A friend/coworker and I saw this place while we had to do drivers training for work. We had been driving for HOURS and we parked in this shopping center parking lot and I guess both of our eyes drifted to the same place where it said "TAPIOCA" We just did a little mental note and a happy dance. Since we were both having a bad Friday we decided to find this place on Yelp. Luckily enough we found the location and went there. We thought it was the best stuff on earth. We had the porkchop and chicken lunches which were good and filling. The ladies there that served us were nice. It was a really cute store, but now that I think of it, the boba was just not up to par with all the other places like Sweethearts or Tapioca Express. But really now...not the BEST boba place, but considering it is one of TWO boba places in the San Ramon vacinity...a girl needs her boba ;) I would only go here for the food or a boba fix (well during work days of course) read more

Found this boba place by chance and it's nice little spot with lot of parking spots. Staff are welcoming and super efficient, walk in order and ready within few mins. I got the caramel milk tea (perfect sweetness and flavor) and the popcorn chicken (not fresh and too chewy for my liking) I would go back to try other drinks and the fried octopus or fried tofu ! read more

We went to this place today and my husband had avocado smoothie and it tasted more like vanilla than it's actual flavor and I had taro smoothie and it doesn't taste quite right. Lesson learned not to go back in this boba place. Very disappointed. read more

Cafe Tapioca is located in the same strip mall as Amakara. It has a nice variety of boba teas and offers hot snack foods including popcorn chicken, popcorn chicken in Sandwich Form, etc. I suspect this place has been around for a while, since over the last few years there has been an explosion of boba places in the Tri-Valley area: T4, Kung Fu Tea, Sharetea, Westea, and yes even inside 99 Ranch deli counter. My review is for drinks only. I got the Hazelnut Milk Tea - although I do taste hazelnut (probably from Toriani syrup) it was really watery for me and not really to my liking. Wife got the honey green tea which was much better, though its on the sweeter side and harder to mess up. This place is better for snacks or Double Rainbow ice cream, but for boba tea I'd stick to other places. read more

It's been a warm boba minute since I've been here and I can't believe I have yet to write a review. When I first moved out to the tri-valley- I was like pfffft good luck on the boba-front. Then one fateful day as I was getting lost (again) looking for Amakara (again) I somehow found myself in front of Cafe Tapioca. The suburbian heavens opened up and said, "April- Here is the milk tea and boba place you've been bugging me to find...Now please pray for something useful like world peace..." I digress... I come here for the green tea milkshake w/tapioca (boba, pearls, round-chewy-yumminess) around 5 bucks for a large and the tapioca typically on point...There were a couple of times I found hard centers so I always make it a point to ask for 1 small boba to try to make sure it's fresh. They do have creamas but not what I'm used to which Cremas that are more of the whipped cream cheese type topping but it's ok. The smoothies are made with fresh fruit and definitely yum!! They are CASH only. Always have been. Seriously-if you don't have cash with you- You really need to rethink the luxuries of dining/snacking outside. FYI: Always pay for food/snacks/meals with cash-so then you know how much is really coming out of your pocket when you dine out! *hopping off soapbox* All the fried stuff is yum so get it if you're looking for something to snack on as you sip on your milk tea and surf the web on their free wi-fi :) read more

The interior is absolutely precious. It is heavily decorated in Snoopy decor and if you are a Snoopy lover, you must come here! As for the drinks, I think the milk tea is average. I got the boba milk tea and I thought it was pretty good! Checked in on yelp and got my topping for free. However, I didn't really like the customer service. When it got time to pay, I was trying to find my card. I heard the guy at the register (who seemed to be the owner) say "ta mei you chien" (it means "she doesn't have money" in Chinese) to one of the workers and they started laughing. I ended up paying with Apple Pay, but that really took me back. I don't think I'll be returning. read more

cafe tapioca my experience: i used to come here all the time as a kid after eating at amakara. i haven't been here in years and they have remodeled and it looks so nice! i got a matcha milk tea with boba and it tasted like green tea ice cream (mm my fave!) the wait wasn't bad and there are plenty of seats to chill and talk to friends. food/price: they have food here as well as a full menu of drinks. i don't recall how much my drink was but there are 2 sizes and usually boba around the area is about $5 service: friendly staff! no complaints. notes: they have water and this place has gotten so cute! only down side is it's a little warm but i loved coming here as a kid and will definitely be back read more

