My experience was great from beginning to end. They worked closely with my insurance, AAA, and me and kept us well-informed. They knew about my car and my available insurance before I even called to set up the initial appointment. The initial appointment itseldf did not take long. I didn't sit there long, and their lounge is nice and has water, coffee, and a restroom. Tania Rose and her team were very nice and took great care of me and my car, which was on the brink of being a total. But when they found out that I really wanted to keep the car, if possible, rather than totaling it, they really worked to keep the costs below the total threshold. They were even able to repair something that they thought would need to be replaced, saving $500 and bringing the amount safely below the total threshold. I was often called and given a very detailed description of the repair process and what would happen next. In the end, my beloved car was ready 3 days early, and was even better than new! Somehow, someone managed to remove unrelated scratches that I was absolutely not expecting to be fixed. This, along with the fairly extensive work they were contracted to do- and they even detailed my car, too! I am a very happy customer. No one wants to be rear-ended by a dump truck on the way to work, but this Caliber Collision location made the repair process virtually painless. read more

My car got side swiped in a parking lot. My insurance gave me several options for repair shops. After checking with 4 I ended up going to Caliber. Best decision I could have made! Michael and Dale made it all such a smooth process! I didn't feel like I was being talked down for being a woman, which other places made me feel as if I didn't understand what they were saying. Not only that but they kept me updated with the progress. I never felt rushed when I called with any questions and they were so accommodating in every way! I was referred to Caliber Collision by my insurance agent. Starting off, the receptionist was very courteous, kind and knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions as this was my first time dealing with a body shop. It was amazing to work with this team, especially Dale (manager) and Trevor. From the start of my experience with this location communication was bad. The original claim adjuster I was working with got sick the day after I dropped my vehicle off. So I was given a new guy. I had to keep calling to get updates and he wouldn't ever know anything when I would call. He would state he would call me back by a certain time later that day and never would call. He did this multiple times. They had my van for 3 weeks. When I went to pick it up the back bumper hadn't been fixed. They scrambled to tell me that wasn't in the claim even though it was. They again took the van and fixed the rear bumper. When I picked my van up there was a rattling noise under the front hood. A week and a half after I picked up my van from them the hood came open when driving and smashed my windshield. There's no way to prove they broke anything because the original damage wasn't from the front. I never had a rattling in the front of my van before I dropped it off To them. They of course will claim they didn't do anything to make this happen but the timing seems very odd. Stay away from this location. From bad communication, to not paying attention to claim details, to almost injuring me because of their negligence. read more

I was brought to this shop threes my insurance. I was the middle car in a three car accident. Anyhow they worked in a timely manner. I was so happy to have my truck back . Since I didn't have for a month. Anyhow I jumped in it and pulled out the lot with out walking it. When I got home I noticed some of the panels weren't installed 100 percent. Easy fix thou I did myself. Also my light bar was uninstalled so I had to rewire. Then I noticed they replaced a tire and now My ride is not smooth seeing the other tires are worn more . Guess I'm buying tires. Still on seeing my truck looked good . A week or so went buy and I notice paint peeling on one side. No scratches our anything just paint peeling. Bummer. You can see here due to my neglect one of my kids scratchedthe other side so at least it's matching now. I'm just saying there good but there paint Isn't. I've gotten better paint jobs else we're. Yes my kids our crew scratched my car but it shouldn't peel, chip like that. Anyhow I'm recommending this shop but due your walk around and check the paint. It's not like what the dealer paints it. It's not as think and chips easy. Kinda of a bummer seeing before the accident my truck was pristine. read more

We needed work done on our Nissan Altima, and wanted good work done. Caliber came up highly recommended and had good reviews. Our car was hit in the side, with damage to the driver and passenger door, the frame and back bumper. The car was returned to our home (we didn't have to pick it up = a plus), and it looked new and beautiful again. The window seemed as if it was acting up a few days later and they had us bring it in. They were very kind and apologetic about the inconvenience, but everyone was very helpful, courteous, and went the extra mile to give us outstanding service! The window issue was minor, they washed the car and sent us on our way. Good, friendly, awesome service. **6 weeks start to finish for alligment and bumper repair**. This will be a bit long but will explain why 1 star. 2005 GMC 2500 1sep my truck was involved in a collision. Caliber was recommended by my insurance agency. 5sep they looked at my truck and ordered parts. 18 sep they finally began "work" on my truck. 13 oct my truck was finally "done" PROBLEMS. 3 trips to 2 different alligment shops. And the steering is still not right. Dave Perez couldn't find the tire for my truck, after 5 weeks, I made 3 phone calls and found a matching tire. Locally in under 20 mins. They didn't even go get it installed. So after picking up my truck, I had to go and have the tire installed. REWORK!! They had to redo the bumper after they scratched it. Alligment after the 2nd trip to the alligment shop I swung by and test drove the truck, with Dave. Truck still pulled to the left. More rework. 3rd trip, to alligment shop and more parts ordered. New abs sensor wireing was not installed correctly. Had to tell them twice to reroute it correctly. I was quoted 2 weeks for repairs NOT!!! All in all I'm throughly disgusted with the whole experiance. The only positive thing I have to say is staff is very friendly, and returns calls promptly. The text updates are a nice touch as well. My review is based on an unfortunate experience my friend had with this shop in El Cajon on Johnson. My friend is an older gentleman with lots of life experience, including service in the armed forces. He chose Caliber because he had good service with one of their shops before he moved to S. D. county. As he shared with me how he was treated at this shop, I became concerned. His car sustained minor damage from a side swipe. It should be an easy fix but his insurance company said his car was not worth it and refused to pay. He went to pick up his car but to his surprise they had already dismantled it. He told me that they had not asked his permission to do this. They did not communicate with him. Then they took their sweet time putting it back together so he could drive it home. This caused him to have to extend the time for his rental car. They told him he wouldn't be able to get his car unless he paid them $ 150 out of pocket. I presume they were trying to charge him for taking it apart and putting it back together. What I think should have been done was to offer him an estimate and check with his insurance company before beginning to dismantle it. Then they would have found that his insurance wouldn't pay and he could be advised to get another estimate. It appeared that they were anxious to get his money and they jumped the gun. When he told me this, I advised him not to pay the $150. He decided to get advice from an attorney. It looked very much like he was about to become victim to unscrupulous business tactics. When he finished telling me about what happened I read some reviews. Many of them raised a red flag. I decided to write a Google review. The next day when he went to pick it up, they changed their tune. They didn't charge him anything and they got the car back together quickly. I'm not sure if my first review helped him or if possibly they found out he contacted an attorney. But whatever it was, I'm glad that they quit monkeying around and did the right thing, but not without being pressured to straighten up. read more

