I asked about something that was not on their menu, and they had the chef make it for us anyway--sliced tomatoes with olive oil and pulpos with garlic and olive oil instead of the tomato base sauce it normally comes with. Literally everything we ordered was fantastic. If you think I'm being biased because we were treated very well and our party had a wonderful time, then go ahead and call it bias. But the fact that we walked away happy, satisfied, and will have long-lasting memories at this place, then they succeeded! Restaurants are not strictly about the food. It's the entire experience. I wish I knew all the Spanish names of the dishes because everything was amazing. The highlights for us were the Bacalao -- so tender and full of flavor -- and honestly the best octopus I've ever had in my life. I've been here a few times. Last time was 3-4 years ago and the food was phenomenal!!! I went here last night and I have to say the food quality has changed a lot. They have expanded their space to fit more customers inside and outside. They are just rushing through their orders and not putting the same quality it once had. I asked the waiter and he said it has recently been taken over by new ownership. The new owners seem to be pushing numbers rather than keeping the quality and originality of the food. This is the type of Tapas place I was looking for in Barcelona. The menu had tastes of everything I could have wanted to try. It was great, but the special of the night was the best lamb I have ever had. It was a toasted style with thinly cut potatoes and peppers with a sauce that tied it all together perfectly! Desert was amazing as well; but the "Torrija" Cremada de Sta. Teresa was the best desert I had all trip. A fusion of cream burly top and a filling wrapped in an upscale churro skin that was perfect. Came here on the strong recommendation of a friend. Usually people recommend places and I am not impressed. This place really impressed me. I hope it wasn't because we had walked about 25k steps by the time we got there but because the place was so darn good! We got there around 630pm on a Monday evening got seated right away. When we left an hour later there was a line to get in. Amaya was our waiter and he was wonderful. We knew we wanted to try the following dishes: Razorback clams 5/5: I've only seen these in NY and had them stir fried. These were steamed and perfectly tender. Of the 3 pieces I ate, one had that funny tang at the end but the other two were great. Squeezed a little lemon on top and it was perfection! Creamy Asparagus and mushroom 3/5: Dunno why everyone says to order this. It was okay but nothing special to it. A good hit of garlic I suppose but nothing to write home about. Spanish omelette 5/5: It really tasted like a melt in your mouth scalloped au gratin. But the combination of tender potatoes, cream and light egg just melts in your mouth. Loved the little buttered tomatoe bread too to balance the "omelette". Amaya, our awesome waiter wanted to surprise us with his recommendations. They were: Suckling pig 4/5: I had wanted to try this and the first bite was disappointing too salty but when I added some of the orange sauce it balanced it out perfectly. Very tender but I wouldn't order it again. Prawn skewer 5/5: Wow. That's all there is to say. The prawn and calamari rings were so tender and the prawns were fresh and juicy. Cooked to perfection. Cod with "olivado" 5/5: This was the best dish by far. The fish was flakey tender and the cheese? with hint of tomatoes was all balanced to well. I thought the hubs was going to lick his plate! For dessert he ordered us the "torrija" which tasted like a combination of donut, cream, and creme brûlée. 5/5! The combination of flavors and textures in your mouth was sooooo good! Got this reco from a fellow Yelper. This was my favorite dining experience in Barcelona. Arrived at noon on a weekday with a party of 6 without reservations. The restaurant is quite large, so they were able to seat us since the locals seem to eat at 1 PM. Servers were very friendly and spoke quite a bit of English. They gave us a Catalan/Spanish Menu as well as an English menu. The servers mentioned that tables are available for 1.5 hours and then they ask you to leave. We had no problems with the timing as the food comes out quickly after ordering. The food - recommended without reservations Burnt Saint Teresa "torrija" - easily my favorite dessert on the trip, maybe the best overall dish. If a popover, cream puff, and a crème brûlée got together and had a baby, this dessert would be the result. Eggy-bready on the outside, cream filling, and a caramelized sugar crust on top. I saw some people post a picture of this dessert and label it "bread pudding". That's like posting a picture of the Sistine Chapel and calling it "paint on stone". "Cabreaos" style eggs - "angry" eggs - a bowl of shoestring fries + chile sauce + 2 sunny side up eggs - this is all cut up and mixed table-side. Eat it quick while it's still crispy. Grilled Razor Clams and Grilled Galician Clams - very fresh seafood, simply prepared. Cooked to perfection. Creamy mushrooms assortment - if you like mushrooms, you like this dish. Comes with an egg yolk that gets mixed in. Codfish with honey "aioli" - the fish has a bit of chew to it - maybe slightly underdone. Honey adds quite a bit of sweetness. Never had this pairing before and definitely worth trying. Recommended Chocolate with churros - 5 thin pieces of churro. The chocolate is one of the better ones we had on the trip - more chocolate flavor and very smooth (not a broken emulsion) Fried Mix - squid, cuttlefish, small fishes, padron pepper - the peppers look like shishitos, but they don't have any heat. Ciutat Comtal was a restaurant that I had seen recommended numerous times while I was searching for places to eat at in Barcelona, and after coming here I can see why. I came here for lunch, and thankfully I didn't have to wait too long before I got seated inside. The interior is a bit on the smaller side, but it's quite bright with a lot of natural sunlight inside. For the food, I decided to get squid, codfish with honey allioli, and iberian ham montaditos. While all of the food was great, for me the codfish was hands-down the star of the show and probably one of the best dishes that I ate on the trip. The flavor of the sauce combined with the texture of the fish actually blew me away, and I can see why my server highly recommended this to me. First, I want to say that the food was amazing. This is the second time we visited Ciutat Comtal. We are from California. We visited last June by happen-chance. We loved the lively atmosphere and the fact that most patrons were enjoying in boisterous conversations. That first night in June 2025, it was mostly a 20/30's crowd bc it was after 11 pm. This visit to Spain we stayed at a hotel feet from the restaurant. I was so excited when I saw the familiar awnings. I had planned to Come by anyway but this was a great surprise. We invited two friends also visiting Spain to join us. I told my husband that I wanted to visit everyday before we leave. I was joking half heartedly. Other guests chatted us up while we waited to be seated and for our friends. We were thoroughly enjoying ourselves, Friends came and we began catching up on all things. AT SOME POINT, I noticed a table two away with two women one slightly older with a large beak and across the room staring at us/me. Glaring and dirty looks. We were dressed in our best and actually made an attractive group. 45 minutes into our meal our waitress (middle aged Asian lady) came over and said to me "I'm sorry but that lady said you are talking too loud." I was shocked. Mind you we had other tables near us. The waitress apparently ASSUMED the lady with the beak nose was right the way she said it. I said we were going to continue to enjoy ourselves and thank you. I was very embarrassed as she zoomed in on me. As a lawyer, I know what is right and wrong for behavior and I was absolutely acting appropriately. I can only believe that the lady with the beak/nose did not like or appreciate my presence or joy at seeing me with my husband and friends. I believe as the only BLACK woman at the table she targeted me. Though we ordered probably 10 -12 tapas and 3 bottles of wine, my embarrassment stayed. They (the beak lady) left. We stayed an hour more paid, tipped and left. I really wish that if I was so much of a problem that a MANAGER would have came over to speak to both TABLES. I was made to be at fault and because I did not want to make a big deal with our friends I didn't argue the point. The waitress has a superior to report to and she should have handed the situation off. I did not feel supported at all. We won't be returning as a result of this experience despite my intention to be a regular in my short time here. Please do better for your guests especially those who present differently. I am so disappointed and upset at this experience. Use my experience as a cautionary tale for those like me. read more

