Housed in a building that was clearly once a fast food joint is my beloved Imperial Palace. How did I miss thee! This location comes complete with a small private lot and unused drive through lane. It even has that faded, red, tin looking trim around the roof (quintessential of fast food restaurants of yesteryear). Once inside, the space is not ginormous, but it's ample enough that patrons do not seem to be rubbing elbows with strangers in adjacent tables. Service is what it is in traditional Chinese restaurants. You will some times get someone super friendly and some times get someone who is curt. Their food is just as good as I remember from when they used to be on 37th ave. Missed their steamed sticky rice dish most! Goes without saying that I found the "Steamed lobster over sticky rice" fabulous. Liked the "Cage free chicken" (the one that looks like it's poached) better than the Crispy chicken (I found many parts of it to be too dry. It was the other members of my party that ordered that, I never do). I pretty much was more than happy with everything except that "fried thingy" that was reminiscent of a crab rangoon from take out Chinese restaurants (also my friend's choice). To be clear, IT wasn't bad, I just don't consider IT an item of Cantonese cooking. I will definitely be back! read more

Our go to dim sum/Chinese banquet without having to go into Flushing! Food is average and I've had better dimsum elsewhere but it's very convenient, especially if you live in the Bayside or NHP area. Food is decent but they're known for their Peking porkchop which is a must. Service can be a little curt but they're quick and it does get very busy and crowded at peak dimsum and dinner times - longest we've had to wait was probably 20 minutes. They do have a party room available that fits two banquet tables which is a plus. read more

| left a 15% cash tip today and was told by my server that it "wasn't enough" and I was forced to pay 18%. This was after poor service to begin with. Tips are not mandatory, and it's unacceptable for staff to pressure customers for more. I won't return to a place that treats guests this way. read more

We came here for dinner and ordered a lobster dish, fried rice, shrimp with veggies and a chicken dish. The food came out at a decent time even though the place was packed. The food was overall good and had good flavor along with large portions. read more

Came here on a Saturday noon time for dim sum. Got seated right away. The food was on the spot and well made. They were delicious. The place soon got too crowded and there were little to none space for the dim sum carts to go around. It got crowded and hectic pretty soon. This place is quite convenient and perhaps will come here more frequently... I'll come again since i liked its service, its variability, and convenience. Went there a few times. Decent selections. Once they get busy, they tend to urge you to wrap it up so they can bring more customers in. They will say things like "We did give you the check right?" "I can take this plate away now?" "Do you want that packed to go?" Pretty obvious hints where you feel rushed out and about. read more

This might be my next favorite dim sum spot without needing to trek into flushing. This place is located on northern Blvd in bayside. If you know where the old bcdtofu house was, it basically replaced it. The parking lot is still just as bad. The following is based on the dim sum round only. We were very lucky and got a table for 10 on Saturday at a little after 12 pm. The service was amazing, and whatever we wanted, they pretty much found it for us and brought it to our table without needing to get up to search for it. Note that we were in the private room area, so we were afraid that we would have trouble getting food. Nope, it wasn't an issue. We ended up ordering probably a variety of 30 dim sum dishes (some duplicates), and everything was fresh and yummy. They even have durian pastry for the daring, definitely not for me. The following is worth mentioning or a definite must if you go: ha chern (steam shrimp rice roll), siu mai (steam pork and shrimp dumpling), null pak yip (beef osasum), chun guen (spring roll), fried long green peppers with fish paste ($10 for 4 but very delicious), and coconut square jello. Will definitely be back! read more

Came for dim sum on a weekend to give the newest Cantonese spot in Eastern Queens a try. Not much to add that most won't know - typical Cantonese seafood restaurant menu that serves dim sum. Dim sum was average here. Nothing was great and nothing was bad. Their pork buns with pineapple topping was decent but not enough filling. Restaurant was remodeled a bit from the last establishment but not entirely. Service here was pretty much what you get from any dim sum place in Queens which means it was passable. Prices were also on par with other Cantonese places in Little Neck and Douglaston. Not a bad addition to Bayside but this makes me miss the old BCD Tofu House just a tad. A classic dim sum spot! Come early (before 11am) to avoid the lunch rush because once it hits you'll have difficulty flagging down the push cart ladies to get food. Everything came out fresh and hot! Highly recommend the classics (beef/shrimp cheong fun, chicken feet, tripe, black pepper short rib). They also had some cute novelty buns that are great for the gram but not as tasty and the normal looking buns. There's a small parking lot as well as nearby street parking. A great spot for dimsum to avoid driving to Flushing! read more