Wow, this place has been around for a LONG time! I started coming here 10 years ago (when I was 15!), but stopped once I moved for college. So happy that I decided to come back today. Their smoothies are amazing (might be too sweet for the normal person) and the girls working there today were really friendly. I'm a fan of their taro and cookies & cream smoothies. I also like their spicy popcorn chicken. I remember back in the day when the service here was super slow. However, today was a complete turn around. Drinks and food were ready within 10 minutes. I can't believe I never reviewed Cafe Tap before! I used to come here all the time when I'm in the area, or we would actually drive specifically here and hang out. I guess it's Dublin's version of parking pimping by a bunch of obnoxious loud car enthusiasts. I always liked their teas, never got anything else ... but recently I did have their pudding milk tea which was not tasty and just kind of plain. I had the Popcorn Chicken & Taro Milk Tea w tapioca My boyfriend had the Butterfly Shrimp & Strawberry Banana Smoothie w tapioca We had "medium" spice level on both Shrimp & Chicken as well as Rice on the side. The rice 10/10 it's sticky & soft. The smoothie was 100% sweetness level 10/10 it's fruity & sweeet, they also add a good amount of tapioca/boba. The milk tea was 25% ice which was perfect so it doesn't water down, I got 75% sweetness but should have gotten 100%. The chicken was soft & had good flavor BUT would get the shrimp next time because it was soo good. I was not impressed with my experience at Cafe Tapioca. When I ordered their jasmine green tea with tapioca, I was expecting a nice, refreshing beverage. Unfortunately, the tea had a bitter, metallic taste that was not at all pleasant. Additionally, it seemed that the staff was not particularly sanitary; I noticed that the girl who worked at the cashier had food half-eaten on her hand as she checked me out. My sisters and I always come to cafe tapioca when we ate in Pleasanton. We love their ice cream milk tea! We usually get it with French vanilla or Cookie vanilla. Their cheese fries are just garbage (a slice of American cheese over frozen crinkle fries from the grocery store.) Also that store covers this bad incident: once my fiance and I went there and we waited 30+ minutes for our drinks (2 drinks) while this group of 4 Asian kids who came in after us got their 8-10 drinks to go before us (I guess they were taking them back to other people?) and an Asian couple got their 2 drinks before us too even though they were behind us in line. I came here with a friend last Friday night and thanked the good Lord that I had five, one-dollar bills on my person. Cash only can be such a pain! I'm glad that the prices on their menu board already include tax, so I didn't have to whip out my phone calculator in order to see whether or not I'd be able to make it. Most of the drinks are in the $2.50-$3.50 range, gets up near $4 for the larger size, and the charge for boba is $0.50. I got a cold milk tea with boba, and my friend got a hot milk tea with boba. First off, I know a lot of places that won't allow you to order a hot drink with boba. I guess it would mess with the texture of it, make it softer, but if that's what a patron wants, they should still have the option to get their drink that way. The milk tea was solid, and so was their boba. Definitely softer than Purple Kow, but not mushy like Quickly's can sometimes be. I don't think there are a lot of other boba places in the area, so I'm definitely open to checking this place out again (maybe taro milk tea or the hazelnut variety). Cafe Tapioca is good for individuals, or maybe one-on-ones, but I would not recommend it for groups or extended study sessions. They've got some couch-like seating to the left when you enter, and then a table for two, table for four, and little arcade game that has two seats near it, against the right wall, but I think they designed this place with the phrase "grab and go" in mind. It's an ok place that fills a fairly empty niche in this part of the East Bay - can't complain too much or we'd be boba-less! read more

