Cappy's Breakfast Cafe - Ham, bacon, sausage omelette & biscuits/gravy - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

Cappy's is a traditional, 60's era diner that will continue to carry on for years to come. The food is good and the prices are excellent. This is a place you will want to bring your kids for a diner experience that will not break the bank. Why even think of Denny's when there is the likes of Cappy's. I'm not a particular fan of chicken fried steak, but I've read so much about Cappy's rendition that I tried it on my first visit. It was HUGE. And it was pretty good, too, which is a complement since I don't care for chicken fried steak to begin with. I could only eat 2/3 of it. So big. The gravy is tasty and plentiful and the breading to meat ratio is right on. Today I had the Monday-Friday special. You choose four items for $7.69. I got a Keto-unfriendly breakfast of ham, hash browns, 4 pancakes, and biscuit an gravy LOL. Yum! The pancakes were good as were the hash browns, and the biscuit was large and fluffy and the gravy was very good. Yes, I took a take home box. Try them out. Tucson has some good diners and this is one of them. I'll be back another time to try their lunch menu. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs! read more

Great food, very reasonably priced. The chicken fried steak was huge and had a nice gravy. The breading was a little heavy for my taste, but that didn't stop me from taking it home to finish off (it was too big for me to finish in the restaurant). The pancakes were excellent. If they weren't fresh made buttermilk pancakes, then they have the best mix I've tasted. Service was excellent as well with all of the wait staff working together as a team. read more

The food here is incredible! The service impeccable! Highly recommended. The staff is Johnny on the spot. Try their Chile Relleno with beans. Or their Chicken Fried steak! Super delicious . read more

I've been here twice before (years apart). Have been seeing rave reviews for their chicken fried steak, so decided to give it a go. I have zero issues with the staff, overall cleanliness, the eggs, home fries or even toast. All were great. However, zero stars for what passes as chicken fried steak. Maybe they have a new cook, but it was inedible!! No breading, just coated in flour that didn't adhere to the meat and broke off in chunks after frying. Zero seasoning and tough as a boot. Could barely swallow my first and only bite after lots a chewing. Also, coffee is still the weakest in town. I would return but will never order the CFS or coffee. read more

Awesome service, high quality diner food at low prices. Large portions and lovely people.

Visited the area and searched for a locally owned breakfast type spot instead of a chain. This one looked right in the app and I was not disappointed. Got there at 9:00 Sunday morning and the place was packed - always a good sign. Breakfast was perfect and quite plentiful - and the prices were very fair in today's post Covid world. Service was good also. If you like family owned type of places this fits the bill. Recommended. read more

Food was GREAT! Service was pleasant and friendly. Good value. There was a bit too much food for our tummies and we took home leftovers. Less food and a lower price would be appreciated by those of us that don't eat large quantities. And a final point, please eliminate the Styrofoam. read more

Tasteless food. Terrible service. My daughter in law ordered a burrito and it was inedible. Yet she was still charged for the item and they refused to replace the item without charging for both the new AND old item which was barely touched. The manager was rude and indifferent. An entirely terrible experience. read more

Met a friend for breakfast on a Sunday. As busy as you would expect for a weekend breakfast. Food was good, came out fast and hot. Staff was quick and so nice. Only gripe is the seating in the back of the restaurant is very loud because it's close to the kitchen. We were right next to the door to the kitchen and had to repeat ourselves a lot and couldn't hear each other. Lots of clanking dishes and silverware being tossed. read more

Friendly local breakfast place. A little bit hold in the wall, but friendly service and good food!

Good service, dive location/place. For being open since 2016 it looks like it's been here for 50 yrs without any updates. The food was decent. The portions are ginormous. It's a big person's dream. read more

Went here a while ago. Found a hair in my food that definitely not mine has it was a very short BLACK curly hair.