4.5 stars i will say. Came here around 10:30am and the place already packed, Some people are on the waiting seats already. There are a lot of carts circulating and the cart lady will come to ask you if u want anything from her cart. Service is quick and efficient. The turnover is quick, once u finish the dishes, they will pick them up really quick. They have their own lot to park but seems very tight , I would rather walk extra 2 blocks to avoid heavy traffic in the parking lot. They have typical dim sum dishes , sometimes the server will come out with special items from the kitchen, like today, when they had the fried squid, which was fresh made and was really good. read more

I was very excited about this old-time- favorite Flushing Cantonese restaurant reopening in Bayside. We dined in for Saturday dinner at 6pm. The restaurant was completely packed. Loud, noisy, and so many people waiting at the entrance and watching you eat. I feel too stressed to enjoy my food. The kitchen was currently short staffing. I hope this is just a temporary issue. An hour after ordering, our soup finally was sent here. Every dish is in a huge portion and of course with a bit surprising high price. Overall, the taste is authentic and good. The only problem of whole meal was the fish. We ordered a live fish $38 per pound and it was not fully cooked through in the center. The chef surely rushed to make it. It really upset my stomach when I saw raw parts on the fish. 8 dishes plus a soup cost $441. I probably won't go back in the near future unless someone else is going to treat me. read more

This restaurant took over BCD tofu house on Northern Blvd. Parking is available which is convenient. The restaurant was pretty packed for a Monday night. Service was good, they made some recommendations for the food. The star of the night was the crab sticky rice. Loved the sticky rice - definitely a must have. I came here during its 3rd day open while it still is somewhat a soft open. This place is newly renovated and spacious with 3 private room areas to accomodate different sized groups. The food is as good as any Cantonese place in Flushing. The food selection is standard and the cooks here do not over oil the dishes. Overall an excellent food experience that you expect. Service was friendly and good. Definitely would come here again for the Dim Sum which is served 9:30 - 4 PM daily. read more

Service The service here was pretty poor. Visited this spot since it was new to the neighborhood. However even being seating in a non busy restaurant it took about 20 mins to be seated. Once seated the waiter took a long time to tend the table and didn't give our table any of the complimentary peanuts like the tables right next to us. After taking our order the food took about 40 - 50 minutes to come to our table that's with asking three different waiters to check on our food.. Once we've received our food there was no rice apparently and they told us to wait another 10 minutes. In the 10 minutes the rice never came out which was ridiculous. With that being said the waiters who clean the tables basically throw everything to the cart that makes such a loud noise. The sound level here is terrible and so loud. I would never visit again. Terrible customer service Food The food was salty and we didn't receive any rice with our main dish. Would never visit again to this place which is so disappointing because we've looked forward to trying this place. read more

I didn't know they served dim sum until recently so I wanted to try it. And I have to say that this is the only place that has satisfied my dim sum cravings lately! I came in on a weekday morning right before lunch service, so it wasn't busy at all. The service was pretty good! Pretty attentive, but also give you your space. Cart ladies come by pretty often & let you know which dim sums are fresh right out of the steamer! Everything is pretty fresh & delicious! They serve a very delicious braised beef stomach + offal (牛雜) dim sum, which not many places offer anymore & the portion size is worth the price! I also really enjoyed their har gow with snow pea shoots (豆苗蝦餃) & Teochew dumplings (潮州粉果)! I wish the braised chicken feet (凤爪) had a little bit more flavor, but it was braised well enough that it was quite fall off the bone! Their lunch specials are a delicious steal - it comes with soup! I ordered one for takeout when I left! I've also been here for dinner with my family several times before (usually pretty busy) & the dishes are very flavorful and definitely have enough wok hei. read more

This is a nice Cantonese style restaurant. The table placements were spacious and not over crowded. The wait staff was polite at first then could not be found after the food was served. The food did come out fast. It was tasty and good size dishes. Lots of filler vegetables if you are into that. The prices were a little on the high side. The have a nice variety of seafood in tanks sold at market price. The is valet parking available or you can park on the street. It was not busy on a weekday. read more