Rip off artist. As my mother would say, "Something in the milk ain't clean!". I brought my car in to have the bumper repaired. They kept the car almost a week and returned it to me the same way I gave it to them. When I picked the car up, it appeared to be fixed. The next morning the bumper was dangling still. I took it back and the promised to put a whole new bumper on the car. Again, I go to pick it up, looks good. Within the week the bumper was hanging again. I took a closer look to find that the so called "new" bumper was not new at all. I saw the same old glue residue and familiar markings on this same broken bumper. So My 1st thought was insurance fraud! Then I went back and insisted that the work be doneol somewhere else. They talked me into staying with the company and letting another branch cover it. I hope this time they are able to get the job done right. At this point I need to ask about lost wages. read more

Well let me start off by saying the work on my vehicle was good, although after that is where we fall into problems with their dishonesties. Joseph Payne their manager received an email from our insurance company waiving our deducible 18 days prior to us picking up our vehicle, although when we came in in 18 days later ( after email received ) they charged our deductible in order to pick our vehicle, so we paid as anyone would only later to find out our deducible was waived. This company charged us when they were not supposed to! My concern is how many more people that have used them to fix their vehicle and have been cheated out of their money this is fraud on their behalf we come to your place already in distress of being in accident and then to be robbed by our expense. This is truly sad! People if you have used this company please get ahold of your insurance to see if this has happened to you. read more

Worse experience i have had so far, i highly recommend not going to this shop, i was referred by a previous costumer who said it was something to look into, when i would call the receptionist, she was not helpful, customer service wasn't present, i should of known better when she stated that once the car is being evaluated that there would be a fee to have it taken out before completed. so clearly they have ran into problems before. then once my car was there , there was alot of push back on the date. every week seemed to be the next week and then there was missing parts. i understand if there is a back order but there is no follow up, im starting to believe that there is no order having been placed. instead of returning the car due to many other problem have risen with the car that wasn't there before hand. to keep it short and simple i believe this company is not at a 5 star status i don't believe they should even be a one but they did have one person that had stepped up and tried to help despite all the other craziness. other then that i recommend that you don't waste time and money and go to a different mechanic shop. read more

Bumper repair was not done properly and then I had to take it back again. White paint was over sprayed on the black parts of the vehicle and lights. After awhile the lift gate they replaced had a seal that was damaged around the brake light and they refused to repair it. They said they just moved the parts from my original lift gate and didn't replace them. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

The work done on my car was done very well. That is the only thing that went well with this experience. Do NOT depend on this location to do what they say they will do in regards to calling you, or keeping you informed or....... having your vehicle ready when they say they will have it ready. First, I was told that I would receive a call when the insurance claim was approved. That never happened. If I had not called this Caliber location I would still be waiting. I was told I would be updated frequently with progress reports so that I would know when my car would be ready to pick up. Didn't happen. Again if I had not called them I would not have known. When I dropped my car off I specifically asked about a timeline because I would be renting a vehicle and was told "Thursday afternoon or Friday morning certainly." Just to be safe I rented through Friday. Well, the car was NOT ready Thursday NOR Friday morning and it was doubtful that it would be ready Friday afternoon. That meant I had to extend my lease WHICH was an extra expense on the rental. There are other Caliber locations where family and friends have had great experiences. If the need arises I will use Caliber again, just not the El Cajon location. read more

After receiving car back we noticed that the paint on rear of car is splattered and there is a finger print smudge on top of car in the clear coat. She has been trying to take it back for over a month with no response. Was told they had to specially make the paint but we haven't heard a word in over a month. read more

After a week and a half of them having my car the second I turn my car on my entire door is rattling. I go back in and it because they didn't put a part on right and they don't even have the part for it. They have to of had to turn the car on and off several times within the week and a half and no one happened to notice it? I then get asked if I turned in my rental car already so they can keep my car again. I got a call at 10:30am. I picked my car up at 4pm and still not done. This place is horrible, 4th time I have been back to fix fender bender body work. I had warranty issues which the manager tried to pass off as wear and tear. It took 4 weeks for them to get the new parts, which should have been replaced in November, the last time I was here. Working in the service industry I can really appreciate when someone is helpful and genuinely inviting and nice. I originally was being helped by Alex, when I came back in to verify the estimate Rob took over. Both very pleasant men to work with. Rob was especially nice and helpful. He worked with me to set an appointment and called to update me on my cars progress. My Blue Beauty is just as beautiful as before the accident (actually probably better).