Cappy's is a small ma and pa cafe in a strip mall, but with good food, nice staff and a large menu. We have been several times now and each time it is consistent. The staff are helpful and provide great service, attentive with drink refills and available for questions even when very busy. The food is classic dinner with a Tucson twist. They have several Mexican options alongside classic likes waffles and biscuits and gravy. Everything we have tried from the chicken friend steak and biscuits with graveyard to the Mexican burro and eggs with hasbrowns have all been good home cooking. The food is solid with good seasoning and salsa options tonspice it up. The portions are huge and we always have to take food home. Depending on the dish we think they all range between a 3-4 in flavor but the portion size, low price and great service consistently make it a four for us. If you are looking for a classic Tucson dinner Cappy's is one you should try. read more

Unbelievable service and unbelievable food. Everything was amazing, hot and fast. Couldn't ask for better staff and any restaurant. What a friendly wonderful place. read more

The service here was wonderful! The food though? Well that could definitely use some help. The CFS was very chewy and the pancakes taste old? Which is weird cause as a diner type place we saw that they were making stuff as they ordered it. Maybe they stayed too long under the hot lights but they weren't as good as expected. Also their tamales weren't yet fully cooked since the masa was very mushy which sucked cause their flavor was good but the consistency was something I just couldn't get past in order to finish them. We are looking forward to try it again since it has such amazing commendations so we will see if I get to change the review. Once again tho the service was amazing and the ladies there are super nice. read more

if you love a good mom n' pop breakfast spot, then you will love Cappy's! I found this place by the great Yelp reviews, and I knew I had to give it a try. They offer breakfast specials and traditional breakfast/brunch at very affordable prices. The meals are made just like a classic, nice home cooked meal - nothing fancy but always delicious. The chicken fried steak was delicious, and my kids loved their pancakes! Service was great and our food came out quick and hot. Definitely a little spot to try out for some tasty breakfast classics. My family and I were certainly satisfied! read more

We stopped in for breakfast after an awful monsoon storm that knocked out the power at the resort we were staying at. Looking for someplace cool and a decent breakfast. We were not disappointed. The pancakes were delicious and my husband loved the waffles. It's a small, hole in the wall kind of place, but don't let that deter you. The service was quick and the servers were all sweet and friendly! See you next time. read more

Breakfast can be a bit tough on a Sunday morning; the first place we went had a huge line, the second place said they had a 25-30 minute wait. We called here and were pleasantly surprised when they said they had no wait. The service was pretty spot on, they kept the coffee cup full We all ordered something different, unfortunately everyone was so hungry, I could only get a photo of mine. Would definitely go here again if in the area. read more

It's not a fancy place but the food is wonderful! We were in the area and looking for a breakfast place and this place had some good reviews. Other reviews noted there could be a wait but I thought on a Monday at 10 there wouldn't be - wrong. The place was full but the wait was short. The food was well worth waiting for. I had the loaded hash browns. I don't know exactly how they make hash browns taste this good. It was amazing. We also had pancakes which were some of the best I have ever had. The only problem with this place is that it is too far from my house to go often. :( read more

Perfect! I loved the fast attentive service from Leslie who was rushing with the other ladies to miraculously take care of every customer's needs without being asked. Well, I had a first time experience: medium-rare chicken fried steak. Couldn't cut it easily; tried one extremely chewy bite. They replaced it with a properly cooked steak which was good. Didn't think I had to specify well done..!! Very good hash browns; ok eggs and toast. Wife's omelet did not have much flavor to it and very limited seasoning. Disappointing read more

We came here on a Friday morning about 9:00 am, and they were STILL busy! Good sign that good food was on its way. Super clean, friendly staff, awesome food! Blueberry pancakes were loaded with fruit, and the buttermilk batter tasted great! The chorizo omelette was flavorful, not greasy, and would order it again. Not fancy, but the food and the people are what matter!! All in all, a very positive experience!! I saw chilaquiles on some other tables, and I think I will order those next visit. You won't be disappointed!! read more

I was visiting Tuscon with my wife and kids to check out the local colleges and wanted to stop for breakfast on the way. I asked my wife to find a genuine ma and pa locals kind of place. You know the real deal kind of breakfast. She went to Yelp and found Cappy's. She wasn't sure if I'd like it because it's kinda a hole in the wall in a little strip mall. A no thrills, good ole greasy spoon. Man, it was fantastic. I had the Chile rellenos with eggs and beans and grilled hot peppers. Wow! My wife had the breakfast burrito, my daughter had like an enchilada breakfast, and we had the freshest orange juice ever. I was so happy stumbling upon this place that my wife joked that I wanted our daughter to choose Arizona University just so I could visit and come for breakfast. Make no mistake, there's nothing upscale about this place. It's a tiny little dive off the beaten path and I wouldn't want it any other way! read more
