    Egg tarts
    Denise L.

My go-to place for egg custard tarts! Filling isn't hard and more like pudding. Crust is flaky and just the right ratio with the filling. Don't go too late because they can sell out by lunchtime. I know the counter staff mostly speak Cantonese or Toisanese. A good place for a quick stop if you're on your way to South Station if you're lucky to find a seat in the cafe if the older folks aren't hanging out.

In our 2 days in downtown Boston, both mornings were breakfasts here, at 180 cafe. Generally, I'm not exposed to real East Asian cuisine, but this place was pretty great. The vibe was very casual, you order at the register and wait for the food, truly like a cafe. Also, please note that the Hong Kong Tea is a must, all the locals come here to drink it, and I see why. Everyone was very sweet and we met a lot of new, interesting people. I do thing table service would add to the experience, but overall, I highly recommend 180

I think I found my new Asian Bakery to go to! My first immediate reaction was, "this place is pretty spacious and clean." There we're probably 7-10 tables for folks to sit and have tea, enjoy a pastry and enjoy the morning news and catch up with old friends. I'm pretty much talking about the old folks around Chinatown. It's cute how these elderly Chinese folks wake up early to sit and enjoy their morning. I heard that their sticky rice was legit so I had to give it a try. I've been going to other places and their prices range from $3.50-$4. Sticky rice here is $3.95 with duck yolk inside! Other places did not have it. Nor did they have peanuts. I believe they spread oil inside so the rice wouldn't stick to the banana leaf which is a smart idea. Other places I have to sit and peel... which is really time consuming lol portion wise was really good. Their generous with the stuffing. It was a lot. Overall, I highly recommend this place. Reasonable price with good quality . Got to try their steam buns next time!

rating: 4.5/5 i've heard so many good things about the egg tarts here, and it definitely doesn't disappoint! this place is definitely one of my favorite chinese bakeries in the area, and i find myself coming here almost every time i'm in the neighborhood. my friends have also recommended their pineapple and roast pork buns. - atmosphere and overall experience - the inside of the bakery is pretty spacious with around 10 tables. the center area is where the pastries are displayed, but there are also some shown in the display cases. you basically pick out what you want and bring it to the register. the workers here are friendly and calculate the prices of each item in front of you. there are also prices displayed for most of the pastries next to their names, but you can also reference the menu taped on the glass wall. - recommendations - highly recommend that you must try their egg tarts! 4/17/23 -egg tart: the egg tarts here are some of the best that i've had, even compared to the ones in new york! they're flaky and the silky custard in the middle has the perfect amount of sweetness to it without tasting too eggy. if you're getting them fresh, they stil have that slight crisp to them when you bite in. for $1.35 each, it's pretty worth it in my opinion. i always buy at least two whenever i'm here. Ordered a mango cake and it was not worth it. The mango was not ripen, so it was still hard!! I do not recommend ordering cakes here but their buns are very good.

Bring your Chinese speaking friend for the best experience. They're nice but it is admittedly hard to know what to order since their menu has very few pictures. The seating and ambience are mediocre but this is what you would expect for an authentic Chinese restaurant. I recommend the Cha Siu Bao.

I stopped by in the early afternoon this past Monday with my top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality. This establishment is pretty close to a prior Airbnb we've stayed at and is in a neighborhood we've spent a solid amount of time in, so it's been off and on our radar for a few years. I'm pretty sure we attempted to stop by on an earlier trip but it was too busy - a tribute to the restaurant for sure. Two elements stood out to me almost immediately when we walked in, one good, one bad. On a positive note, the service was excellent - that came across in waves. This is a busy restaurant in a tourist area, and nine out of 10 times, the hospitality would suffer as a result. Not here; we were warmly received as soon as we walked in and were consistently attended to throughout our visit. Top notch in that regard. Con? Personal preference on my end, it just felt kind of grimy in there, like it had taken on the personality of its neighborhood, which is in my opinion not the best and has a homeless issue. There's definitely some personality in there - some gorgeous wood paneling and whatnot - but it was a little too chaotic/claustrophobic for me. I think there's a way they could upgrade the interior without compromising the uniqueness of Cafe Bonjour. I was at the part of our mini-vacation where I didn't necessarily have regrets over my food naughtiness, but my palate definitely needed some legitimate nourishment. I opted for the Signature Blueberry Bowl,, which predictably featured a great many blueberries, and was essentially an acai bowl interpretation with bananas and peanut butter (similar to the Acai Power Bowl at Playa Bowls). It was fine - good portion for what it was. I think they should have made it more...solid, if that makes sense. Like make the blended blueberry aspect quasi frozen so it had more substance to it. Without doing so, it just seemed too liquidy and harder to eat as a result. It was also a little bland and could have used an additional ingredient or two, and the hunks of peanut butter were difficult to blend into the bowl, so sometimes you'd end up inadvertently getting nothing but a mouthful of peanut butter. Not the best, but also probably not their biggest menu selling point. For what it's worth, my chum loved her dish (I think she got the Bennies) and enjoyed her time here immensely. This is one I'd like a do-over on and would be more than willing to come back with a better appetite and revisit - I don't know that my opinions on the vibe/atmosphere are going to change (though maybe some of that is dependent on the weather and this place really shines when the sun is out), but I probably didn't get the best that Cafe Bonjour has to offer.

It is the cutest place ever, from their squirrel mascot, to the fireplace on each floor, to the windows on each end of the rooms that lit the rooms with sunlight, it truly had such a relaxing vibe. I loved the decor and how they converted the house into 4 stories of epic cuteness galore! Each floor had different genres of books, with the top floor (5th) housing the staff only area. The 4th floor has the children's/young adult books and I love how there are so many fun elements there, from the train that goes around the top by the ceiling, to the small red door that I think it just there for decoration? Unless it leads to some magical other part of the building... lol The ground level has a cafe and offers typical cafe food like sandwiches, soups and salads, but I think their specialty is breakfast/brunch items as well as afternoon tea. We wanted to sit down and enjoy a warm drink after our book browsing and were lucky that we were able to get seated right away, as shortly after there were larger parties coming in for brunch. Fully wheelchair accessible with access through the cafe, there is an elevator that will take you to all levels. There is one restroom on the 4th floor that is also accessible.

Two bathrooms too on this floor and the bottom floor.
