Note: Cash only. It's on the outskirts of Cincinnati, though I came based on a recommendation from someone at the mediterranean grocery next to Findlay Market. A small, no-nonsense shop had one fridge set aside for larger preordered cakes and a display of cupcakes and other confections which looked quite splendid. Admittedly, the ones I bought looked a little bit less splendid after I jostled them around in the car. The box said to keep them refrigerated and between my cooler and my refrigerator they seem to have kept well for several days. And my goodness were they delicious. The white chocolate, caramel, and raspberry-flavored creations I tried were utterly magnificent. White chocolate is a weird flavor, but when it's done right it is quite transcendent, and I'll be thinking about this place's white chocolate cake for a while. The spot is a hike from downtown Cincinnati, and the small storefront doesn't stand out. And this is not going to be the place for people with special dietary needs. But if you're wondering whether it's good enough to be worth seeking out, it definitely is. read more

My birthday was this week and for part of my gift my son went to this bakery and bought macarons and half a dozen different cupcakes. Honestly, they are better than any other bakery I've been to in Cincinnati and will be my go to place even though they are further away. I think my favorite of the cupcakes was a hot chocolate one which you can see in the pictures. The frosting is the color of cocoa with a few mini-marshmallows on top and when you cut into it, there is marshmallow creme on the inside. Wow! There was a red velvet one, cookies and cream, perhaps Tiramisu and white chocolate caramel. I love to bake, but the products he puts out is so moist and delicious. I've known George for more than 15 years, since the days he baked out of an in home kitchen! He's a kindhearted man and is incredibly talented when it comes to baking. I have never had a dessert quite like his! He is busy and sometimes he is fully booked and cannot take any more orders so make sure to order in advance. My only complaint is that they're closed every year for my birthday month so we can't get a George cake to celebrate. Employees aren't often friendly but I look past that and continue to support George because I know he's a genuinely good person who makes my tastebuds so happy! We used Cakes & Pastried by George for our wedding desserts and he was absolutely phenomenal! We ordered an assortment of cupcakes, cream horns, cannolis, baklava, and mousse cups. His desserts look stunning and they taste even better than they look. At our wedding, people were raving about how good all of the desserts were! I read yelp reviews on this place and wanted to give it a try. They opened at 8:30am on a Saturday. I arrive at 8:25 just as other cars are pulling in with the same idea. I was surprised to be waiting 5th in line to order as the door were unlocked. During COVID they only let 2 customers in at a time while the rest wait outside. It's a very small storefront and figured if this many people are waiting it has to be good. They had 3 people working behind the counter so orders went through quickly. This is a cash only business so no credit cards accepted. I ordered 4 cupcakes, 4 creme horns and tried to place an order for a birthday cake for next week, but they were already booked (it's Labor Day Weekend). She did tell me that I could call in on Thursday to try and reserve a standard store cake...they just were unable to fulfill custom cake orders for the following week. The total was $23 and I think the cupcakes were $4.25ea and the horns $1.25ea. Now for the important part. The creme horns are amazing and a lady in line was so excited to see that they still had them in-stock that I had to try them myself and glad I did. They have like a slight drizzle of honey on top and the pastry and creme filling are the best I've ever tried anywhere. I never knew that a creme horn could even taste this good as they always tend to be kind of boring when bought elsewhere. The cupcakes were also the best I ever tasted. The cake was very moist and fluffy and the topping was light as air. This place is 5-star gem on the westside. I'm guessing you have to get there early as I don't imagine their daily stock lasts very long, but it's worth the early planning or ordering ahead. read more
