Called and got a quote that was VERY reasonable, called a lot more shops that only wanted to upsell…read moreme a "built" transmission because of what's been done to my truck. Sparks told me "look, it's been strong for the last 130k miles, all you need is a stock rebuild to get you another (at least) 120k miles" I don't tow anything with it, it has an intake and exhaust, no power adders leveled in 35's. It's not a monster truck doing heavy hauling. It's been about 2 months so far and it rejuvenated my love for the truck...now if I can afford the fuel bill to drive it But it came with a 3 year 36k mile warranty and they said if anything happens just bring it in and they'll take care of it. Oh, almost forgot. I had some upgraded parts and new parts to install and they did that for no extra charge when they put it back together .

Personally had them service my truck and add a deeper transmission pan because when I tow my temps get hot. They not only installed the part and serviced my transmission , they kept it at the same price they quoted me, not like some of these other shops that give you a quote and then it changes after service is completed. I was shown the oil and the crappy stuff that was in the oil which happened to be clutch material. So we decided to rebuild it. After that Joseph test drove it and it still had the issue, so they put it on the bench again and took it apart and found that the valve body wasn't working with the old housing so I guess that mine to be that one in a hundred housings the one so we decided to go ahead and get one off the shelf from either performance products Jegs or Summit so that's what we did and they put that in and I guess the one they put in had been put on Dyno for which is really a plus and has a three-year one million mile warranty, so I was jazzed about that! The transmission is awesome!!! Thanks to Ian, Joseph , and the rest of the crew at Advance Transmissions!! You guys ROCK!!!!

We've been…read morecoming to Julio and his family for a few years now for our everyday cars and once to rebuild our family's classic car. He did a quick preliminary diagnosis and gave me a fair quote for the alternator parts and labor. A few hours later, instead of just doing the expensive repair, he called me and explained that the alternator was actually fine -- the real problem was a wire that was shorting out and causing the symptoms. The repair ended up costing significantly less than expected because they were honest enough to fix the actual issue instead of replacing parts I didn't need. I also had them change the fluids and filters while it was there. He said it looked like my spark plugs needed changing as well. Everything was completed quickly and professionally. It's hard to find shops that are this honest and transparent these days. Highly recommend Total Care Transmissions for their integrity, communication, and quality work.

When I showed up to the place I got a bit nervous cause their spot seemed like a flee market of a group of mechanics all together and their own expertise areas, but also kinda amazing you can find all of there at the same spot. I called about a week and a half ago, around June 1st, to schedule a transmission service for my car. This shop was recommended to me by a family member and this shop did rebuild the transmission for my car about 8 months ago, so I figured I would give them repeat business. When I called, I asked to make an appointment for a Saturday morning and made it abundantly clear that I wanted to make sure someone would be at the shop because I was driving from over 30 miles away. They assured me a Saturday morning appointment would work. Well, Saturday the 10th rolls around. I wake up at 6:00am on my day off to make sure I get through caring for all the animals on the property and leave with enough time as to not keep the shop waiting. I show up exactly at 9am at the the shop, and nobody is there. I called the number I could find for the shop, and the lady that answered let me know she was "really sorry and forgot to cancel [my] appointment, but I did cancel all the other appointments I had on the calendar today." REALLY?! You remembered to call everyone you had scheduled EXCEPT for me, the one who was probably driving from the furthest distance?! AFTER I made that clear when I set the appointment?! Your apology did not put fuel in our vehicles, nor did it get back the hour and a half we spent driving, nor did it negate the fact that I had to wake up at the crack of dawn on my day off to accommodate YOUR weekend schedule. I will never give this shop my business again, nor will I ever recommend them. Their property looks like a junkyard, to boot. I may pay a little more elsewhere, but I'll get the service I expect (which is the bare minimum for customer service. I don't ask for a lot).

