The Calhoun's chicken used to be a "go to favorite" but it has run it's course. No longer comes with melted Monterey Jack cheese & the BBQ sauce appears to have changed. This was a great dinner choice for us. We were there on their half priced burger day and I picked the hickory bbq burger. It was fantastic and their burgers are huge. I also recommend the red, white, and blue shortcake. We were also surprised about our bill because we had an appetizer, our entrees and dessert for $40. If you love a good burger, you must pick Calhouns. Also want to give a shout out to their awesome staff. They were very friendly and didn't come to our table every 5 mins and our waitress always made sure our glasses were filled. The only thing we had to ask for was extra napkins. read more

I love this place, always have, but when me and my SO came for lunch we had to wait 25 minutes, we waited 15 minutes and then got curious and asked why we couldn't sit at the more than 10 open spots, the guy at check in said those spots are "closed" we asked if we could just sit at the bar(which also was very open) he said that was fine and as we sit, a couple that came in about 10 minutes after us got seated in one for the "closed" spots... later the bar tender told the man at check in its open seating, and that they in fact are not "closed seating" we waited about another hour just to get our food, which was decent. Sadly, the bartender was the only good thing about this place, we gave her about a $13 tip in thanks, but after this I may not go back to the Pigeon Forge Calhoun's. I also feel the need to add that the couple next to us waited half an hour to receive a raw steak... the bartender should be the manager in my opinion, speaking of the manager, she seemed to be walking around aimlessly, barely helping. Food was OK. I got the naked wings with buttermilk ranch as my sauce and received 8 wings, a small cup of ranch dressing and 2 sticks of celery for $8.95. Very disappointing if you ask me. My husband ordered the BBQ platter and said it was good. Things would have been better if the bar tender had actually paid attention to us considering we were sitting at the bar around 2:00pm with only 3 other tables besides us. There were several other servers coming and going. We waited 15 minutes just get my husband a refill on his beer and she never refilled my water the entire duration of us being there. I've been to the Calhouns in Gatlinburg and was floored by the great service and delicious food. However, this location was subpar. The wait staff was just here and there, not really paying much attention to us or the other patrons. The food took way too long to come out, and it was early afternoon so it was not that busy. The food was so-so. I asked for my burger to be well done, but it was actually sort of burnt, and crispy instead of juicy. May not be visiting this location again and just opt for the busier one in downtown Gatlinburg next time. read more

My husband and I just ate at this restaurant for the first and LAST time. The food was okay but not good enough for me to recommend. Our waiter was exceptionally nice and attentive. No complaints about him at all. The bartender on the other hand was not only a liar, but apparently a thief. My husband put his wallet on the bar after paying for his drink and forgot to put it back in his pocket. He noticed it missing within a couple of minutes. He walked back to the bartender and asked if she had seen it, and of course she denied it. However he then went to the hostess' desk and she sent him to the restaurant manager. The manager had his wallet and said someone had handed it to the bartender. The same bartender who had denied seeing it. We are thankful to have the wallet back, unfortunately it was missing a few hundred dollars. Even his police officer's badge in the wallet didn't deter the thief. Seems strange to me she told my husband she had not seen his wallet but had already given it to the manager. You would think the manager would have offered to give him a dessert, but all she could say was there was nothing she could do about it. There's not much I can do about it either, except never go there again and discourage everyone that takes the time to read this post to take your business elsewhere. I despise thieves! read more

We're from out of town, so this was our first time ever eating at Calhoun's. The restaurant was very nice & clean. Our waiter, Marcus, was very nice & did a wonderful job taking care of us. Most of the food was decent. The fried green tomatoes were very tasty & my husband said he liked the wet wings. He also liked his beer, which came from a local micro brewery. I, on the other hand, didn't enjoy much of anything about the pulled pork nachos I ordered. The meat tasted greasy & didn't have much flavor. The nachos were covered in bbq sauce, beans, a little sour cream, & fresh cut jalapenos, yet all you could taste was grease. We told the waiter that we weren't fans of the nachos & he told his manager. The manager came over & said she would take them off the bill & also offered to get me something else to eat. We were not expecting that to happen & would not accept any other food, because it really wasn't necessary. read more

Great service, atmosphere and Ribs! I've been to Clahoun's "on the River" and out West before and this one is as good! The Ribs are Great! Not as good as "Portillo's" in Chicago but a close second. About 12 of us spent our hard earned money at this place, thinking that it would be great. It ended up being Awful. I had to try the "Best Ribs in America" . I must say, they were as dry as a stick of Beef Jerky. Very disappointing. My sister had the shrimp which was no good either. Might as well get shrimp at Long John Silvers. The service was awful also. They could have cared less. Not sure who is giving this place high marks. Whoever it is must never go out anywhere or is used to the Walmart Deli. Anyway, the McRib sandwich at McDonalds has better ribs than Calhouns's. read more

Pulled up to the restaurant opened the door I could just smell the bGot out and walked in and was greeted very well and quickly sat. I was surprised how nice this placed looked, very nice well kept. I could not wait to eat. Server came and greeted and took my drink and food order. Food took a little while but was ok a because I could see they were busy. It's an open kitchen and can see the ticket screen and it was full so no complaints there. When came out is when I was disappointed. I ordered the full rack of ribs and it came with two sides. I got the fries and Mac and cheese. Fries were hot and fresh and so was the Mac and cheese. But my ribs were some what over cooked I would say the least. They have posted out side the best ribs in America, which is why I chose here and I love ribs, so when you say that then it for sure should be. I have had better ribs from Bubba Gump a seafood restaurant than here. They were hard to get them apart and I really could not taste much but char.