I love having dim sum for brunch. The food was pretty good. But some of the items were a little dry. I think they had it out too long. We ordered Chinese Broccoli and it came out nice and hot. We loved it. The Fried Chive Dumplings took forever to come out but it was delicious. The service could be improved. We had a hard time ordering because most of the workers can't speak English. read more

It's hard to find good Cantonese food in the bayside area. This place is a nice addition. Comparable flavors and taste to flushing restaurants. I ordered my favorite dish the peaking porkchop and it was one of the better versions Iv had before. Tender sweet and sour pork chops. Give this place a try next time if you're craving authentic Cantonese food without having to drive to flushing read more

And what i found to be really different is that when the final bill came, it was an actual printed receipt itemized with the price on it. Delicious and fresh dim sum that we would definitely come back to. The restaurant is packed and there's a short wait even around 1 pm, which is considered a late dim sum session, so it shows the popularity. There's not as much variety in the dim sum carts like other places but they were tasty. we were able to talk to the staff and request dishes not seen in the carts but indeed on the menu, so they prepared for us fresh. read more

We came in this past Sunday at 11am to try their dim sum. The parking lot was full. There was a small wait at the door but luckily we immediately got a table for 4 as others were larger parties. The decor was simple, nothing fancy, don't think they even change anything post BCD. The service was mediocre, we had to ask for the usual mustard and hot sauce, flag down several staff to get a high chair and waiter didn't even notice we were missing a 4th place setting. As for the food, the flavor was decent, but the frequency of food pushed around is a major issue. We ordered 1 shrimp rice roll and I swear the lady's cart was bare. After that, we waited approx 10-15 min for more food to come out. If you sat at the other end of the restaurant, they probably wouldn't have any food left in the carts by the time it gets to them. Pricing was fair. But overall was a disappointment. read more

Honestly, I didn't expect a whole lot from Canton Manor, but now that I've had it I can honestly say it was some of the best prepared Cantonese seafood I've had in a long time. We had twin lobsters Cantonese style and they were cooked to perfection. Juicy on the inside with a smoky, garlicky crust. The fish and tofu casserole was out of this world. They also serve dim sum but I believe it's only until 4:00 p.m. so we miss that. The waiter was very nice and was more than happy to guide us with our menu choices. One word of caution: the place gets real busy and even though it's huge with lots of tables, by 7:00 p.m. there was a line of people waiting that went out the door so I would suggest reservations if you can. read more

Honest to god the worst experience I've ever had in my 25+ years dining at Chinese restaurants, particularly in the flushing/ queens area. The restaurant is insanely short staffed and clearly does not know how to handle/ anticipate certain situations Placed an order for pick up. Arrived on time. Waited over an hour for my food to come out just for me to get home to notice 2 dishes were missing. Called up the restaurant who then forcefully claimed 1 of them was in the bag when clearly it was not and that she'd "owe" me the other one for the next time I would go. I told the lady I had already waited over an hour for my food so I did not want to argue, if she didn't believe me it was fine and we could deal through a third party and that I would prefer to receive a refund versus them "owing" me a dish because with this service, I don't want to go back. She then told me okay she'll void the initial charge and charge me the correct amount (bc items were missing), took down my card info and never did that. I was charged the full amount After waiting an hour for my food the lady said if we paid cash, we would not get charged tax because "the owners will cover the tax for you" but that same could not apply to card? Food was nothing fancy and not worth the time and hassle. If you're looking for Chinese food in the eastern queens area head to ln1380 or jade Asian bistro or the one on bell. Want to gate keep them but won't given the circumstances. Much better service and food is good and cheaper too read more

Went here a few weeks ago for a celebration dinner then went back again for dim sum. Both times the food and service were good. Both times we went during off hours because it gets really busy during prime hours with a line out the door. The ambience is that of an upscale Chinese restaurant, which there really aren't very many (or any?) of to my knowledge in this particular neighborhood. read more

3.5 rating cause it just opened. the interior is nice, really reminds you of the old BCD but it has its own style. Some of the dishes were good, some were okay. I didn't really like the siu mai. Since they just opened, they also don't have some other classics like the dou fu fa or other almond tofu desserts. I think it has potential and I'd go again soon just because it's worth to give it a couple more tries, especially since dim sum is a bit hard to find in long island / queens ish. read more

You Americans never tip. You motherf***er. F*** you," even though he literally has the tip in his hand. This has happened multiple times and the language and disrespect are completely uncalled for. I spoke to the owner, who apologized, but the problem continued. Because of this and the decline in food quality, I switched to Panda Garden just 1 to 2 blocks away. I had never tried them before, but they are a hidden gem. The food is fresh, high quality, and not greasy at all. I will not be ordering from Bell Garden anymore, which is disappointing given how close it is, but Panda Garden has won me over.

