "It's too good to share and impossible to finish", someone said. Oh really? Challenge accepted, I thought. We headed off to breakfast this morning, and perhaps if I had worn my "Thanksgiving pants" (remember when Joey steals Rachel's maternity jeans in "Friends" so he can pig out on turkey?) there might have been a different end result. DH opted for the breakfast quesadilla and loved the green chilies in the eggs. Good job, Cappy's! This was the biggest chicken fried steak I'd ever seen in real life. It came out (to quote Yzma from "The Emperor's New Groove", deep fried and covered in gravy. And I got eggs and toast, too. I managed about three quarters of this monstrosity before I realized that there was no way I'd be able to finish. I wanted to. I really, really did. I now know how Adam Richman felt on Man Vs. Food when he would do some crazy challenge or other. It was glorious. I did the best I could, and I have no regrets. read more

The chicken fried steak is homemade, not the usual frozen offering - very good. Wonderfully light and fresh biscuits, smothered in a delicious sausage gravy. The gravy is done correctly, with no flour taste so often encountered when the gravy is not properly made with care to cook out the flour taste.
