Some meals stay with you forever, and this was one of them. The food here was, without question, some of the best I've ever had. The foie gras was absolutely unforgettable--rich, delicate, and simply to die for. The sangria was equally exceptional, fresh, balanced, and dangerously delicious. But what makes this place truly special is something that can't be captured on a menu. The atmosphere, the warmth, the way time seems to slow down... words simply can't do it justice. If you're visiting Barcelona, don't just come here for dinner. Come here to fall in love with the food, the city, the moment, or maybe even someone sitting across the table. An experience I'll never forget. read more

My husband and I arrived to Barcelona late in the evening. We had read reviews that the food scene extended well into the night, so we decided that even though it was 10:30pm, we would still walk over to Tapeo and see if we had any luck getting seating. Well, the restaurant was cute and cozy with a great ambiance. With luck on our side, we found two seats at the bar and quickly ordered drinks. We ordered a pitcher of the sangria (because why not?). The sangria was delicious, refreshing, and made to order. It was definitely more authentic than what we're getting in America. We ordered the patatas bravas, tempura asparagus, the octopus, and the steak. It all came out as it became available. We couldn't decide what our favorite was, to be honest. We ordered an ice cream sandwich for dessert and quickly requested our bill. We didn't want to hold the staff up as we noticed they were cleaning the establishment and people were finishing up. Overall, what a great experience for our first meal in Barcelona! Cute and hidden gem. read more

Located in the La Ribera neighborhood, Tapeo was a Yelp find. Smaller and cozy with a few Bar seats and some high top tables. Also, a small area for bigger groups in the back. We grabbed the only table open when we arrived at 1 on a Monday afternoon. We saw a Cava Sangria (a first) and had to try-light and delicious! They also had Majou Beer (from Malaga) on draft which is hard to find outside of Malaga so had to have one. We ordered a couple of starters and a couple of what I'd say were bigger plates. The pork belly marinated in lime was tasty but the fresh Mackerel stole the show! The Truffled eggs with foie and mushrooms was finished table-side and was amazing. We missed that the Cuttlefish had squid ink-no matter, so light and exquisite-only complaint would be to have more cuttlefish. Service was engaged and friendly from start to finish. Tapeo reminds me of some of the regional restaurants where you want to try the entire menu at once cause it all looks so good. Tapeo is now on the list of "must stops" when in Barcelona! read more

Food was amazing! Staff was very attentive. Small place, but definitely a MUST for Tapas!!! Beef Tenderloin melted in your mouth! Fried anchovies were unexpectedly good, (for someone who doesn't like anchovies!). We also had the tempura asparagus and burrata with tomatoes, so delicious. We had the Dulche de Leche and Bread pudding was to die for!!! Next time i want to try the ribs, and the foam dessert! read more

Went here without a reservation (strongly recommended) & were lucky to get seated in the back corner overlooking the kitchen staff. It was our first night in Barcelona and it did not disappoint! Tasty Barceloneta Bomb, delicious Quinoa Salad, inventive and memorable Snail with rabbit combination and an unforgettable egg jamon iberico dish. As Arnold would say "I'll be Back"! read more

The food, service and vibe just perfect! So good I went twice! The black sausage was divine! Great wine too!

We only had two dinners in Barcelona before our cruise, so we had to make them count, and this place absolutely delivered. Yelp steered me here, and it did not disappoint! First tip: make a reservation. We booked one the day before (easy peasy), but when we got there they were turning people away left and right. So yeah, feeling pretty smug about that one. The vibe is totally authentic: cramped, lively, and full of energy. There's bar seating, a few high tables, and a little room in the back, but we loved being up front where all the action was. Our waiter, Jarrel (pronounced like Superman's father), was the absolute best. He guided us through the menu like a pro, and we ended up with some killer dishes. The sausage cannelloni? Life-changing. The fried asparagus? Hey, a girl's gotta have her vegetables, am I right? The steak was okay - but we should have gotten the ribs that everyone else was getting, so learn from my mistake. I was most excited for the foie gras and egg dish, but it leaned a little too heavy on the truffle (which is not something I say often) and not enough foie. Still, it was a fantastic meal overall. We told Jarrel we wanted a leisurely dinner to soak up the atmosphere, and he timed everything perfectly. read more

Tapeo - patatas bravas - Tapas Bars Near Me - Barcelona, B

Hands down some of the best tapas we've tried in Barcelona. We visited many establishments and most had the same menu of items which is boring if you are an adventurous eater. Tapeo had the best variety of unique items and everything was delicious. We made a reservation and was seated immediately. I highly recommend the pork ribs, the sweetbread (yummy) and the bone morrow. My only wish was that they served the veal and bone morrow with simple bread to smear the morrow on. Our server was friendly and the bill was on par with other places that were not nearly as good. Highly recommend. read more

