This is a solid 4 star place, that does not deserve the nasty 1 star reviews. Firstly, the staff was exceedingly pleasant. The food was good, I had the Penne Ricotta, and my husband had the spagetti and meatballs. The vibe I got was comfort food in an eclectic historic building, which certainly checks the boxes for me. I had to try the starter salad because of all the complaints. It wasn't bad, and the dressing was good, just tasted like the beginning of an antipasto salad that needs cheese and salami, etc. I hear they are going to stop serving it due to feedback. Anyway, ignore the haters and give these guys a try. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and will be back! read more

Being Italian and having been born and raised in the New York metro area, I'm quite critical of Italian restaurants. Finding a place like cafe Stella in a small mountain town like flagstaff was a stroke of good fortune! All the pasta is hand made there, as is the sausage. The tomato sauce was also good; not garlicky or acidic. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. It's not fancy, just homey and delicious. If you want all of this, don't miss it! read more

A must visit for anyone- local or tourist. Best meal I've had in a very long time. I had the Tuscan Salmon and it was life changing. The handmade pasta makes all the difference, and the service is impeccable. Really chilled out, contemporary vibes. Beautiful place and super clean. Can't recommend enough. read more

Mediocre at best. There on Sunday for lunch. Not up to all the hype. Service was above average. Expected more pasta based selections. Maybe at dinner? A little pricey with small portions. $17 for a single slice of French toast cut in half. 2 skimpy pieces of bacon and eggs which were overcooked. No potatoes. Wife's sandwich was generous although not quite grilled to hot. Will try them for dinner for another chance. read more

First time at Cafe Stella and we were extremely satisfied. Our table had a variety of pastas; spaghetti & meatballs, chicken alfredo, margarita chicken, and ravioli. Everything was great. Drinks were phenomenal as well. Service was fast and friendly & the atmosphere is cool and modern. Definitely will visit again next time I'm hungry for fresh pasta! read more

We were so delighted to find this restaurant just downstairs from the place we rented for our one week stay in Flagstaff. Delicious handmade pasta dishes and tiramisu! We visited 3 times and enjoyed each one. Friendly, welcoming staff, top-notch pasta and service, and an inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend. My only wish is that we'd had the opportunity to enjoy their weekend brunch too but alas we didn't stay through the weekend. Yum! Yum! Yum! read more

We live in Flagstaff and had dinner at Cafe Stella Friday night. The food and service were excellent, and we will definitely make this one of our regular dining spots!! Thank you!! read more

Amazing food, cooked to perfection. Pasta was amazing and might be the best Alfredo sauce I've had yet. Couldn't recommend more.

The best vegetarian sandwich I've ever had and Derek was so nice and friendly! My girlfriend had the meatballs and they ruled. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Had the Southwest Scramble. It was actually pretty good. However, it took very long for the food to come out. Over 35 minutes when the restaurant really was not busy on a Sunday morning. They told us that a large group came in before us. We only saw about six people at one table. Further, my wife asked for a second drink, and they never brought it. She had to ask again. We did sit in the patio on a very nice morning which was nice. The staff was very friendly, however, they need to pay more attention to their customers and faster service. read more

We stopped in here for a quick drink & snack before we hit the road. The staff was absolutely wonderful and the customer service was unreal. The back patio was super cute and dog friendly. They were very quick with our order & had it out right away. Excellent food & service! This place definitely is worth a try! read more

The food was incredible! We all agreed that the lemon pasta with added chicken was the winning dish, but honestly everything we ate was wonderful! We went with 3 adults and a child, ate happily, took home leftovers and celebrated a birthday with a bottle of wine and spent $100. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Also, it's worth noting that their patio is dog friendly if that's important to you. I 100% recommend Cafe Stella and look forward to going back again soon! Please support this business, we want places like this to stick around!! read more

Everything was great but the food. Cool location, fun beer, but the food was way below average for the price. First yelp review, just overwhelmingly bad food and had to share. read more

