The food was really good, but the service was extremely frustrating. I waved to our server and waited while he finished speaking with another table. He saw me but went to do something else. When I waved again, he started walking toward us, but the same table called him back and he returned to them. I understood and continued waiting. After about five minutes, he finally approached our table. When he was only one step away, another table called him, and he immediately walked away without acknowledging us. When he eventually returned, he repeatedly asked, "Do you want to add something?" Even though I clearly answered yes, he continued asking the same question and raised his voice. The food in the restroom is OK. However, the cleaning conditions here is extremely terrible.This cup in the photo have a lipstick print on the side of the glass. Do they even clean the cups or any tablewares here? Even my grandmother can clean better than this shit! I nearly use it! An absolute must if you're in town. I loved this restaurant so much when I visited back in Oct 2024, that I went back again this past July (vs trying something new). La Flauta has so many menu options and something for everyone. The beef tenderloin montaditos, patatas bravas, goat cheese and ham salad, and spaghetti carbonara are my favorites here! This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge and it did not disappoint. They do t take reservations so be prepared to wait a little, it's worth it. Our server was excellent and helped us with our selections. They always have daily specials of a wide variety of tapas. We ordered patatas bravas, pernil ibérico, and an assortment of other tapas. Every dish had great presentation and the flavors were so good. I can't say which dish I liked best because everything was so good. The waiter challenged my preference for dry "seco" wine. The staff is not trained- you do not eat on the plate an entree is served: grilled clams, shrimp, and mussels. They offer both inside and outside seating and it was busy when we got there around 7pm. The weather was nice that we decided to sit outside (they have heaters which is nice). They have a selection of tapas and they are mostly known for their montaditos and flautas (sandwiches). La Flauta excels in both. The freshness of the seafood ranks among the best restaurants in Barcelona and they will NOT overcook your seafood! Start with the Mini Barbeque tapa which includes prawns, clams, and mussels. The prawns were the freshest and tastiest I've ever had! When you break the head off, don't discard it, suck the yummy goodness out of the head first. This is only a great idea when prawns are super fresh. Also consider getting the Creamy Mushroom tapa and the wonderful Codfish with Honey Alioli tapa. The cod fish was cooked perfectly and the sweet And creamy dressing paired wonderfully with the cod meat. The Beef Tenderloin with Foie is a decadent treat and will make your mouth water before your first bite. Another great aspect of La Flauta is the prices are reasonable compared to the most touristy places. When I was there it was filled with locals. Our faves were the prawns skewer montadito - large prawns and squid grilled on a skewer, Russian Salad with fresh tuna, patatas bravas, Spanish omelette with onion, Iberian ham. But you really can't go wrong. Deserts are incredible and really cheap for what you get (2.95 each). The torrija's are a mushy soft interior and a crusty, sugary exterior that tastes like French toast with crema Catalan on top. It is absolutely lovely. Have it with a cortardo. The extensive menu featured a list of creative tapas (small plates) and, of course, flautas, which were little sandwiches built on mini baguettes. We tried a hot flauta with Camembert, anchovies, and mushrooms, and the melty, unctuous camembert paired perfectly with the umami flavor of the anchovies and mushrooms. For our tapas selections, we tried the Codfish topped with a honey "allioli" sauce, baked to form a nice crust; a fluffy round omelette made with cod, mushrooms, and beans; a grilled octopus tentacle with mashed potatoes; and a simple dish of grilled asparagus and mushrooms. Everything was quality and delicious, but the standout dishes were the Grilled prawns/clams/mussels (especially the juicy, head-on red prawns) and the Grilled Iberian "Pen" and "Secret," which were two cuts of fatty Iberian pork grilled to perfection and served with potato wedges and chimichurri sauce on the side. Amazing evening with great and adventurous food! The staff made excellent recommendations for my favorite tapas: the jamon plate, manchego, and bread with tomatoes; these were so good and are absolutely necessary as a part of any tapas meal in Barcelona. The "house" wines are amazing and are 3 euro per glass! The sangria is made to order and is a killer combination of Spanish wine and fruit/possibly liquor. Other favorites include the fried calamari, which are by far less fried than in the states and incredibly tasty, and the beans with jamon and shrimp (sounds odd but very flavorful and smokey), and also the patatas bravas, which come in an incredible sauce. The crunchy camembert (fried cheese in nuts) was the only less than amazing dish. For dessert, we got the three texture chocolate, which was a chocolate mousse-esque bar, super tasty!
