Vinitus has a wide selection of tapas that are reasonably priced, which makes it a great spot to try a variety of dishes without breaking the bank. There's about a one-and-a-half hour limit per table, but the service is efficient and the pace works well for a tapas-style meal. It's also super convenient, only about a five-minute walk from our hotel. My favorites were the Spanish omelette, acorn fed Iberian Ham, and the croquetas with Iberian ham and chicken. We've been dreaming about Vinitus since we went in 2019 and it didn't disappoint. We went at 10pm and waited 1/2 hour on a lovely bench, people watching. Ate outside though there is plenty of seating indoors on the main level and in the below ground dining room as well. We had the honey cod over tomato jam which was magical, the sweet potato and eggplant chips, the Catalan egg over fries with a kimchi type sauce, the date bacon and cheese sandwich (the least favorite but still delicious), an adorable single mini cheeseburger, and a mini filet. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Menus were offered in several languages with no judgment. We brought our own bottled waters - 2,30 euros for 3! - from the market down the way next to Coco, the boba place. The whole dinner came out to like 44 euros and we were stuffed! read more

This will be a very disappointing place for any visitor who speaks/understands Spanish...not only is it just another tourist trap, but it's also run by very rude people. Both times we came here, it was basically because it's one of the only options in the area still open after 11/11:30pm. When we first flew into Barcelona, we didn't make it to the hotel until the evening, and ended up napping for a little while before going out for some food. As a result, we ended up at Vinitus just before 12am (they close around 1am). This first time, they seated us at a table just outside the main entrance, as they were closing down the outdoor patio space for the night. The food was (ok), but sufficed for the evening, since we were mostly just hungry and tired. Alright, now...let's cut to the second visit. About a week later, we returned to Barcelona by train after visiting a few other parts of Spain. Similarly to the previous time, it was late in the evening, so we ended up going to Vinitus - half out of familiarity, half because it's one of the only options open later at night. This time, we were seated within the indoor dining space, so we could hear all of the staff talking. Throughout the evening, they kept glancing over at us, making faces, and talking amongst themselves. Clearly, they didn't realize that we, as American tourists, could understand and speak Spanish....as they were quite obviously talking a WHOLEEE lot of gossip. We overheard them saying something about us not tipping when we came 'last Monday'.....even though tipping is not part of the culture in Spain and we literally have never been asked ANYWHERE in Spain to tip or given any indication that it is expected in any way. They also gossiped about our food and drink choices. We paid our bill and I went downstairs for the restroom...apparently my partner had made it clear to them that we could understand everything they had been saying while I was gone, as they were attempting to be extremely friendly to me as I exited....something they had never bothered to do in any way AT ALL previously. Anyways...I don't think it'd be surprising for me to say that they've left a bad taste in the mouths of two customers who otherwise might have returned on future visits to Barcelona.... ...but now we most certainly will not, and will also be advising friends and family who visit Spain not to patron this establishment either. read more

Got here during the dinnertime rush, and were seated at the bar after a short wait. Christian who was handling the bar, our order and adeptly juggling another orders was our server. He recommended some dishes which we thoroughly enjoyed. The bustling and welcoming vibe is memorable. They have a rotating menu of daily specials. Didn't make a reservation for this place but we thought if we got there early enough we would get a seat for two fairly quick and that's how it was! The place is a nice place for a group as well for a solo or a date, they have an excellent wine selection as well as some juices and soft drinks. The food was very tasty, but I did have the little steaks with padrón peppers and the pepper was super spicy, not sure why because I've had those peppers many time before at diff restaurants and this is the very first time is spicy so eye on that if you don't tolerate spice! Vinitus is one of my new favorite spots in Madrid. It is a more higher end restaurant, with heftier prices, but a really fancy ambiance. When you walk in, you can see the kitchen in the middle of the restaurant, with fresh ingredients lined up. I love the variety the menu provides and how there are daily specials. All the food was great, but our favorite was the dessert. The churros were even better than the infamous San Ginés, with a better depth of flavor. Delicious reasonably priced tapas and wines, in a clean comfortable environment with excellent service. We walked here after seeing Casa Batlló....about 10 minutes: There was a line but it moved quite quickly. We were seated within 12 minutes of putting down our name. The place was huge with 2 floors of tables inside, a huge tapas bar that seats about 25 people and a covered outside dining area. Additionally I liked that it was very clean and well decorated. We liked it so much we came back for lunch 3 days later. That says a lot considering you practically stumble across a tapas bar/restaurant/eatery at every turn in the city center. Eleven days on both coasts of Spain, I've eaten my weight in Grilled Razor Clams and these were definitely my favorite. The sauce was slightly lighter in olive oil and a drizzle of white vinegar freshened up the entire dish and made a whole world of difference. Perfect with a glass of Cava or white wine. OCTOPUS "GALICIAN STYLE" is a traditional Spanish dish with octopus cooked with olive oil, smoked paprika, and sea salt. The octopus sliced into 1-inch pieces and served with potatoes. Here the octopus was served on a bed of puréed potatoes. Another winner. The octopus tender yet firm. The puréed potatoes smooth and soft but not rich and creamy which I really appreciated. To my taste, the dish needed a drizzle of olive oil and a dash of salt which I gladly added to make the dish perfect. Prawns Garlic Style - Poached prawns in a garlic olive oil with paprika. Simple but delicious. The broth not super garlicky, was so good we kept it to dip our bread in. Flautas (baguette sandwiches) with tuna, anchovies, olives and red pepper. Possibly my favorite sandwich...and I've had my share of Banh Mi. Loved this preparation with no mayonnaise. All the ingredients worked so well together. The roasted red bell pepper with olive oil and vinegar, added an a wonderful acidic freshness to the dish. The anchovies acted like the bass player in a band. Usually not the star of the show but would leave a void if not present. Here it played the role of salt and added a solid foundation of round umami for the other ingredients to build upon. This place was in the high end of pricing but all the tapas we had were fantastic. We had the assortment of montaditos. One had a croqueta that was so good. The other had a salad like a coleslaw but not really. My husband enjoyed the others that had sardines and cod. But their desserts were the star of the show.
