I had work done here last year and was pleased with the quality of the work and the friendliness of the staff. Last week after visiting Stadium car wash my front passenger door was not opening and shutting properly...so I put off having it looked at and this Monday woke up and took it by Mission Valley Honda. They told me to take to a body shop so I immediately thought of Caliber Collision in La Mesa where I'd been before. I didn't have an appointment but dropped in to see if I needed an estimate. The woman at the desk greeted me promptly and was friendly so I told he my door story. She called to a Raul and he said he'd be up to the front in a few minutes. He arrived within two. He said let's take a look. Then he told me they were swamped today but if I bring it in tomorrow at 815 he would have it looked at and done by noon so I could get to work on time. So the next am I did that and by 10am he was already calling me your car is ready. When I arrived he said let me get your car. Then I asked what the charge was and he said no charge. I was relieved as I was worried of the impending cost. Thank you Caliber Collision and Raul I'm now a customer for life! read more

I recently needed some collision repair, my insurer gave up a list of recommended locations, I chose Caliber for its close local and the yelp reviews. A wonderful choice. From beginning to end (a head of shed. 3 days) The receptionist Lisa was professional and helpful in expediting the initial paper work, and knowing the Farmers procedures was great too! Then there's Sarah Hobson , who does a super job in lining all the knowns and unknows in a timely manner.Kept me informed of any changes and because of her and her repair crew I received my car back three days earlier than promised. Everything repaired perfectly! If I every need body repair again I will diffidently go back to Caliber Collision. read more

These guys are awesome!! My poor baby had to get the rear suspension replaced after an unfortunate accident. They had a reasonable estimate and used all new OEM parts to fix it. The part took awhile to get to them but Alex kept me informed all along the way and got it done asap. The work is great and my beloved car is back to normal. Most importantly, they kept me informed and provided great customer service. I feel Like I can really trust these guys! Hope I don't need more body work but if I do I know who I will be seeing!! read more

Two stars because of the work. No stars for the service and making me feel like I'm at the doctors office instead of a body shop. I set up an appointment through my insurance company to have the work done here. I set a date and time for an appointment. I called prior to the appointment to see if I could bring my car in early... the lady on the phone gave me a cold no and said they were all "booked". I should have taken this as a warning sign and moved on from there. Instead I brought in my car and they had me wait in a waiting room for the appraisal guy to come take a look. 15 minutes went by and he wanders out looks at the car for a minute, snaps a few photos and goes back for another 20 minutes to draw up paperwork.. I had a quote drawn up at Sids two days prior and the whole process took 10 minutes. Should have gone with them. Next up: Told there was more work and would take an extra day. I told them no problem and that would be fine. Long story short I didn't get it back for two days after the said return date. I was told that the paint was taking longer to dry than expected but when i drove by the place on my way to the gym, my car was out front with the entire damaged section still needing to be painted. Overall the repair work look good.. Although my cars power steering seems jacked up. Not sure if its from driving a rental car for 8 days or if there's really a problem... I will update this if it is a problem. 1 suggestion: you know when people are coming in to pick up their car or complete forms. Have them ready before the customer gets there so you don't torture your clients with crappy cartoon movies. read more

My car got hit at a stop sign from behind and needed some minor repairs (new back bumper, paint). I drive an electric car and finding a place that would service it was difficult. So glad I found this place! They were very helpful and accommodating! Great and fast service! read more

The only reason they get 2 stars is because they were fast. I took my truck in for an estimate as I was referred by AAA. They are not open on weekends which kind of sucks. My service advisor was terrible. He never physically touched my truck at all. He walked out, took a couple pictures and that was it. Gave me call saying he couldn't get parts for my truck because of its age and that they would have to be used parts or something to that affect, which is fine. I inquired about my suspension damage because it was never mentioned by him. His response was, "what suspension damage." Well, if a proper evaluation was done on my truck, he would know about the suspension. Also obvious that it wasn't moved because surely someone would notice my steering being upside down. I asked why it wasn't thoroughly evaluated and he said, "we don't do suspension." And "Well it's gonna be totalled anyway so it doesn't really matter." The damage to the truck is minimal so I will repair it myself. But just because my truck isn't a huge profit machine doesn't mean it is unimportant. I will not return to Caliber and will stress my inner circle avoids them as well. read more

horrible service they kept our car for a whole month and didnt fix the problem and gave us bogus excuses to why they didnt complete the job or better yet even start the job i wouldnt recommend going to this shop! read more