Pass on this place if you have a diesel or value good communication, honesty, or prompt service. I was from out of town and this was my only car so I needed fast service. When I called before I brought the car in, they assured me that I would get a diagnosis by the end of the day, and if not it would be the next morning for sure. Next afternoon, still didn't hear anything, so I called. They claimed that they had looked at it briefly. They said something about how they couldn't hear the fuel pump, so they would probably need to replace it. My car has no electric fuel pump, its mechanical. I guess that's what happens when you pick a mechanic that is unfamiliar with your car. It didn't really make sense to me anyway since the car ran great when started, just couldn't start after sitting. I'm not a mechanic and even I know that the glow plugs are the first thing you would check. They said that they would be working on it in about 40 minutes and I could expect a diagnosis by the end of the day. This sort of B.S. continued for a few more days, always claiming that my car was next in line. They never called me, I always had to call them and usually had to talk to their secretary who always seemed annoyed that I was trying to communicate with them. Luckily, I caused enough of a stink that they gave me back my keys and didn't charge me anything, which of course I didn't feel like I owed them anything. I think at this point, they just really wanted to get rid of me. I brought the car over to another place and they diagnosed it within an hour, just the fuse in the glow plug relay. I know that I should have brought my car to a Mercedes diesel specialist to begin with, so I'm not criticizing them for that. They could have been a lot more honest and communicated with me more. They wasted a lot of my time and ruined my vacation. read more

Seriosuly could not be happier with Import Auto Service and their team! This shop has been under new ownership after the majority of the bad reviews on here. Be sure to pay attention to when the reviews where posted after Chriss took over ownership! Trust me! you thank me for pointing that out! This is THE ONLY place i will take my 2007 BMW 525i. Chriss is by far the most honest and knowledgeable mechanic/owner i have ever had work on any of my vehicles. Long story short, in the beginning of a long list of issues i was having with my vehicle, i was EXTREMELY dissatisfied with the BMW dealership service and repairs, so i brought my car down to IAS, same day i called. Chriss and his team took a quick look at the issue (dead pulley near alternator) and told me exactly what was needed to fix it, THEN he brings up the retail page of the parts he needed to order, shows me exactly what he was being charged for the parts, then just starts discounting labor costs left and right! After that repair, he informed me of other issues with my vehicle, which i could not afford to fix at the time (BMW repairs being quite expensive and all) So Chriss gives me the run down on how to space out the repairs so that i could afford it, telling me exactly how long i could go on certain things (brakes, rotors, alternator etc..) before they absolutely needed to be replaced. So we set up a schedule basically of when i would need to come in to get the issues taken care of... Seriously could not think of how a mechanic could be more honest than that. They are straight forward and BY FAR cheaper and have FAR SUPERIOR customer service when compared to the dealer. read more

Import Auto Service is AMAZING!!! When I hit a curb in my 2007 Mercedes C280, it threw off my alignment and broke my cruise control. I took my car to the Mercedes Dealership in Kearny Mesa thinking it would be a quick and relatively inexpensive fix. The Mercedes Dealership quoted $1,700+ for the alignment and to replace a bent lower control arm and left front strut mount. I tried to bargain with the Mercedes Dealership but they said the best deal they could give me was $1,600... that is when I decided to get a second opinion and boy am I glad I did!! My friend's family has been taking their Mercedes to Import Auto Service for years and they highly recommended their work. I called Import Auto Service to get a quote over the phone... they said they could do all of the work that the Mercedes Dealership said my car needed for $1,000. I decided to take it in, thinking saving $700 would be pretty nice. After I dropped the car off, not more than an hour passed before the owner called me to tell me that none of the things that the Mercedes Dealership had said was wrong with my car was actually wrong!! He actually thought that I was some sort of mystery shopper trying to see if they would rip me off. It turns out that the only thing wrong with my car was the alignment - which Import Auto Service fixed for $100!!!!!!! Now I don't take my car anywhere but Import Auto Service!! I get all of my routine maintenance done by them and have recommended them to all of my luxury car driving friends! I absolutely trust them and they do very high quality work! I'd put off getting my SUV fixed because I knew it was going to sock my finances fairly hard. I asked friends, family, facebookers and co-workers if they "knew a guy" or even a guy who had a friend who knew a guy- I was desperate to make sure I took it to someone who'd give me a square deal: no shenanigans or mystery ailments under the hood. Well, I pushed my luck and before too long it wouldn't even start to drive Point A to B, so I took to the internet to see who was close to me. Import Auto was on page 1 of search and when so many 5 Star reviews jumped off their page my first thought was to assume they'd figured out a way to manipulate yelp reviews. I called them despite deep rooted reservations because I liked their pictures, at least get a sense of who they were over the phone. To make a (very) long story short, taking my SUV to Chris & Tim was, no exaggeration, the best auto repair shop choice I've made in 25 years, maybe ever.They're genuine, they don't sugar coat the bad news or build up the good news, they tell it like it is and they get the job done quick. One of the guys told me in conversation as I settled up that this shop was their retirement; I've got my fingers crossed, I hope they don't retire from retirement any time soon because I'll be bringing every squeaky break, oil change and loud clang to Import Auto as long as possible. Once again absolutely fantastic service. My 2003 VW Passat car battery decided to die while I was out and about on Saturday. I took my car to one of those auto parts places to test the battery and the clerk couldn't even find my battery to test it. I knew I should have gone to IAS in the first place. Luckily it was a Saturday they were open. The mechanic on duty was so nice and polite, even though he was the only one there and it was busy busy busy.(Note to cranky customer, Chill! didn't you see how busy this one and only person in the shop was?) I had to come back and get my car later because they had to get the correct battery for my car but I appreciate they did that instead of just sticking some generic piece of junk in there to get me in and out. I might have paid a little less at one of the chain "auto service" places but every time I go there something gets damaged on my car, and they try to sell me on service I don't need! Nope I'm sticking with IAS, the prices are competitive, the service is always above and beyond, and most of all I trust them. read more

