Driving by Tucson on our way to Phoenix, and we yelped this place in hope to have a good breakfast. It was a really busy place, that's a good sign right? Our waitress was so overwhelmed going from table to table taking orders, she stopped once to refill coffee and second time to give us the check. I did notice there were 5 of them but only 2 taking orders and serving the food. My husband was having a chorizo cheese omelet when half way to his omelet he found a long black hair. Since the waitress was so busy we told her when she was handing us the check. We are very reasonable people and know that sometimes things/accidents happen. All we want it was for them to be aware that if you're cooking food wear a hairnet or be more careful. Not making a big deal we went to paid for our meals. It wasn't the waitress fault but she apologized sincerely. On the other hand the owner or manager decided to take half of the meal giving us a $4 discount for the incident. We didn't ask for anything in return but that was more like an insult then trying to make it right. As far as the food goes, it was decent nothing crazy. Just your typical breakfast with a few Mexican dishes. We love our moms and pops restaurants, and we're always looking forward too trying new ones. This was a one time deal and won't becoming back. Straight up no nonsense breakfast lunch place in a strip mall off Prince just eat of Flowing Wells. Nothing fancy, just huge portions, reasonable prices and great service. It a neighborhood spot. Amended review, Hubby and I were going to try something else today, but it was closed for the summer. Cappy's was nearby so we returned. Great decision! I ordered Huevos a la Mexicana, and Hubby ordered the Breakfast Quesadilla. Both were delicious! The Serrano peppers in the Huevos al la Mexicana were a bit too spicy for me, but it tasted SO GOOD I kept eating. Hubby and I traded dishes at the end. He loves very spicy foods and really enjoyed his portion of the Huevos. The Quesadilla was delicious and calmed down my taste buds a bit. ;-). 1st stop: Hubby and I both had the chicken fried steak with eggs and pancakes. We won't need anything for lunch. Definitely a hit or miss here. I asked my waitress what was in the Spanish omelette and she had to ask another waitress. I got the Spanish omelette and the salsa that came on top looked like it either came out of a can or jar.. It was smothered in this salsa naming the omelette soggy and not very good tasting. My significant other got a breakfast quesadilla which was super tasty! The coffee tasted watered down and the service was below average. The only reason for the 3 stars is for the quesadilla which was good! Probably will not revisit any time soon, but if I do, I will definitely be trying something other than the Spanish omelette. read more

Love a diner! First clue is when the seats are all taken and you have to wait to be seated that you made the right decision. There were 4 of us, and we had the best breakfast we have had in a long time. The green chile cheese omelet was huge with a large slab of hash browns. Big biscuit, cold and also dry. Best thing about my plate was the coffee. Won't go back. As I eat CF steak at every greasy spoon that offers it for breakfast, Cracker Barrel is so far still routinely the winner: good crispy breading to meat ratio, nice size eggs, moist biscuits, adequate but sometimes too thick gravy. Most of the booths were full and many customers had already eaten so I could not understand why they would only have one waitress who was struggling to keep up. BREAKFAST PERFECTION!!! I'm new to the neighborhood and have been slowly checking off local eateries as a way to familiarize myself with my surroundings and support local business at the same time. Sadly, I now know it will be extremely difficult to try other places since Cappy's is so spot on! Everything was perfect! Our server was attentive without hovering and very pleasant. Our drinks never slipped below the halfway mark. The menu is simple but comprehensive, holding all the standard favorites plus a few signature dishes. There are three - THREE - Specials Boards. My only regret is that I didn't see them until after I ordered. There's also a table top standee that explains their Weekday Breakfast Specials. The point is, there's a LOT to choose from, so read ALL of your options and choose wisely. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs, my breakfast standard. HUGE portions of everything, all expertly cooked. When I say HUGE, know that my steak was the size of a sheet of paper. I included a picture as evidence. Obviously made in-house with actual steak; no frozen pre-breaded ground meat patties here! Scope the silverware if you need an indicator for scale. My friend ordered the Waffle Supreme and Pigs in a Blanket. He said both were AMAZING! Cappy's is definitely our new breakfast go-to! "With a C." Not to be confused with Kappy's on Wilmot (although they have some similarities--in good ways) this is Cappy's on the West side. Easy to miss even with GPS as it sits back in a strip mall with a very small sign. It's a medium/small room but mucho fresh, clean, uncluttered and friendly. Cappy's has a neighborhood feel but we felt like driving across town to try it, and we will be back. The menu has enough choices to please about anyone. My go-to breakfasts are (a) Waffle with eggs & sausage or chorizo and (b) Chilaquiles. I had to make that choice because they offer both (which is somewhat unusual in my experience.) I went Chilaquiles and was impressed. This is the chips with sauce version (not my preferred casserole style) and whatever they put in that sauce was drool-worthy. The refried beans next to over easy eggs was so good I couldn't finish the Chilaquiles. And coffee was surprisingly good, but the decaf not-so-much. read more

This is definitely a fun dive diner in Tucson, but it just was OK during our visit. Coffee was super weak, which is a big problem in my book! When the coffee was poured, you could tell it was a light brown color as opposed to being rich and fully brewed. It was pretty disappointing, and I actually ended up needing a Starbucks run after breakfast for some extra caffeine. Food wise, you get a TON of food for your money. $7.19 got me eggs, bacon, pancakes (slight up charge to add blueberries), and coffee. You get four pancakes--four! I could only make it through 1.5, but I did really like the flavor. Scrambled eggs and bacon were run of the mill. In short, if you want a filling breakfast, you won't be disappointed. The coffee is strong and maybe not as good as it could be, but well within acceptable limits. My wife's omlet was good but the cheese should be inside not on top. The tamale could have been better but they served it with homemade pico and homemade flour tortilla! The refried beans are to die for. New in town and was looking for a morning diner/cafe that was similar to The Place in Flagstaff, a local favorite. Wanting to support local business, I asked my Facebook Tucson network and this was one of the suggestions. I was craving chocolate chip pancakes and a good cup of coffee. The reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because of the fantastic chocolate chip pancakes and crispy hash browns and Yelp is a place for food. But as for the overall experience, the server/staff wasn't very friendly, welcoming or attentive. The house coffee tasted like regular Folgers from the pot, a tad burnt and tasteless coffee. I was hoping that since it says "Cafe" in their name there would be decent coffee. Oh and they didn't have a side of fruit of available. Very busy this morning, so we sat way in the back near the kitchen window. Only two waitress, so the kitchen was stacking food plates in the window and the food was getting cold before being served to the table. Our eggs were cold when the plates arrived. Almost impossible to get a coffee refill. I felt sorry for the waitress, running all over the cafe to try and serve everyone. Taking money from customers, then serving food, without washing hands. Some customers waited a long time to place an order or get the first cup of coffee. Also noticed dried food on the table top. Some of the condiments at the table had expired dates for last year.
