Love this place! I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. The owners are so welcoming and very personable! My favorite drinks are definitely the Royal Milk tea, ice cream milk tea (green tea ice cream flavor), and the avocado green tea smoothie. I would like to consider myself a boba connoisseur. I just got two drinks from here and the experience wasnt so delight. They messed up 1 drink(gave us the wrong drink) and in the other drink that they got correct, there was hair. There were two workers, when I came back to see if they could redo the drinks, one worker was clearly apologetic while the other showed unhappy attitude. There was no compensation drink but thats okay. When I got the two correct drinks, there was a clear different in sweetness and ice in both of the drinks. The drinks were less sweet and they were very thick due to the heavy amount of ice. Growing up with only a Quicklys around me for boba (which I'm not a fan of), it was always a treat to get boba at Cafe Tapioca after going to the optometrist. It looks like your typical Asian boba place, but the drinks here are really good. All the drinks are really affordable too. It's 3.50 for a regular size fruit tea ($3.00+ .50 for boba). The boba is always fresh and both the fruit teas and smoothies are very tasty and refreshing. Their lychee green tea and mango or strawberry smoothie are my favorite drinks here. I used to get hamburger gummies here too. **The only downside is that it's CASH ONLY. I recently saw that they remodeled the place and I love the new set up. It's very modern; I love their decor of succulents and wood furniture. The space used to feel small and tight, but the way they arranged everything makes it look very spacious. It's been a year since I've been here last and they have renovate/update the place and it looks a lot better. The place is still small but the way they moved the counter made it looks like the space is much bigger than it used to be. There's 3 tables and a bar space facing the windows, therefore there's not a lot of sitting since the tables are huge. As a resident of San Ramon, there aren't that many options for Bobba. My wife and I were having serious withdrawals (we lived in Milpitas which has at least 4 places). We went to this location right after eating at Amakara. My wife had a Thai Ice Tea and I had a Kiwi Snow. The Thai Ice Tea was standard fare but the Kiwi was different from the one I get at Quickly. The ice cream was your average ice cream, nothing special, but it hits the spot if that's what you're in the mood for. Good place for some a little above average tapioca. Parking was not a problem because of the large plaza parking lot. Store it self can sometimes be a little musty/humid like many other boba places. I came here and ordered a peach black tea with lychee jelly which was pretty good. Many asian drinks such as this and milk tea give me headaches or stomaches because of the high amounts of sugar, but this one did not. Service is the same as any other asian run tapioca store. Fun Fact: Cafe Tapioca was one of the original if not the first boba place in Tri-Valley area, I'm guessing this was around 15 years ago. I remember when I grew up no one even knew what boba was at the time and my mom told me that she found a fun cafe right next to Payless (which is now Paris Baguette). She took my sister and me and my first boba drink was their pina colada slush! OMFG so good! I kept coming back here for years since it was the only one open. They eventually opened a boba spot at Le Asia Grocery store (now it's Walmart Grocery) and since then they popped up everywhere. I love the cute film lids that Cafe Tapioca has on their drinks, there's usually cute cartoons on them LOL They also sell adorable Asian toys and goodies here. Anywho, y'all know that I have been living in San Diego for the last few years and I recently came back to Norcal. I don't really hang out in the Dublin area anymore but I came here yesterday with my cousin and we ordered like 5 drinks total. Anywhere I go I usually order coffee milk tea, but I thought since I was at my original boba place I had to get pina colada! It's still the same recipe they use from several years ago! I love it!!! I'm a pretty vanilla boba-goer (just milk tea boba for me, not too into the extra fun stuff). Flavors you cannot sleep on: taro, honeydew melon, & thai tea. Tapioca consistency is on point here; I've never had hard/not-thoroughly-cooked tapioca here, it's always soft & chewy. They also recently went through a makeover. If i am craving boba or milk tea in the east bay i always always come here. Have been comming here since they opened years ago and have become very good friends with the owner Ed he is awsome and the staff. He is very open to ideas and open to what customers think and i have seen some ideas go into