The food & sangria were absolutely wonderful! We got lucky at lunch & were able to get 2 seats at the bar without reservations. Recommend making reservations for lunch & dinner. Reasonable prices & beautiful presentation. Tempura asparagus was huge & delicious. Ham croquettes were delicious, a bit small so we should've got 2 orders. The quinoa & avocado salad was divine. The beef tenderloin cooked perfectly & delicious. Sangria sold by 1/2 liter or full liter. Service was good. read more

Really great small tapas place, that is pretty affordable in my opinion for the quality. You could make reservations in advance, although there seemed to be tables available on Friday around 1pm. If you're a couple, I recommend bar seating as the seated tables are a bit cramped and against the wall. Standouts were patatas Bravas, 100% beef burger, and beef tenderloin. The patatas was fried well. The beef burger was nicely salted and went well with the foie gras. Beef tenderloin was fairly soft and potatoes were very thinly sliced. read more

I came here highly recommended while visiting BCN and was so impressed with everything I ordered. I came on a week night so it was easy to grab a table. Staff were very accommodating and helpful with discussing the menus. The tapas here were incredible with honorable mentions to the patatas bravas, steak chimichurri and the lamb! Everything was so tasty and priced friendly for the amount of food! I would absolutely come back next time I visit BCN read more

Unfortunately I dont really understand the hype for this restaurant. All the reviews seemed so promising I had to make a reservation here. It is hard to get seating because it is so small and it is in one of the busiest parts of gothic quarter but when I sat down I ordered about 8 tapas for 3 people. I got the pork ribs like everyone suggests, the flavor from the honey is good but is on the sweeter side but it tastes like the ribs were boiled so long it no longer had the taste of meat. I also had the seafood fiduea which was also very disappointing.. it was all noodles and the clams were incredibly tiny with very little sea urchin, the noodles were bland and so was the seafood. This place is also on the pricier side compared to other restaurants that serve tapas. Some better things on the menu i Had were the marinated mackerel and the bombeta. The vermouth here was good as well. Overall I wish this place was as good as everyone described it was.. Maybe it was a bad day for them? read more

I'm picky about food. I've definitely noticed that there are places getting high marks in Spain and Portugal on various rating platforms that were just okay for me. Food tastes can vary, so maybe I need to find the foodies who share mine. Regardless, since I was on vacation, I didn't plan to review the places we ate, but I have to do one for Tapeo. It's a small place, so it's tough to get in at the busier times. They do make reservations. The service was extremely attentive (you'll have a server, but everyone helps out). Normally when traveling, we try many places, but we loved what we had so much that we actually ate here three times (I'm a little embarrassed to admit that). I did not get pictures of everything, but we liked everything we ate here. In our three weeks in Spain and Portugal, we ate a lot of good food, but were also sometimes disappointed by highly reviewed places (we don't usually go to the really expensive places, so I'm sure there are some great options that we tend to miss due to prices). I did not find a place that I liked more on this trip. My favorites overall were the roasted lamb and the roasted aubergine (eggplant) with honey and lime. The bread with tomato was also a delicious start to several meals. Tapeo is a delicious way to celebrate Spanish cuisine in Barcelona. read more

Their Patatas Bravas was the best of our trip (we had order that dish at 4 different restaurants during a week and often like but loved them here). We went back 3 times during our trip!!! It was absolutely amazing. Some of the best food Ive had thus far. The ceviche itself was mind blowing, I would highly recommend trying this! The service was on and off but towards our last visit they warmed up to us. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu (they've been in business for 15 years so I am hopeful they will still be there when I go back to Barcelona) ¡Fuimos de regreso 3 veces durante nuestro viaje!!!

This place was excellent. The cod fritters were the 8 year old and her grandfathers favorite. Another big hit was the ribs; the flavor was elite. It was a small restaurant but had some seating for larger parties in the back. read more

Hands down BEST RESTAURANT we visited in Spain (Barcelona and Madrid). Went there three times in 2 weeks. Only place we went to more than once. Every single dish was an experience and the best version of that dish that we had had on our entire trip. Please do yourself a favor and make time to come here. The place is small and it gets busy fast so we made it a point to go before 6 PM for dinner since we didn't mind (we're American and eat early anyways) in that way we didn't have to wait in line or feel cramped in the small space. read more

I really enjoyed my meal at Tapeo. I made reservations for Saturday lunch at 1:30 for 2 people and was seated promptly when we arrived. I think they were taking some walk-in groups but for later, as I heard the bartender tell someone to come back in an hour. The restaurant is long and narrow. Most seating in the front is high tops or at the bar. It's bigger than I thought it was, with additional booth seating in the back. We started out sharing a half pitcher of sangria for 10€, which was about one cup per person. It's on the strong side here; you can definitely taste the wine. Most of the food menu centers around various tapas dishes, including some Catalonian dishes. The menu is meat heavy but does have limited vegetarian options as well. We ordered three tapas: Yakisoba de verduritas / vegetable yakisoba (12€) - this was pretty standard Meloso de ternera con tuetano asado / sweet veal with roasted marrow (18€) - I loved every single bite of this dish. The veal was melt in your mouth tender and paired perfectly with the marrow. Conejo con caracoles / grilled boneless rabbit with snails (14€) - I wanted to try a Catalonian dish and this sounded really interesting, so I got it. Essentially it's ground rabbit meat served with snails on top. I couldn't really tell it was rabbit meat, but it was quite tasty! read more

