I loved their shaved ice (bingsu) and honey bread desserts in Korea but I came here after a very large and filling dinner so opted to just get a warm drink. 5/5 for their misugaru latte. If you haven't had misugaru, it's a Korean roasted multigrain powder drink that has a sweet, nutty, cereal like flavor and texture. This drink feels like a warm hug and it was so yummy here. My friend had a lavender latte and found that it had good coffee flavor but was too sweet. No stars deducted for this since I didn't try it. The interior of the cafe is spacious, clean, quiet, and very welcoming. I saw many students studying and drinking/eating here. There were a lot of interesting items on the menu but the three items that I tried today were disappointingly mediocre. The white grape refresher was good but nothing really special that I'd find myself craving. This was the same with the strawberry mojito. Their bingsu however, exemplified their averageness. I'd say it wouldn't even be right to call it bingsu. The portion is big but most of the ice is flavorless. Caffe Bene is a solid spot for when you want a place to chill with your friends or work on something. My friends and I arrived on Saturday afternoon and ordered at the front counter. They hand you a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready, and all dirty dishes can be dropped in the basin. I ordered the Caramel Cinnamon Honey Bread and Rose Latte. The rose latte came out looking really pretty, with rose petals sprinkled across the foam art. It tasted alright as I prefer a more fragrant coffee taste. The Caramel Cinnamon Honey Bread was quite filling for one person. It is a great dessert and surprisingly does not taste overly sweet. I enjoyed how fluffy and big the bread is, although its exterior was a bit crispier than I would have preferred. By the time it hit later in the afternoon, the café filled up pretty quickly with students, making it harder to find a free table. Overall, all their stuff is pretty alright minus the bingsoo. Where's this Caffe Bene all my life? I'm always a big fan of these chains, this particular chain anyway, which are Korean dessert cafes, and are absolutely delicious, but very very overpriced. Honestly a lot of this type of stuff is overpriced even at other Asian bakery chains these days, so it's not a big deal. I like the drinks a lot, whereas the pastries are usually a little more mediocre. I definitely highly recommend checking them out when you're in this fancy college neighbourhood of Boston, especially if they're right next to a Kung Fu Tea, which is one of my favourite places. read more

I think Caffébene is such a cute spot! I've been here twice and had great experiences both times. I once came with a friend and we shared the mango shaved ice/ bingsu and it was delicious! It definitely hit the spot! The ice cream, shaved ice, and mango were delicious but my only complaint is that the yogurt threw off the flavor profile it was a little too sour tasting for us (maybe it was greek yogurt?). I think a traditional condensed milk or a sweeter yogurt would have been better we ended up eating around the yogurt. But overall still delicious and I would order it again. I came another time on my own to have lunch and do some work. I ordered an iced hazelnut latte and a teriyaki chicken sandwich. I was very excited about the latte since the hazelnut syrup is housemade but it was not as flavorful as I was hoping. However, it was still really creamy and I did enjoy it, the flavor was a little too subtle for me. The teriyaki was great, it was very light yet still filling so it was a perfect lunch sandwich. I wanted the teriyaki flavor to be a little stronger so maybe next time I would try the spicy sandwich instead. Caffébene is also perfect for doing work. I sat at the window seat for a few hours and the ambiance was perfect. Not too loud with a nice amount of white noise from other people chatting and doing work. Street parking is a nightmare and I have never seen an available space. We decided to Uber there which was pretty decent from our place in Brookline. This place is more of a 2.5 The place had a nice seating area, the workers were friendly, and the bingsu was pretty! But the taste of the matcha bingsu was really bland. The texture was also not what I expected. The ice chunks we're big. Although it was really big, it didn't taste very good. After eating the ice cream, red bean, and whipped cream, there was a lot of plain ice still. It was hard to eat the ice after all the toppings were gone. The bingsu was really different from the other bingsu places I've tried. We ended up not finishing the ice because it was just too much and lacked flavor.