effect. Very comfortable seats but usually very hard to find seats when the place is busy. YES! Finally! An awesome boba place near Danville, Dublin area. No more driving 45 minutes to Fantasia. I've been disappointed many times by Ulferts Plaza's Quickly so I was delighted to discover this little place. First of all, parking is far easier than Ulferts Center's... and second, the boba is WAYYYY better. Call me picky but I like my boba a certain texture. It can't be too hard and it can't be too soft (that's what she said). It's gotta be JUST right. And Cafe Tapioca's got it down. Sounds horrible, but I could chew on these pearls all day long. The Royal Milk tea is delicious. I don't like it when it's overly creamy and they've got the mixture just right. I also ordered crispy chicken over rice for a late lunch, and it was delicious. We came here since we saw that they had a lot of reviews + four stars. We went ahead and both ordered the iced royal milk tea with boba (since according to the reviews that's what most people raved about). I guess if I hadn't been spoiled with non-instant milk tea I would have liked this a lot. But unfortunately I can't go back so I wasn't that fond of it. The food and drinks are good and the staff is nice just not the most organized/ in sync. Whenever i go I always get the extra spicy for my food. If its the young girls working they do the perfect amount, if its the older baldish man working he puts way more on than the girls. They will run out of a food item but not update the online menu so you can still order what they dont have in stock which is annoying. And when your food or drink is ready they call out the name of the item not the person who bought it so if its busy youre likely to mistake your drink for someone elses UNLESS you order online in which they tape the receipt to it. And if you order online itll automatically say your order is ready at the scheduled time without it actually being ready. This place definitely needs more adequate management. read more

I went here and there was only one lady working behind the counter , they were not busy however the one lady working behind the counter was taking the orders and making the orders , so it was time consuming . After waiting around for 15 minutes I placed my order to find out it is CASH only , and she was rude about it as well. I was going to use the coupon from Your Town Monthly - sandjadvertising.com however I guess you have to have the printed coupon , which was annoying as well . Anyways sadly I didn't have the cash to try the place. My two stars is because the lady was rude, they had a long wait , someone who ordered something before me took it back to the lady and she was upset that the customer complained. This is the first time I came here, so this review is based on my first impression. The cafe itself is a very relaxing and comfy place. I really like the arrangement of the cafe however, it is a bit small. There are not a lot of sitting areas from what I see. The cafe isn't busy when I got there, so I don't think there is going to be a long line when you get there. I looked around and one thing that I thought was cool was that they sell key chains, macaroons (I think it is with another company or something), candies, and some Snoopy items. I then got a hot Oolong milk tea. It was a bit sweet for my taste but it's still good. The size for a regular is a reasonable size. The next time I order, I will probably get less sugar. One thing that I thought was out of the ordinary was that they deliver the food and/or drink to the table you are at. You might think that is normal, but for a boba place, it is not. They just usually call your name or number out and you pick it up. Some of the items they sell are milk tea, regular tea, smoothies, ice creams, and food (ex: popcorn chicken (comes in different flavors), fried tofu/mushrooms/pot stickers, and fries). It is a good cafe in general, but there isn't anything that wow me yet. But I will definitely come back and update my reviews when I have a good sense of this place. The boba however didn't taste very fresh which is always a concern for me when I visit smaller venues since they don't have as much turnover as the bigger chains. I should be more open minded and try something different but the classic milk tea goodness has me jiving and you know the saying, "if something ain't broke..." **There is a certain boba drink etiquette if you don't want to be left with a cup full of boba at the bottom of your cup so here's the deets: 1. Take your straw and bring it up above the surface of the liquid and sip from the top the first couple of sips/gulps. 2. Dip your straw all the way to the bottom of cup and gulp up liquid with a few boba pearls. After about halfway repeating steps 1 and 2, you should be able to have enough boba to drink ratio to enjoy.
