Tourist here, take with a grain of salt. The hostel I stayed at was given a tour by a Barcelona native who told us to come here for tapas. It's past all of the touristy and aesthetic spots on the water, so I wanted to share that rec from a local along with photos of my experience. The food was solid, everything was reasonably priced, and I'd definitely stop by again.
great tapas! all the food came quick and it was all delicious. we went around 10pm (they close at 12) and did feel slightly rushed to get out of there. But the service was otherwise great, all of the staff was very friendly. I would definitely recommend the sangria!
Crowded at night, but I didnt have to wait too long to get seated for just me. Food came our within 5 minutes. Waiter was singing while working. Very local and good food for the nighttime relax. The ambiance of this place is for friend gathering and drinking and tapas.

Old school tapas. If you want very traditional Spanish tapas, then this is the place. The atmosphere takes you back in time. Dark wood all around and lots of tables. The waiters are lively characters and make the place even better with their presence. The tapas are great. Definitely try the croquetas, the calamari, patates braves, gambas al ajillo and bombas and a pitcher of sangria. you will not be disappointed. Try to brush up on your Spanish if you don't know much, as the servers will most likely only be speaking Spanish. This tapas restaurant takes you out of the tourist traps and more where locals or those adventurous explorers go to find the best Spain has to offer in terms of not only food but atmosphere. The prices were reasonable, service great, menu quite extensive and food and drinks were delicious. I highly recommend venturing out and finding this place and enjoy a lazy afternoon or night time of tapas and canyas or sangrias.
The patatas bravas were really good!! Cash only though so come prepared to spend the euros~ The one thing I wish I had done was order a dish of the peppers. Maybe it's just my korean taste buds but it did get a bit greasy and boring after a few bites. The service however... was very neglectful but I'm guessing it's because we were foreigners but what can you expect??? The restaurant is in the middle of tourist traffic. Pricing was amazing!!! So cheap for the amount they give.
Very out of the way local restaurant very much for the locals but if you dare to venture then you will be in for a treat! Very funny staff full of character and the food is well pure Spanish pride. My waiter was hilarious as well. He was no holds barred in offering advice (in Spanish) if I was choosing too much to eat or the wrong things! We had the Bombetas (stunning), patatas bravas - stunning and unexpectedly spicy, gambas pil pil and a huge jug of Sangria (authentic not the tourist crap).. and well as you might as well shared a Catalina Créma for dessert. Worth a trip for something a little different from the normal Barcelona swank! Loved it!

This place is cash only, but there is an ATM right across the street. They have an English menu, but every single item we ordered was outstanding. The house sangria is a must. This is the diamond in the rough!!! The food here is amazing!!! We heard about it in our hotel guide phone... decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. People were lined up outside the door and the owner would make eye contact and ask how many and get you in as soon as a table freed up. Low priced so you can try a ton of items... and grilled or done to perfection!! We ate here our first night in Barcelona and now compare every restaurant with this one so we came back after a Long Beach day and perfecto!!! We had the bombas (their take on potato bravas) which are garlicky goodness !!! Grilled squid is melt in your mouth... grilled peppers are great!!! Our fave place in Barcelona!!

