Jr. and his team went above and beyond on my car repairs! Not only did they do what they were supposed to do (basic front and rear bumper repair and whatever things were damaged in between), but they also cleaned my headlight covers, put shine on my tires, and vacuumed out my car before handing it back off to me. Anytime I come to the shop they have free ice cream, great customer service, and free calendars (lol but it was actually extremely useful!) for me to grab. I chose this place based on the reviews that I read here on Yelp. I came in to my rear bumper fixed due to motor vehicle collision. Junior was the one who explained the whole process from start to finish. I am very satisfied with the work that was done and my car is looking better than it had in years. This place is worthy of a super good review because they worked with my insurance company and with me to make sure that the process went smoothly. I was rear ended and needed to have my car repaired as soon as possible. Fix Auto communicated all of the repairs with me and made sure that I was thoroughly satisfied with the repairs. I'm really glad I chose to bring my car here and get it fixed. I also was able to get my other car buffed out for free, after I saw that someone had also scraped the side of it and not left a note. I've always know this shop as "Sids Auto Body", they have been in La Mesa for over 40 years to my knowledge. That length of time indicates they are a business that is fair, does quality work and can be trusted. The August storm blew my neighbor's tree down and it smashed my 1999 Tacoma's truck bed. I only use the truck for errands and I was happy to hear that Sid's was agreeable to install a used truck bed if I could find a junkyard bed. It all worked out, the work was done in one day! Let's start off with my estimator Luis, very nice guy who answered all my questions and helped me through the entire process. I brought my Dodge Durango in for a few scratches that were done by another driver, her insurance covered the damages since she was at fault. Luis was on top of reaching out and getting back to them quickly for us to get the repairs going. Took my car in on a Friday and was given an estimated date for pick up about a week and a half, it was done by the following Friday 5 days earlier then expected! My insurance company set me up with Sid's Auto Body/Fix Auto La Mesa after some doofus backed into my car. Junior, Alice (the receptionist), and everyone I talked to were nice, respectful, and knowledgeable. I know I've had mechanics try to pull the wool over my eyes, but I never once felt these guys had malicious intent with me - I really felt at ease about leaving my car with them. The repairs and paint job were so masterfully done that it looks like my car had never been hit in the first place! Unfortunately since getting my car back the radio cuts out very frequently when I'm turning corners or stopping, but of course that's not something they can troubleshoot when you're sitting on the parking lot so it pisses me off that this is my new reality. read more

where to start? Warning......RUN. DO NOT use this auto shop, regardless if your insurance company recommends them....and I am a pretty reasonable person. I was hit (t-boned in an intersection, front left side) in my 2014 explorer, which was in PRISTINE condition at the time. Fix Auto La Mesa (FALM) did the repair, and it looked good. $7k in repairs. Took delivery and on the way home, I noticed that the entertainment/navigation system did not work at all. Took it back, they spend an hour "diagnosing". Tell me that they cant figure it out, I would have to take it to the dealer. I did. 10 minutes they diagnosed some "module" needed replaced. $900. I called FALM to try to get it added to the claim, they tell me that they cannot associate it with the accident. Whatever, I pay the dealer and call insurance company who called the dealer and covered it. Less than 100 miles later, I'm on my way to Yuma (near the rest area in Imperial County) when the steering failed. Called FALM and they wanted nothing to do with it. I had it towed to the dealer, who found a failed steering unit. I told them about the accident and repair, and they replaced the steering unit ($750) but did it under the extended warranty and waved the $100 deductible so they wouldn't need to deal with the insurance company. (wrong, IMO, but whatever). It drove fine. But, less than a week later, again heading for Yuma (Golden Acorn), the steering failed again...so I towed it again to the dealer. Dealer takes a few days and diagnosis is the NEW, AFTERMARKET front left axle replaced by FALM is junk, has binding which makes the steering shut down. This time I demand to do it under insurance, which they cover ($900). 3 days later, again,, heading for Yuma (Buckman Springs), again, STEERING FAILURE! Towed back to dealer......this time they took nearly a week diagnosing the problem, probably because this time it was on their dime.....and found that the entire subframe assembly was bent in the accident! They ordered it ($2700) and made the repair, took a few phone calls but insurance covered it under the accident. ALL OF THIS could have been avoided if FIX AUTO LA MESA would have PROPERLY diagnose the damage caused by the accident. MORAL OF THE STORY? If you need accident repair and you want it done correctly, TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. read more