Service was standard Spain service, please don't expect much, they all spoke English though. I guess I should've looked at yelp review before I ordered because seems like I ordered all the unpopular dishes hence my so-so experience. But I wanted something that's not the typical "patatas bravas". So I guess my review is just for the dishes that I've tried. Sea bass ceviche w/ kimchi was nice try with the Asian fusion but not a fan, it was definitely on the salty side. Foie gras burger was small which is fine for 8€ but the foie gras was really thin. The texture of the oxtail was so soft and tender but it was crazy salty. Even eating it with the minimal amount of mashed potatoes they gave me did not help. 45€ for 1 person and everything was insanely salty. Unless you love heavily salted food, do not recommend. read more

My niece and I are on a european whirlwind trip that started in Barcelona today. She found Tapeo looking at TikTok. We walked in and immediately notice the charm. This is a small restaurant with bars eating for around 8 and table wearing for around 20. We were there for an hour and a half and were not rushed at all. We started with burrata with tomatoes, the burrata was creamy and now and then you'd hit some flaked salt and wow. The bombeta - which they are known for, it did not disappoint! Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Then we moved on to the beef tenderloin with truffle sauce. The tenderloin was on top of what we think were really tender thinly sliced potato. Then the cuttlefish pasta came out. This is a large dish, multiple people can enjoy it. The noodles were tender, the ink made a flavorful sauce and the small pieces of cuttlefish were tender. It came with an aioli that added some nice depth to the fish. Finally, I couldn't leave without trying the meat stuffed morel mushrooms. The cream sauce made it next level. Overall, we loved everything we tried and wish we could go back tomorrow to try more!! Highly recommend!! read more

Came here on family vacation, at the recommendation of a client, and it did not disappoint! We had a bigger group, which was a plus, because we got to sit in the much quieter back room. (The front/main space is very narrow and hectic, which is a vibe - just not our vibe with a mixed group). KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: this is definitely a spot that is getting to be more well known, and in a well trafficked museum district. The prices and reservations reflect this, so don't be surprised. You can get much more affordable tapas and drinks elsewhere, but you aren't coming here for affordability - you're coming for gastronomy. The service was INCREDIBLE. Like over the top excellent. The servers were multilingual of course, and our server gave us excellent recommendations for dishes when we couldn't make up our mind. What really sealed the deal though was how well he interacted with our cranky toddler. He charmed her, helped her settle down, and did magic tricks for her. By the end of our meal she was asking "where did my friend go?" Overall the food was all excellent and we particularly enjoyed the ribs and lamb. The wine was also great and well priced, but the sangria was far too sweet for our tastes, even without mixing. PRO-TIP: make reservations, and consider going with friends to secure that back room. read more

We had reservations, but showed up early and they were able to accommodate us. The atmosphere is great, very clean and cozy. The servers were friendly and all spoke English that we spoke to. The food is great, the patatas bravas were the best we've had in Barcelona. I followed the advice of a lot of yelpers to place my orders and it was all wonderful. I have to say I didn't love the truffled eggs. Maybe I just don't like truffles, but I normally love mushrooms, and couldn't eat it. Everything else to was very interesting, and well done. That dish was as well, I just must not like truffles. read more

Nice restaurant with some really delicious bites, the honey mustard ribs were a must get! Relatively simple dishes with high quality ingredients. The honey mustard ribs were amazing and super memorable across our whole trip in Spain. They came out hot, tender, and falling off the bone in a sweet, sticky, and tangy sauce. The meat itself was perfectly cooked and fattiness was so good with the sauce. The iberian ham was also great, some of our favorite during our trip. Super high quality and you can see them slicing it towards the kitchen. It had that quintessential salty/nutty flavor that is unique to cured meats - so so good. Cod fritters were tasty, beef was a little dry but had a good sauce on top. Eggs were also good but nothing standout. We did have a reservation and the place did get very crowded shortly after opening. Overall it was a very solid meal, would recommend. read more

We had a reservation for Tapao thanks to Jacob's lovely grandfather when we got these very sexy. We had a nice walk here beautiful streets amazing atmosphere. We walked in and we thought the place was packed, but that was just the first section. There are two main sections of the restaurant we were sat kind of in between the two when we sat down. We were a little bit cramped by the section, but we get it because the place is very busy and popular. We ordered a few different things I think about six or 7/ first one we had was the crickets very very, very good. The second dish ceviche was a little McCormick generic tasting definitely not very Barcelona more to come. oh my God, I'm bloody knackered we had snail with rabbit rib meat.