One thing I didn't like was that they set the cooked meat aside on the rim of the grill while the raw meat continued cooking in the center. The juices from the raw meat would drip onto the cooked meat, which wasn't very appealing.

Came here today for some dimsum as I heard this spot opened up recently in the Bayside area. The guy in the front seemed like he was inexperienced and did not know what to do with so many customers, he was not calling people's numbers as tables were clearing. The food here is honestly so mediocre, would rather drive out to flushing to get better dimsum for better price, har gow should NOT be falling apart and mushy. There is too little variety of dimsum options in comparison to the competition which is disappointing, they don't even give you soy sauce or hot sauce unless you constantly ask. Here are my favorites: Oyster Omelette: I haven't found a Taiwanese restaurant with a really good oyster omelette in a long time, but Tihu absolutely delivers. It's loaded with large, fresh oysters and spinach, all topped with a delicious sweet and tangy sauce. This is a must order and something I get every single time! Soups: Their soups are incredibly comforting and never greasy. You really can't go wrong with any of them, but my favorites are the clam ginger soup, pork liver and intestine soup, and pork blood and intestine soup. These are my go to when I'm feeling a bit under the weather. Pork Chop Fried Rice: A generous portion served with two crispy pork chops, a braised egg, and preserved vegetables. It's well seasoned and very satisfying. Chicken Leg over Rice: Probably my favorite rice dish here. It comes with two large pieces of lightly fried chicken over rice. The chicken is juicy, perfectly seasoned, and the portion is huge! Crispy Fried Intestine: Another must order for me. It's crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and fried just right. Salted Egg Yolk Tofu: Lightly fried tofu cubes coated in rich salted egg yolk. Crispy on the outside, silky and soft on the inside. So addictive! Satay Beef with Water Spinach: A solid choice with a savory satay sauce and a subtle barbecue flavor that pairs really well with the water spinach. There are still plenty of dishes on the menu that I want to try, but these are the staples that I find myself ordering over and over again. Tihu has become one of my regular takeout spots because of how consistent the food is, and it has yet to disappoint.

I've dined here with my family twice and in the most recent occasion, we came with no reservations around 2:30pm on a Sunday. All the tables were taken as they just opened at noon so we had to wait a bit. Their menu / iPad ordering system was simple to navigate and quick to place. Our table was started off with their spicy pickled cabbage, which was super addicting. I love how the spicy oil was so flavorful and the cabbage was soft and just slightly tangy. We ordered 5 dishes for our party of 5: the la-zi chicken, stir fried cabbage, grilled beef ribs, beef and mushroom bibimbap and mao xue wang. My favorites were the la-zi chicken as the diced chicken was super crispy and flavorful. The spice level and numbingness was just the right amount. Next comes the beef and mushroom bibimbap, which is mixed and served at the table. The flavors were more soy based and was very balanced. The stir fried cabbage was cooked well but the pork in the dish was extremely salty. The grilled beef ribs came with steamed baos, similar to peking duck. I enjoyed the experience and presentation but the dish was a bit boring. Toppings included a spicy hot sauce, cucumbers and scallions along with the sliced beef that was individually torched at the table. Lastly the mao xue wang is a traditional stew featuring offals and blood curds. This one had duck blood, tripe, and intestines. I was extremely disappointed by this dish as I was expecting some tofu and small pork intestines but it didn't have either. The tripe and intestines were very crunchy, wherwas the duck blood was silky and soft. The flavor was very basic mala stew and had a ton of red chili peppers. Overall I had a decent meal at Mountain house but can't help but wonder if I ordered the right things since not everything was as good as I hoped. I will mostly likely return to give their other menu items a try.