Each time we come to Flagstaff we look forward to coming here. We have left great reviews before. I wonder if things are going a little downhill. Everything we loved before just wasn't present today. The main issue today however was that one dish was served with the chicken partially warm and partially super cold. it was cooked but just apparently reheated because it was still cold. when brought up, the server agreed it should have been served hot. Our bill came with 10% off that item (not the bill) the item. Seems kind of weird considering we ordered 3 entrees, 2 beers. dessert, and were really nice about the fact that the food was cold. 10% off a dish served with cold chicken? When we were here before the manager always came over to say hello. Today - definitely not. It seemed like the food was so rushed it was cold. I definitely didn't have the same experience that previously made me tell others to visit or made me look for to coming back. My food was good (Tuscan something wuth salmon). But I would hope that all of it would be good, served at the correct temperature next time. I also hope that cafe stella is inviting the way it was so that we can be just as excited to go back as we were before. Not bad - just not the place it was before. Definitely not the same quality of food or customer service. read more

The service was great! I was excited to check this new place out! As for the food, not impressed at all. The "creamy" salmon had no sort of cream or a sauce let alone perhaps just juice from the salmon or the pasta itself. Same goes for the burrata pasta sounds amazing yet comes out so dry until u break the burrata and get the juice from that. Ordered a bottle of wine and decided to take it home, was not informed until after trying to take it home that there's a 10$ "recorking" fee as they taped my screw top wine sealed. Like I said the service was great ambiance was up there too but the food is not worth returning for. read more

Had a great dinner tonight! The meatballs were tender and the pasta was perfectly cooked. We also had the Calabrian chili pasta it was an amazing surprise! Don't forget the white Negroni, my new fav for sure! read more

The ambiance is very nice at night especially on the back patio area. The waiters and waitresses are all super friendly, personal and helpful. But the food... it is average and a bit bland. Sounds fancy and elegant on the menu but that is not what comes out of the kitchen. I am a little surprised that this wasn't a five star experience but the food taste brought the rating down from what could have been five stars if the food came out as good as the service. read more

For starters the wait was 2 hours. They warned us so that's whatever. Just be warned. They said they had two huge parties come right before us. it was parties of 6. that's not a huge party btw. Once we got seated the service was great. our waiter was very nice. Our drinks came out timely. The bruschetta appetizer was wonderful. He did forget about our salads, but they came out after about 30 minutes after our drinks. However the salads were a disgrace to my Italian culture. The salad tasted cheaply made, it was just ice berg lettuce! The dressing for it was just a cheap red dressing. please offer a balsamic vinaigrette and use a different green mix!! I suggest a spring mix or 50/50 spinach and arugula!! Such a disappointment, i was scared for my food after the salad. However, our main courses were delicious. We ordered the lemon ricotta with meatballs, and spaghetti and meatballs. Both were delicious. Overall there are some improvements that need to be made such as more staffing since they're such a busy restaurant. But i have faith that they can be great if they stop cutting corners with the cheap salad. I'll try again in a few months to see if they improve! read more

High expectations Low deliverance. A small menu, fresh pasta and reasonable prices seemed perfect. Well the fresh pasta was gummy and tasted more like overcooked dry pasta, the signature pork pasta had one piece of pork in the very bland tomato sauce with a dried out pork chop on top. The lemon ricotta pasta , gummy as well, had minimal lemon flavor, one slice of lemon on top and way too many chili flakes. Would have benefited from some lemon zest to freshen it. Although offered to add chicken, and requested to do so, alas no chicken. In hindsight if the pork chop was any indication it would have been dried out as well. The caprese salad I asked if the tomatoes were good (seasonal), I was told they wouldn't use them unless they were. We ordered two caprese salads, never saw this before. Tomato like salsa, one piece of basil and processed mozzarella cheese. Complimentary salad had black olives and peppers with same dressing as caprese, tasted like Italian bottle dressing. Everything was marginal, Italian chain restaurants are much better and from those you wouldn't expect a lot As for service the eight year old child who was seating people and serving waters did a very nice job, though I question the legality of her working there. Lots of people were running around, but either they were giving duplicate silverware or forgetting the wine. Also when we told our server we weren't especially happy with the food he asked if we wanted a box. Duh?? He did take the wine off our bill, which was actually the best thing we had there. Took half of it home because the servers brought all the courses at the same time. When we mentioned that we were told they were still working it out in the back. Ambiance, nope. Astro turf on the walls, bare tables, no art, soda machine in the middle of the restaurant like a fast food chain. Patio right next to the parking lot. Fresh pasta hanging in the window . No flowers, no table cloths nothing warm or pleasant about the restaurant. A major miss and a big disappointment! Drive 10 minutes to the restaurant and was back in an hour read more