I have been to Café Tapioca many times and never been disappointed. I think the staff is very nice and drinks are consistent. Their drinks run the gamut from milk teas, to smoothies to juice to hot and cold coffee drinks. I really enjoy their #1 Royal Milk Tea, $2.50 (R), $3.50 (L), #3 Thai Tea $2.50 (R), $3.50 (L), #32 Honey Green Tea, $2.25 (R), $3.25 (L). They also offer pearls, lychee jelly and other fun add-ins. I like this establishment is very clean and never too busy or noisy. It is open till 10 p.m. so it makes those late night cravings convenient. In addition to drinks, they also serve food. I work in food and customer service, so I like to cut food workers some slack, but this woman was quite rude. She rolled her eyes at me, and got quite irritated when I order another drink after the initial first one. I tried being extra polite to fix it, but it was just awkward. I felt pressured to go quick and got a drink I did not want. I felt like I was in high school and she was the mean girl. I'm kind of spineless so it freaked me out. not sure if i'm biased due to nostalgia, but i love this little boba shop. i've been coming here ever since i was in elementary school (i'm 23 now) and i've seen this place transform aesthetically many times and i always find myself coming back. i usually order the winter melon milk tea with half sweet and light ice and i've never had any regrets whenever i come here. they also have some ice cream options and snack options so if you're not really into boba there's probably something else here you're like instead. i also like how they have little keychains and candy they have on the side to purchase as well. i got myself a reusable boba straw here too! read more

As I was at Mike's Camera and wanted a bite to eat, I thought I'd see what they had at this place. I walked indoors and saw four photos of food and went closer. The first said something to me, which I didn't quite catch. I do some Mandarin, but it wasn't familiar, so it was probably English. She seemed quite disagreeable. I said something about wanting some food, and then, I said that the Potstickers sounded good. She didn't ask "Would you like to order them?" but said something like "Thank you for visiting." Then, I said that I wanted those plus a tea. We went back and forth for a while, and I ordered a Lychee Black Tea. Oddly, she pronounced Lychee two different ways while I was there. My tea was something like $2.50 or $2.75 on the menu, but suddenly, I was paying $7.50. Seriously, I wasn't even sure that she understood anything and I was going to start speaking Mandarin to check, even though I'm not that great at it. I guess I could have written it on the phone. She seemed unhappy that I ordered food at all. I suppose there could have been an "unhappy to serve you" fee in there. The other woman delivered my tea rather quickly, paper on the top of the straw, ready to go. After quite a while, the potstickers were delivered, with a big frown from the first woman. Everything was good. There were 6 potstickers in the little styrofoam box, along with the chili oil, and soy sauce with vinegar. Also included was a fork. They were not all that hot, but they were thankfully crispy, fried. I find it hilarious that I've been a regular of Cafe Tapioca and have never stepped foot inside he restaurant (yet). So I can't vouch for a dine in experience. I've gotten door dash delivery from Cafe Tapioca over 20+ times in the last two months lol.. BUT that aside, Cafe Tapioca has been a huge hit in our house. My son loves the strawberry green tea with lychee. My usual from just about any boba place is a jasmine green tea. Sometimes I sub almond milk for cows milk/creamer to lessen my consumption of milk but it is still very good! A non-gmo soy alternative to cows milk would be even more welcome in the future but for now it isn't on the app for doordash. read more

So, there aren't a lot of choices for tapioca drinks in the Dublin area but it wouldn't matter - I'd still be here a few times a week. They have about a hundred drink choices (although I always get the Thai iced tea with double boba), the service is fast, and the place is clean. Ingredients are always fresh. The owners just opened a second location off Santa Rita in Pleasanton if that's more convenient. One word of caution for anyone enjoying tapioca drinks from any establishment: Beware of fat boba and conjoined boba! They like to hang out in the end of your straw and then shoot up at maximum velocity directly into your throat and/or lungs. Enjoy responsibly and always supervise small children! read more
