We were gonna go to E l Xampanyet but the line was ridiq so went here since it's on my list as well and it's nearby but there was also a long wait unfortunately. This spot is a hole in a wall too, Tapas places are typically small around here especially the classic ones so expect a long line, we waited for another 20 minutes and we decided to check out the next one on our lists snd hopefully to go back to this spot next time. Never got to try the food yet sadly.

    Line up early.

Pretty much a place of legend in Barcelona. It's a seafood bar where you belly up and then tell them what you can't eat or don't prefer. Then they kinda make you what is fresh today. If you have some hard diet requirements, don't even bother coming here. They do what they can but if you don't eat a lot of seafood, just skip coming here. Everything is pretty great but there are some standouts: like the scallops with foie gras and lentils (and the lentils were the star there). The issue is, if you go, you can't really order it as there is no menu per se so you get what they can do. Let go...it's fine. You'll want to bring a small party two (maybe maybe three people max) and line up early (say 30 mins before opening times) to try to get one of the first spots at the bar. Bigger parties can make a reservation, but you'll be seated at a table in the back room, the magic is at the bar seats where you can see all the action and interaction with the chefs.

A lovely setting with stone walls and a long tapas bar. We had reservations, so were seated at a table in the back and had tapas for dinner. Many people will sit at the bar for a few drinks and tapas before going out to dinner. Everything we ordered was good, especially the clams and tuna tartar. Please refer to the attached photo to see all of the items we tried. I'd recommend all of those items.

For me, my favorite meal in Barcelona. A genuine Catalin experience, Not fancy. This is mostly a sit at counter place and there will be a line of you do not show up before opening. People behold you in line are standing behind you enjoying a beverage and the show. You will still feel loved and appreciated. It's basically worth the wait. The food is centered around seafood. There is no dinner menu. You are queried. How hungry are you? Say "very". Do you like Seafood? Shellfish? Yes, Yes? (If answer is no, you might consider McDonald's) The quality of the food is great. Standouts were the shellfish and the Spanish tortilla it's not cheap. Maybe $80 PP. It's worth it.

This restaurant came highly recommended by someone we know, and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. There was already a long line forming before the doors even opened--thankfully, we were seated right away and didn't have to wait. I would definitely return if I'm ever back in Barcelona.

I was recommended this place by a study abroad student and it didn't disappoint. No menu. All vibes. Service was on top of it. This place will always be a stop when in Barcelona. After conversations with the host, he found out I was Filipino and introduced me to all the Filipino cooks there. Super friendly and attentive staff. The wait was worth it.

Absolutely amazing, informative and super friendly staff! The best food ever! The food was fresh, and prepared well and quickly. We enjoyed the oysters, rib eye, fried little prawns and grilled larger prawns. Thinking about revisiting for the crawfish and monkfish. There was a little wait for a seat at the bar but it was well worth it. This place will always have a special place in my heart!!

Our absolute favorite spot in Barcelona. Go and wait for a seat at the bar. It is the best experience. Tapas are incredible. There is no menu. They ask what you don't like and order for you. Trust them!! Everything is sooo good. Fried artichokes, pan, clams, I could go on. The atmosphere is fun. They are all so happy behind the bar, smiling and joking around. I had a grin on my face the whole time. Can't wait to go back.

Yes. Always yes. The wait was long but well worth it. The bar is the place to be. Excellent everything. Food was delicious. The artichokes were insane!

Had to wait a little bit but it was very worth it. You sit down and the server asks if you have any dietary restrictions then what you would like to drink. Basically they tell you what you want to eat since the menu is limited and it's tapas, it is completely fine! The bar was energetic and fun to chat with people around you. The servers are funny and you get to interact with the chefs as they cook. Very fun and would go back again 100%.

Never leave reviews but this place was the biggest scam. No menu and charged us $70 for 4 prawns that we're disgusting

[Food] Prix Fixe Menu (~€75 for 2 people) - Catalan Tomato Bread: Apparently this was a freebie they give to everyone but getting this first filled me up a bit. Don't get me wrong, I love tomato bread, but I would've saved this for the end to ensure I ate everything else first. - Mixed Fried Seafood: Includes shrimp, squid, and anchovies. Enjoyed most of the seafood but the anchovies were a bit too fishy and salty for me personally. - Steamed Mussels & Clams: My favorite dish! I practically ate this all myself! - Tuna Tartare: Yummy and fresh! Toasted bread was a bit too hard. - Tortilla de Patatas: Got confused with what this was at first thinking it was a dessert but I was actually pleasantly surprised it was a savory potato omelette dish. My second favorite! [Service] - Friendly, fast, nice, humorous [Ambiance] - Super packed so make sure you line up 30-45 minutes prior to opening if you don't have reservations - Fairly small. Seems like the bar is the main area to be seated. [Overall] - Would definitely come back for this the next time I'm here! Definitely worth it for the price! - We got what is basically a set prix fixe menu of what's fresh that day and I don't regret it. I just wish I had enough room to order the other amazing dishes I saw other customers order, like the small clams! - Ask for some lemon as it really brings out the freshness of the seafood!

    Love this place.

Beyond delicious. Charming wait staff. Sat at counter and ate what was recommended and it all meted in our mouths.

Nestled in an unassuming network of cobble stone lined alley ways are hidden gems worth discovering. We came looking for tapas, paella, sangria; and we found just that. Location: Plaza de España is within a 5 min walk, blocks away from shopping, and 30 minutes from the airport by way of shuttle. Used Google Maps with several sharp turns to find this local favorite. Service: the owner employs his pet Pomeranian, that follows the wait staff unconditionally. This is a no frills restaurant; grab a seat anywhere you like, and order off the menu. What we ate: Table service - pitted olives; briny and herbaceous. So delicious as an appetizer. Crisp Potatoes - served with aioli and red pepper sauce; so simple yet so comforting. Fried Calamari - can't go wrong with crispy calamari. Pork & Mushroom Paella - I know we're used to seeing seafood, but pork and mushroom with crispy rice is different, bold, and worth each bite. Sangria Blanco - I won't lie, it was heaven with the first sip, and it left me wanting more. Unlike its red cousin; white sangria is lighter and more fruit forward. So refreshing! After 18 hours of transiting; this was a delectable experience.

Ziryab seemed to fit the bill, so we made plans to stop here during our first night in the city. Ziryab is located close to the Gothic Quarter, on side street. It's kind of inconspicuous from the outside, but the interior gives way to a really welcoming space. The restaurant is separated into two main areas, with an earth-tone color scheme that has a rustic, almost cave-like aesthetic. The high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows keep the dining room open and spacious. The tapas menu had a good selection, and we decided on several items: pan con tomate, sweet potato rolls, chicken cannelloni, bacon-wrapped figs, croquettes, falafel, and a charcuterie board. All the tapas were great - my favorites were the chicken cannelloni, pan con tomate, and the charcuterie board. The cannelloni especially was a standout - definitely a unique dish, and the chicken was super flavorful. We opted for dessert, and got the feta whip cheesecake - this was great as well. The combination of tang and sweet was a good finisher to our meal. Service was great - everyone was friendly and our dishes were served at a good pace. Overall, I'm glad I tried out Ziryab - the tapas were delicious and atypical of ones you find elsewhere in Barcelona. I would have no qualms returning here for another meal.
