It was clean and perfect for what we wanted. I loved the Vermouth. The croquettes were great and I LOVED the Bombas! The had a nice menu selection. We happened to be wandering around this area looking for some late night (late to us) and happened upon La Bombeta. We loved that they didn't have people out trying to draw customers in. We were able to be seated right away in the outdoor area so we could people watch. The waiter Shaki was phenomenal! I was ordering and at one point he stopped me and said, that's enough food. I was shocked, but took his advice. He was absolutely correct! The tapas we ordered were fresh, delicious, and satisfying! I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We started talking with Shaki, and he brought us complementary house made truffles and even had us do a very special shot with him! Unbelievable service, such a wonderful man! The waiters are lively characters and make the place even better with their presence. The tapas are great. Definitely try the croquetas, the calamari, patates braves, gambas al ajillo and bombas and a pitcher of sangria. you will not be disappointed. Try to brush up on your Spanish if you don't know much, as the servers will most likely only be speaking Spanish. This tapas restaurant takes you out of the tourist traps and more where locals or those adventurous explorers go to find the best Spain has to offer in terms of not only food but atmosphere. The prices were reasonable, service great, menu quite extensive and food and drinks were delicious. Was recommended this from our local airbnb host who said it was "the best spot and he takes all his friends visiting here". To be completely honest it was by far the worst meal I have ever had in Barcelona. The steak was terrible, tasted like rubber and was thin and bad quality. Everything else was very below average in quality and presentation. The pan y tomate was the only thing that was decent and the fried potato balls that they are known for were alright, but fried in seed oils. Overall not worth your time. Go to Sensi Tapas or literally any other restaurant. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but we had 5-6 different dishes and most of them were very below average. read more

People were lined up outside the door and the owner would make eye contact and ask how many and get you in as soon as a table freed up. I was traveling single and it was my birthday. La Bombeta was amazing! The food was delicious of which I'll post photos. My friend from Florence, Italy told me they had no WiFi because they believe people need to talk to each other. That's really why I went ... I wanted to be around people. After dinner I showed my waitress the two candles I had brought with me and told her it was my birthday. She took them. They seem to be taking credit card now. The menu said at the bottom that credit card is not being accepted, but after ordering and looking up at the window, I noticed that credit cards are accepted. And the waiter confirmed for me that credit card is accepted. I came for the bombas. I have no reference point of how bombas should be, but they tasted great. The esqueixada was fresh and good, but the presentation was basic and the taste didn't wow me. I had esqueixada somewhere else on another night to compare. While I'm not the most superstitious person, sometimes the third time really is a charm. I was extremely hungry and wandering on my first night in Barcelona and had previously tried to get into two very packed spots for dinner. On my third try for hot spots yielded La Bombeta. Now, that is not to say that La Bombeta wasn't packed. It was. But, there was one spot open and I was dining solo, so luck was on my side. I sat down and quickly noticed that not a lick of English was being spoken. In that moment I knew I was where I needed to be. I immediately spied the bombas and patatas bravas. Everything was just working out perfectly and I made sure to order them along with bistec. All of the pictures of the bombas don't fully express the joy they were to eat. I just had a massive smile on my face as I was eating them. At that point my smile grew even more when I realized that I had patatas bravas right next to them on deck. Some people focus a lot on paella in Barca, me, patatas bravas were my calling. These were rocking and I was doing my best not to eat them too fast. I don't want to short change the bistec. It was just at the point I started eating my main entree that I was already a bit full. Good thing this was done beautifully so even though I was forcing it slightly, it was forcing through pleasure. The best part, was that all of this delicious food was less than €20. It felt like a steal. Who doesn't love to have a good meal at a good price? Fortunately, I think we were just there slightly early as many Spaniards and regulars started arriving shortly after we were seated. We were in Spain in Early January and I yelped for an authentic tapas restaurant and found this. It was filled with locals and my family seems to be the only tourists there. This made me happy as I knew that we were in for a local treat!! We started with a local brew.. then the dishes came. Treat it was, when we ordered the highly recommended Bombas. Wow.. it is very creamy and the sauce had a very nice kick to it.. next was a beautifully steamed, fresh mussels which had a light sauce. My son wanted a dish of Patatas Brava and it was awesome with a very nice spicy kick. I got some fried fish which went well with the beer. I could feel the freshness of the lightly battered fish. Ordered some spicy fried pork and was not disappointed.. this was during the mid of our Spain trip and we all agreed that this was the best tapas food we had so far.. The restaurant was packed when we got there. We had to wait a while for a table for 4. The staff hardly spoke English but they were helpful. I felt there were a few favours done to regular local customers ahead of us and thus a 4 star review. But food wise certainly they deserve a 5 star rating!! read more
