Wow a hidden gem in La Jolla. We stayed next door in the shoals hotel and decided to try them for breakfast. Sure glad we did. The couple that own this place go out of there way to make everything fresh and delicious. Had bacon and eggs the first day and we were so impressed we came back a second day. This time it was an American Bagel with bacon and cheese. Another good breakfast entree. They are sure to please you with their food. read more

The coffee is literally so good I got a latte every morning I was in La Jolla. Also tried the lox bagel and tried to be a grown up and not pick off the tomato but I couldn't help myself. Very cute and friendly small cafe in La Jolla cove area. I found this shop on Yelp when I searched for bagels. It's kind of difficult to find a good bagel spot in San Diego after I was so spoiled in NYC. I tried some bagel shops and none of them met my expectations. But this time, I finally feel this cafe has good bagels!! I love my lox bagel a lot, the bagel itself is delicious and flavorful, the cream cheese and smoked salmon are well balanced. Known for their affordable $8 breakfast, soups, grilled panini, salads and espresso drinks. The food was good and the coffee was great! However, the lady was really rude! She didn't make eye contact when we were ordering, she didn't ask for our names to mark the orders and she got frustrated when I asked something about the menu. She made it known she was in a very foul mood with her facial expressions. This place is small, after ordering she instructed us to wait outside which we happily complied. After 5-10 mins a guy came out and brought my iced coffee, so we figured they might be bringing out our order (let me remind you it's our 1st time coming to this place) after 15-20 mins standing outside in the heat. I asked my fiancée to go check on our order. The rude lady told my fiancé "your order has been ready for a while, we've been calling you!" If they called once and no one came, wouldn't they think the person didn't hear?? we did not hear them calling because we were outside!!! She didn't ask for our name when we ordered. What was she calling us??? Turkey avocado bagel??? Why didn't someone came out and told us our order was ready? More so, Why not use a microphone so people waiting outside can hear when their order is ready. Also ask for the customer's name so they can call them by their name when the order is ready. I enjoyed the food but I won't be coming back because of the poor and very rude service. read more

I've been going here a few times a week for **ten years**. It's my favorite place, for several reasons. The food is excellent and you will not find a better value in the entire city. It's also run by some of the nicest most hard-working people you will ever meet in your life. It's just a small restaurant -- when you drive by you think it's just a coffee shop, and indeed they make every imaginable coffee drink -- but somehow in that tiny kitchen they make a variety of wonderful meals as well. It opens pretty early -- 6AM, I think? -- and closes around 3PM, so it's a breakfast/lunch spot. There is some outdoor seating, which I prefer in good weather, and indoor seating as well. It's just a short walk to the beach, so a good place to stop on your way to surf and sun. read more

Ok, so in case you didn't know... everything to eat in the La Jolla area is EXPENSIVE! But by day 4 of vacation, we were just hoping for a quick breakfast, not too expensive, not too fancy. This checked all of those boxes! This place is simple - a little cafe with just a few employees running it. They are nice and hard-working, though don't go out of the way for a great experience. They are here to get you good food, quickly. You'll walk up to the counter, give them your order (likely while they are multitasking) and take a seat. Once you get your food, you'll pay (whether you're doing take-out or eat-in). They have drip coffee and a beverage fridge that you can self-serve while you wait. Full coffee order service here, as well. We ordered California Bagels and Lox bagels - both were delicious and filling! Our food took us 10-15 minutes to get even on a busy day. We ate breakfast here a few days while we were visiting. read more

AMAZING place! The original place I wanted to get for lunch was closed and I have never been more grateful. We walked in and immediately were offered samples of their freshly made ceviche and we were sold. They had us order and said we could worry about paying after. The food was absolutely to die for: the ceviche was fresh and tasty and sublime. It was everything you could ever want from it, and it came with a bunch of nicely crunchy chips! We also ordered a sandwich- I believe yellowfin tuna (I went back in june and I've forgotten ) And it was CRAZY. The fish just felt so buttery and it was cooked and warm and melted in the mouth. The FLAVOR. And it came with this huge salad. The staff was so kind, and the atmosphere of this place was warm and welcoming. There were some people doing work, some people coming for pick up on their lunch break, and quite a few regulars. I wish I lived down there so I could visit more often! read more

I love helping out local stores and restaurants and since this place was walking distance, I gave it a try. I really enjoyed my TJ turkey panini on the first day and wanted to try something different the next day. I ordered the another turkey panini but it had chipotle pesto sauce which I asked if he could just do regular pesto instead as I can't handle spice, but he recommended me getting the TJ turkey panini and paying $2 for avocado. I just said I would try the spicy panini and didn't like the sandwich at all. I should have just said to not put the chipotle pesto in it at all. All I asked was to substitute the chipotle pesto with regular pesto. So sad. Their chai latte was good. read more

Ordered take out. Parking can be a bit hectic, but I was lucky enough to find a space right in front of the establishment. This place always has a packed house, but don't get antsy. The food is worth every minute. I ordered the vahik special salad. Lots of yummy mixed greens, big scoops of roasted pine nuts and giant dollops of creamy, tangy goat cheese. The salad also had cherry tomatoes and fresh cucumbers. I decided to add grilled chicken, which made everything 10 times better! The potion was big enough so I had half for lunch and the other half for dinner. They have a yelp coupon for $2, take advantage of that deal while you can. Staff is friendly, but always in a rush, since it's just 2 of them. Non the less, I will be coming back for sure! read more

AMAZING experience. We walked in, and the man working (maybe the owner Vahik himself?) was very welcoming and helpful with recommendations. He recommended the Bahamas burrito, and all four people in our group ordered it and loved it! We literally saw them boiling the potatoes after we ordered, and the burritos were extremely fresh. Good food without the smile. Today I was in there with a friend to get a bagel. While there I stopped in the restroom. The toilet seat slipped off of the toilet and pinched my thigh in two places something awful. The two people behind the counter were a man and a woman. When I went to tell them the woman said "Oh I know the toilet seat." The man said, "I will get it fixed right away". No apologies. Listen lady, it would be really nice if you "knew" to put a sign of caution so that your toilet didnt bite anyone else and that I don't have to paste the shame on yelp. Thank you.