I waited a while before writing a review for this very purpose. I had Sid's do some work on my car after getting rear ended by a hummer in my 350z. When I initially saw the work I was pleased.. But as I've been going through the past work, I've noticed quite a few things that either weren't done properly, broken in the process of repairing, or completely neglected because it wasn't seen in plain sight. A few of these include my right rear wheel well splash guards improperly drilled, which I noticed cleaning my car one day, they tried drilling it at an angle because they put the wheel on before drilling the bottom hole, which looks horrible and the screws fell out. Where my spare tire is, the foam, which is now broken, was improperly secured and missed fasteners to keep it in place. Tools I kept in the trunk near the spare were dumped out in a bag where I kept a funnel and some ratchets (one of which I'm missing now). The taillights are below par compared to my previous ones, which I assume were super polished to hide the scuffs and scratches. There is paint residue in my trunk and the flanges on my rear trunk panel are broken and will not secure properly. (Still after the re-work) The license plate bracket it still messed up and was never replaced. Which is a part bought from Nissan. As weird as it sounds, I forgot to mention that after the accident, my right window wouldn't roll down. I notified the mechanic a day after the initial evaluation. Which I was told, I would have to prove that the accident caused it.... **October Rework Update** I had the car reworked to fix the problems mentioned above... Turns out my car is in worse condition again.. My left splash guard is damaged and still not against the body. My right window panel and handle are damaged, improperly installed, and scratched now. My car had an ashy substance all throughout my car, and the cars exterior was dirty upon pickup. They ordered the wrong parts and tried to have me drop the rental off for the extended time they would have to wait for the improper ordering of parts (3 extra days) I reset my trip odometer to zero when I dropped off the car, when I picked it up it read .9 miles, not sure what it needed to be test drove for.... (It didn't) THE WORST part of it all... I explained my busy schedule to the USAA representative Raymond. I told him I wouldn't be available to pick it up until Friday because I work full time and go to school full time.. He told me he would keep me updated and that customer satisfaction was of the up most importance. I had just got off work Thursday around 3:30 and had received a voicemail saying that the rental would not be paid for any longer and that I would have to take over the payments. The drive from work to the Enterprise was a 50 minute drive, a post inspection needed to be done, and I had to be taken back to Sids to pick up my car. So of course I was late for class and you can tell the maintenance done to the car was rushed so they wouldn't have to pay a measly $120.00 for the rental. Turns out, my car is in worse shape now than when I dropped it off originally. I'm always skeptical about mechanic shop a for this very reason, and now what am I to do? Give my car to them again and hope for the best? I would give negative stars if I could, and will definitely be adding this review to all platforms regarding their business. read more

Once again had the need for auto body work--the front end design on the Toyota Avalon has a long low overhang and far too often had come in contact with curbs, to the point that the underlining and grill was falling off. We took it to Sids (Now operating as Fix Auto La Mesa) and again we were wowed with the service ethic, the fairness and the kindness. The car was perfectly repaired and completed as promised. Initially I had a good feeling about Sid Fix. They ruined that with some malicious accounting behavior and employee dishonesty. My insurance claim was for repairs to the right front quarter panel. ONLY! A shop employee damaged my car and never took responsibility for it! In fact! I was blamed for the damage. Front drivers door window frame. I COULD NOT EVEN INTENTIONALLY CAUSE THE DAMAGE! The employee opened my drivers door and hit the frame on a machine which was actually still next to my car when I dropped it back off. He hit the door attempted to bend it back in place assuming I wouldn't notice it.. I left the shop with the assurance that they take care of it. So I left and returned the next day. The wrong side was ordered (Probably because they were thinking right side! Where the initial damage was done)....The correct part was ordered and installed. HOWEVER!!! instead of the shop paying for the damage THEIR! employee caused. They maliciously charged my insurance company... WTF! I got a notification of the charge and immediately had the payment stopped! My claim was for my Passenger side quarter panel not the drivers side window. Blatant misuse of the trust my insurance company placed in them... BLATENT! I'm disappointed in you Junior.. Will never use your shop again. read more

I have a pickup truck that had a damaged passenger side mirror. I had purchased the replacement mirror online thinking I could replace it myself. When that failed I called Fix Auto aka Sids Auto Body. They replaced the mirror in 15 minutes at a great price. I couldn't believe it. It was the most pleasant experience. Hit a raccoon getting onto the on ramp for the I-8 and had no other option than to hit a tree going between 30-60 mph! One lane onto the interstate and the animal was less than 10 yards from my car so I had no time to stop and nowhere else to go.. destroyed my radiator, condenser, and of course my bumper. Jaime and the guys were so helpful and nice! I felt so welcome in their business and enjoyed a tasty treat that they offered me! They updated me all throughout the process and kept in contact by phone and text every day. They finished my car 3 days early!! It looks so good like I never even had a problem. I enjoyed being around these guys and felt so respected during every interaction. I would recommend this place to everyone! Great workmanship, great customer service, very accommodating, responsive.. He told me when he would be calling with an estimate of the work that needed to be done as well as how long it would take for my car to be completed. I pulled up at SID's and was greeted with a very warm welcome and they made me feel very confident with trusting them with my repairs and insurance process. When I brought my car in to get fixed I was very clear that I wanted this place to do the work. Juan is the guy who helped me and he is an idiot. I told him three different times when I was there that I wanted them to order the part that needed to be repaired and do the work. I could tell he wasn't too bright so I called the following day and sure enough, he hadn't ordered the part. Apparently me saying "I want you to order the part and do the work'' was not clear enough for him. I spoke with the owner and he assured me that he would order the part and they would start when it arrived the following week. I followed up three days later to make sure they had in fact ordered the part. I spoke to the receptionist and she said she would look into it and call me back. She didn't. So I called again the next day and had to deal with Juan again. He assured me the part was ordered and I could bring my car in Monday. When I brought the car in, I spoke with Junior. I told him I was unsure if I was going to use insurance or pay cash. He told me that was not problem and he took photos for the insurance company if needed. When my car was ready I told Junior I was going with my insurance and he freaked out on me. He said I should have told him at the beginning (which I did) and refused to release the car to me saying it was going to take days to sort this out. If this was going to be an issue than he should have told me that from the start. When I got upset and told him I needed the car he told me if I wanted it I could pay and then he just walked away from me. This place has awful customer service. I was clear about my intentions from the start and no one told me it was a problem until it was too late. The project was delayed because Juan didn't listen to me, and I couldn't pick my car up on time because the owner didn't listen or communicate with me. Its easy to see why this place had to become a Fix Auto to stay in business. I regret ever giving Sid's my business in that and given how I was treated I will never use this or any other Fix Auto in the future. read more