import Auto service via Yelp yet the guy finally responded with the following quote one day after.with a whooping total of $710 just for three spark plugs and one coil 2 hours service I searched around and look for parts I found the Ford auto part had it for $140 and I found the spark plugs at Ford also for $24 so figure $164.00 and so and a labor charge of $546 for a total of $710. these guys are a scam watch your pocket these guys will try to overcharge you for services that you need on your vehicle that should never cost that much, that's four times the regular cost for parts and labor.when you can visit a shop for 4 times less.buyer beware I declined their services, their rates are ridiculous one should never be charging outrageous rate for something so small and 2 hours is normally $75 an hour not $222 an hour plus $200 in parts ridiculous buyer beware this place is fraud. I had another Pro Macanice do it for $350 and may car is like new. Thank goodness I didn't use this shop. read more

My name is Allan Cyr. I work at Glenwood Spgs Ford in Glenwood Spgs Colorado. We have a customer that recently purchased a pre-owned Explorer from us and had a mechanical issue in Santee. After talking with the customer over the phone, I determined it was most likely a battery. But what can I do when we are 750 miles away? After calling no less than a half dozen repair shops who wouldn't help, I called Chris at Import Auto. He sent one of his technicians to where she was stranded and got her up and running in no time. AND AT NO CHARGE!!! I have been in retail auto sales since 1993 and I know that times are changing, and we need to do what ever it takes to earn customers business. I would say Chris and Import Auto are WAY ahead of any curve with customer relations like that. You guy's all deserve a BIG high five. read more

I had a problem with my front right Window regulator or motor on my X5 4.8is. And mister Imad (owner) was very helpful and professional and in very timely manner (30 minutes ,, WOW !!!!! ) fixed my problem and i was ready to go. I did not even had the time to drive my loaner Dodge Challenger i got :) and matter of fact i did not had to pay for my loaner car because his business is linked to Enterprise in Santee and because car was fixed in 30 minutes i just took it back and woolah i had my beast ready to go to San Diego Down Town and not worrying for TINT ticket, because window was working and responding on time :) Thank you Imad and Thank you Sonya at the reception making everything easy and understandable with Car warranty and rental company. read more

I love how thorough this guy is. I brought my Dodge van in for an oil change on a recommendation from a friend. He changed the oil and looked over everything else. He found two items that needed to be addressed, rear brakes and a small coolant leak. I passed on both thinking he was exaggerating the need. I had him do the brakes at the next oil change and found out he means what he says. They were all thin and one was no thicker than a few pieces of paper. He even pulled the part that was leaking coolant to show me. Once again he meant it, I was lucky the piece of plastic didn't break leaving me on the side of the road. I'm going to continue letting Tim take care of my van because I like the quality of his work and I know I can trust his word. read more