Heard this place just opened up, I was told I needed to try it. Fantastic food and service. Strongly recommend. All credit to the chefs

While visiting friends in Flagstaff, we decided to stop and grab dinner at Cafe Stella and had a wonderful experience. The fresh pasta was undoubtedly the star of the show! The pasta was tender and bursting with flavor. The warm and cozy ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall dining experience. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and very friendly. To top it all off, the tiramisu was the best I've ever had! Cafe Stella is a great place for a romantic date night or a fun evening with friends. The espresso martini is amazing! read more

absolutely delicious. the homemade pasta makes all the difference. we shared a salad and split the pasta margarita. it was plenty. even had leftovers. read more

Could no't get beyond the iceberg lettuce! After an hour. I feel for the wait staff snfd tipped them appropriately. Ugh, Flagstaff, lets do better together. read more

My wife and I visited for a post birthday week dinner and this place was amazing! We started with the garlic bread appetizer and a couple drinks (my wife a chianti and myself an amazing pomegranate whisky sour). The bread was perfectecrly toasted on the outside while still soft and warm inside, it paired perfectly with the delicious red sauce. For dinner we had the Chicken Alfredo and the Scaffetti's Pasta. The Alfredo was creamy with a delicious garlicky bite and the chicken cooked perfectly. The Scaffetti's was served with the same amazing red sauce and a brilliantly cooked marinated pork chop, I honestly couldn't help myself eating the entire dish. Both dishes were served with the housemade noodles done perfectly al dente. The service was incredibly attentive and kind answering all of our questions and providing great insight into the dishes and drinks (I have to give high props for recommending the whisky sour!). The prices were very good for downtown with ample serving sizes, the ambiance was a mixture of a cozy Cafe and trendy dinner spot thanks to serval couches and neon signs. I am excited on returning soon, not only to try more dinner options but the brunch menu! read more

We just came into Flagstaff today around noon (Sunday) and we're looking for something lighter and savory for lunch. Having only spent just a little time in Flagstaff, we decided to find a place to eat around Heritage Square. We were pretty non-plused by what was available until we checked out the brunch menu on the window of Stella's. We are glad we decided to eat there. We both had the bruschetta toast with eggs, garlic and goat cheese. It tasted great! My only critiques are that it was barely warm. It came on a metal tray and was beautifully plated. Maybe you could preheat the trays to keep the food warm? Also, your staff was very attentive and helpful, but our waiter leaned on his elbows onto our table to talk with us and i saw the other waiter lean on the table into the quests as well. We are older and carry masks with us wherever we go and are cautious about where we go, so i really hope you can get them to understand that leaning on the table and talking into peoples faces is not a good idea. Everything else was a good experience! Good luck with the coffee machine repair. read more

I feel bad for this place because they recently opened and they are trying to find their footing. I went a week after they opened and then 2 months after they opened. The food got worse. It is insipid and low quality. The only silver lining is that the wine by the glass is a good value and decent quality. Interestingly, some bottles of wine are the price of a glass x 4 + $6, some are price of a glass x 4 + $4, and some are just price of a glass x 4. So not only do you not get a discount if you order a bottle, in many cases, you get ripped off. That's a reminder to not listen to your friends that keep insisting that buying a bottle is a better deal. That stopped being true over a decade ago. And as you can see here, it will cost you, depending on what you order. Check out the online menu and you can see for yourself. Lastly, our server was good, but the food took FOREVER!. On both occasions the kitchen appeared to be extremely backed up. read more

As a local resident, I really wanted this restaurant to work. And as a former waitress, I have a lot of empathy for restaurant workers. Unfortunately, the service was so bad that we had to walk out after an hour and a half of being ignored. At first, we had to wait because no one could find the menus, then our drink came over 30 minutes later and the glass was filthy. We put an order in and never heard back. As we waited, we watched an 8 year old bus tables and the bartender was spilling liquid on us. When we asked about our food they brought a wilted iceberg salad with canned black olives, which we didn't order. Never did we get to eat our meal because we walked out starving. A staff member was defensive and unapologetic. I have never left a bad review before and I have never walked out of a restaurant. This was that bad. I hope they pause, reset, hire more staff and start over. They are not ready to open. I gave 2 stars and not one because they are new and have an opportunity to make it right. I hope one day I can give it a 5. read more