My vehicle was rear-ended. I took the vehicle to Caliber for an estimate at the recommendation of my insurance company. The service writer went ahead and wrote up an estimate and assured me that all my concerns would be addressed. Then, they sent an estimate to my insurance company and told them a completely different story saying the damage was minimal. I took it to another body shop and it turns out that the frame on my vehicle was bent. If I had the repair work done here, I don't really think the vehicle would have been repaired properly. read more

I giving it 2 stars because inferior quality also they do not inspect car when done. My hood was level before collision when got my truck it was crooked. Went back to them . They would not fix it. Called insurance company they said bring it back still would not fix it. They will not do anything extra also they do not check vehicle thoroughly' Only reason 2 stars is because the estimators call you back. read more

I've had my cars to this same shop at least 5 times (different wrecks each time, not my fault) and they've always taken good care of me here. They stand by their work and will get the job done to your satisfaction. They did scratch up my tinting pretty good on one of my windows in my Nissan Sentra, but I never took it back because I didn't feel like going through the hassle. I'm sure they would have fixed it no problem, but I didn't notice it right away. By the time I did, I didn't want to have to go without my car or wait for them to fix it - still 5 star service in my opinion. The paint amazingly comes out flawless like the wreck never happened. My 6th visit starts tomorrow - woman on drugs ran a red at 50mph and plowed into my side. This may be un-fixable. I thought I bought the farm this time. read more

The guys who delivered my van to me today at Caliber were great. I had a small door ding on the opposite side of the van from where the work was done. They brought out some touch up paint and touched it up. My van looks great thanks to all the hard work the entire staff at Caliber did. Thank you Caliber. read more

Was referred here by my insurance company for body work. They called me that morning to come in but when I went there they told me the estimator was at lunch and wont be back that day or for the next 4 days. They told me they could schedule something next week. Really what kind of customer service is that. I wish my business was so busy I could turn away clients. Went to Sids collision who took me immediately right after that. Complained to my insurance about there referral and hopefully they stop referring to them. read more

the work on my car was good the first time i used them but my experience with one of the supervisor sucked the second time. he was very unprofessional. he seemed to get offended when I asked questions. when I asked for my insurance company to take a look at estimate things went very bad. the insurance company was able to add more value to the damage of my car and to have more items repaired. when I asked about bringing my car back I was told he would have to see. my car was then taken to Sids auto body who did a good job but. I truly liked the workmanship of caliber collision but the mangers customer service has cause me to find a new body shop. read more

My husband and I took our car in for a estimate and the shop seemed to get that done and taken care of in a fast pace. We then moved forward and set up a day to drop off our car. We were told the shop would take 3 days to fix our damages. We dropped the car off at 3:45 on Wednesday expecting to pick it up on saturday. We had a rental car covered by our insurance for 3 days. On Friday morning my husband got a call at 10:30 that the car would not be finished until Tuesday and that they were not even open on saturdays. Which nobody had ever bothered to tell us. I'm not sure why the car was not going to be done until Tuesday. Still in the dark about what reasons they came up with to tell my husband. I then called them and had to speak with I guess a manager. He did tell me that if they had to keep the car until Tuesday he would cover our rental cost if our insurance would not. I was still not happy with the situation, but if I didn't have to fork out more money I felt a little better. Then what do you know magically at 3 on the same day we got a call that our car would be done and ready for pick up at 5. We made our payments and picked up the car happy with the work done to it. Now here I am Saturday morning looking at my bank statement online. They charged my card 2 times for a $500 payment. So now I have a $1000.00 charge on my account. And guess what they are closed!!!!! So nothing can be done about this until monday. Woohoo!!!!! Maybe this shop just had an off week or who knows what. If your thinking about using this shop I'd pass. read more