I have a 2002 Honda civic and it was on it's last leg. Now a days mechanics are hard to trust and I've taken it to 4 different shops and I still had problems. I finally turned to my dad for help and immediately he referred me to Import Auto Service. I was very skeptical at first but I'm glad that I took my car there because Chriss and Tim fixed everything and made sure my car was running 100%. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Great Alternative to the Dealer - - 2010-09-08 If you want to save money, have your car repaired right, and see what premium service is all about take your car to Import Auto Service. Ive taken my Range Rover to the dealer too many times and after getting outrageous quotes for a repair I decided to shop around. Not only were these guys much better priced, they also worked extremely hard to get and keep my business. MUCH BETTER SERVICE!! I like how the mechanic shows you what is wrong and why. Best car mechanic I've been to! Was having trouble figuring out what was wrong with my BMW, and lost a lot of money taking it to other repair shops like Midas (who claim to be experts). I took it to Midas and they said they couldn't do it cause they didn't have the tools but when I called Chris he told me to come in and Tim figured out the problem and fixed it in about 5 minutes without any tool or machine. It's difficult to find a good, honest mechanic these days. Well I can tell you that these guys - Chris and Tim - are great. I've worked on cars since I was a kid in the 70's so I can usually tell when a mechanic is trying to oversell themselves. Chris and Tim were both honest and upfront with me. They didn't try to sell me more than I needed. They fixed the problem at a price that I thought was quite reasonable. I have no qualms about recommending them highly. read more

It's hard find a good mechanic. The crew at Import Auto Service is incredible! Blake did a full front axel replacement on my Subaru. He started at 2:22pm and was finished at 2:56p.m. At the same time Tim dropped a transmission out of a jaguar in the same 30 minutes. The price was right, the guys love their work, and it reflects in their automobiles.. 500 hp jaguars and Mercedes Benz... I recommend them for all of your import needs.... read more

Awesome place! Took my son's car in for repairs and while there mentioned a problem I was having on my Honda. They did a "temporary fix" (for free) and then ordered me the part. When I went back to have the part installed they knew me by NAME even though they had only met me the one time. AND, they didn't charge me any labor for installing the part. Jason the owner was easy to talk with, I scheduled my service. I called to tell them I would be late and the lady who answered was very welcoming and easy going. Even though I was delayed, and they were very busy they took the time to hear my concerns, go over the cost and what was recommend and gave me a straight and fair price on the spot. When the service was almost complete Jason called and said we could do another service to help the car feel less sluggish. That cost was reasonable too, so I said let's do it. I never felt price gouged and everyone at the shop seemed sincere and honest. That's refreshing, because the dealerships will try and price gouge you. I have a 2020 Subaru Outback Onyx. I always do my research, and unfortunately my assessment turned out to be correct even before Allman completed their diagnostics. Mike at Allman spent a great deal of time walking me through different scenarios and options, providing detailed estimates for each. I also requested additional estimates, including a full engine replacement, so I could make a fully informed decision. While their estimate was less than dealership service departments, it was slightly higher than another independent shop. After researching the difference, I found it came down to Allman using OEM parts rather than cheaper aftermarket parts made overseas. I don't use cheap parts on my vehicles, so that made the decision easy. Once I felt fully comfortable, I chose Allman and I'm glad I did. Mike kept me informed throughout the process, and my Jeep was back on the road even earlier than estimated. Thank you, Allman Family Auto, for the honesty, transparency, and quality work.

To their credit, once I called them out and explained the ongoing problem, they agreed to take another look at my car. Upon re-evaluation, they acknowledged that the initial repair did not resolve the root issue. They worked on the vehicle again and ultimately fixed the original problem at no additional charge. I appreciate that they took responsibility and made the effort to correct the situation. While my initial experience was frustrating and felt misleading, I do recognize their willingness to make things right after the fact. I hope moving forward they improve their diagnostic process to prevent similar issues for other customers. Updating my review to reflect both the initial experience and the resolution.