This place is packed but the line moves quickly. On a Saturday night when the entire city seemed to be put and about, we were waiting outside for a spot, but seated at the bar area in minutes. Service was fast and friendly and then even offered English menus when they realized we weren't fluent in Spanish. We got the grilled shrimp skewers, grilled pulpo, Spanish potato omelette served with tomato bread and montadito with cured meats and cheese - manchego cheese, ham, chorizo and Iberico ham. All the dishes were excellent. A couple seated next to us informed is that they have great French toast as one of their desserts, but we were too full to try it out. Ah! Next time! Here's what we ended up ordering: -iberian jamon medium platter -bread w/ tomato (to pair w/ the iberian jamon) -beef w/ foie gras -bravas potatoes -cola w/ lemon -razor clams -pulpo -fried anchovies -Spanish omelette MY FAVORITE was the beef w/ foie gras! OMG, it was TOO good. I wanted to order another one but needed to leave some room to try the other dishes. Bravas potatoes are ALWAYS good, haven't had a bad one yet (fingers crossed haha). Everything came out quick & service was not bad at all. I think this place is a bit touristy but I mean, not complaining. All the dishes we ordered were yummy... the beef w/ foie gras is my favorite though & a must order! They did unfortunately forget two other dishes we ordered (salmon & mussels). If you're visiting from another country, don't forget that on Spanish time, lunch is around 2-3 pm and dinner is later around 9-11 pm. There is going to be a big crowd outside waiting in line to get in, but the wait wasn't too bad. The crowd was a combination of locals and tourists. They have both Spanish and English menus, so don't be intimidated. Our waiter was great and gave us several recommendations. We liked every dish we tried! Our personal favorites were the Cabreaos style eggs (the potatoes are so crunchy and perfectly coated with runny egg and spice), prawns skewer montadito (so plump and fresh!), beef tenderloin montadito with foie (the foie gras is rich and just melts in your mouth). This is a solid tapas bar near Placa de Catalunya. It shares the same owner as Cervesaria Catalana and Vinitus. My favorites are the eggplant chips, and the shrimp and asparagus tempura. The eggplant chips were crispy and had a nice sweet drizzle on top. I have never dipped shrimp tempura in romesco sauce before, but it was nice, kind of felt like it was a Japanese-Spanish fusion tapa. The torrija (Spanish French toast) was good too. Service was pretty fast. Given the number of tourists in the area, I am sure they would want to turn over the tables as soon as possible. Thought we would have to wait a bit to get seated, but there's a lot of seating both indoor and outdoor. Even with so many customers, their service was rather fast and efficient. Once we got seated, they wasted no time and asked us if we were ready to order. We ordered a few traditional Spanish tapas, which we were all very delightful CALAMARI ANDALUSIAN: Loved this! The batter was very thin and the calamari were all very thick and bouncy! These were so easy to eat and the citrus from the lemon cut the oiliness from the calamari. CROQUETTES: Crispy on the outside, soft and buttery inside. I loved the croquettes and could probably inhale a ton of these. PAPAS FRITAS: I'm not a huge papas fritas fan, but my boyfriend is and he loved the sauce and seasoning on the potatoes. The potatoes were crispy on the outside, but soft and pillowy inside as well. TENDERLOIN AND FOIE GRAS MONTADITO: I didn't love this as much especially for what it's worth. The tenderloin was hard to chew through and the foie gras just seemed a little extra on top of it. Nothing about the flavors really stood out. But the one item that deserves a category of it is own is the TORRIGA QUEMADA DE STA TERESA. Oh my goodness! This bread pudding was amazing! Absolutely amazing!!! We found this place on a whim, down the street from another bar. We sat under the tents near a firepit. We ordered several tapas and they all tasted AMAZING. The service was fantastic. They were on point and always took away our empty dishes quickly. We ordered 7 tapas and ALL of them were amazing. The sangria was good as well. Ciutat Comtal was a recommendation from a friend and I had it bookmarked for our last lunch in the city. We arrived around 12:30pm on a Saturday and there was no wait. It's actually a really big space, so they sat us upstairs in a quiet corner. We had grilled razor clams, octopus Galician style, duck with apple and oporto sauce montaditos, grilled scallop and prawn montaditos, and the tenderloin and foie gras montaditos. The razor clams and the octopus were the highlights, along with the grilled scallop and prawn montaditos. I actually ended up ordering another of the scallop and prawn montaditos. The food was really, really good and I am recommending it to all my friends moving forward. If you're looking to have lunch here later than 1pm on a Saturday, be prepared to wait. By the time we left about an hour later, there was a huge line. read more