I was driving home and decided to stop by Caliber Collision in La Mesa to get an estimate since it was on my way. Our son had scraped the right front fender on the stucco pulling out of the garage months prior and I was tired of looking at it. I had looked up the company on Yelp and saw a lot of negative reviews but my husband recently had body damage repaired there and they did a great job. I told the man at the front desk, Juan, that I didn't have an appointment but I would like to get an estimate if they could fit me in. He said yes and a little while later a lady named Sandra talked to me and gathered information on my car. Sandra informed me after looking at the damage that she would have someone come out and look at it and see if some of the stucco paint would come off with buffing and therefore minimize my cost. Mike, another employee, went out to the car and was working on it and Sandra came into the waiting area and asked if I'd like to see. I went outside and he was just finishing up rubbing every last bit of paint "damage" off of my fender. I couldn't believe it - the fender was spotless. Sandra told me that there was no charge and that she was just happy that they could save me money. I had an awesome experience there and dealt with three employees who were extremely professional, nice, and caring. read more

Very pleased. with the work they did. Everyone I spoke to on the phone was very courteous. Javier was my service guy, he called and updated me about the progress of the work throughout the week, got my car back washed, waxed and with a perfect job done. Lifetime warranty on all the work. I would say they are probably on the pricier side.. I almost had a heart attack when I got the number.... but it was all Lexus dealer parts and it didn't really matter since I went through insurance. They did a great job, no corner cutting and you get what you pay for right? read more

I changed my insurance company because of the poor and socially frightening service I got at this repair garage. The repair they made didn't work and they frightened me socially to the point I do not want to return to the area at ALL. I will never use this repair shop or even drive down the street it is on if I can avoid it. There is a Pet Hotel nearby that my family used for over 30 years and now I won't be using it either as the area has become unsafe for Senior Citizens especially. If I didn't have to give it even one star I wouldn't. Watch your personal belongings in this area and watch your vehicle for theft and damage at this garage. I came away with lights on that weren't on before I was supposed to have a repair done at this center. read more

Professional, fast and got our baby looking like new after some idiot hit me. Not a single complaint. I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla S and It doesn't even look like it ever got into an accident. A few weeks ago my 2000 Corvette suffered a hit and run accident in a parking lot in down town San Diego. My insurance suggested that I take the car to Caliber collision for an estimate and to have t vette repaired. I had to make an appointment which took a whole week for the to get my car in for an estimate. After that I had to make another appointment to get the car in for repairs which took another week. I explained my concerns about wanting my paint to match and Jaun the estimator told me it would be no problem. I took my car to them on the day and time scheduled, dropped it off and rented a car from across the street. The very next day I get s call from Jaun at Caliber telling me that because he thought that I was to picky wanting the paint on my Corvette convertible to match that he was going to refuse to fix and paint my car and that I would have to come and get it. This left me with having to find another body shop, get another estimate, return the rental car and start over. When I went to pick up my car I was treated in a rude manor. I would not recommend this collision repair shop to anyone. I took my car to Jimmy Johnson's Chevrolet where I was treated a 1000 times better. They got me in for an estimate on the same day I called them, and guess what, they didn't have a problem with a guy wanting the paint on his corvette to match, go figure read more

