Caliber Collision - Body Shops Near Me - El Cajon, California

1. Manager, Matt, and Service Writer, Trevor, were not on the same page which resulted in a "bait & switch" situation involving my initial estimate and drop off. 2. Service Writer spoke down about manager repeatedly and said "don't listen to him" when confronted about situation #1. 3. Service Writer became threatening during situation #2 and said he would be "buttoning" up the car so I can take it elsewhere. 4. Service writer did not adequately communicate timelines. He would repeatedly tell me to pick up tomorrow, then tell me there was a delay. This occurred for 10 days. 5. Service Writer then quit communicating and responding to my texts, which was the preferred method of communication as stated by the shop. So a phone call ensued. 6. Phone call in situation #5 was for an update on picking up my vehicle. Service writer states fuses are blown (something unrelated to what we brought the vehicle in for). Tells me my car is old and it was a problem when we brought it in (vehicle is maintained with service records in a family that owns an automotive shop). I ask questions, service writer starts laughing at me. 7. As a result of situation #6, service writer informs me it looks like they'll have my car for longer and "will be in touch whenever it's ready". 8. I report situation #7 to insurance and they call the shop, twice, for an update and are hung up on or are put on hold for over 30min. This is per USAA property damage claims rep Jared Gomez. 9. Manager calls me to tells me something happened to the car and every fuse is blown. They need another few days. They refuse to let me come look at it at this point. 10. Manager drops off to my husband's mechanic shop with several issues involving acceleration. Technician runs a scantool and resets modules. Tech informs me that Caliber Collision jump started the vehicle "backwards" which resulted in fried fuses. 11. Upon entry of vehicle, we notice dashcam has been ripped from a direct-mount installation. Dashcam now is broken and requires replacement. 12. Per Bureau of Automotive Repar, it is against their laws to alter a customer vehicle without their consent. This includes the removal and uninstall of constant recording devices. Manager informed us via email it was shop policy. Manager could not provide any written literature or agreements I had signed stating that. Had the manager informed of us an existing shop policy in the beginning, the dashcam would've properly been removed. 11. Caliber collision broke a piece on my door panel during installation and tried to tape it together. Overall, we are very dissastisfied with this service and will do what we can to recommend friends and family seek another shop. I will be reporting this to the BAR. read more

Recently my car was hit and my insurance sent me to Caliber Collision and I have to say that I was blown away by the quality, but mostly the customer service. Rudy kept me up to date on the repair and had the car finished before the anticipated date. The quality of the repair was top notch, but what really blew me away is that since I live so far from the shop, I wasn't able to get to the shop before they close due to my work hours. Rudy was kind enough to drop my car off back to me at my home and I live almost 17 miles away from the shop. I brought my truck in for insurance body work repairs. The whole right side needed repairs so when they pushed back the initial estimated completion date, I was ok with that. After that, they kept pushing back the date for various reasons, one being that the right side mirror had gone missing. Another excuse they gave me was that they didn't have enough clear coating. Two and a half months later, I'm able to finally pick up my truck. But it wouldn't start! The battery terminal connectors were all scratched up and one was missing a screw so it was loose. I brought it to my mechanic to test the batteries and maybe get the screw replaced and they found a rag ON TOP OF THE TURBO! It was burned and smoking! If I drove my truck further than that, it would've caught the whole truck on fire. At first it wasn't going so good when it got the estimate (the 1st guy didn't call me back at all, like for a LONG min - I had to call them), but once I got in touch with Alfonso the process went smooth and quick as possible --- BUTTTT when I picked up my car there was NEW scratches AND a chip in the paint. They told me that they would fix it by repainting it, but that I would have to bring it back for "about" 2 days and they WOULDN'T be able to get me a replacement car in the meantime. I had work completed on my car at a dealership. The evening I picked up my car, I noticed my right, front panel had a gap at the door. The dealership did not seem to want to take responsibilty for this damage. I stopped by Caliber (they had completed beautiful work on my car in the past!) asking for help. Trevor was kind enough to look at my car and had Master Larry come over to confirm his diagnosis. Master Larry explained the damage had come from being improperly placed on the lift. He pointed out the loose clips and broken bracket under my car. He explained everything and showed me the damaged areas. If I could give this business 10 stars they deserve it. Took it in on Monday, got it back the next day! My 2005 Lexus went through 2 sand storms and 2 ice storms that beat the car up very badly. Pits were not just freckles. They were deep gouges and hundreds of chunks of paint taken out. My car is in good running condition, but time has taken its toll and those storms made me sick to see the serious damage. I used part of my stimulus check and hoped to get it a little better. I didn't expect it to be perfect. When I pulled in to pick up my car, I froze and had to catch my breath. I know. Sounds dramatic, but what I SAW was dramatic! The car looks like new. The hood looks like glass! Perfect match. The technician must have done more than I requested, the whole car was looking better than it had in years. I was humbled. Then I got inside and the entire inside was professionally deep cleaned. I drove to the nearest tire store and when I pulled in this young kid said, "Wow, did you just buy this car? Is it a 2021?" I rolled my eyes up at him and said, "It's an '05." He looked to his teammates and called out, "This is it! This is the car I want!" Me too. It's a keeper. If you want your car to look like shit then bring it here, if you don't, then take it somewhere else. My car looked better before I took it in to caliber in December right after I had hit whatever on the freeway. I feel like it looks like a piece of shit now. I had the bad luck to have to take my car 3 times in a year. The first 2 times service was great. This time was shit. First I took it in it took over a month to get the initial repairs done with minimal communication. They missed a lot. First I drive a white car, they painted the bumper a pinkish white and the bumper was not mounted properly. There was a gap in the fender molding and bumper. They missed a damaged ball joint. I took it back pointing out all this, they began repairs again. I picked it up again and noticed that the bumper is still not mounted properly and painted a shade too dark and they missed a spot on the bumper and got paint on the bumper molding. I pointed this out to dale and he made me feel as if my concerns regarding the workmanship and mounting were invalid. I took it to another body shop for a second opinion and they validated my concerns, that it was not mounted properly. I got the regional manager for Caliber involved and that was no help I was essentially forced to take my car back to the same shop that could not do the work satisfactorily the first 2 times. I even emailed communitymanager@calibercollision.com 3 times to no avail, I still have not heard from them. I picked my car up today. Bumper still needs to remounted, repainted, molding needs to be cleaned up and they still missed a spot. When I pointed out to the general manager dale he made me feel as if my concerns were not valid. I will be taking my car to another body shop to get the repairs corrected and will NEVER take a car to a caliber again, caliber failed to restore the rhythm to my life read more

Everything seemed as if it went smooth and they even had finished faster than originally expected. & I was ready to give them 5 stars as they requested. Until I noticed rims were missing. My car was returned in a rush and in the process of the repairs interior parts were broken. It was impossible for them to take accountability for what they broke. I just gave up the amount of times I had to drop off/leave my car for them to fix things instead they gave me the run around and still I was willing to write them a great review if they could turn my experience around.