My friend from Florence, Italy told me they had no WiFi because they believe people need to talk to each other. That's really why I went ... I wanted to be around people. After dinner I showed my waitress the two candles I had brought with me and told her it was my birthday. She took them. After a while the lights went down and the owner, waiters and waitress came out with a little cake and my candles lit singing Happy Birthday to me in Spanish. Everyone in the house was singing, too! I went to La Bombeta for the Bombas, because I was told to get Bombas while in Barcelona. Service was okay. The restaurant is easy to find and in a good location. It was clean and perfect for what we wanted. I loved the Vermouth. The croquettes were great and I LOVED the Bombas! The had a nice menu selection. It was a nice evening and a great walk to and from the restaurant. I suggest you try it. read more
English? No Sangria? Yes Tapas? Yes Bombas? Hell yes Even for a place called La Bombeta, the bombas were out of this world. They're served with two sauces, one bringing a bit of a kick. The sangria is good (order a pitcher) and, aside from the bombas, the calamari and spicy pork were also delicious. read more
We happened to be wandering around this area looking for some late night (late to us) and happened upon La Bombeta. We loved that they didn't have people out trying to draw customers in. We were able to be seated right away in the outdoor area so we could people watch. The waiter Shaki was phenomenal! I was ordering and at one point he stopped me and said, that's enough food. I was shocked, but took his advice. He was absolutely correct! The tapas we ordered were fresh, delicious, and satisfying! I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We started talking with Shaki, and he brought us complementary house made truffles and even had us do a very special shot with him! Unbelievable service, such a wonderful man! La Bombeta was the best food we had while in Barcelona. I was traveling single and it was my birthday. La Bombeta was amazing! The food was delicious of which I'll post photos. My friend from Florence, Italy told me they had no WiFi because they believe people need to talk to each other. That's really why I went ... I wanted to be around people. After dinner I showed my waitress the two candles I had brought with me and told her it was my birthday. She took them. After a while the lights went down and the owner, waiters and waitress came out with a little cake and my candles lit singing Happy Birthday to me in Spanish. Everyone in the house was singing, too! It's surprising how there are these inexpensive but great restaurants just one street away from the waterfront. La Bombeta might seem like an unassuming spot, but their food was truly delicious! We tried their mussels with marinara sauce, garlic prawns, grilled small squid, and grilled artichoke. Everything was tasty! Their sangria is sweet but quite strong at the same time. While I'm not the most superstitious person, sometimes the third time really is a charm. I was extremely hungry and wandering on my first night in Barcelona and had previously tried to get into two very packed spots for dinner. On my third try for hot spots yielded La Bombeta. Now, that is not to say that La Bombeta wasn't packed. It was. But, there was one spot open and I was dining solo, so luck was on my side. I sat down and quickly noticed that not a lick of English was being spoken. In that moment I knew I was where I needed to be. I immediately spied the bombas and patatas bravas. Everything was just working out perfectly and I made sure to order them along with bistec. All of the pictures of the bombas don't fully express the joy they were to eat. I just had a massive smile on my face as I was eating them. At that point my smile grew even more when I realized that I had patatas bravas right next to them on deck. Some people focus a lot on paella in Barca, me, patatas bravas were my calling. These were rocking and I was doing my best not to eat them too fast. I don't want to short change the bistec. It was just at the point I started eating my main entree that I was already a bit full. Good thing this was done beautifully so even though I was forcing it slightly, it was forcing through pleasure. The best part, was that all of this delicious food was less than €20. It felt like a steal. Who doesn't love to have a good meal at a good price? I'm not sure those people exist, and if they do, then they need to comes to La Bombeta to have their opinion changed. read more

One of the best tapas restaurants in Barcelona, The line is long and the service is not very good but the food is authentic and amazing. If you're looking for a good Spanish tapas this is the place to go. read more

Had to stop by here after dinner just to try the Bombas. Yes we made a point to eat again for these yummy potatoes and the artichokes. It was pretty crowded when we arrived, but the waiter welcomed us warmly and found us a table close to the front. The bombas were so good! You get two per order and they are pretty hefty. The artichokes were also delicious. We also ordered a half pitcher of sangria...lots of fruit and not too sweet. You know this place is legit when there's a good mix of locals and tourists. read more

We loved it ! Tried the mushrooms, calimari, sausage with shishito peppers, and a liter of wine for under thirty euros. The staff was great ! They let me take a picture with the octopus ! We will absolutely be returning. read more

Bombas are not the only thing on La Bombeta's menu and there were plenty of gluten free options for me. I ordered of bowl of piping hot steamed mussels, a plate of grilled sardines and some fresh prawns. The service was quick and the vibe was noisy but fun. The prawns were so fresh and crunchy with a strong, rich flavour; these were ones that were good enough to suck the juices out of their heads. Not wanting to miss the opportunity to enjoy such a delicacy, I shamelessly sucked every one noisily while the remaining two tour members in our group looked on in horror. read more

Hands down this place BOMB that's why its La Bombeta! BTW the staff barely speaks English and they offer a English menu. However I didn't realize it until we sat down after looking at the menu outside for 10 mins. I can't express how great the food is at this restaurant. It funny we order so much food for 2 people that the waiter had to stop us! We started off with the potatoes balls (appetizer), shrimp with garlicky oil, mussels, tortilla de Bravas, and calms with white wine sauce. And don't forget the sangria! If only I knew this place was this good I would eat there everyday! =) read more

Top 5 things we are in BCN...the bombetas are worth the wait!!...service is ehh..they seem to take great care of the locals, but pay little attention to tourists...which makes sense but doesn't make it right...but even considering that we went back a second time to have some more before we went home!...if in BCN go!! read more

Fantastic tapas and seafood. We went back for more bombas, patatas bravas, squid, sardines, fried peppers and the very good sangria. Worth the wait! Enjoyed the professional service, piping hot authentic food, cold drinks! read more