I used Caliber Collision because that is what my insurance suggested and figured it would be the easiest. For insurance wise it was, I just paid my deductible and all was taken care of, that was not my problem. My problem with my experience was the time issue. I got in an accident August 1 and my car was taken to Caliber the next day. Both my driver side air bag and passenger air bag were deployed as well as a cracked windshield and broken review mirror, no exterior damage was done. They estimated my car would be done maximum 2 weeks. Which was fine, the only concern I had was that I had to leave for school in the middle of August. SO after 2 weeks go by and my car still is not ready I am a little concerned. I called and got some more information and found out the airbags were lost in the mail and had to get sent out again meaning my car would not be done by the time I had to leave for school. At this point I was extremely worried and did not know how I would move back to my school in Northern California. My insurance helped a little and got it so they could tow my car up to my school when it was done, which was great. But since my car was still not done and I had no other way of getting up to school than driving I had to get a rent a car. I figured I would only have this for a few days, a week max until my car was ready. Turns out I had to have a rent a car for 13 days costing me a lot more than expected all because my car was not ready by the time they said it would be. Once my car was finally done they sent it up to my school and still did not inform me that my car was done or that it was on it's way up here causing me to have my rental car for about 3 more days than needed. The person who delivered my car called me when he was 40 minutes away, and that was my only warning. I had to be there to sign for my car and was forced to miss one of my classes due to poor communication skills. When I got my car back I get in to park it and realize that the review mirror is still completely shattered, like it was after the accident. At this point I was completely outraged. The fact that they put in a brand new windshield and still put the broken review mirror back on baffled me. I don't know if this just got overseen or what but it just seemed completely strange to me that someone could miss that. I called the guy I was dealing with at Caliber, Ben, and seemed to be unaware of this situation. His solution was to send me a new one in the mail and for me to put it on myself. Which for some might not be a problem but I know little to nothing about how to fix a car so now I need to take more time out of my day to go to a different body shop and have someone else fix this for me. So overall my car that was suppose to be ready in 2 weeks ended up taking 4 and a half weeks to get back to me and it still had damage. Costing me almost $600 more than what I should of paid because of the service I had with Caliber. I would not recommend this company to anyone that I know who has been in an accident and needs their car back in a timely manner. read more

I dropped off my 2012 Infinti M37 this morning to repair some scratches, scuff marks, (from misjudging the entrance of my garage), and scraped paint. Unfortunately, the damage was on both the left side panel and left rear panel, so the estimate was steep. However, I asked the maintenance technician, Javier, if he could give me his opinion about not doing a complete remove/install on the left panel, which had less damage than the left rear panel. I wanted to keep the amount closer to my deductible, so I wouldn't have to file an insurance claim and risk my premiums increasing. Basically, I wanted to pay out of pocket if the damage was anywhere close to my deductible. He understood my predicament and volunteered to quickly take my car into the shop and see what he could do. Less than 10 minutes later he brought the car back and there was a significant improvement. They removed a lot of the inorganic material and buffed/blended/painted it, I'm assuming. Whatever he did, it looked great and saved me a lot of money. Of course he didn't have to do that, but that type of customer service goes a long way. And I'll definitely put them at the top of my list next time I need some repairs. read more

My wife and I took our 2012 Lexus to Caliber Collision in La Mesa to repair moderate damage to the right front bumper, grill and headlight. The office staff were very nice and helpful. The work was completed on time. However, the workmanship was very poor. A trim piece on the right side of the grill was 3/8" indented from the surrounding trim. The same piece on the left side of the grill was perfectly flush. The hood/fender gap on the right side was noticeably uneven and the right side headlight was poorly fit. All of this was very noticeable when compared to the left side. When we pointed it out to the adjuster, he said "You know your car better than us." "We will adjust it like you want." We were surprised that he said that because anyone could easily see the difference from the right side to the left. We came back the second time and it was still not correct...better but still not right. The adjuster actually became a little argumentative but agreed to try again. The third time was the charm. Both sides matched and we were happy with the work but I don't think I will go back there again. read more

My car was rear ended and took my car her based on insurance recommendation. I was very unsatisfied and do not recommend this place for your repairs. My service advisor lacked any csutomers service skils and never once kept me up to date on my car's status. They left some repairs off the first time and had to take it back a 2nd time. I told them about rear end noise I was having and asked them to please check it out. They said it was my tires. What? It didn't make the noise prior to the accident. I took it to Mercedes and they had to replace my driveshaft that was damaged. When I told them about it they didn't seem to care the least bit that they never even checked it out for me. Horrible place. I recently has some oe check out my bumper and they daid there was damage to the absorbers behand the bumper that were never repaired. Serioulsly? I can't get away from these guys. Very painful process. read more