This might be lengthy, but these guys deserve every word and a few minutes of my time…read more 2007 honda civic si 2 door coupe with 80K on the odometer. I was saving it for my son when he turned 16. Now he's 16, but the problem is that he's the kind of kid that I don't have full confidence in when it comes to using a clutch and stick. Anyway, I (after looking around for about a year at new civics) decided, "Screw this. I'm not taking on a new car payment for the stuff they're offering. My '07 is awesome, it just needs a little tweak here and there. I'd rather restore what I've got for between $5-10k all in." The first thing was the clutch, because a mechanic at Shell f'd it up a few years back. So I buy the exedy racing clutch on Amazon and start hunting for someone to install it. Just for giggles, I went to Honda in Kearney Mesa (San Diego) to get a quote. Labor alone? $2,652 with a timeline of 24-36 hours. Yeah. Right. I'm sure. Literally TWO blocks away, I stumbled upon Car Tune after some online prowling. Anyway, I found them, and I KNEW I struck gold the second I pulled up. I hadn't even MET anyone yet. All I had to see were the cars they were working on. Fully 80% of the cars in the bay and parking area were what would be considered "street racers," and I know from living in San Diego how SERIOUS these guys are about their cars. They DON'T mess around. They're sort of like the car version of Harley Davidson fanatics when it comes to motorcycles. That alone put a smile on my face. Second thing I noticed? It may seem like a trivial issue to most people, but because I'm in the restaurant business for over 30 years, I notice stuff like this. But here it is. Every guy working there was nearly SPOTLESS. I don't mean they were decked out in matching uniforms or anything. They were just wearing regular clothes, but everything they were wearing had a MINIMAL amount (if anything at all) of dirt, grease, grime, oil and everything else that comes with the automotive trade. In other words, PROFESSIONAL. The garage itself was basically the same way. Think about it. If you went into the hospital to have your BODY "tuned up" and the doctor walked into the room with blood stains all over his outfit how much confidence would you have about his professionalism? Anyway, those 2 factors made a really good first impression on me. After telling them my problem and letting them know I've got the part, they quote me $1,600 LESS than honda, and at least $200 less than other places I had called. Plus, they gave me a 10 hour timeline as opposed to 1-2 days. They came in well under the deadline, and my 8th gen is running like it's brand f'n new. There's more to that clutch story,but you understand the broad strokes so onto the next fix. The air conditioner. Sooo, of course I pull up to my new friends one morning after dropping my son off at his job a few blocks away. Once again, I explain what's going on to one of the guys who's outside and he tells me he isn't "..quite sure what the exact # is, but I think we charge around $250.." That's fine with me, because I've had others quote me figures closer to $400, like Jiffey Lube who charges me $90 for an oil change. Keep those 2 #s in mind because they're relevant. So, I go home and call the next day to make an appointment. When I show up, I find out that the other guy was waaaay off on his #s because it wasn't $250....it was $135. And, once again, I was told it would take about an hour and a half. About 30 minutes in, one of the guys mentions that my oil is low. I was getting ready for an oil change in a few weeks anyway so I said "Go ahead, whatever you think is best." They said it'd be $35 extra. So, air conditioner fixed and blowing air colder than a witch's tit, and an oil change cost me $170 plus tax, and it was done perfectly. Jiffy Lube would have whacked me for 5 bills and taken all day long to do it. Car Tune did it in 50 minutes which is 40 minutes less than the time they quoted me. One other thing and then I'm out. It's not just that THEY'RE good, it's that birds of a feather flock together. In other words, they don't fix headliners, but when I asked them about it they instantaneously knew exactly who I should call, which again is the mark of a pro in any line of work. I need some body work done. 20 years of little dents dings etc. They'll know someone. I eventually want to paint it. They'll know someone. It's people like this that make a difference. There's a line from the movie Rounders that comes to mind. "You can shear a sheep many times, but skin him only once." The team at Car Tune CLEARLY understands that principle.

Even listing that the *Windshield nozzle was broken off. Haha. That proved to me that they were good at what they do and looking at everything. After going to Firestone 3 times, with no solution to a intermittent brake light on the dash coming on and then the ESP light, they solved it. Turns out the level was sticking on the brake fluid and I needed a flush. But, they found a bigger problem with bad shocks. I also had almost no oil! WTH? I had just had a complete service 5 months before. Keep in mind that I had been back to Firestone 2 times after. I don't work, so not alot of driving except to pick up donations for Animal Rescue. All local. And local errands. Sharpe was very honest, even with the repair quote. Instead of saying you need to fix it all, they advised what should be done now. They provided a very detailed Diagnostic and actually gave it to me with all the comments. I asked about the next item, brakes, and they gave me a full quote and breakdown. *By the way, ordered 2 new Windshield fluid nozzles. They said pop by will install them. No Charge. May not seem like a big deal to some. But, it was to me and they pulled a mechanic out to do it. Thank you!
